Avis sur Cloud Forest Cafe Davis
One of the most beautiful coffee places in the area. It has a lot of charm and character. The food and the drinks are excellent. The staff are friendly. What a hidden gem in Davis. If you are in the area, you need to try it out. They serve a variety of drinks and they are so good. The panini sandwiches are scrumptious. My all time favorite place for coffee/ juice and sandwiches. I have not been disappointed. Highly recommended!
One of our favorite places to go for breakfast. Good food. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere inside or out on the patio.
Great cafe in a fun college town. Food has been great every time I have dined there. Coffee drinks are yummy as well! Just tried the Cloud Ice Coffee and it was delicious! The staff is friendly and professional! I believe in supporting small businesses.
I love this cafe! The Pink Lady juice is great as well as all of their coffee. The gentleman working is very nice (I believe he’s the owner?) and everything we ordered came out quickly.
10 out of 10 salads and smoothies. The salads are affordable, delicious, and made with great ingredients. The people are friendly and personable. Absolutely love this place!
Really tasty mocha ice blended drink. They were able to make it decaf which makes me super happy. The sandwich was nice and the potato salad tasted like horseradish which was fun. The person who rung me up was super duper nice and talked to me and helped me choose the correct bread for the panini and convinced me to eat outside for a bit which was great because of the nice weather. I’ll definitely come back because of how nice he was ❤️
The price is just a LITTLE too steep for the food, other than that the customer service is absolutely outstanding and the atmosphere is wonderful. Had breakfast on me and beautiful girl’s one year anniversary. Awesome 🔥
If you are looking for a perfect expresso, a cozy room to chat with friends, this cafe is the perfect spot. Restrooms are sparkling clean. Try their scones 😋.
This is only my second time coming here but I’ve enjoyed the food so much every time. The staff is super friendly and helpful and I always have a good time when I go in. Thank you!
The food, coffee and service are always excellent quality here. It is great to still have family owned small businesses! This family works so hard to bring a quality product. The bread is fresh everyday. The owner always has a smile on his face. They have done a great job refreshing the decor. The music playing is always great. They have a laptop free zone which is great. I highly recommend this place.
Great service and delicious food. A little pricey relative to the portions, but to be expected in a college town. Food was fresh and atmosphere was chill.
The venue here is very nice, it has excellent outdoor seating and once covid is gone the inside seating seems very nice too! Their specialty coffees (lattes, etc) are very well made, the barista really takes his time to make them excellent. The food is also quite good, very moist scones and the panninis are simple and delicious. I highly recommend the Cloud Forest Cafe in Davis.
Delicious food in a pleasant setting with outdoor seating. The smoothies, coffee, and panini are great. The service is extremely warm and welcoming. TH (the owner?) is attentive and helpful. Order inside at the counter and usually pick up your food. If it's not busy, they'll bring it to you.
I go here all the time, and I always take my out of town friends as well. They have so many options to choose from and they even have a designated dining area separated from an area where you can study. They also have outdoor seating! The only thing is it’s a bit pricy besides the normal cafe drinks, so I suggest going here if you are planning on having a sit down meal or brunch with friends. Also! They are closed on Mondays:)
BESTEST MATCHA IN DAVIS 💯 Genuinely so yummy and they have lots of flavor syrups! We love the workers and the cozy vibe. Highly recommend the matcha latte with lavender or hazelnut! Hot chocolate also slaps in the cozy season 🍁☕️
Way better than Panera!!! Always love the Cache Creek Caliente Paninni! They made a Green Tea Afogato and it is really good!!!! Must try! This place has a lot to offer and it's great atmosphere if you are a coffee affecionado Great place to study, delicious food, great prices, greatest service ever! Everyone here is really nice! Try it and You'll come back craving more!. W
Great vibes! So cozy and clean! The staff are very friendly and the matcha comes in a very cute container!
Very nice aesthetics inside the cafe and great outdoor seating as well! I highly recommend their Cloud Forest panini- I’d say this is the best panini I’ve had in Davis so far. Staff is always super friendly, and if I want to go to a cafe I know won’t miss on the food quality, this is the one I choose.

Cloud Forest cafe is a great place for me to meet my friend for lunch. The layout is sunny, comfortable, and uplifting. I've had the panini turkey sandwich twice and the roasted eggplant panini once; both were outstanding. Employees and the owner have been consistently genuine and friendly. My friend and I aren't fond of the coffee- he had a drip coffee and I had cappuccinos a few times (both were simple and dull)- but I will return just for the food and atmosphere and try the smoothies. That's not a knock as good espresso drinks are hard to find.
Food was good (a bit skimpy on sandwich fillings) and the smoothie was delicious. Prices are pretty outrageous.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee drinks were good and Panini breakfast sandwiches were very good. The scone was a little dry, but expect that from scones. They use dishes and cups made by a local pottery artist and they also sell artist's dinnerware. Will definitely go back for more.
Very nice fresh juiced juices. They juice right there, as you order. High quality and fresh! The food was good, but overpriced. Had salmon avacado toast, and found it to be very ordinary for $15. Single slice of toast, not super tasty. Definitely could make that at home. $40 for 2 small juices and avocado toast.
I've come a few times now and it's regularly been super expensive and not really worth the price. Having no wifi I can kind of understand from a monetary POV, but it feels a little anti-student for a business less than a mile from UC Davis- and splitting the seating into laptop vs no laptop feels very alienating. I love the outdoor seating however, and the employees were very kind but the price of the coffee and food isn't quite worth the quality. My sister's cold brew, even with cream added, tasted so acidic and bitter that I feel like they were steeping it for over 24 hours (almost undrinkable, and the after taste was awful), and my mochas were all more like warm chocolate milk. The owner, if a little unapproachable, did give me a refund for the cold brew which I appreciate, and other than that, it's a nice place to sit and have a chat with people or be outside for a while and read a book.
Workers were super polite, food was kind of expensive. Service could have been better. We were asked to clean up our own table when we were leaving (not because we are lazy, it just felt awkward) and we weren't even brought our food or coffees. Just felt like this place could have been way more accommodating.
Got the avocado toast. The portion size was small. Nothing too special, especially for $13. My friends got the panini and the pickles that came with it were too vinegary and soft (wasn’t good). The young employees were nice but when my friend tried asking the owner (an older man) if they were hiring and he was kind of pushy. The bathrooms were also hard to get into.
I think the only downside of this was this place were the prices. I feel like they were a little too ridiculously high for what it was. Nonetheless it was still good. The orange juice is made there and is delicious. It doesn’t taste sour or acidic. It was sweet and fresh. This was my first time trying a panini and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a decently sized portion and also yummy. Not only that but the staff was nice, friendly, and efficient. The environment was also cool.
Nice seating on deck, my coffee was awful on this visit (4/5 green stars) Note to owners: you have to start being nicer to customers. I asked what kind of milk they have and where their beans come from. These two questions were dealt with in a belligerent manner. I understand that some places are not yet used to being asked questions along these lines – it might seem like an intrusion. But a lot of people want to know what they are eating and drinking these days – either for health or ethical reasons. I like the space – especially their outdoor deck. But my Americano ($3.25) was not good at all – it was about the same level as Folgers instant. Overall, I enjoyed sitting on their deck (the third star was for that) and might give them another try for tea and food. I’m giving the Cloud Forest Cafe 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • In the end I didn’t find out where their beans came from – they are roasted somewhere in Davis. There’s no info on trade practices or sustainability. Overall, I think they deserve 3.5 green stars but would give 4 stars if I knew their beans had a positive social or environmental impact. I’m rounding up for now. • They stock almond (not organic), rice and soy milk. • Their teas are amongst the best that you can find, in terms of impact: Equal Exchange and Choice Organic. • Their cup lids and cold cups are standard plastic. They do have ceramic cups and plates for in-house. • I think their pastries come from the Village Bakery, which I reviewed separately (4 green stars). • Decent selection of vegetarian and vegan food options. Please join in and include green star ratings in your reviews! Or contact me if you’d like to know more.

Nice ambiance and chill vibe here. Patio seating is nice too. Coffee is not good, tasted very watered down. Got an oat milk latte and it really wasn’t drinkable, told the owner and got a shoulder shrug and an unapologetic sorry. Avocado salmon toast is a few strips of salmon on a piece of white sandwich bread for $20 with no sides.
The prices here do not match the food quality. Almost $50 for breakfast for 2 is crazy for how little food there is, combined with it not having very good flavor.
I don’t know how I was expected to eat a panini with the flimsiest set of cutlery ever (a tiny wooden fork and knife). It was a messy experience and ruined the meal for me. Also wayyy too overpriced
Refusing to remake a ruined poached egg. Cloud Forest Cafe charged me $12.50 plus tax for avocado toast with a poached egg. I should have known the amount of food would not be enough for the price, but I was fine with it. Then I cut into the egg to find it nearly hard boiled, with only a little bit of it soft like a poached egg is supposed to be. I considered just leaving it be, but for $12.50 they could at least poach the egg. I went back and they said I would have to pay for a new egg. I was not about to pay for what should have been good in the first place, so I sat back down. Luckily, the cashier who took our order was amazing. She was so nice when she helped my girlfriend and I initially and when she presented my egg to the kitchen. Later, she came out with a fresh poached egg that seemed like she either convinced the kitchen staff at length or paid for it out of her tip. We were honestly moved by how kind she was. If you're reading this, thanks again. You're great, queen.

Bad food. Overpriced . Older man (owner?) is incredibly rude. Do not waste your money here.
Only went there once but it was my last time going there. I asked my drink in a mug and I was told that because they close in 30 min they cannot serve my drink in a mug. Matcha latte which I ordered was undrinkable and overpriced.
Resturant prices but not resturant quality. We paid over $80 for 2 avocado toast, 1 salmon avocado toast, chai, hit chocolate, and a juice. There was no spread on the avocado toast--not oil, no butter, just avocado on dry (and stale) sourdough. The chai was made with the Oregon Chai mix. The carrots in the juice were dirty. Everything was slapdash, cheap, and technically what we asked for. Of course they plate it nicely, which I guess is what you pay for.
Friend showed me this place since its local. I liked the atmosphere the first time so I came back here the second time for a small meeting with another person (in the morning). After the meeting, the owner said we were very loud. I then said sorry and asked if we were really loud and whether this is a quiet zone since I didn’t realized it. But he said “If you didn’t know, I’ll let you know, you were very loud, it was annoying”. Guy was dead angry. In his defense my friend did have a drink from outside since I decided we meet here instead but I did order my drinks from here but I am very shocked this happened. The owner was dead serious mad and has a very angry attitude. So I will never come back here.
Unfriendliest coffee shop in Davis! I was sitting there with my friend who was drinking one of their lattes and started chewing on a granola bar. The staff immediately came over and said you couldn't have any outside food and she had to put it away. Then my parents came in and sat down next to us and we were all talking. They both ordered sandwiches and drinks. The man who is apparently the owner came over to me and started asking me wasn't I going to order something and was I just going to sit at a table and not order. Literally I was sitting with three other people who had all ordered food. There were only two other people in the entire Cafe at the time so it's not like they needed tables. He made all four of us feel entirely uncomfortable. The one other time that I was in there I ordered an avocado toast for $9.50. It was literally a piece of toast with some avocado on it. I was so hungry after I ate the piece is bread that I went next door to Cafe Bernardo and got a real breakfast for about the same money. I don't know how these people stay in business.
Just by the coffee, I would give this place 2.5/5, it was very basic and nothing special, not bad though, but the price is totally not worth it. I rated this place lower than 2.5 since I was very poorly treated here, like even at a mere human level putting aside the fact that I'm a customer there. I went to this place this morning and sat accidently on the wrong side of the coffee shop to charge my laptop since i saw an outlet and I wasn't fully sure where to sit since the sign made it seem like the whole coffee shop was no laptops, but I saw people using them. I went up to the register after ordering and finding a spot to sit to ask for the wifi to use my phone and the owner proceeded to yell at me, " No laptops, You cant sit there I thought you already saw the sign. Didn't you order to go?" Which I took as their direct way of asking me to leave. So, i went back to my spot very embarrased since people were looking at me and began to pack up my things during which they yelled at me again from across the shop to sit on the other side if I want to use my laptop and at this point I was very upset and disrespected ( I was soo embarrased I almost teared up lol) . He could've politely said yes, there is wifi, if I could please sit on the other side of the shop. I would've happily obliged I have no intention of ruining the atmosphere that they were trying to create in the shop. I just have never been there and didn't know better they should've been more understanding of that. I was looking forward to it since people said it was good but never expected receive this kind of treatment, I get better treatment at fast food places lol. I definitely speculate after looking at other reviews that the owner has something against students, which isn't smart business considering its walking distance from a large university. I highly don't recommend this as a studying place or a place in general for students.
The owner( old Asian guy) is out of the box RUDE. My co worker and I are in Davis attending a conference and this Cafe is near our hotel so we went in for coffee and pastries. We ordered two Chai Latte's and ricotta bread with fruit. The Chai was not hot so my coworker asked him to warm it for 40 secs and he said "OK whatever." Then I asked to warm my Chai aswell and he said, "why didn't you ask me at the same time ? I have customers waiting." There was one person in line behind me. I went ahead and said , "that was rude." His reply was "likewise and there are other places you could go to". At that point we took our Chai's, finished our meal and left. Quiet a rude experience for two out of town people.
“Is that all you’re going to buy for that many people?” It was cold outside and I was with another dad and his baby. I had my baby and toddler. We jumped in to escape the cold and decided to get 2 teas. The owner looks at us and says, “that’s all you’re going to buy for that many people?” TWO of the 5 were babies and my 4-yr-old had already eaten breakfast. Who asks questions like that? We abruptly left back into the cold weather for another coffee shop. Talk about insensitive people. And funny thing is we were just getting tea to recover from the cold. We were going to buy more. I don’t recommend these rude owners to anyone.
The coffee here was very acidic, it wasn't drinkable. The food is WAY overpriced for what you get! The portions are very small. The staff (older man) was very rude to me and my family! The young women employees were at least polite. Do yourself a favor and walk around the corner to Cafe Bernardo! You'll find way better coffee & food. The portions are bigger and much better tasting. Cafe Bernardos coffee is very good, not even close. I don't usually write reviews but my experience here was so bad I felt I had to share.
1 STAR IS TOO MUCH! The service here is TERRIBLE! There was this guy who was super pushy. He was pushing my POC friends and I out because he wanted us to order and get out so that he could let some other guests come and take our seats. We literally JUST sat down and he was saying we need to hurry up because we were taking too much space and he had other customers who needed a table to sit at...there were three of us and three of them. We were at a 4 top table. They had a seat...OKAY THOUGH! The vibes were so off. I will literally never come here again and I really hope y'all steer clear as well.
Came to visit here from Sacramento after the farmers market. I’m not sure if the guy was the owner or not but he kicked me and my other two friends out of our table for another group. He said we were taking up too much space for the other group, yet they had the same amount of people as us and were at a bigger table. Extremely rude and sad, all of this after we purchased drinks and were sitting. He was a shorter Asian guy and super unprofessional!
I ordered two an iced coffee and one panini, and the total came to $33, which felt very overpriced for what I received. The atmosphere and service were fine, but the value didn’t match the cost. Probably wouldn’t return for food at this price point
