Tried Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles and honestly… solid spot. The thin noodles surprised me super chewy with great strength even though they’re thin. Respect to the noodle puller because that texture was on point. The soup was flavorful and came with that classic Lanzhou level grease, which sounds intense but actually keeps the broth hot and satisfying. Spice level was perfectly balanced not trying to end your day, but just enough to wake up your taste buds. Also tried the thick noodles from the chili oil bowl strong, super chewy, and full of character. Basically the noodle equivalent of someone who works out legs every day. Overall, this place is a legit hand-pulled noodle fix. Great texture, great flavor, great heat. Definitely coming back whenever that Lanzhou noodle craving hits.
Very friendly and great service along with good food. We ordered both the langzhu hand pulled noodles which came with thin slices of pork. We also ordered the beef with pickled vegetables which we think has more flavor than the other dish. But both were excellent and the bowls were very large and came to our table a few minutes after we ordered. Service was exceptional with the staff asking several times if we needed anything else. The bathroom was very clean as well. We highly recommend this place.
Really great noodles, especially the wide ones. Loved the lamb chow mein and the chili oil noodles with stewed beef are amazing. Noodles are very long and irregular. Delicious! Admittedly, the one in San Mateo is somewhat better (noodles feel more freshly boiled), but this is a great stop for the area.
Ox 9 in Cupertino is consistent in quality with all other locations I've tried. I always enjoy the Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles for their noodle texture and broth flavor--incredibly soothing and satisfying. Looking forward to visiting this location more as the weather cools down 🙂↕️
God. I'm still dreaming about these noodles. The portions are gigantic, so I took home half of my plate to eat at lunch the next day, but I couldn't stop thinking about the noodles, so I just ate them that same night. My friends complained about the lack of meat in the dishes, and I agree with them, but the flavors are just amazing. 10/10. The attention was also really good. I definitely recommend this place. It has become one of my favorites.
Feb 2024 update The more I try this place, the more I realize how amazing the food is. Granted I already gave four stars in my Aug 1023 review, but after trying the lamb dishes, wow. Five stars. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aug 2023 We ordered the following: Cold noodles with chicken slices (medium round noodle) and Lanzhou hand pulled noodles (belt wide noodles) You can select the noodle size, which has a big impact on the look of the dish (keep in mind when assessing the pics) and the dining experience. The belt wide noodles are literally the width of a belt. They're delicious but because of the width and length of the noodles, it requires additional handling to eat -- nothing major. But if you're famished, id suggest a smaller noodle for faster eating. The food was delicious. It didn't seem too salty. The ambience was clean but no frills, except for the map of the silk road which was educational. If you like simple yet delicious food (and geography), check out Ox 9.
Their hand made noodles are really good. Soup is also very good. Meat is so so in terms of quality and quantity. Seevice is excellent. Cannot ask more.
Came here on a Saturday night at 5:15 and there was no wait so this was a super great and fast experience. I've been wanting to come here for a while now so I'm glad that I could come. Good: The place has many noodle options and the food comes out quickly after you order from a QR code. I really liked my chili oil wide noodle dish - it was tasty and wasn't actually that spicy so my weak spice tolerance could still handle it. It was also just so tasty and I was surprised at how tasty it was given the limited ingredients. The wide noodles are so chewy. I also really liked the chili wontons since they had a similar taste as the chili oil noodles. Bad: The noodles are so long that you have to cut it up a bit yourself because if you took a whole noodle, it would be so long that it gets a bit messy. The stewed lamb noodles are a bit bland. Overall would come again! I really love noodles and this place delivered on yummy noodles and great texture and fast service.
Pretty excellent soup broth! I ordered the Classic Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles with Small Flat Noodles. I was shocked by how well the noodles were able to soak up the flavorful broth. Very hearty and filling, the beef slices were so tender and the noodles weren't too doughy! I definitely recommend the flat noodles, and you can watch the noodle chef prepare the noodles and knead dough in the open kitchen as well. That's as fresh as it gets! I will note that the amount of chili oil they add is not consistent across the board. It was quite noticable that my broth was significantly more red than others at my table. They also advertise at their front door that they are featured in the Michelin Guide, so that's pretty note worthy! KEEP IN MIND: Indoor dining only, or you can order on their self service kiosk for takeout! Most tables inside are suited for parties of 6 people or less. You may need to consult with the hostess if you plan to bring a lot of people.
I really enjoyed the food here! I got the medium round Lanzhou hand pulled noodles. My friend got the wide noodles in the beef and pickled vegetable broth which were also good. I really liked the appetizers too like the pig ear, basil chicken, fried bread, and especially the wonton in chili oil. The chili oil here isn't very spicy so don't worry if you don't have a high spice tolerance. Food also arrived super fast.
I love this place. Between this location and the Milpitas one (now closed), I must have gone like 50 times in 4 years. My usual order is the Lanzhou beef handpulled noodles and popcorn chicken. I’ve tried others but this is my favorite. The quantity of the beef may not be much, but I’m ok with that. The soup is delicious! Pro tip: order extra broth to make into two meals. I have a decent appetite but can never finish the noodles, just the broth.

very good noodle and soup and staff are very friendly.
I personally think this is a good noodle restaurant! The noodles are freshly made in the kitchen and you can completely see the process! The soup and the beef and the chili oil are all at the high quality level.
Noodles from China offer authentic taste. They even provide fresh garlic on the side. However, it’s busy on weekends, so be prepared to wait for over 30 minutes for a dine-in experience.
Good noodle place! I recommend their Lanzhou handpulled noodles, flat thick! The broth is light and the noodles are chewy. It's been a favorite for a while now. Wait is generally not too long unless you come at around 12-2pm.
Their noodles are all hand pulled and you could choose different sizes. We tried the medium round and regular round. We like the latter more. Their signature Lanzhou beef noodle is very good. It has very good flavor. You can’t choose how spicy it is. It came as mild. But you can add their house chilly sauce which itself is also very good. The stewed lamb noodle soup is not spicy but very flavorful. The waiter (Eason?) was very friendly.
It’s nice to be able to enjoy a savory bowl of hard-pulled-noodles here in the South Bay. The beef noodles soup base is full of flavors. staff is very friendly. Clean and nice setting. I will come back again.
The hand pulled noodles are excellent and the flavor of the broth is excellent, though I would’ve prefer the temperature of the broth to be hotter. Dining is in door only. Service was prompt. Tables were decently spaced out. I would come back again to try the rest of the menu.

***USP: hand pulled noodle based dishes. Handful of vegetarian options as well. ***AMBIANCE: seating is along a narrow corridor but opens up a bit at the far end of restaurant. Can have a wait time but lines move quickly. The kitchen has open glass windows allowing us to enjoy the hand pulling action. ***FOOD: I understand some items are authentically greasy but every dish we got was very greasy including the chowmein. *Popcorn chicken : 3.5/5: had surprisingly small cuts of chicken and almost resembled the size of actual pop corn. Quantity was humongous as well. *mung bean noodles with garlic sauce:3/5: we didn't realize this dish would be cold or that it came with an oil based sauce. *chilli oil noodles:3.5/5: we were expecting this dish to be oily. Though it was tossed in chilli oil, it wasn't very greasy. Pretty enjoyable. *chicken chowmein:4/5: extremely greasy, chicken was well cooked and soft. It lacked flavor though.
Decent Chinese restaurant. Chilli oil noodle (dry) with chicken was flavorful but then it was a bit cold. Noodles were too lengthy. The chicken lacked a bit of taste. The steamed wontons were juicy and good. The service is really good. They sensed that we were struggling with the lengthy noodle and gave us a scissor to cut the noodles. Ambience is lively. There wasn't any wait time.

Here’s a clean, polished rewrite of your original paragraph: ⸻ The noodles were very oily, and the meat was precooked and had just been quickly heated in the microwave with green pepper which tested like uncooked. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, and this will be my last time eating here.
