Wadaya (formerly Mogu Mogu) is a popular spot for Mazemen, a brothless ramen. Customers rave about the flavorful Deluxe Mazemen and the chewy, thick noodles. Expect a wait, especially on weekends, as the restaurant is small.
Tip: Go early to avoid a wait, as the place is small. Try the Deluxe Mazemen and don't forget to add the vinegar sauce and rice at the end to enjoy the leftover sauce.

We ordered two different mazemens: the Deluxe and the Kyoto. First off, the noodles were great, I loved how chewy/springy/bouncy they were. As for the flavors, the Kyoto was decent. It was savory, but nothing really stood out. The Deluxe, however, was bursting with flavor. With just the right amount of spice and garlic, plus a few splashes of their house vinegar, I couldn’t stop eating. Toward the end of the meal, they brought out a small cup of rice that you can mix with the remaining sauce. The service was great, parking was plentiful, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
This charming little shop completely satisfied our mazemen craving! We were pleasantly surprised when an employee opened the door to welcome us in and asked whether we’d prefer to wait or be seated at the bar. The service was exceptional from start to finish. They gave us plenty of time to browse the menu and checked in on us regularly without being pushy. Waters arrived immediately after we were seated, and our food came out within just a few minutes of ordering. We tried both the cheese mazemen and Tokyo mazemen, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The servers were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal - truly embodying the excellent customer service that Japanese culture is known for. We’ll definitely be returning when we’re craving quality ramen or mazemen. Highly recommended!
We stumbled onto this place after going to another restaurant that was closed, and what a great find! We love ramen but never had mazeman, so we had both. In addition, we enjoyed a couple great apps - the sausage and deep fried tendons. The ramen and mazeman were excellent with great chewy noodles and complex flavors. If you've never had fried tendons, you need to give these a try - they are perfectly chewy with a little crunch, plus it's deep fried! The smokey little sausages were a delicious way to whet the appetite. The room is small but charming. You'll probably need.tonwaot a bit during peak times but it will be worth it.
Never tried this style of ramen. It was surprisingly tasty. Very flavorful. They recommend eating half of you bowl and adding their special vinegar sauce halfway through. They give you a small bowl of rice to finish any sauce remnants. Will be coming back if I'm in the area.
Just wow! Incredible ramen, and I love the different ways to eat it. All three different ways has their own unique flavor profiles, and I simply loved all of them. Be aware the place is small, and you’ll need to go early unless you want a decent wait. Regardless, the food is well worth it.
We ordered the tonkotsu ramen and tokyo mazemen and they were both incredibly good !!! Loved the matcha too
Cute little restaurant on the corner of a strip of businesses at the Costa Mesa location. Waited about 10 minutes for a table inside for 3 of us on a Sunday. 2 tables outside which is perfect for people to bring their dogs. I can confirm 2 dogs being at the outside tables:) We had Mogu Chicken Karaage, 2 Deluxe Mazemen, and 1 Curry Mazemen. My daughter didn't really like the Curry Mazemen because she's a fan of everything curry and the curry was so subtle so she was disappointed. My husband and I liked the Deluxe Mazemen, especially after tailoring the dish to our personal tastes with the vinegar and crushed sesame seeds at the table. The Mogu Karaage was delicious! Wish there was room for the Green tea cheesecake but they gave a novelty coin for the Gacha machine to win something and we won 20% off our next visit! I'm excited to try other things on the menu next time!
If you love thick noodles, this is it! The noodles are thick and chewy. They have lots of mazemen choices on the menu with different spices and meat options. All of the mazemen are spicy, except for the Kyoto mazemen. For someone who can't eat spicy food, the spiciness is not too much and you might be able to handle it as long as you don't add more chili (which you can order on the side for those who love spicy food). One unique thing I found was that you also get 2-3 spoons of rice on the side which you can mix to soak the leftover sauce after you finished the noodles. We tried the Impossible Tokyo Vegan Mazemen, the Asari Tonkotsu and Vegan Ramen. They are all very delicious. It was our first time trying the Ramen without broth. There were different combination of toppings that mixed in with the noodle and a spicy sauce. It is different but we liked it. We arrived at 4:55pm and there were already 2 groups of customers waiting in front of us. The place slowly filled up. Service is good, people are friendly. They have outdoor dining too. Will definitely return to try their other dishes.
What we tried ⤵️⤵️ 🍜 Deluxe 🍜 Cheese Mazemen ————————————————————— 🥳 happy Sunday foodie fam!! Have you had mazemen 🍜? It’s a delicious Japanese ramen dish without any broth & usually served on a thick ramen with minced pork that is flavored in chili pepper and garlic-treated soy sauce. 🍜 “Mazemen” literally translates to “mixed noodles” in English. As see in our video, we really have to mix the noodles well in order to eat it properly. After all the noodles are eaten, it is a Japanese tradition to add a scoop of white rice into the mix that is left in the bowl. This is called “Oi-Meshi.” We totally loved it. Soooo satisfying yum yum 🤤. 🍜 Mogu Mogu finally opened its second location in Costa Mesa. Our experience here was amazing 🤩. We loved the whole experience tasting Mazemen 🍜 for the first time. The noodles were thick, chewy and mixed so well with all the other ingredients. Make sure you take a picture of their egg yolks, mix your noodles well before you start eating, and add a scoop of rice near the end of your bowl. Enjoy!! We’re sure you’ll love it here!!!
I love this place! My favorites are the curry mazemen, LA style takoyaki, and mogu chicken. It's perfect to go and always delicious. The price is very reasonable as well. It's in a plaza with other businesses, and the parking lot isn't huge, but I've never had trouble getting a spot. The staff aren't the friendliest when I pick up my order, but it's a short interaction. This is one of my go-to places for easy, delicious takeout.

Found this new restaurant on Yelp and went to try it out during lunch time. I have never tried Mazemen before and this was the best experience. Majority servers speak Japanese, which made me so excited about the authenticity of this place. I ordered the deluxe Mazemen and it comes with two sliced of pork and minced pork. Mazemen is type of dry noodle with very flavorful sauces, which has green onions, soy sauce and other ingredients. Following the nice instructions provided by the server, we mixed the noodle and add a little big vinegar and sesame seed. The noodle was so tasty and we inhaled the whole meal less than 10 minutes. At the end, they will give you a small rice to mix with the sauce. Service is extremely good in this restaurant, servers are smiling and constantly asking about your experience. The soft Takoyaki is just ok, probably no need to order it. Will definitely come back again and again for the Mazemen!!!
The food here is superb! We ordered the Impossible Tokyo Mazemen and MoguMogu chicken. Both are fantastic. I want to talk more about the service. Every time we go here, the owner is always attentive and he genuinely cares for his customers. He also remembers us despite how long ago since the last time we came. The table next to us got a little salty about the waitress taking their left overs after a miscommunication, so he offered to give them a new batch of the same food for them to take home. The level of attention that he gives is admirable. This is a rare quality and it is very much appreciated.
Went to this place twice within a couple days of each other. I tried both the Impossible Tokyo Mazemen and the Vegan Ramen and both were very flavorful and well thought out. The Impossible Tokyo comes with impossible meat, which was cooked and flavored perfectly. I’ve never had impossible meat that tastes like that! The Vegan Ramen was one of the best vegan ramens I have had and I love that it had a creamy broth with noodles cooked just how I like. Service was also exceptional, our server Marcie was very attentive and accommodating, and they even turned on the outdoor heaters for our party. Highly recommend!
Delicious food & service! The owners are so nice and make small talk. My friend and I got the Deluxe Mazemen - don't forget to get rice after you finish your noodles! We also got the Mogu Chicken, which is perfectly fried and includes yummy sauce. Cannot wait to come back and try other mazemens!
This is my favorite restraunt right now. The impossible mazemen is out of this world. I love that they have vegan options, meat options for the carnivores in my life, and beer. Management does an excellent job making sure everyone dining is satisfied. The staff is always diligently working hard. I can't give enough praise to this place. It gets super busy but the wait is well worth it and they are very attentive to the waiting list making sure they are updating it to seat everyone as fast as possible.
Wonderful experience! Be sure to get your name on the waitlist outside as soon as you can, as this place gets busy. Their noodles are incredibly fresh, and the chew is the right amount of texture. Flavors are also on point.
Never eaten Mazemen before so I got the deluxe. The flavour is amazing and the umami vinegar they provide is great too. They also give a small scoop of rice at the end.
Nothing negative to say about this joint. If you live in the area and like noodles—this is an absolute must. I’d never tried mazemen before this, but I am hooked now. Wait times can be a bit long at this location, but well worth it.
The place is a small eatery in a strip mall. There was small wait to get seated. We were really impressed with the polite and attentive servers. We had the veggie mazemen and the curry mazemen. They were delish…they also provide a small ball of rice at the end to scoop up the remaining sauce…
So unique and tasty. The noodles are bouncy in your mouth and the sauce is rich and layered with their house vinegar you would be amazed! I had the best dining experience here as well. The gem in OC for Ramen 100%. Would go back anytime I crave for some Ramen!
First time I tried Mazemen (Abura Soba) was in Shinjuku neighborhood of Tokyo and it was phenomenal. This place reminds me of those delicious noodles I had back in Japan! Recommend an extra side of spicy chili to give your bowl the perfect kick 🌶️
Mogu Mogu is a soupless ramen place. The concept is to mix the noodles with all the toppings very well. They have several types of options all extremely delicious. Their side dishes are excellent to try with a cold beer. They also have regular soup ramen such as spicy miso and tonkatsu as well. One of my favorite parts is that they give you a rice ball to mix with the left over soup of your mazemen. It gives it an absolute delicious taste and texture to finish up your mazemen bowl. I highly recommend Mogumogu to anyone wanting to try some new style of fine Japanese cuisine!!
First time having mazemen, but I thought the deluxe mazemen was very good. I recommend mixing it up and tasting first, then adding vinegar and sesame seed to your taste. I'll probably ask for less green onion next time. The takoyaki LA style was also quite tasty. Overall great experience and will be back. We got there around 5:30pm on a Thursday and there was no wait, so I can't comment on the wait time during peak dining hours.
Got the Tokyo Mazeman regular everything (garlic, etc) and it was AMAZING. Glad they gave rice for the end because I wanted to soak up the leftover sauce and chives. Also, adding their house vinegar really makes the mazeman and cuts into the oils of the sauce - highly recommend. The regular Tokyo version has a small kick, so I also had their draft Asahi to make the experience just right.
We found Mogumogu by accident and I am so glad we did. Unique flavors and great service. It was so good it made me want to move to Costa Mesa
What a wonderful place to spend time with friends! Our mazemen were all luxurious combinations of delicate flavors, without any one spice or sauce too strong. It was a pleasure to have such a quality Japanese culinary experience. If only you were closer to my house! Hats off to our waitress Hannah!! --or was it Hana? :-) You really listened to our questions, went and asked requests for us, and gave us a quality experience without rushing or pressing us.
Fantastic bowl of noodles if you’re feeling something a bit different from a bowl of ramen. Great service but limited seating inside and outside. Karaage is a great way to start your meal. Make sure to get your cup of rice to add to your bowl to mix in the remaining yolk sauce mixture along with their vinegar mix. One of my favorite place in all of OC.
Sat right away, was doted on by multiple servers who had great recommendations, the food was incredible and affordable. Will absolutely be coming back here routinely. 10/10 noods my dudes
I recently visited Mogumogu, a Japanese restaurant that specializes in mazemen ramen, during lunchtime, about half an hour after they opened to avoid the crowd. Within an hour of our arrival, the restaurant was packed, which shows how popular this place is. The restaurant is located in a small plaza and has limited seating inside and outside, which gives it a casual and laid-back vibe. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the Mogu chicken, takoyaki (both Osaka and LA styles), Deluxe mazemen, and Curry. The Mogu chicken was a standout dish for its huge, crispy, and flavorful goodness. The LA style takoyaki was my preferred choice due to its crunchy shell and mushy inside, while the Osaka style was a bit too soft for my taste. The Deluxe mazemen was loaded with toppings, such as seasoned minced pork and poached egg. The waitress was kind enough to give us instructions on how to eat the mazemen to get the most flavor out of it, which was also posted on the wall. The portion size was generous, and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting, so I had to take it home. Even after reheating it, the mazemen was still delicious, although I had to add some sauce/water as it had evaporated in the microwave. For the price, the dining experience at Mogumogu was well worth it. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I highly recommend this place and can see why it gets so crowded during peak hours. If you're planning to visit, it's best to arrive early or be prepared to wait for a table.
the curry mazemen is a burst of flavor and a bold Asian claim that they dont need to cater to Western audience assari tonkotsu ramen is almost as spectacular with the soup, the ramen strings, and the boiled eggs show how much authenticity they put in, just need to up level with the tonkotsu a bit
Our waitress was amazing noticed when we ran low on the drinks recommended a really good sake First time being there and felt welcomed Was there for a celebration so it was great 👍🏽
I came early around 5:15pm for a weekend dinner. There is more parking than i expected behind the building. The waiters were attentive in refilling my water and checked in to see if i was doing ok. Otherwise, the food (vegan mazemen) was filling and they provide some rice to top off with the sauce. I would definitely come here again.
This has been on my list forever and I decided last minute while i was off my diet to come here. It's a very small place and it got crowded real quick. Definitely come here early cuz you'll have to wait for a table. I did remember that you can't adjust the spiciness to your bowl so be aware if you're sensitive to the heat. I got the Deluxe and it was everything I imagined it to be. They gave a cute mini ball of rice at the end to soak up the leftover yummy sauce. I took the rest home, the bowl is very heavy and I just couldn't finish it but it's okay because I looked forward to eating it the next day.
It's a small place, about 8 tables inside and a couple of seats out front. The main draw is the Japanese dry noodle bowls and appetizers (tapas). Very well seasoned and the handful of steamed rice at the end is a very well planned idea for soaking up the delicious gravy
Went around 530 with 2 other friends on a sunday. There sometimes is wait or others not. Food comes out pretty quickly. Price of food is really good for the taste and portion size they offer, which I think is the main reason I keep returning to the restaurant. These days, you can't really get this satisfactory meal at this price anywhere near irvine. I really love their Tokyo mazeman. My friend got their tonkotsu ramen, and they said it had a very clean pork taste and was very good (soup was a little salty, but he really enjoyed his meal).
Extremely good ramen. I got the spicy one with a seaweed salad and was amazed at how good it was. I think it may be the best I've had. Friend of mine was raving abt it and I totally get why.
I came in with high expectations and they were met! The mazemen here is amazing! It's not cheap, but I definitely think it's worth every penny. I love the three-stage experience of eating the mazemen dish. First, we mixed it and enjoyed all the flavors present in the bowl. I was overwhelmed (in a good way) by the amount of different toppings and flavors. Then, we added the vinegar after finishing half the bowl. This was my favorite part. It added a new dimension to the flavor in a very refreshing way. By the time we were halfway done, the umami of the dish sat heavy on our palette so the vinegar cut through nicely. Finally at the end, they gave us a small scoop of rice to absorb and enjoy the remainder of the sauce once the noodles were done. I know I'll return here again in the future!
We almost always order carry-out as the restaurant is tiny and usually has a line. The mazemen is a delicious and unique version of ramen.
After sharing my Ramen obsession, I was recommended Mogu Mogu in Costa Mesa. Turns out that Mogu specializes in Mazemen, not ramen. Mazemen is similar to ramen, but the main difference is that Mazemen is a broth less noodle dish. Since Mogu specializes in Mazemen, I would do myself a disservice if I were to get a ramen instead of their specialty. I am still going to review the relevant components for fun, but it won’t necessarily be comparable to a normal ramen review since I can’t judge the (arguably) most import part of ramen, the broth. Mogu provides a friendly guide on how to eat Mazemen for the uninitiated. How to eat MAZEMEN (Soupless noodles): 1) Snap It! Take a picture of our good looking bowl of Mazemen and share it with your friends! 2) Mix it! Mix really well for about 30 seconds! 3) The better you mix the better it tastes! Umami! About half way done with your bowl, try our homemade Umami vinegar for a new taste! 4) Oi-Meshi! Small scoop of rice will be served at the end to fully enjoy our bowl of Mazemen. The restaurant features a countertop bar with about 8 seats, and a fair amount of tables inside. They also have multiple tables outside including a tent area in the parking lot for additional seating. The menu offers a selection of Mazemen with various toppings, and spice levels. There is a Tonkotsu and Miso ramen for those who want broth with their noodles. They also offer a vegan Mazemen and ramen option. Accompanying these main dishes are some typical Japanese sides and also a happy hour menu. Today, I ordered the deluxe Mazemen, which is their offering with all the toppings, including: Sliced pork chashu, Spicy minced pork, Poached egg, Chives, Minced garlic, Fish powder, Seaweed Soft boiled egg, Seaweed flakes, Scallion. Overall: 8/10. Would recommend. As an overall experience I would certainly recommend Mogu Mogu. The noodles are thick in shape and firm in texture. They provide excellent chew, texture, and still have flavor of their own. Mixed in with the sauces and spices, the end result is a noodle dish with an excellent balance of savory notes from the sauce base and fish powder, and also well balanced flavorful spiciness. I think that overall, the chashu and soft boiled egg in the deluxe bowl is not necessary, so I would recommend the Tokyo style. Near the end of the meal, each order of Mazemen is provided a small serving of white rice served in a ramekin. The intention is to mix the rice with the remaining sauce as a finishing treat. Not only does this provide an interesting texture change from the noodles, it pushes the bowl from filling to very filling.
Wow, the mazeman was amazing. It was our first time trying it and it was so good. The brothless ramen was packed full of flavor. We got the Deluxe with the chasu pork. The shishito peppers were also fantastic as was the takoyaki. It can get crazy busy but the service was fast and they checked on us regularly for refills and what not.
Never had Mazemen before, pretty much it's a dry ramen. Kinda like Chinese Dan Dan noodles. It's good but imo, not special enough to want to eat again. I had the spicy miso ramen, it's not for me, it has a very bonito taste to it. Didn't taste like miso. What's great I felt was the noodles. The ramen was perfectly cooked, so was the noodles in the Mazemen, perfect. The service was great too, hence the 5 stars. Again, overall great but for me, great to try but I wouldn't crave it again
We just keep coming back to this restaurant. Their soupless reman was so good and flavorful. You can mix it with their homemade umami vinegar or sesame in the bowl or just eat it by itself. There is instruction for you to learn how to enjoy the reman. The mogu chicken is the my favorite also. I just noticed there are 2 other locations.
Came around 7 on a Saturday and it was about an hour wait for a party of 2 (there is a written waitlist you sign up on, so no online waitlist!) it moved pretty quick though! Appetizers: - Mogu chicken: their unique take on the usual chicken karaage. It was definitely more crispy than other karaage I’ve had in the past and the sauce on the chicken was so good! - LA takoyaki: we chose LA for the crispiness and man it was the best decision! The crunch was awesome and added so much texture to the flavor. Deluxe mazemen: so much flavor and spice, but beware, it can get heavy. The house vinegar amplified the flavor (and honestly I wish I added it in the beginning versus towards the end). It is very thick and carby bc of the noodles, so you can get desensitized to the entire dish real quick. Service was awesome!! The ladies got things done that night.
We've been here several times and their dry ramen doesn't disappoint! We got the Vegan Tokyo Mazemen and all of the flavors just instantly melt into your mouth. The presentation is fantastic, service is professional, and environment is great. We also tried the mogu chucken and edamame and that didn't disappoint. Overall, one of the best dry ramens we've eaten, so highly recommend!
Can I share something with you? I didn't expect much. Dry ramen? Where's all the flavor going to be? Mazemen 'dry ramen' will open you to a whole new world of ramen. They've only recently opened, but already have lots of regulars (good sign )! I opted for having the Tokyo mazemen. The manager was really nice in explaining how to go thru the experience. 1. Break the egg. 2. Mix the noodles and get a good forearm workout for a solid 30 seconds to a minute (trust me, your tastebuds will thank you) 3. Patience for like 10 seconds before you get to experience the deliciousness that is mazemen. Yum. Maybe crush some fresh sesame seeds after trying the food and continue to enjoy. Wow. Maybe you want to marinade your mazemen with some of their homemade seaweed vinegar for that hit of acidity. Uf. Maybe you still have some of your magical marinade and still have room for more and ask for a small scoop or two of rice. Yikes, and now it's all gone and I wonder where it went. And that's the story of how my wife and I went here twice in a week. Let's go!!
Came in for lunch and there were plenty of tables to sit. I took a bar seat and ordered the Tokyo, being my first time the server Hannah was quite helpful in explaining what the whole experience was like. If you were to forget on the wall the steps were painted with visual aids. The bowl was extremely filling, so do expect to be full and then some. The flavors started from savory, to sour, to all mellowed out by the end. Definitely would recommend if you would like a good filling meal!
I got the deluxe mazeman with melted cheese on top! It was definitely heavier than I expected however after adding their house made vinegar (lots because I love the acidic punch and the lighter taste), I enjoyed the mazeman a lot more. As for the takoyaki, they gave LA or Osaka style. We got the LA street food style and it came out piping hot and perfectly crispy on the outside. The owner wad also present and very helpful and cheerful.
This was such a great experience, my friend who lives in SoCal had been raving about it for months so it was a top priority to try when I arrived. Did not disappoint the delux was delicious and I loved the layers and changing flavors of the dish. It’s huge portions so come with an empty stomach. Adding the vinegar at stage 2 totally changed the flavor profile to a more light and fresh taste and the rice at the end was so comforting soaking up all the umami. AND GET THE KARRAGE CHICKEN it’s so fresh. Will def come back, one of my favorites in SoCal
Very solid mazemen. Good service and were quick to seat us even around noon - 1pm. The noodles were the perfect chewy texture and sauce was super flavorful with the rice to soak up the rest being the finishing touch. Would come again especially when I’m not in the mood for a heavy ramen broth. I would maybe ding a little for my soy egg being a little to hard in the yolk but that’s not a big deal.
We ordered the deluxe, Kyoto and the beef tongue appetizer. Throughout the meal he continuously checked in on us. We were recommended to mix thoroughly and to add in their house made vinegar, that made ALL the difference. At the end of the meal, they brought us out a small portion of rice to mix into our leftover soft. We added in some of our leftover beef tongue appetizer into the rice and wow amazing. I loved my experience, the music and the service. Please do yourself a favor and order the beef tongue!
Delicious mazeman! recently renamed but the menu is the same. The vegan mazeman is my favorite
This was so good! I'm not a vegetarian but surprisingly, I did like the vegetarian mazemen over their deluxe mazemen. I needed more vegetables which the deluxe mazemen lacked a little, though both were good in their own rights. I did a to-go order which took roughly 15 minutes. By 6:45, there were already so many people waiting in line for dinner so I suggest getting there by 5:30 at the latest to avoid the wait. The servers were nice and there is a clipboard to put your name down on the waiting list. The place is a quaint little joint which felt like a small Japanese shop inside. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. This was such a niche and cool find during my yoga trip down the strip!
Craving for ramen and mazemen? I got a place for you! Highlights of the menu: 1. Tokyo mazemen 2. Deluxe mazemen ramen 3. Beef tongue - super tender 4. Mogu chicken 5. Takoyaki 6. Coke - in glass bottle I love ramen but believe it or not, I ate mazemen the first time here! And got impressed of course. So good with all the flavors and the sauce! Then I discovered more on ramens and izakaya dishes and totally fall in love with this place. They also have beer and happy hour!! What else can I ask for?
It was my first time having mazemen. I had the impossible Tokyo version. My family had the regular Tokyo and the curry. We also had the chicken, takoyaki, and strawberry cheesecake. Most everything was good, but the kale overpowered the dishes that included kale. Keep that in mind if you aren’t a fan if kale. I would still recommend.
This bowl was a chaotic mix- but not a mess- of flavours, a thunderous clash of noodles that fade like mist into an unidentifiable soup of flavour- having said this, there is no soup; there is no need for soup, as the noodles are as rich, no, more flavourful than any soup imaginable, golden strands of herb infused texture, they surpass the need for soup as accompaniment, transcend the very concept of soup itself. The heartiness of a good winter soup, savoury flavour of a medium rare steak, and easy-go-down fun of a tapioca drink are all here in the noodle and its uniquely crafted sauce. There is a special method for eating these noodle bowls: first, the bowls are brought, toppings perfectly placed, portioned artistically like the carved clifface of Rushmore, softboiled eggwhite slathered, crowning the hill of green onion and tumble of meats like snowcapped mountain peaks. Enjoy its serene beauty while it lasts; in the next moment you must inundate it with your own hands, stir it apart into an unrecognizable whirlpool of meats and vegetables, wrench it so mercilessly that all ingredients blend into one freeform mesh, as meat tears and golden yolk runs, jumbled and improvised but the final calm after the storm perfectly portioned and planned; the end result is a fantastic savoury extract, an absolutely supreme umami slam finally ready to eat. Head empty, I simply consumed. The thick noodles didn't feel overbearing at all- it was as if its diameter didn't exist, its thickness irrelevant, imaginary. The nori was a nice touch- always a great accompaniment to any oily carb. The final step in the eating ritual was greatly appreciated; an extra tiny scoop of rice brought just when you're nearing the end of your meal, to mix into your bowl and sponge up all of the dripping sauces, flakes, and flavours, was the perfect light breeze, the rainbow topping off a great meal. Service was great and the prices were fair. I got the deluxe, which was a little pricey at ~$17, but you won't be missing out with any of Mogu Mogu's options. It has been a while since I had so simply accepted and enjoyed the flavour of a meal. 7.8/10.
gf + vegan options!! so grateful that they provide these on their menu. the vegan mazemen was awesome. also, you can order a sour by playing a dice game and i won a free one. i think it's generous that they offer a free drink as one of the prizes. the sudachi and yuzu flavors are delicious and not too sweet.
Previously branded as Mogu Mogu, now WADAYA. Minimal wait for a late lunch on a weekend, was able to sit outside, feel it would have been a bit loud inside. Ordered the curry mazemen, arrived relatively quickly. The bowl had a good variety of flavors, and the noodles had a good chewiness. There's vinegar and sesame seeds available at the table. They also provide a small amount of rice afterwards to help finish the leftover sauce/liquid.
I ordered the bowl of noodles with ground chicken and it was good. The waitress was helpful in explaining how to eat it with vinegar and a lil rice bowl at the end to finish up the sauce! Service was quick and the restaurant was clean.
The mazemen is really good, especially the Saitama one and for any of the mazemen it’s so cute that they give you a small scoop of rice after you finish your noodles to finish up the leftover sauce in the bowl. The shop runs on the smaller side, but still has decent amount of seating, including outdoor seating.
This was only the 2nd time we've eaten mazemen and first time here. Decided to brave this location for dinner at 615pm, on a Sunday during last weekend of our daughters' spring break. Waited for over 1hr. Many guests were lingering and socializing for quite some time after completing their meals, knowing that there has been a long waitlist. Staff were trying to hint but were unsuccessful. The best time with little wait was at 800pm. We got 3 deluxe, assari tonkotsu, LA style takoyaki 3.5*, and mogu chicken 3.5*. The bowl presentations were great. Were the noodles fresh made? 🤔 cuz it almost seemed like fresh...or perhaps I was just too hungry after a long wait. Sauce was tasty but I couldn't finish it with the finale of rice scope as the tradition dictates. Perhaps too much sake and appetizers. Overall, 4*. I would have preferred the chashu be at least a little charred or flamed. Unclear whether we'll return next time and brave the wait.

For vegetarian families: My family and I dined in, and the wait was about 30 mins, and food came around in 30 mins after the order. I would say , for a warm Saturday afternoon, this is reasonable wait. The vegan ramen and mazemen were delicious. The sake went well with the food. The matcha chessecake is kid approved , though i am not a fan of bittersweet desserts:)
All I have to say is feels slightly bad to have the waiter announce to the next table that they're out of takoyaki, only minutes later to have our order or takoyaki be served and the waiter coming back to let them know we were the last takoyaki order filled... way to throw me under the bus a little. JK It was already late when we were seated, they were packed so we were kind of lucky we squeaked in before last calls. We were able to get our food, eat in in lightning speed before they closed. The food itself was pretty good, we ordered the mogu chicken, deluxe mazemen, and takoyaki. Mazemen was slightly on the spicier side so just know your spice tolerance. mogu chicken was just kind of like karaage and wasn't too special. While we were eating and trying to not prevent the staff from waiting too long to close, I assume the owners came in and got a table because as we were leaving, they were corking a bottle of red wine to start off a dinner party. Who knows, it could be just another group, but judging by casual pacing, I'm guessing it was some form of relation to the restaurant.
Nothing like a bowl of ramen to sweeten up your work week, this unassuming strip mall off Fairview RD wouldn’t have had me double taking at all if it were not for the guarantee of a nice hot bowl of mazemen. After scoping out the menu beforehand, I was pretty excited after their brief description over what a mazemen bowl expectation would be along with the genuine care from the curated chef. Super cozy spot, with a few tables inside and a self comstructed “patio” seating just at the front. We arrived as they were just opening for the day and within a couple minutes the little spot was filling up quite quickly. Service was decently friendly, and food came out quickly! Deluxe - ($16.50) - Their all together protein which consisted of slices of chashu, and minced pork. The duo egg combo, poached and soft boiled and the rest of the typical ramen toppings. The noodles were a new one for me, unique. Super bouncy and starchy, consistency came towards the familiarity of udon noodles but thinner. Perfectly sized and textured to pick up the sauces from the fat and eggs and sauces of this bowl. The sauce itself was a dark onion caramelized gravy, it literally coated every inch of noodles as you mixed the bowl. The touch of vinegar added the acidity to really balance out the heartiness of the bowl. Towards the end they’ll walk by and give you a side of rice to mix with the rest of the sauce remaining and no matter how full you are, JUST DO IT. It's SO good. Overall this was a super satisfying meal, I really loved the flavors and the heartiness of it. Totally recommend.
The ambiance is casual dining and there is outdoor seating if interested. Ordered the deluxe mazemen and it is pretty filling. Once served at your table, mix the mazemen and enjoy! Similar to dan dan noodles and the vinegar added had a nice kick to it. Worth a try and if I'm in the area, i'll try the other mazemen.
Very delicious. A bit salty..but I think that's what makes the dish savory and flavorful. The workers were kind . Food came out a bit late but it's okay. They also did forget our hot sake but it's alright because they gave it on the house. I really liked this noodle mazemen restaurant and I would definitely add their house vinegar in the dish. 🍴🍽🥢🥰😍🤩
I'm so happy I finally got to try this place on a slow day. I've been dragging my feet to get out here bc I was simply lazy to drive or deal with any type of wait. The day I do finally try it is the day I ride my bicycle 11 miles to get there. Who am I kidding, a car would've been much faster and this took wayyy more effort than driving. Anyway, I made it. I was seated immediately. My server, Lisa was great. I don't like make decisions and I always have others do it if possible or ask for suggestions. When the server actually seems like they're engaging and attentive asking questions it's a plus. I went with a beer, the beef tongue and deluxe. She checked on me often and walked me through it. Through what you ask? Apparently, this is a soupless ramen. You toss it in the base on the bottom of the bowl. When you get 2/3rds of the way to the bottom you add vinegar. At 10-5% left you add a rice toss it and eat it. Like honestly... I never would've known hahaha I appreciate her attentiveness and now I can guide people in the future. I was super full and everything was tasty. I'll definitely be back.
Okay wait times, Service was great, the rice at the end was probably the highlight of the meal. It's worth the try for mazemen if you haven't had a chance to eat this style of ramen. Ended up getting the deluxe with added cheese and extra hot sauce. Karaage chicken - hot & juicy, crispy & saucy i think for whatever reason the kitchen may have messed up the order and forgotten some key components maybe soy sauce, the mazmen ended up feeling kinda bland for me. with that said I would go back to try it again.

Good food, lots of flavor packed into a bowl. Price feels a little on the high side considering the mediocre service and ambiance, but the food is the driving force here. I've seen lines on weekends, so they are obviously doing something right. I've enjoyed eating at the bar more than at the tables, but that is more service-related. When we're in the area, it's a solid option.
I find my experience here at Mogu Mogu to be quite sub-par. The two things I had from the menu were the deluxe mazemen and the mogu chicken. Deluxe Mazemen: I must say the texture of the noodles is outstanding. They were chewy and soft, probably the best thing about this dish. However, once mixed, the whole dish becomes overly salty. Although there is a spicy minced pork mixture, I could not taste it at all. I think the fish umami they put in the dish and the seaweed flakes completely overtake the flavor of the other ingredients. To sum up, it was salty with a strong seafood-y aroma that I didn’t expect. Mogu Chicken: I love this dish. It tastes exactly like Korean yangnyeom-style fried chicken. It comes with a spicy mayo aioli dipping sauce that complements the chicken well. Overall, the food is decent but nothing to write home about.
Walking in I had high hopes. It looked nice and the service was great. I came at exactly 11:30. I ordered the deluxe mazenmen and the tonkotsu ramen. They came out and oh my god. The tonkotsu ramen was far too salty like I’m a person who LOVES sodium but the broth? It was so salty it masked the flavor of tonkotsu. My brother really liked it though, but he’s the type to drink soy sauce. I had the deluxe mazenmen and it might just be me personally but I disliked it. It was creamy but the noodles were too tough. Like biting into it, it broke off too late; however, taste wise, my opinion on the mazenmen can’t be very helpful because I didn’t use the vinegar provided with the mazenmen. I found myself confused eating both dishes because at least one thing threw off it’s flavor: too much salt, too much oil. The mazenmen was ok on saltiness but the oil was crazy, I couldn’t even taste the egg yolk. The food here is definitely not the best, but if you do go here, order the takoyaki. That thing is the best I’ve ever had, and get it crispy. Service is amazing, they are completely aware of the customers and their potential needs. At the end of the service they gave us a coin for the gachapon which I thought was really cute. Also another thing to note the chef might be different and that may influence the flavor of the ramen. Overall if you want to try it go for it but just know that the food might taste off.
Food: 3.5/5 Service and Setting: 3/5 Value: 2/5 Mogu Mogu is one of those hyped restaurants that I am skeptical of. The plaza that it is in gets busy and it might get hard to find parking. Come early as you can because they seem to be always busy! Going in, the servers are all very nice and attentive but something shocking to me was how dirty the restaurant was. The sesame seed grinders were covered in gunk and the rays of sunlight showed dust in the hard to reach places on the barstools. My food came out pretty slowly and the servers knew when to bring out the last bite of rice. Overall, the hype is not here. Mogu Chicken: 3/5 The waitress helping me out hyped up this chicken and I will say that it is meh or at least not my style. The chicken had a coating similar to karaage but a bit crispier. The sauce on the chicken is very similar to a Korean gochujang sauce and eh, it was just a bit boring. Even when I eat Korean fried chicken, I prefer plain or soy glazes over the more traditional gochujang and Mogu’s take on it was uninspiring. The side of spicy mayo they serve was good and had a good bit of tartness to help brighten the dish. I would skip. Deluxe Mazemen: 3.5/5 I was so hyped to try this and I was wondering how it could be bad. While it was not bad, it was not that good really. I can see how average Americans would really enjoy this as it looks very “authentic” yet tastes very mild. The thick ramen noodles had a texture similar to udon but with that sort of sulfurous bite you get from typical ramen noodles. The flavor of everything after it has been mixed up is generally savory, but the strongest note is fish powder. If you ever had tsukemen, dipping ramen, you will recognize the smokey oceany flavor immediately. The vinegar also is very mild and does admittedly have a slight umami taste, but nothing to write home about. It does help add another dimension to the mazemen but overall everything is just sort of bland. There is depth of flavor but what does depth do if it doesn’t taste like anything? I wanted to taste something so bad but just ended up eating thick noodles in a thick sauce. I will admit that the boiled egg they serve was cooked to perfection, the main star of the meal. The rice they give is literally 1 bite. I am not sure if the rice is supposed to be really overcooked but I did enjoy it; it gave me congee vibes. I am not an expert on Japanese food let alone mazemen, but I was definitely hoping for a concentrated noodle adventure seeing how strongly flavored tsukemen is. Pretty, approachable, but falls flat.

I got the deluxe mazemen and overall felt the dish was disapointing. The chashu wasn't very flavorful, and just couldn't compete with the chashu at most other ramen places in the area. while the soft boiled eggs were done well, I was disappointed they were not soy eggs. they were done well though. Personally I felt the broth wasn't thick enough and didn't stick to the noodles well. So the dish lacked flavor until you got towards the end and were able to eat more of the broth. However, the two people I was with seemed to disagree, so maybe it just wasn't for me.
6/30/24 - Something changed.. We have been frequent here for the Deluxe Mazeman, however, the noodle texture was off and something wasn't right.. Shortly after, we didn't feel right.. Long story short.. It was agreed that we wouldn't be back in the future. Reduced 5 star to 3 star. 1/23/2022 - Deluxe Mazeman.. look at the picture, need I say more?? 1/9/2022 - First time... went for broke and ordered the Deluxe. I mixed the egg that made all the sauces to bind onto the ramen.. then the vinegar.. I tried 2 scoops with my spoon.. was an interesting spin but I rather not have it.. Lastly.. Why don't everyone give rice like they so... all the sauce.. on rice to finish the meal.. Very well done. Although, I waited longer than I should have.. I will give them a mulligan for packing other people's to go first and let my order sat on the counter.
The noodles were very salty. The karaage chicken were the same taste as the frozen fried chicken from Costco, not worth trying. The Takoyaki is the same level as the karaage chicken, it came to table not even hot, I think it’s the premade frozen takoyaki too, probably from some Japanese market. Also it takes 40mins to get in the restaurant ಠ_ಠ
The food is good, five star quality. been coming here multiple times. There is one lady server with terrible attitude that just made our experiences bad taste to the mouth. We had a pregnant lady in the party and they said they can make a hard boil to accommodate. They in the end didn’t get it right and came out to complain to us why they couldn’t make a hard boil egg…? A restaurant? It was just bad attitude while talking to us. Wish I can give a negative star for service qualify
Stood at the entrance for over 10 minutes waiting to pick up my food, while another customer was also waiting with only a glass of water. During this whole time, the waitress ignored us and gave zero updates about our orders — yet she was actively serving other guests who arrived later. The difference in how we were treated was obvious and unacceptable. It felt discriminatory, and the service was extremely poor.
Not sure if we went at a bad time but this was the worst ramen/mazemen I've ever had. I don't think anything was fresh except for the eggs. The noodles were undercooked and wasn't mixed properly which made it so they were stuck together. Didn't take picture but here was the green onion - looks like it's been left out overnight
