This is the perfect place for a romantic breakfast, lunch or dinner. Prices are responsible. The ambience is splendid. The staff made us feel welcomed. We enjoyed our brunch. If you are looking for something a little bit more upscale, this is the place!
Service was friendly and the food was delicious! Make reservations to insure a seat, and you can also request a table location. Our waitress was friendly. It's a slower pace dining experience so don't be in a rush. They have a beautiful patio overlooking the Boise river.
Quiet so you can talk, great place for a date night. Food was delicious. I had the lamb and my wife had the chicken masala. Large portions and great flavor. The shrimp appetizer and wedge salad were delicious too. If I lived in the area I would be back.
Happy we found Bella Aquila open on Easter because we really wanted Italian. The outside was open for seating and that was fine for us. It was a beautiful evening and their seating is next to the Boise River. They had a fairly large wine list for the bottle and a bit smaller for by the glass. There was a decent list of housemade cocktails as well. We started with bruschetta and were pleased with the presentation. It was a large serving with extra crostini's upon request. The tomatoes were separate, so you could build your own. The half salad option was great since my wife wanted the house salad and I wanted Caesar of course. The complimentary bread were thin pie sliced triangles which I thought was like a pizza dough. It was warm and soft and my 14 year old couldn't stop eating it. Our entrées were very good. I had the Fettuccine Bianco which was a seafood mixture over what tasted like fresh made pasta to me. Absolutely a perfect mixture of seafood to pasta. The wife had the mushroom risotto which could have been served in a five gallon bucket it was so big. The flavor was as big to match the serving size. The 14 year old got the most expensive dish on the menu. He chose the 8 oz wagyu filet which was so tender and so flavorful, he regretted eating all the bread first. Service was pleasant and we didn't feel neglected at all. We will definitely go again, but it will probably be a special occasion spot. Sorry for no food pics. We ate it too fast! The photo I posted was the view from our table.
The atmosphere was very romantic, great place to go for an anniversary or any other special occasion. The food had a unique taste, it felt like I was actually eating authentic Italian food. I have gone to other Italia restaurants but it did not have the same taste as the food in Bella Aquila, the pizza appetizer was to die for as well. The service was one of the best I have experienced, very friendly and attentive, if there was a way to give more then 5 stars I would give it to Bella Aquila.
Beautiful ambience and patio. Especially delicious food. And if you get in during the fall season, you gotta try the Blueberry Whiskey Bramble. Amazingly satisfying. Love everything about this place and staff.
Excellent appetizers and really enjoyed my cocktail. Service was spot on. Enjoyed our time here and hope to go back soon.
Exceptional food! I ordered seasonal Salmon and it was perfectly prepared with fingerling potatoes, carrots, shallots and olives. My wife had shallot ravioli which was cooked aldente to perfection. Service is almost as good.
Wonderful Mother's Day Brunch 🌷 Highly recommend Bella Aquila. My son and his fiance from Florida took myself and two friends to the best brunch ever! We all loved it very much...And those unlimited mimosas, yes indeed. 😍
Wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Reasonably priced, will definitely go again.
Superb Italian meal! Angel hair with Bolognese sauce. Dessert was Creme Brulee. Yum!
Food tasted great and the service was very nice. The ambiance is wonderful and was not crowded at all which was a real surprise. We went there for lunch and had their Roast Beef French Dip special and the Italian club. Both meals were delicious and the sweet potato fries were great. The only negative was the free bread they give which didn't have any flavor...but hey it's free. Overall it's a 5 star for us!
Just the best Restaurant for an intimate dinner or a large group of friends. Saturday evening after church I surprised my wife with an impromptu dinner. (No reservations) We were greeted by Blake at the door, who went Into the best customer service. Our waiter was Chris who also was excellent and attentive. The supporting staff were the best, making our evening a great success. Thank you to all.
We didn't have reservations, but the two of us managed an early table on a weekday right at the windows overlooking the outdoor water feature and river. Service was attentive without being in your face. The menu was fairly extensive, supplying a wide range of choices for various diets and tastes. We found our food to be quite good (cioppino and scallops) and reasonable priced. We'll be back when in the area.
Wife and I went for a date night. Nice place with outdoor dining right on the river. Tuck in your shirt or don't, mix of t-shirts and button up. Great service and great food. I had paella (special) at an Italian restaurant, but the rice was like risotto. And the fish was awesome, smoked sturgeon, prawns, mussels, clams, andouli sausage. I ordered a mushroom risotto as well because you can't have enough risotto and it was great as well. 5 stars for sure, but the prawns should have been peeled, and a little more salt. We'll be back, hoping this is our new go to. Reasonable prices too.
Lovely view, outdoor seating is nice almost any time of year (even in the cold). Overall the food is good. Had a bad experience the first time I ate here but must have just been a bad night. I've eaten here 3 times since and it's been a great experience.
I was raised in an Itallian household so my expectations are very high, this place was great. I ordered the cioppino, reminded me of my grandma's cooking, it was delish! My husband got the sirloin, it was a little over cooked but still very yummy. The atmosphere was great, very inviting. We sat outside with river views it was great!
The food was the right temperature, rich and creamy flavors. The bread was amazing! If getting the calamari I recommend it for 4 people that way it gets eaten before it cools. The service was well timed to boot. We appreciated our server, Naomi keeping things at a good place. It was nice not feeling rushed.
We had our sons rehearsal dinner here with 20 guests. It was a pleasure to plan this from long distance with the help of Nicole, manager of the restaurant. She was very accommodating , quick to respond to all my needs, special requests and questions. At the restaurant our server Evan along with Nicole were attentive with excellent service. Everyone had a very nice time . The scampi pasta dish was outstanding with wonderful layers of flavors beautifully presented. I don’t recall the name of soup of the day, it was outstanding , a creamy crab and mushroom soup. I recommend this restaurant for any special occasion for a large group .
Beautiful patio and excellent food! We were well taken care of by our server, Mallorie. Caesar salad was good, although dressing could have used more garlic for my taste. Scallops were excellent and steak was perfectly cooked. Wine list had something for everyone and reasonably priced
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great and there are beautiful views of the river from the patio. On this visit, I had blackened salmon with asparagus and fettuccine in a cream sauce. It was so yummy!! The staff was very good. Highly recommend this place.
A friend of mine, my daughters, and I ate here a few weeks ago. I ordered chicken masala, my daughters ordered cheese tortellini and a cheese pizza, and my friend ordered the special, which was veal. We were all very very pleased with our food. It was all very good. The atmosphere is very nice too. Where we were sitting, we could look out the window at beautiful scenery. The staff was great too and we received excellent service.
Amazing food! And a large wine selection along with it. Staff was friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door. I had their chicken marsala and a chardonnay. The chicken was cooked to perfection and along side some delicious pasta and vegetables. I will definitely be returning here to try more of their dishes in the future.
I had my wedding at Bella Aquila, August 8th, 2013. There are not enough good words I can say about it. They have an amazing banquet menu. The staff was amazing. They were kind enough to let us use the private patio for our ceremony. The location is great! It has such a nice view. They were willing to arrange the banquet room so that we had a small dance floor. My maid of honor is completely grain free so she was not planning to eat there BUT they were amazing and offered to cook her some vegetables and chicken that she was able to eat. The food was delicious and the plating was beautiful. I would recommend this place over and over.
The food was out of this world and the wait staff was fantastic. We were there for Valentine's day, so they were very busy, but our reservation was ready on arrival, which, was a pleasant surprise. I had the Mediterraneanio (marvelous spinach pasta dish) with prawns, and my wife had the salmon. The portion was so generous that I got filled up so they boxed it up for me. Somehow it disappeared from our refrigerator around 1AM. Like Arnold says, "I'll be back"
We celebrated my step fathers birthday here tonight and it was a great experience! The service was top notch and the food was amazing. I am so impressed with this restaurant. This was the third time I've eaten here and it was excellent every time. I highly recommend!
The food was excellent. Appetizers and entrees were prepare as they should be. It's slightly pricey, but appropriately stop. The service was a little shaky at first but our waiter eventually came around. It was a little warm to try out the patio but we'all likely try that next time.
The host was amazing. We came in on a Saturday for lunch in t shirts and shorts, not realizing we probably should have been dressed a little better . He made us feel MORE than welcome. Seated us. Had great customer service all around. Amazing food. But if it wasn't for the host my wife and our son probably would have left. And he had a great tie. Lol!
We had a great dinner. Big menu to choose from. Atmosphere is nice & not loud. You can actually able to visit as a couple. Now their outside patio is open & great view of the Boise River. If someone is looking for a place to unwind & have some good food - this is the place. The only negative is they don't have little or no Idaho wine. They need to correct that.
We went here for a date night. We made a reservation beforehand, but traffic was INSANE (maybe a wreck?) so we called while stuck in standstill traffic to let the restaurant know we were inevitably going to be late. The hostess assured us that would be fine, they would keep the table and not cancel our reservation (which we totally would have understood). Well, we got there and the hostess at the front asked our names. We mentioned we were late, apologizing again, and she replied with a rude and snarky "You sure are [late]." I was kinda shocked that she was so openly rude to us. That cast a damper on our evening, but the server was very professional and kind, and I would've given this place a 4 star if it weren't for the calamari appetizer. It was like chunky breaded "steak fries", not at all what I was expecting and honestly pretty gross. The soup and salad and pasta dishes we tried were good.
42 of us went as planned. A pre-dinner arraigned before a wedding weeks ahead. Food took over an hour to make it to the table. Wife said hers was cold, mine was chewy. I'm sure people in the group wanted to say something. I have talked to other people that frequent the restaurant and had been very happy. The service was very good. The lady and gentleman that kept our glasses full worked hard to please. I'm glad no one pointed them out for what had happened
Bella Aquilla has great ambiance but the service is hit and miss. The appetizers and specialty drinks are always good. The main dishes are usually very good. However, I have experienced really great service and really poor service. Some of the staff seem to do the bare minimum to get by leaving you with the feeling they'd rather be somewhere else. That said, I still go there hoping I get one of the great servers.
It was okay. Great ambiance on the patio. Can't say much about the food. Italian needs a great marinara. Nothing to write home about. Just what was the orange spread that was served with the bread? Looked like the pimento cheese stuff you buy in a jar at the grocery store. Can't complain about the wine list. The bar was beautiful. I'll probably consider them for lunch but not dinner.
We chose this place over a popular restraint directly across the street. After sat we were excited for some real Italian pizza. We order a salad and the salmon dip appetizer. The presentation on both of these was amazing. The salad although beautiful was over done and had hardly any good flavors or density to it. The reason this got 2/5 stars though is the pizza. The pizza was recommended by our server and turned out to be the WORST pizza I have had in my entire life. I understand this is not a pizzeria but it was recommended by the staff of the restaurant. The pizza was horrible with bland sauce, a crust that was most likely pre made and not only felt like cardboard but tasted like it, and had copious amounts of what resembled mozzarella but so much so it was just cheese goop. The “Margherita Pizza literally just had whole pieces of raw tomato plopped atop the cheese. I am a true pizza lover and love just about anything the even resembles pizza but this was just awful to The point that not one of the three of us could eat it and we ended up finishing our drinks and appetizers and leaving.
We arrived at 12:30 for lunch. We left at 2. And there were 2 others tables there besides us. The waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time, we never got our appetizer we ordered, and the food was very bland and tasteless. I was not impressed.
We have eaten here a number of times over the past 4 years, as we live nearby. The ambiance is quiet, pleasant, and clean. Located on the north channel of the river beneath shady trees, this restaurant has a terrific location and feel. The staff greet guests with a smile, but the servers are often working too many tables to be attentive. We have dined at Bella on our own and with friends, and regardless of the number of people in the group, the food is consistently lacking in presentation and satisfaction. After several tries we have opted to no longer frequent Bella Aquilla because we are usually disappointed with the food we receive.
Very slow service, they were busy and had lots of prom kids. The steak in the steak salad was over cooked, and was cut into three big chunks instead of several thinly sliced pieces like one would expect. The chicken Caesar was mediocre. We would have sent it back but the server was nowhere to be seen for long periods of time. The atmosphere is nice, I think they are overloading their servers. I also found it interesting no one asked how was your food? I think they know better than to ask.
This was our family favorite for many years but the past 2 years food hasn't been the best. Being the loyal customers we kept going back but our last visit it was very disappointing. The pizza barely had cheese, the pasta sauce was too dense and did not taste fresh, gnocchi was not delicate. The meat in the steak salad was too rare. Wish the food can improve because we love the ambiance and the beautiful view from our table.
Tasteless food, and everything was mediocre for such an expensive restaurant. I'm a huge lover of anything pasta. My husband and I went here for a date once. I ordered the seafood fettuccine after it was recommended to me by our waiter. I was pretty excited but when I took the first bite it lacked any flavor. I added salt which hardly helped. But the worse part of it was they have the shells still in there and one of them was crushed into tiny pieces so I couldn't pick them out and with almost every bite I found a shell with my teeth. I could've sent it back but didn't because it was tasteless to begin with. I ate a little bit more before my teeth could no longer handle it. I don't remember our waiters name. He wa professional and kind but I feel he did the bare minimum.. I won't complain about that too much because dealing with people is hard. Nothing about the waiting staff stood out to me, I wasn't really exceptionally service. I don't really feel this is true italian. I think it's more like an expensive olive garden, except olive garden has more flavor in their dishes. However, I only tried three things so perhaps other dishes are better? When we got our table our plates, silverware and glasses were dirty from just sitting outside or not being washed. The material of these items seemed really cheap for a restaurant that seems to be really "fancy" and expensive. The pros, the area is beautiful and peaceful. It's right next to the greenbelt so it's really nice to people watch. It's quiet, which is also a plus. You can see the river and lots of trees in the surrounding area. The patio is truly an excellent place to be. I don't think we waited long for anything. I see a lot of reviews where the wait was awful, that was not our experience so hopefully they have been better about that now, they were with us. I haven't been able to bring myself back after such a disappointing visit. Usually I would try again before writing a poor review but the pricing is too expensive for food that is bland.
Decent at best overpriced Italian food. Bartender was really good at mixing drinks(great mules) but the food was god awful. Asked for bread twice and never got it.Arrabiata pasta was so saucy with 3 tiny little pieces of sausage. With a 200 dollar bill(with tip 240) for 3 people I’d expect so much better. Nobody was happy with what they got. 2 stars for ambiance and drinks. Food, service, and pricing were absurdly bad. Fat thumbs down on this place.
The best thing I can say about this establishment is that the patio dining next to the river is second to none in ambiance. However, it is horribly managed. The service was the worst I’ve experienced in the past two years. 20 minutes to see the waiter for the first time, 30 minutes to receive our cocktails, and over an hour wait for our meal. The food wasn’t bad, but the terrible service ruined the evening. A decent manager running this place could turn it around into one of the top restaurants in the valley.
I went to this restaurant a year ago and it was fabulous! Went last night and so disappointed. We had to ask for things repeatedly and when food arrived, barely warm. Our waiter would disappear for extended periods of time. I gave two stars because of the wonderful outdoor patio. Based on previous reviews, hopefully they can turn things around.
Unfortunately we had a poor experience here. We went for an early mother’s day dinner with friends and had a 6:30 reservation. The service was incredibly slow and we didn’t get our food for 2+ hours. The food was average for high end prices. Our server was pleasant but I felt like the place was just very poorly managed and I felt bad for her. Thankfully we were with good company and the ambience was quite nice. I can’t recommend it and I wouldn’t go back except maybe to have a drink and enjoy the river view.
Was not happy with the whole experience. First got there we ordered drinks, appetizer while we waited for or friends to show up. It took 20 minutes for our drinks then another 15 minutes for our appetizer. We then ordered a 2nd appetizer hoping to get soon. As our friends showed up they ordered there drinks 15 minutes later they got there drinks but still no appetizer. As we ordered our food it took another 20 minutes for our meal to be served. And still no appetizer so we asked our waitress about them and she replied good question I don't know I will check. She comes back and tells us she don't know what happened and she will take it off our bill. There were more problems the rest of the time there but I already wasted time eating there. Service was terrible food was not the best tasting most employees were standing by the hostess desk just talking like there was nothing else to do. We will not be going back total disappointment.
This place was amazing last year! My wife and I went in April for her B-day. What a disgusting nightmare mess of food, and service. We had to return the apps, one entree, the other they wouldn't take back, and the dessert was garbage. The Calamari was chewy like rubber, like it was near rotten. The server said "I understand if you don't want to come back here." Instead of I don't know, sorry everything is disgusting. It isn't like we ate the food and then tried to send it back, it was so bad we had to send it back right from the get go. Manager came out and couldn't care less. Seemed like we burdened him with our complaints about the garbage food. NEVER AGAIN!
Arrived @ 1:30 was seated outside; pleasant, wonderful view. Less than 15 people seated, most already done with their meals. Waitress took our drink/appetizer order and we never saw her again. After 15 mins of waiting for our drinks, we look around, other tables are also anxious. We got up and left. As we are walking out another patron hears us complaining about the service, she turns and says " I agree, the service is lousy and the place has gone downhill" We won't be back
I read the single star reviews and basically, they were right...at least for lunch. We had several different dishes, some including 'fresh made' pasta. If that was fresh made, I will eat my hat. In fact, I kinda wish I had. I can only figure (and I'm just making this up, but it seems right) that they used pasta left over from the previous night. The ravioli was pretty much inedible (again, fresh, supposedly) and the calamari, well I spit it out. I can't remember ever having spit out calamari. Again, it must have been from the previous night is all I can figure. We did have some good food. The salmon cakes were excellent and the mac and cheese that went with it was very good as well. This was a special for the day and oddly enough, the inedible calamari came with it. The salads were also very good, especially the house salad. I wanted to give this restaurant 2 stars because of the one good meal, the salads and for the good wait service we received, but alas I could not. I should have sent about $100 of food back, so as far as I'm concerned, they owe me $100 and that burns my hide, so 1 star it is. I was assured by the person in our party who recommended this restaurant that dinner and Sunday brunch were fantastic. I think that is a possibility if you order the right things at the right time of day you could have some good food. However, I'll not be risking my money again here anytime soon, especially at dinner prices. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Bella Aquila, but this meal was a disaster.
Server was nice, but the food was awful. The carpaccio was served lukewarm, which is disconcerting. The chicken parm was honestly comparable to a reheated frozen dinner. The linguine was served a doughy consistency and both my husband & I’s dishes were EXTREMELY over salted. It was so salty that our lips were burning on the way out. We didn’t have appetizer plates or forks, so we had to wait another 5 minutes to eat once we had our food in front of us for them to get us utensils (on top of the hour we waited after we ordered). I’m thoroughly disappointed with our entire experience.
Atmosphere decent, food below average, service abysmal. Went here for my sons birthday. Patio had a nice atmosphere, but my steak was riddled with veins, they got 2 of the 6 orders wrong, and their pasta was very average. The worst part of the evening was that our server Andrew would literally disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. It got so ridiculous, we had to ask other servers to go find him...which did not seem to help as they would also disappear. The kicker came at the end if the evening. The place was hardly even busy, yet it took us like 20 minutes just to get our bill. Apparently as a party of 6, a 20% tip is automatically included. I guess they even took the opportunity to leave a bad tip away from me. I would not waste your time with this place - there are way too many good restaurants out there to spend top dollar on this mismanaged mess of a place.
We chose Bella Aquila specifically to enjoy a romantic dinner on a beautiful patio on the river. Being Eagle residents, we have the luxury of choosing between many fine restaurants. We had a reservation and arrived on time. We waited 20 minutes before being served our wine/beer. After our order was taken, we waited an additional 45 minutes before being served. We fully understand a busy restaurant and sometimes wait times are longer than normal. The biggest problem was the quality of our meals. My “seafood Bianca” had been sitting out for a long time before being served. The “seafood” was microscopic and the pasta had no sauce. The gnocchi (with added chicken) was plentiful but tasteless and the chicken breast tasted as cardboard-obviously cooked long before and reheated to accompany the gnocchi. Bottom line...don’t waste your precious time and money on this establishment. I might add this is the 4th visit over many years and not an anomaly.
