Love the skewers here (lamb, beef and eggplant are some of our favorites) and come pretty often (almost once a week). The food is really good, the restaurant is laid back and casual, and the value is good (def one of the cheaper eats in the area). I’m surprised by some of the other reviews, we come so often and that’s not been my experience- def recommend trying if you haven’t.
Of all the Chinese restaurants I've been to in the Bay, Seattle, and Illinois, this is the one that makes YangZhou fried rice the best. Ignore the negative reviews, bc ppl should be eating for food quality & taste, not other restaurant considerations.
Came here with a group of 8+ and the staff was very accommodating. At first it was difficult they moved tables for us even though the shop is small. If you do go please keep that in mind, its only good for groups of 4-5 max. I like the lamb a lot really tasty the food is slightly on the greasey side. Overall good deal 👌.
Great place if you’re vegetarian, they have plenty of options for you! There was a small wait in the afternoon, but the service is speedy. You order from your phone and they bring out the dishes periodically as they get prepared, so you can keep ordering as you’re being served. The buns are very tasty and sweet. Also this is one of the only bbq places where I’ve gotten to try chives.
This place is always packed, and yet it gets pretty bad reviews. I'm absolutely convinced it's a conspiracy by the regulars to scare away newcomers, because it's already way over capacity. Trust me, the skewers here are fantastic. But don't bother with anything else. The skewers are the main attraction. Don't waste precious empty space in your stomach on their side dishes when you could be stuffing your gob with even more skewers.
Phenomenal lamb skewers... The owners are so legit to a degree where you just know they are preparing the food with heart. It looks like a family-run business but everyone is absolutely focused on delivering the best lamb and other skewers with pride. The food is phenomenal and the price is completely reasonable. A glass of beer, 3~4 skewers, and some buns... this is the definition of a heavenly weekend. The only issue is the long endless waiting. We avoided this by going near the closing time. But this place is absolutely the best in what they do.
Very tasty and satisfying! We ordered multiples times for take out and every time we enjoyed their skewers. Delicious sauce, not very spicy. I’d recommend to order earlier since it usually took longer time to deliver from this place than others.
Authentic northwest Chinese style BBQ. Taste wonderful. The service need to be improved a little bit. 好吃到高潮。服务需改进。
This chinese bbq place in Cupertino is so bomb 🔥🔥 very authentic, they cook skewers inside and drop on your plate. Goes perfectly with beer.

Very very authentic Northeastern food. The best I ever had in southern bay area. I wish they open during lunch hour even without BBQ so I can come more.
IMPORTANT- you need to try their Lion’s head clay pot! Total surprise, but they said one of their best sellers! Been coming here a long time for their Beijing-style skewers — super flavorful and spicy, just the right amount of char. But the surprise was the lion’s head clay pot. Honestly one of the best things I’ve had in a while. The broth is super rich and savory, and the meatballs just fall apart in the best way. Cabbage and glass noodles soaked up all the flavor. Didn’t expect it to be that good. Totally worth the extra drive. Would come back just for that clay pot alone.
No idea what makes their BBQ so good, but it's amazing enough to make you crave it regularly, especially when watching Cdramas that show people eating grilled skewers!! I wish they sold their seasoning blend. Everything there is delicious. Everything.
Asian style skewers that were super delicious. There were also side dishes you can order. The lamb skewer is a must as well as the enoki bacon. Corn was a bit dry. Service was good. They took our order while we waited outside and it wasn't a long wait after we were sat. Be prepared to wait a bit as this place seems super popular.
Quite popular and the quality and the flavor deserve their reputation. I feel like the skewers are exactly the same as those one I had back in China when I was in school. The night schedule starts at 5, so if you comes on the clock you don't need to wait and can be seated right away!
Love the bbq eggplant, squid, toast, bacon enoki. Tempura is great too! 🍆 The sweet and sour pork is alright - it wasn't tomato based like I thought

Food: 5 stars, delicious! Environment: small and need to improve a lot. Service: busy time skewers only can order one time.

Come here once in a while, always enjoy the BBQ with very rich spices such as cumin. There are quite a few BBQ vegetables, mushrooms, bean curd skin. The BBQ toast is special, and the tofu with spring onions (cilantro and chives) are delicious. It made up a good balance between meat and vegetables, plus there are other non BBQ choices such as appetizers, dumplings and fried rice.
My wife loves the food it so it gets bonus points. And the front girl mia is cute and the staff always friendly and helpful.
Place is a little small, so make sure to come before it gets busy. Good food, easy to order, comes out quickly.

It was pretty good, the quantity was great. The meat on the skewer were big pieces we ordered too much. We usually go to Homey Skewers in Santa Clara / San Jose area but wanted to try out this place. I think the quality of homey skewer was better. The food here was a bit too salty and over seasoned. But I would probably come here again because of the proximity as well as quantity of food. Next time I go I'd get less :)
Fantastic cheap eats! The scallion pancakes, garlic pea shoots, soup dumpling and beef noodle soup were great. If I lived in Cupertino I would eventually eat through the entire menu. I would definitely go back.
Forget everything else. The lamb skewers are absolutely amazing. Had the most terrible service ever and service wise it really deserves a one star, but man, the lamb. The lamb just makes up for it. Just really wish they had better service. Try to avoid peak hours, the waiting line gets pretty insane. I am craving for that lamb already. The skewers can get a bit heavy but really worth to try it.
2026-1-4 Still enjoyed. --------- 2025 Enjoyed the meal. Will return.
Lamb skewer are awesome! Overall the BBQ sauce and cunmin are good, which made everything tasty. However, the service is somewhat slow, we waited for almost half an hour until first dish is ready.
Food was amazing. It hit the spot. I thought the corn Was way over cooked I didn’t really eat it. Food was a little expensive. It’s like 2.99 for 1 meat skewer. I thought maybe you at least get 2. It cost me $15 for all you see in the photo and I’m still hungry.I also didn’t like they didn’t take credit cards. It’s only cash or Venmo. So watch out if you don’t have either.
The food quality at this place has gone downhill unfortunately. Used to be our favorite skewer / chuaner place in the entire bay Area but the recent visit left me unimpressed. The mantou was coated with sugar while the beef / lamb skewers lacked flavor and lukewarm. Guo Bao Rou remained solid though.
Stick with the skewers! We really enjoyed the lamb and beef kebabs. The pig skin was a pleasant surprise and I'd highly recommend it. The BBQ bun was crisp and sweet! However, other dishes were merely okay. The spicy veggies (麻辣烫) was a big let down: leafy greens were a bit over cooked and lost the texture. The broth was neither spicy nor flavorful which were supposed to be the hallmark of this dish. Servers seemed to be more attentive to non-Asian guests, which was a bit ironic.

The Good: We ordered beef, chicken, tofu skins, chicken skin (not crispy as expected), corn on cob, mushrooms, croak (fish), lamb and steamed buns skewers. Prices are reasonable ($1.99 up per skewer). Ordering is a breeze (just scan the barcode at your table). Foods/meats are smoky, flavourful and delicious. Service is fast and prompt (they brought our orders within 5mins of each other). The NotSoGood: There are only a handful of tables in the restaurant, so go early (preferably before 12 Noon). They marinaded all the skewers with the same spices, so after a while, they all tasted the same. I would prefer some of the dishes to be with just salt and peppers. Take away: Think of this as the Chinese's version of Spanish tapas. There are also larger dishes to order, but we stayed with the skewers and were filled. Our bill came to $70 for 3 people (tips and tax included).

Went with friends on a late Thursday night around 9:45pm. The place was almost packed with only one table left for us. We were seated immediately. The tables are pretty close to each other since this is a tiny restaurant. Remember we are only here for their food on a late night, so don't expect more from them. We ordered the lamb, beef, squid, a vegetable, yam, buns, cold noodles and beef shank. Cold noodles and a vegetable were my favorite. The kabobs were tasty, not spicy at all. Service was mediocre as all other Chinese restaurants, yet as I said before, just came for food.
The price is very reasonable. It is very tinny and crowded. The Waite time is very long, which means that it is very popular. Be prepared waiting for 30min to 1 hour. Service speed is ok today. BBQ is ok for my taste, but the noodles are too salty and oily for me. Since I was from southern part of Chine, I would pick dim sum rather than BBQ.

I'm not a new customer, instead I return to this place regularly, mainly because there aren't much options in the bay for Chinese Type BBQ. Their food are not bad, they can definitely be a good option when craving for. However, I never enjoy dine-in at this place. Not because of the atmosphere or the service, it's because of the way they are asking for TIP. This restaurant is one of those which breaks what it means by TIP. They will always try to tell you that the demand a minimum of 15% tip, regardless of how you feel about your experience. Just today I intentionally left a 10% tip because I feel so horrible for the way they ask for it. To the owner of this restaurant, you better fix this situation as soon as you can, otherwise you are throwing away your business by just bad employees practices. I will continue to support when I can, ONLY because of the food. And I'm willing to revise my rating if I notice the situation improves.
Worst bbq ever! The food tastes like chewy rubber. Every item tastes the same-same seasoning, same flavor. Veg or non veg. I picked up. They pack veg and non veg all together in one cheap box. No napkins, dips, nothing. Never returning and don’t recommend!
DO NOT GO! Don't waste your money there. TERRIBLE tastes and super oily and everything is same taste with a lot of sugar. Many dishes that suppose to be salty but all taste like dessert. It's nothing like what a real BBQ you will have in China. And this place has very bad service. The servers are not friendly at all. Me and my friends ordered many dishes and most of are inedible. We end up wasted a lot of food and money. I will give a navigate 5 starts if there is a way to do it.
The restaurant is small, the wait was long. I got food poisoning here after getting the BBQ OYSTERS. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOLE IN THE WALL. Unsanitary also I do not trust this place I was sick for 2 days after eating here. I am Chinese and appalled that they served me food items that were not fresh, I would assume everything is not fresh and some of the items are fake and bought for cheaper than other places. I’m sure there are rubber and flour in the meats like they serve in China. I am sorry I do not recommend at all.
The sanitary conditions in the restaurant make me worried as the plastic bowls and spoons look like they have been used for thousands of years without their original white color(which has become black). I found there was non-washed food in both bowls. The food has already dried on it. When the food was brought to the table, the mutton and chicken offal tasted very un-fresh and smelled bad. The worst thing is the spicy hotpot. The food tasted terrible. The traditional dish MALATANG hot spicy pot is different from other Chinese restaurants. It is all vegetable and tastes like pig food(Taste just like vegetables in a little spicy water). when I asked them why they didn't explain initially it is different from the traditional MALATANG spicy hot spot(name is MALATANG), they said they are a BBQ restaurant and their spicy hot pot is just like this. The vegetables tasted very bitter, I was wondering if they didn’t wash the vegetables so we could taste the pesticide., or if the vegetables had already rotten and they didn’t take out the rotten parts. I got a diarrhea at home few hours later. The restaurant never wash their dishes before they give them to the next customers and don’t wash their vegetables. I will never go to this restaurant again.
