Place is just as good as the food truck. We had the “original” KoJa the chicken KoJa and the kamikaze fries. Parking was a bit rough but then again we came in during the lunch hour. Food prep took a bit long but definitely worth the wait and nothing too exceeding. Place was very clean. The food was great!

Koja is one of my favorite food truck/turned restaurant chain. The kamikaze frieds are so addictive - waffle cut fries topped with Koren beef and sauce galore. The Koja sandwiches are rice patties turned sandwich buns filled with Koren goodness. This location keeps up the flavor of the originals. Fast service too!

Amazing food!! Ordered the kamikaze fries, spam masubi, crispy chicken bowl!! All good. Wish there was a dine in option though, it's only takeout.

Wife brought me here when I was visiting and this place has amazing food. I had the beef Koja, korean wings, and Kamikaze fries. I ate my food and kids leftovers!!! Can't wait to go back and eat here again!

Their customer service used to suck but they have gotten so much better. That’s really the only reason I’m writing a review. Their prices are great and their food tastes amazing. Will continue coming here!

Soooo good. We had the BBQ shortrib bowl and chicken bowl with kimchee. Authentic Korean flavoring. Our go to place for local Korean.

First time here and I got to say, I was expecting this things to be a little bigger. But aside the size the flavor is pretty good. Def will come back.

Ummm… I think I need this in my life everyday! SO GOOD! Let’s start with the customer service when you walk in; super helpful with ordering, giving you lots of time and even offering to-go/pick up clients something to drink while they hang out and get their super fresh meal. So many delicious choices, you almost want one of each, however the portions are a great size where they’re almost shareable. My family visited on Saturday and each of us got something different to try from the menu. Honestly can’t decide what I liked best, it was all wonderful. Just the right level of heat, sweet, salty and sour mixed into every savory dish. Complimentary sides (we had two kinds of fries Umami & KOJA Beef) are also amazing, one order is definitely shareable.

I got the Short Rib Bowl, and it exceeded expectations! The meat was tender, smothered in a rich, savory sauce infused with rich Asian flavors. Each bite melted in my mouth. The perfectly cooked rice balanced the tender, juicy meat. Crunchy kimchi slaw added a delightful contrast. KoJa Kitchen's Short Rib Bowl is a must-try! Flavorful, satisfying, and expertly crafted.

The beef bowl was very savory, glad there was ample salad and rice to git every bit of the yummy sauce. Had a braised pork taco too, the coconut sauce was a nice surprise. Went awesome with some sriracha too.

R

Delicious fusion of Korean and Japanese ingredients and taste. Good serving sizes. Yummy salad dressing.

Crispy Chicken Bowl is the way to go! I wish there was more chicken but what I had in my bowl was excellent! Definitely will be back again!

R
Rupert Young

Very tasty combination of Korean and Japanese styles. Famous for their short rib burger on a fried rice bun. Umami fries with pork is also very tasty. Also offer bowls and tacos all with similar toppings. Pretty fast but small so not a lot of seating especially during peak times.

The food is always good, but it is never ready when they say it will be. They don't have someone to stand at the door so there is always confusion by customers on when orders will be ready. Today my order was ready 25 minutes after they said it would be. I really like their food, but hesitate to go back due to the unpredictable wait.

A food truck turned into a brick and mortar restaurant story. Like a food truck, some portions are a little Small, and the menu is limited. However, the food is bold and flavorful. The only knock I had was they only allow for online ordering and not in person ordering.

It's definitely good food and worth trying out.

It's great the business was able to expand from food truck to actual brick and mortar. I really like the food. The ambiance is nice. I still think the price is too high for the small portions. Yummy food though.

I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times! I would highly recommend the original Koja burgers and the strawberry mango mint lemonade. Both very delicious.

M

This place surprised me. We ended up here in an attempt to find something reasonable but not burgers. This place hit that perfectly. We did try the Korean Fried Chicken to try more than just their star and wouldn't again, it's very average. But the koja sandwiches, which is the star of the show anyhow, is excellent. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the rice patties, but they were well suited to the sandwich. The sauce was excellent and definitely bumped this up to the 5 stars. The sandwich was designed perfectly to satisfy every craving I was having. Warning, they are messy! But I will be back here regardless!

Ordering was easy and efficient with the self order kiosk, lots of different items mostly fusion. I had the short ribs bowl, quality and taste was alright and the portions are big for a reasonable price. Will stop by again soon.

A co-worker introduced me to Koja Kitchen, and I'm so glad they did! This location is inside the Persimmon Place shopping center in Dublin, in the same parking area as The Habit and Whole Foods. I love the story behind Koja Kitchen, starting off as a food truck business before breaking out after their feature on Divers, Drive-Ins and Dives. My teenager tried the tacos, which were okay, but not nearly as good as the "Original Koja," featuring Korean short ribs in a toasty rice bun. Oh man, it's good! Give the Kamakazi Fries a try, too! Parking is AWFUL during the rush hour, so be prepared to circle around quite a few times. The decor is nice and there is a decent amount of seating inside for a small place.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time and it was ok. I wasn’t impressed with the kamikaze fries that I saw great reviews on. The original koja on the other hand was so good, lots of flavor and we asked for the garlic rice bread to be crispy so made it even better. The taco lacked a little flavor also. The facility inside is nice and the staff was friendly.

F
Faye Faye

I’m a regular and love their short rib bowl. Good quality meat and very flavorful marinating. Minus one star since last time I went the meat proportion was at least 20% less than this photo. Will try to go back for the same item and see if it was just that one time.

The food is really good, and if you ever see their food truck it's a good choice. Prices are a bit high, but wait times are around 10 mins for a really good meal.

The service by staff very good. But this place is still living in behind the counter Covid Era. I was hoping to dine in like at Fremont location and ended up having to eat my food in the car 🤨👎👎👎👎👎

Ordered the ahi salad and it was delicious! Also ordered two Masubi, was impressed on the size but the rice was crunchy, so disappointing.

I usually come here once or twice a month as a treat to myself. For whatever reason when I went today I got more than half of my to go container full of salad and barely any meat. I ordered a chicken bowl. Usually it's a nice half and half. No, this was like 3/4 salad and rest was chicken and rice. Waste of $11. Will not be coming here again

The food is just good. Honestly the wait time didn't take too long but the service was a little bothersome due to the fact that the cashier was bit too rude. I understand that a lot of these places appreciate it more when you order online, so he might have been annoyed, but it was mine and my wife's first time there so it wasn't that well of an experience. Sorry not sorry.

So I ordered a beef taco and let me say it was pretty amazing in taste…potion was good. Also ordered the chicken bowl and it wasn’t so good the portion of meat absolutely sucks…and the flavor of this gross. And fyi next time someone gets a to go order please put eating utensils and napkins in the bag. Thanks!

Had a similar experience to some of the reviews below. I ordered via kiosk in-store because it seemed like the workers were actively avoiding us. Received a text that our order was ready, but it took another 10 minutes to actually receive the food. The service was pretty much non-existent. The food was over cooked as well. I’d avoid this location until it works out its wrinkles.

I've tried the food truck in SF so I was interested in trying it at the Dublin location on my lunch break. It is a fusion style cuisine so be prepared for that. Being of korean background I tend to prefer the authentic flavors but they do petty good with their selection of bowls, sandwiches and tacos. One thing to note is that you will find the flavor profiles to be more on the sweet side. especially with their sauces and marinades. I'm sure there is a huge demographic that loves this style of cuisine though. My last visit I had the beef bowl and Kamikaze fries (I was hungry). Again, tasty but the marinade was pretty sweet. The interior is interesting, strong bay area vibes with a mix of down home style. Cool, but interesting. Just a heads up, if you come to the Dublin location, parking can be pretty chaotic. It's a high volume, high traffic area with smaller spots so I would park farther than usual and get a couple steps in lol. In closing, yes I will go back and it may be a good introduction for someone that has never had Korean/Japanese food.

I wasn't impressed with the food. It lacked taste and the portions was very small for the price. We ate there which was a mistake because we kept getting attacked by flying insects. I won't revisit this restaurant again.

They now include a mandatory 3% service charge on every order. This is hidden in the tax field of the kiosk. I don't support deceptive pricing and their dining room still feels like COVID.

D

2 stars because the food was good. I don't know if we caught them on a bad day, but there's 0 customer service. They didn't greet us when we walked in, they brought us our food and didn't say anything, no "goodbye, thank you for coming". As weird as it sounds but I've had better service from Wienersnitzel. We stood there for 5 minutes before we realized we were supposed to order from a screen that was off to the side. I chalked up to bad timing but others were greeted and rung up and questions answered. I won't be back. The food was good but not good enough for me to come back and possibly be subject to that again.

When I first tried Koja 6 years ago it was amazing ... as it became more popular I noticed a decline in the over all quality of the food. This was important considering the price they charge ... I then had a major issue at the the Koja in Dublin... the food was awful. So I stopped going for over a year ... I went back last year during covid... it restored my faith in their food. Until today. Almost $10 for Soy wings 4 of them and they suck. The original Koja ... terrible!!!! I go to pick up the food and the staff are just watching TV. I'm done with this chain

E

Great idea, executed poorly. The koja burger should be pretty good but the one I got was mostly gristle. The short rib fries also should have been good, but the fries were stale and cold... I've had the food truck before and it was a good experience... Unfortunate disappointment this time.

Seating in this Dublin location is more comfortable than the one in SF. But wait..... I ordered a chicken taco and where’s the chicken?? This should be called a “half chicken taco”, as shown in the picture.

Seems like they changed the recipe? Used to love the food truck 10yrs ago. Tried physical one in San Mateo, still great. Moved to East Bay, came to Dublin for jury duty and was excited to see one here. Was sooo disappointed! Pork was cooked separate from the amazing sauce they used to have. The bit of it they dribbled on top was bland. Hope maybe it's just this one, cuz this was a favorite

Ordered pick up online from this location while traveling for work on a Sunday night. Arrived about 15minutes before close at 7:45pm and the store was empty of all workers and customers, lights were off, and the door was closed. As a frequent customer of Koja tried to work with the store manager to receive a refund but they refused to refund the order even though the store was closed and the order was not made. Very disappointed with how Koja treats their customers.

I just walked in and am highly disappointed with the lack of customer service from EACH employee. We walked inside and were not greeted by any of the 3 people on the floor. After waiting for a few minutes we asked them if they were perhaps closed since no one came to greet us nor take our order. One guy responded “yes” and returned to sitting down looking at his phone/tablet and then walked away. There were no other guests in the restaurant. Two employees were sitting down and one was sweeping. We decided to leave and will be taking our business elsewhere.

Probably the worst chicken sandwich Ive had in my life. Razor thin, gristly piece of meat that seemed to have been leftovers from the day before. Sadly, it makes a McChicken look gourmet in comparison.

M
Matthias Daeumer

We got the fries and "THE ORIGINAL KOJA". The fries tasted like they had sat there for over an hour while the Koja was straight dripping in oil. It created an oil pool on the food that made the BP oil spill look small.

We made our order online to be picked up at 7:17pm and we got it at 8pm. When I asked the staff they were ignoring everyone. Terrible service at least acknowledge your customers if you are running late ! Plus food was cold too

I heard great things about this place from a friend of mine. The food looks really good. The description of what's in and on the food sounds delicious, but when you bite into it, the only thing that comes to mind is regret. The chicken sandwich was chewy and dry, the wings were lacking in flavor, and the only enjoyable items I had ordered were the mint tea and the waffle fries. Maybe it was an off day, but I truly regret having this as my first meal of the day.

We are used to be a fan of Koja Kitchen. But today order is a total disappointment. The musubi was like left over food from yesterday (rice is supposed to be sticky but it keeps falling apart, cold and hard). The fries are totally cold. Will not be back again anytime soon.

Very much love the food from this place but the employees at this location really ruin it. Second time they forgot I ordered. Food is poorly prepared and when asking to get a refund for a order that took over 30 mins to prepare and that wasn’t even correct I was asked if “You can’t just wait a bit longer?”instead of receiving my refund.

I was standing by the register for 5 minutes and no body took my order, there was no else in restaurant and they saw me standing there, and didn’t tell me to wait for little, just didn’t bother saying anything so I left :(

"When food trucks fail at becoming a scalable brick and mortar franchise" Walked in and there was literally one other person in the restaurant before us (who seemed as frustrated then, as we do now 30 mins later). Cherry in top were the money wasted on the orders of raw and uncooked large waffle fries and Kamikaze loaded fries ($21 of the $69 order). 0/10 do not recommend and would not return. Ain't nothing like the real thing when it comes to food trucks, unfortunately. Your original truck would've served us twice by now, even at the busiest off the grid at Fort Mason. Am I missing something here or do the employees just not care?
