Avis sur Tutor & Spunky's Deli Dana Point
I had a “Ryan’s Creation.” Chicken Salad melt on a croissant. I added artichoke hearts and tomato. Absolutely excellent flavor. Service was very friendly and fast. I enjoyed the yacht rock vibe of the music while I ate. I would highly recommend this place for a quick sandwich when in Dana Point.
My wife and I were on vacation in San Juan Capistrano for a week. We are from San Fernando which is just north of Los Angeles. My wife and I were driving and we noticed the sign THE BEST IN TOWN. We went on a hike and worked up an appetite and we decided to stop and get some food here before we went to the beach ⛱️. We ordered our food. They have a big variety to choose from. We decided to eat some here before we went to the beach. We opened our sandwiches and they were packed and so delicious. We sat down and ate some and took the rest to the beach. Our sandwiches made the afternoon at the beach perfect. Whenever we are nearby again we will definitely be stopping by. You have to come and try them you won't be sorry.
An almost infinite selection of sandwiches that show lots of imagination. The ingredients are very fresh and served in generous quantities. The outdoor seating is worth waiting for. A little bit pricey but it seems well worth it.
This place is a gem. The owner is pretty great too. I must have driven by dozens of times, but only discovered it last month. They have generous portions and don’t skimp on the fillings. Tons of options and they take cards, Apple Pay, & G pay which isn’t always the case at delis. They have Vietnamese coffee that looks yum, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try. All the sammies are amaze—can’t go wrong!
Still my favorite place for a delicious chicken salad sandwich on squaw bread. Found a boulder on the jetty to enjoy it. FYI, a large is huge.
Absolutely loved the sandwiches we got- the portions were big as well
Amazing food, service is exceptional. Quality all around. Best BLT I’ve ever had.

The first time I tried this place was at an event that got catering from them. I was so impressed with the food that I asked where it was from. The handful of times I have gone back, the food and service has been exemplary. They have a huge selection of things to eat, but my favorite is "Teresa's Touch" sandwich on squaw bread. I am extremely picky with sandwiches, so this is high praise coming from me. The portions are generous and the ingredients are quality. They also make an awesome fresh-squeezed lemonade! If you have not tried them yet, stop in and give them a try -- you will not regret it.
Came here with my cycling friends many time. Great place to grab lunch or quick recovery meal. Food is fresh, delicious and price is unbelievable. Both owners are extremely friendly. Service is above 5 stars. I highly recommend this deli if you are around Dana Point area.
Loved my chicken salad with avocado! Friendly service. Quiet for a beach place; could use some music!
OK, yes it’s a high rating but you gotta remember. I’m rating a deli out of all the delis in Orange County. You will never find one like this one… it’s a staple first of all in the Orange County area when Tom Blake opened it up. It was soon to be the place to meet a friend. Enjoy the comfort of a good hot sandwich cold sandwich, soups Fabulous view in the back patio (for a deli) the service kind people eager to make your sandwich with lots of love you can taste it in every bite!!
Excellent custom sandwiches at a great price! The Squaw bread is the best! They have a menu of sandwiches that you use as a starting point, and then you customize the way you like it. Plenty of parking available. There is a little outdoor patio in the back, or you can hike about 3 minutes down towards the end of the street and sit on a bench overlooking Dana Point Harbor.
Great little sandwich shop who's proprietor is a local and employees like Rosa who have been there over 25 years speaks volumes about the place. It's the Cheers of sandwich shops! Step up to the Bar for a sammy 🍞🥪🥗 This is one of the few places that offers Squaw Bread as an option. It's terrific if you have never tried I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

First visit, it’s a little expensive, but the size of the sandwich is good. I had the 10” Tutor’s Special ($16.19), ham, capicolla, salami and prosciutto + fixings. Quality ingredients, good flavors, with plenty of sandwich left. Comment on my wife’s sandwich, Teresa’s Touch ($16.35). She said the turkey was “waterlogged” and the avocado “tasteless”. But she did enjoy the Pasta salad ($3.50 / 5 oz.)
Sandwiches are good but the chicken was a bit dry. Lots of toppings and the meat seems fresh. The service was a bit slow, but they did get it all correct. Some things like wraps I could not figure out how to order on line.

We had lunch here yesterday and I have to say we were definitely disappointed. My wife and I both threw half of our sandwiches away. The bread on both of them just tasted old. It was soft and looked good but it just had that "been in the fridge too long taste".

Maybe we ordered wrong…the roast beef and Swiss was ok, but the French roll was not fresh. The BLT had crumbled bacon in it (not slices) so bacon would fall out as you ate it. There were 2 dinky slices of tomato that covered 1/3 of the sandwich. For $34 I was expecting more.

Sandwich is ok, pretty bland. Chips cost anywhere from 3-5$ totally overpriced, they dont tell you chips cost extra until you're leaving after you tipped and now its time to shell out another 3-5$ for some fun pack sized bag of chips.

Tasteless and messy. The cost of the sandwich was expensive...if you want to waste money go here. I bought a meat sandwich, but taste like a veggie

Discovered this Deli this week and was very impressed until my third visit today. Ordered Rosa’s turkey, bacon, avocado, etc. on squall to go today and when I got home discovered it had very little between the bread especially compared to my first visit when I ordered the same and especially for the price you pay. There was a different sandwich maker today vs. my first two visits. Probably not worth another visit to be disappointed again.
Ordered a BLT, paid for xtra bacon, with instructions not to get crispy burned bacon. That’s all I got 😕
