One of the BEST experinces in Downtown! Forgot I was deep in the city. Beautiful. Historic. Caught an amazing jazz band Saturday night! Cozy & Quaint. Them chairs... I could sit there all night! 🥰 Staff - On point. Didn't miss a beat. The small tavern feel was so refreshing. Food absolutely amazing. I will say their menu is seasonal - as you may not see everything the online menu shows, but easy to adapt. Delicious. The Bartender. Bravissimo 👌 *Parking - street parking is a gamble, but a block away is a secure parking garage $8 on the weekends. *There is valet as well.
Absolutely love this place. The food, ambiance and staff were incredible! The fish and chips was the best I have ever had. I think because they use haddock it makes it even better! Bummed I didn't get more pictures of the food or restaurant.
The Ships Tavern at Brown Palace is the place to enjoy a cocktail. The bartender, Kyle, was professional, welcoming and knowledgeable about cocktails and recommendations. The cocktail menu has a fantastic selection and the ambiance is like no other. You are stepping into a historic Tavern. Try the Old Fashion cocktail or a glass of Italian prosecco. You will not be disappointed.
Went for lunch and enjoyed every minute of our experience. The decor, atmosphere, and food were excellent. The bartender, Caleb L. Was on point. He was slammed but made sure every patron seated at the bar was well taken care of. Highly recommended.
Got to love the nostalgic atmosphere of this iconic establishment. I could just imagine sitting around post-prohibition smoking cigars and drinking the latest batch of whiskey straight from the barrel. This is a classy place to get steak or the famous prime rib and sip on a few Manhattan's. Would recommend the Caesar salad to start with. The presentation was unique or maybe just old school. I really liked the hand hewn wood beams in the ceiling that made me feel like I was sitting in the bow of a ship.
A bit of a unique menu, but food was delicious and the history of the location adds to the ambulance.
One of the funnest solo dining experiences I have had in the US. Went here on a Friday night where there is love piano and singing performance. The prime rib is really good and they are very generous with the portion (maybe cause I dined late there.) The decoration is fun and there are many details to be adored. Overall, a very enjoyable experience especially if you are staying at the hotel.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. The steak salad was fantastic. The steak was cooked well and paired nicely with the tomatoes and corn. I would have loved two charred jalapeños on the side of the salad, but only because they were that good.
Ship Tavern is a staple dive bar and hotel bar. I love it. It’s has a casual, indie vibe, and the food is great. I got the onion soup, which was small, but great. And a spicy mango cocktail. So much style here!
Fun experience in a hotel that was stayed in by "Unsinkable" Molly Brown after she survived the Titanic. Great architecture, in a distinctive triangle shape, with a stunning and haunted eight story atrium with a stained glass skylight. No wood was used for the floors or walls. Walls were gorgeous stone. The architect Frank Edbrooke also designed the nearby Oxford Hotel. Service at Ship's Tavern was top-notch, and there were fun touches on the food. If you love Colorado History, don't miss this place.
Came for the atmosphere and left with more than just satisfaction. The decor gave a sense of tavern but on a ship. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The tavern itself has some history to it. Menu had decent variety and the chef did NOT disappoint! If I lived closer I would dine here regularly. Try anything with truffle you won't regret it! Left here with a happy gut, leftovers and a inspiration to do a pirate novel.
This restaurant is so awesome and has an amazing setting. The staff is so friendly and considerate. We tried the Pastrami and the Seafood Pasta. Both were phenomenal. The fries are cooked perfectly. The Pastrami sandwich is dressed perfectly. And the seafood pasta was perfectly al dente and the ratio of sauce and meat was exactly right. We had the Isabella Sterling (I think that's what it was called) made with Botanist Gin, lavender infused St Germain, and Moet Brut. Everything was perfect about this restaurant. We really want to go back to try more.
Everything we wanted and more! Exquisite food and service. The atmosphere is incredible. Very friendly staff; a reservation didn't show so we were able to grab a table for the finest Christmas dinner.
Great pub at Brown Palace. Had a greek salad with crab cake. Fish and chips was great too. Huge piece of cheesecake so had to take half of it home
Great service! Great lunch! Great hotel! Door to Door! Had to see the Grand Champion 🏆 Steer! Stan The Man and Rooster! I remember having a Shirley Temple here back in the early 1970's. No screens on the windows back then and they all worked. Historic for sure! Ladies enjoyed the Steer's company I think!
It's a bit odd to find nautical-themed things in Denver, but I couldn't pass up checking out this classic tavern. There's not that much food variety - mostly salads, sandwiches and pub grub - but they go have a great selection of local, domestic and imported beers. Service is good, at least at the bar, and the atmosphere is a quite unique old-timey tavern. A bit on the pricy side, but it ain't bad, and it is an upscale hotel. Definitely worth visiting if only for the vibe!
I’ve heard they’ve thought about an ‘update’ for this bar which I hope they never do. The environment is perfect as it is. Came here for some drinks and food which are always great. Caleb L. is an awesome bartender and the service was excellent. If you don’t get the prime rib sandwich you’ll regret it.
Building is beautiful, food was delicious and Dean our server was exceptional. He took the time to listen to our travels and gave us a history of the building. He is an asset to this amazing restaurant. If you are in Denver a visit is a must!
We ate here twice on a recent visit, both times for dinner. One night there were just two of us. The other night there were four of us. The former bill came to a bit over $100; the latter bill was north of $300 (both before tip). Why did we eat here twice? The first time was before another group of people arrived. We liked this place so much, we thought our other friends would enjoy it too. What can I say? I like old restaurants, in old hotels, that reek (or is it 'are perfumed'?) of a bygone era. And I especially like them if they attempt to keep up their standards and work hard to keep their customers happy. I think the Ship Tavern, in the Brown Palace, does that. Though the two experiences differed, neither was a letdown. The first night the two of us ordered the following: two Caesar salads, a side of duck fat fries, the French onion soup, the trout, and two beers. The salads are composed of a head of baby romaine, cut in two, drizzled in dressing and topped with grated Parmesan, with house made croutons on the side. For the price, they were quite good. The duck fat fries were nicely crispy, though the actual taste of duck fat (which has a distinct flavor that adds to things in which it was cooked) was largely absent. The soup was served in a mini-tureen, with cheese and croutons, and deeply rich and flavorful broth filled with caramelized onions. The rainbow trout was cooked well (crispy skin side up and flaky) and served atop a surprisingly filling and rich pile of lentils, with a cream sauce and a decent portion of frisée. The beers were just beers. Nothing special. The second night we had both raw and cooked oysters (1/2 dozen each), the prime rib sandwich, two orders of the trout, two Caesars, a Greek Goddess salad, mac n’ cheese, two beers, four martinis, and a Moscow mule. The oysters (East Coast), whether cooked or raw, were well prepared. The prime rib sandwich was a bit underwhelming with a middle of the road serving of curly fries for some reason. The Caesars were as before and the Greek Goddess was good, if a touch under-dressed and small, portion-wise. All the drinks were good, if not great. Notice I didn’t mention the trout? Let me explain by first noting the staff on both evenings. In each case, the hosts were warm and welcoming. Same, too, the busser who cleared plates, brought plates, or refilled water. The first night’s server was gracious and smiling, checking in and doing a light touch (which is fine) with our meal, and even arranging our reservation for our second dinner. The second night’s server was, well, a character. He gave off a slightly ‘carefree’ attitude when serving us that was, to my mind, both hilarious and spirited. I could see some not liking his tableside manner (it was more ‘yeah, and . . .’ with a smirk than ‘yes’ with a nod, if that makes sense). We enjoyed it. Here’s the thing though. The first night the trout came out on time and was warm/hot. The second dinner was a different story. For whatever reason, our busser started to bring out the two servings before our salads?! The server noticed this, came up, made a gesture, and had the busser promptly bring them back into the kitchen. When they arrived after our salads, I had the distinct feeling that they simply sat under a heat lamp and were not remade (the trout was closer to room temperature, and the lentils had an ever-so-slight ‘skin’ to them). I can’t be sure because I didn’t ask or complain about it. Why? I was enjoying myself, my other guest loved the dish, and the overall plate was still good (but not as great as the last time). Ship Tavern is a place out of time and also thoroughly of this moment. The vibe and décor harken back to the ‘good old days’ while the menu and staff speak more to the current moment, and not in a bad way. If you want something different, are in a relaxed mood, and are seeking food and drinks that range from pretty good to pretty great (and at a price that is fair), come here. Recommended. Thanks for two enjoyable meals.
Had reservations and were seated immediately. Feels like an old pub in England sort of. Has a coastal sea vibe. Very cozy feeling. Took awhile to get a waiter, and he was a little slow in general, however he was extremely friendly and had great suggestions and had been working there for 64 years. The brown palace in general has a more laid back feel with service and mostly it’s just me who probably was impatient instead of enjoying the moment. It was overall a wonderful experience. Martini is a heavy poor, have some beers on tap, duck fries were fire!!! Fish was fresh. Oysters were delightful and worth the price, and the flat iron was cooked perfectly. It felt like a clean place. And the food was dressed up for a pub like atmosphere. Perfect ambience for me. Doesn’t feel fancy but produces quality items. Overall a little pricey. However seafood in Denver is difficult to get and to cook right. We will be back for sure!
The food was phenomenal! The service could have been much better, especially considering the location and price. Forgetting drinks, not getting the order right on a 2 person table, etc are just things you would think this place would be better than. It's a 5 star location, 5 star food, but 2 star service.
This is not a review of their food as a whole. Boss Lady and I came in as a respite from the 101 F heat that wanted to unalive us. The joint looks like Captain Black Beard will walk in at any minute. We ordered drinks and some onion rings (to tie us over for dinner). They were really good and seasoned nicely. We'll definitely come back to have prime rib and assorted accoutrement.
This is a well-done ship-themed restaurant that's been around since 1934. It's a great place to get a drink or meet with friends, but the food is average and overpriced. Some unusual dishes, like the Cordon-Blue pasta, have a mustard flavor, so your mileage may vary. The restaurant itself has the kind of touches you would expect from 1934 when things were made to last. I'd visit again for the bar and the great atmosphere, but skip a full meal.
No wreckage here. This was a fun little place we randomly came across. It’s attached to a hotel. But completely independent on its own. The whole restaurant is almost like the inside of a ship. Service was great. Everybody was kind. Really good ambience inside of the place. Not over packed. Food is really good and delivered, looking great also. The place seems to have more of a historical feel to it. Waiter told us they are known for the prime rib. We did not have that. Would go back to try the prime rib.
For a $28 salad, is it too much to ask for the lettuce to be chopped up? Maybe I’m just not a fancy person, but having to saw through a romaine lettuce head with a butter knife is a little tricky. The Caesar dressing and everything was good, I just wished it was all mixed together and easier to eat. If you do get a salad, add some meat because the portion is not big. I didn’t mind overall because of the good service and fun tavern atmosphere.
This hotel and restaurant/bar are the epitome of Denver history. When you walk into the lobby, you feel as if you’ve gone back 130 years. the hotel has hosted presidents from Taft to Regan and Clinton, and musicians that included the Beatles, Springsteen, and Taylor Swift. The Ship Tavern feels very classic and old-school. And the story of how it came to be in the 1930s is a great one. we were there on a Thursday night. We had a reservation, but could have walked in if we didn’t have one. The cocktails were very nice and not outrageously priced. Our entrées were the Caesar salad with salmon and the 12 oz prime rib (16 and 20 oz are available). The salad was very good and the seafood was fresh. The prime rib was a solid. The portion was generous, and it was seasoned very nicely. But it could have been just a little warmer. The service was unobtrusive, but very friendly and they responded quickly to a raised hand. The prices were on the higher side for what you got, but remember that this is a hotel/urban resort property. It may not be the best choice if you want a gourmet experience or a bargain, but if you’re looking for a solid meal and really wonderful atmosphere, this is the place.
We were happy to get a reservation for five at the last minute. Our food was good, but when a baked potato doesn’t mash with a fork, it’s just not baked! The prime rib was good and our server was good also. It was a bit noisy but a full restaurant is noisy. We had a good time.
I wish there was a 4+ (because I never give 5 stars, but this one is 4.9999999999...) I thought it was too fancy of a place for the likes of me, but once i got past the main hall and into the pub it was an excellent warm atmosphere, much brighter than expected/wanted (YMMV). The food was amazing, and drink choices much better than expected. While I went in with a list of my go-to items for lunch, a brief conversation with the bartender on the options and I was like "oh, heck, sure, when in Rome". I was not disappointed... in fact, very satisfied with the selections. I recommend, highly; go in with a blank slate and hearty appetite - i had to get a doggie bag, LOL. I also never do these reviews, so I guess that's saying something.
Went to this place with a few friends. The service was really good and she was very nice. They have a nice bar here and the atmosphere is pretty cool. With four separate meals the best thing to eat was the chopped salad.
The food was presented nicely but needed salt. The bread was neat - 3 kinds baked together and presented first. There was little coordination for the charcuterie board and the server didn't bother mentioning what was being served. The decor is a bit campy and, while I did feel like I was on the deck of a ship, no worthy seaman would pay that much for a tasty beverage. Considering this is in downtown Denver, there are better and cheaper options.
Went for the bar in the foyer. The entertainment was fantastic, and the vibe was nice. The drinks tasted yummy but the cosmo had very little booze. For $17 for one drink, this was very disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend going unless the drinks significantly improve OR the price is cut in half. $8 is justifiable for these beverages.
First-time visitor. While downtown Denver, we decided to stop for a quick snack and a beer. The bartender service was friendly and overall good. The greeter at the entrance door was outstanding! I'm sorry not to remember his name,he offered to take a picture of my sister and I in the midst of terrible cold snowy weather. Now that is outstanding service! Thank you.
Sorry to review this location due to in proximity to the beautiful Brown Palace Hotel. Our night started with a greeting at the door from possibly the manager. Here was our welcome, "Party of 5? Just to let you know we add in a 20% gratuity and there are no splitting checks". That set the tone as it is the only thing he said. We placed our orders with 1/3 full restaurants. We all agreed that our food was taking some time to get served. Finally the food arrived. I took one bite of my Wagyu burger only to find it rare at best. I mentioned it to the waitress and asked to have it placed back on the grill. I was informed that couldn't be done and they would be required to cook a new hamburger. Then she tells me that they cook the burgers to medium. I was never told that or I would have asked for medium-well as my preference for ground beef. So we wait for a new burger. Viola! Our comes the new medium well burger. I take a bite and it rarer than the first one. So much so that the bun was red from the blood of the hamburger. After this miserable attempt, we decided to try somewhere else. That 20% gratuity still made it onto the bill. Just a horrible experience.
The Old Fashioned and duck fat fries were fantastic. However, the Green Goddess Salad and crab cakes were uninspired at best. The salad showed up with about five-six butter lettuce leaves uncut with the marinated cucumbers and avocado just kind of slopped on there. There was supposed to be pistachios but I feel like that was only one - maybe two. The crab cake was good sized but was bland and a bit mushy. There's a certain expectation of quality when dining at The Brown Palace and sad to say those expectations where not met.
Great service and ambience! But IMO, food was not the greatest value. The salad was great, albeit pricey ($18), but a (pretty average, at best) sandwich with wedge fries costs around $25-30. There are nearby spots with much tastier sandwiches for half the price--like Schoolyard--so I'd only go here for food if (1) you're craving the ambience or (2) you order differently/better than I did
Though appreciated the service, we found ourselves wondering when our orders would be taken and food/drinks provided. Though the food was great, it was small portioned and overpriced for the size, atmosphere and service.
We were staying at the Brown Palace hotel, so decided to grab a quick bite at their in house bar/restaurant. It was busy and there seemed to be lots of servers stopping by the tables to pour water and take orders, but we found that we often had to ask for a refill of water, or flag someone down so we could order, or to pay. Fries were served cold, we had to send them back. The food was mediocre, and the table service was even less- the bar staff were good. It seemed expensive for what we got. There was a live jazz bank in the bar which was enjoyable Step across the street to savinas mexican for great food and great service.
Our server was nice but the food was mediocre. The tavern has seen better days. Not worth it with so many other options in the area. I had the half and half for lunch with a cold (?) pastrami and cheese sandwich and the wedge salad. The pickle was the best part of the plate. I do not recommend. My husband had the Greek salad with chicken which was fine but not great. Too kitchy without the charm.
Came today for a fun Christmas dinner and drinks but was disappointed. Drinks were great but food was marginal at best. I ordered the French dip which was ok, I had about two bites left of my meal when my mom’s pot pie showed up which was ordered the same time as my sandwich. After we finished eating our server didn’t show up for probably ten minutes and took another ten minutes to pick up our check after we put the card down. Bathrooms were also sub par with broken sinks and cracked counter tops. Being a Marriott property you think this place would be run better.
My expectations were high, reason being I worked there in the late 80’s and the decorations throughout the public areas were disappointing, the food was cold and the crab Louie presentation was in a banana split boat with tiny pieces of wilted lettuce. Old fries and the portion of the French dip and clam chowder was less than ample but I probably wouldn’t have wanted more anyway. Server kept apologizing for the wait and for our displeasure. Surrounding tables felt the same lack of effort. Let’s get the grand feeling of yesteryear back!
Very nice space and excellent service but the food is absolutely terrible. The $27 fish and chip comes with 1 piece of soggy, stale pre-frozen fish that has no flavor (and watery). The so called duck fat infused fries are cold and soggy too. You are better off with McDonald filet-o-fish.
My friends and I visited after attending the Candlelight event at Trinity United Methodist Church. We had a dinner reservation and arrived a bit early, which led to a few interactions with the hostess. While I remained friendly and kind, her brief responses and tone came across as dismissive, creating an unwelcoming impression. We were seated approximately 15 minutes past our reservation time and then waited an additional 10–15 minutes before being asked for our drink orders. After ordering an appetizer, we were informed about 10 minutes later that it was unavailable. I reached for the menu to select an alternative, as we were hungry, but when I turned back, our server had already left. The food itself was underwhelming. When ordering the prime rib, I expected it to be served with horseradish; instead, I was given a very small portion of a mild cream horseradish. Overall, the quality of both the food and service did not align with the price point. That said, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant.
My dining experience at Ship Tavern was deeply disappointing, with subpar service and food quality that fell far short of The Brown Palace’s esteemed reputation. The service was frustratingly slow and inattentive. Our server seemed disinterested, taking an excessive amount of time to take our order and rarely checking in afterward. The food was a significant letdown. The onion rings arrived at room temperature, greasy and losing crispness, as if they had been sitting out for too long. The bison meatballs were also served at room temperature, which raised immediate concerns about food safety. While the one bite I tried had decent flavor, I couldn’t continue eating due to worries about the dish’s handling. The Caesar salad was equally lackluster, with dressing that tasted like it came from a bottle and no hint of anchovies, missing the classic flavor profile entirely. When we raised these issues, the staff attributed the poor quality to a “new menu,” which felt like a flimsy excuse for such substandard execution, especially at these prices. While the historic ambiance of Ship Tavern and The Brown Palace is undeniably appealing, it couldn’t make up for the poor service and food. I hope the restaurant addresses these serious issues, as the setting deserves better. For now, I’d recommend dining elsewhere in Denver.
My mom and I came here to celebrate thanksgiving. We wanted to come here because we went with my dad many years ago but he has passed. We wanted to do something special since it’s been 5 years with him gone. But it was terrible. The food was delicious but our server was one of the worst waiters I’ve ever had. If u get the waiter in these photos ask for someone else because he will probably forget about you. His name is James. It took over 20 minutes to get a drink and there are several empty tables so what is the excuse? He doesn’t come back. When we were trying to get the check he was no where to be found. I genuinely didn’t think he would come back. This is one of the WORST EXPERIENCES EVER. And this bill was not cheap. I will not be back here and will definitely not be recommending to anyone else. If this is the type of service they provide I suggest u stay far away. This is a warning to not come to the ships tavern EVER. There is a reason there is no one here.
Took 10 mins to get greeted by the host even with a reservation. Took FOREVER to get our first round of drinks - small portions lots of ice. COLD FOOD. Saw the server 4 times during our 2.5 hour long dinner (not by choice, but because of the snail pace) Ordered 5 entrees and drinks - the bill was $400. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Also freezing inside restaurant.
First I must say, I have never left a negative restaurant review in my life but my experience at the Ship Tavern today was so bad that I felt I must leave this review. I have been frequenting the restaurants at the Brown Palace for thirty years and have always greatly enjoyed my experiences. Today, I had an early lunch reservation and there were only a few tables seated when my guest and I arrived. Our server was overtly unfriendly from the start. We placed an order for an appetizer to come out first and two entrees to follow. I also ordered an iced tea that came with no ice and it was never refilled. After over thirty minutes we had no food and our server had never returned to our table. We finally got her attention and she came over. We told her we were running out of time because we had to go back to work and asked her to bring our entrees with our appetizer. We waited about another fifteen minutes before she returned with our appetizer and my salad, but nothing for my guest. I had ordered a salad that was supposed to have a variety of different things on it, including avocado and what I got was basically a pile of bib lettuce and some dressing. I had also requested a crabcake on it and it was way undercooked and tasted like warm mush. My guest’s $30 hamburger finally showed up at about the time I finished my meal 20-30 minutes later. After all of that we had to track down our server to get our check. It was the worst restaurant experience I have had in years and not only did our server not acknowledge the problem, she treated us like we were the problem!
Ate here with my family before a concert. The good: we were sat quickly at our reservation time, staff were friendly, fun atmosphere and decor. The bad: the food was the worst meal I’ve had in a very long time. My wife and I both had onion soup, and we found them to be heavily over salted and so it was unpleasant. Ordered a sandwich which had overcooked meat and the fries didn’t seem fresh. My wife had meatballs which was also terrible. I’ve eaten better meals at food courts. The Brown Palace has sadly gone downhill after the ownership change. I have zero plans for returning. Went to the Christmas buffet a couple years ago and that was also a great disappointment.
Ship’s Tavern at the Brown Palace has always been my FAVORITE place in Denver for lunch. I work in the building directly across the street and have been coming here for over 20 years. This was once a five-star staple — dependable, classy, and worth every dollar. Now? It feels like they’re actively trying to throw away their five-star reputation in favor of gouging people for completely mediocre food. If you’re going to charge five-star prices, you’d better deliver on service, atmosphere, and cuisine. Right now they’re striking out on all three. The menu is uninspired, the execution is forgettable, and the pricing is borderline insulting for what actually shows up on the plate. And let me be clear: I absolutely have the means to pay. That’s not the issue. But you’d have to be financially illiterate to keep coming back here expecting high-quality food at these prices. It’s not about affordability — it’s about value, and the value is gone. What makes this especially disappointing is the legacy. This place used to be special. It used to feel like a privilege to eat here. Now it feels like you’re paying luxury pricing for airport-hotel quality. A real shame to watch a Denver institution choose complacency and cash grabs over excellence. I never thought I’d give Ship’s Tavern one star — but here we are.
My friends and I had an awful experience. Honestly the worst dining experience we had in years. We spent $260 not including drinks or a tip and our food was awful. The only thing we liked was the soup and salad. Their prime rib was THE WORST I'VE EVER HAD. Poorly cut, and way over cooked and sitting on a slop of spinach probably to add moisture back into the meat. All three of us got prime rib and it was so disappointing. The manager came over, we expressed how disappointed we were, and let him know that the cooking staff should have never sent out our food. He AGREED it was overcooked, and the cut was atrocious. I decided I'd take it home to give to my boyfriend or my dog honestly. We were a little disappointed that the manager didnt comp any of the food, but I understand because I took it home... My friend didnt eat her food either, but I hate wasting food so I paid for her prime rib and took it home too. Went home with two large pieces of dry prime rib to salvage at home. Anyway, $260 of food, everything but the salad and soup was bad, including apps and sides, and we were not happy with how the manager handled the situation. Do NOT order the prime rib. Stick to cocktails and salad. Two out of the three of us were long time servers so we understand the business. 1 star review is simply so management can take control of their cooking standards and strive for exceptional costumer service. **Update: Two of us had stomach issues after returning from dinner.
My husband was dying to eat at this place despite my side eye over our past dining experiences here at other restaurants/areas in the hotel (the Christmas buffet was a ripoff when we went a few years back and I didn’t want to go back). So I figured it’s been some time, it’s a different restaurant so maybe it’ll be different? The drinks were good. The atmosphere was pretty loud yet festive. The service was a little weird - our server, a much older man rang up the wrong drink but we opted to take it anyway. He was not very friendly at first. His approach to the table was to interrupt our conversation without preamble, simply a brusque “What are you drinking?” The host was a glum younger guy who acted like he didn’t want to be there. No smiling, no pleasantries returned. Pretty damning. The clam chowder was decent but I don’t need a dumping of bacon to complicate matters with it. I had to eat around the bacon. The fish and chips were rough. There was a slight bitter/sour taste from the tartar sauce or fish - either fryer oil which hasn’t been changed or an ingredient throwing things off. The fish largely had no flavor and no amount of malt vinegar and lemon changed things. The fries were okay yet I don’t see how duck fat figures into their flavoring when they tasted like regular slightly overcooked fries to me. My husbands prime rib was good, probably the only thing I’d order if I came back and the creamed spinach a good side. Using the ladies room - 2/3 sinks were broken. Yeah, I get it’s a historic hotel but still… Yeah, I don’t know if I’d return, especially seeing the other reviews here. When a chopped salad seems to be the best thing out of your groups order (as evidenced by another recent review), I’ll take my money elsewhere.
