On floor 7, don't be fooled about the entrance. It's behind the silver door. Cocktails excellent. Try the Kai. We are vegetarian, and Azahar had several tasty options. Staff is abundant and easy going. The deep house music mix was still too energetic and loud for us though. A plus, the restaurant validates the convenient valet parking.
Ate dinner here our first full day in Panama. We love that it had a unique entrance. The service was great with everyone being very friendly. The food was delicious. My husband had the grouper and I had the ravioli. Both very good. I had the sangria which was good. And for dessert we had the tres leche and apple pie, both of which weren’t exactly what we were expecting but were interesting takes on classics.
Best meal we had in Panama. Sat outside which is an amazing view. Service was really fast and food was great. The mushroom risotto was my favorite. Sushi rolls were also very good. Went on Sunday night and there was a nice vibe. I’m sure even better on Friday and Saturday nights.
This restaurant is almost like a speakeasy with the secret door entry. But once you figure out entry it's absolutely incredible. From the indoor ambiance to the outdoor terrace. Spectacular views. Excellent food. Great service. Couldn't ask for anything more.
I had the most amazing birthday dinner here on December 4th. The staff were attentive and friendly. I cant remember the name lf my waiter at this time but the next day was his birthday too. Upon entry into the restaurant it was nothing short of cheer and welcome. I chose to be seated out on the balcony and the views were breathtaking. Everything I ordered was delicious and I'm glad I chose this space to celebrate my dinner
Wow, I had a phenomenal lunch here today. Its a bit of a speakeasy so I had no idea my place was so close to such a great restaurant. Once you find it, you walk into a very beautiful dining space. Service was immaculate. The food was some of the best I've eaten in months. The menu was really creative, creating a fusion of asian and European flavors with central American ingredients. I don't particularly care for sweets but even the desserts were life changing. A must visit!
You can only do one thing when a restaurant is recommended by everyone you encounter….gooooo! And enjoy it for yourself! The atmosphere is a tad bit whimsical for my taste…Moet bottles, garlands of lights, gift wrapping and boxing for florals, and an electric violinist. No worries, as the food takes the spotlight here and it’s nothing short of amazing! Not one piece of bread or seasoned butter was left behind nor did that perfectly medium well skirt steak stand a chance once I tasted it! The Chilean sea bass ceviche was delicious & paired quite well with its sweet potato mixture. The cocktails were carefully crafted by a team of mixologists behind the bar, as was the sushi by the team (8-9) at the sushi bar. No room for dessert though🙃 Great 1st night in town option! I would definitely return on my next trip to Panama!
A must visit! For a family of four (2 kids + 2 adults) we spent $180 for dinner. That’s without dessert and alcohol drinks. We decided on dessert at a cafe at our hotel which had what we wanted. They do NOT have a kid’s menu but they have kid-friendly options. Meals we had: 1. Lamb 2. Short Ribs 3. 2 Grilled chicken breast + French fries (kids) 4 Drinks: 2 Lemonades, 2 Mocktails (hibiscus breeze) 5. Onion soup 6. Lamb Dumpling bites Atmosphere: Absolutely loved the rooftop views and the atmosphere was quite lovely. I think it is fitting for a family or couple. Very romantic. Music wasn’t too loud either. Service: The service was premier. Every server was attentive and often asked how was the meal. They offered to take photos and although didn’t speak English, they did their best to understand and respond. Professional and pleasant. Noteworthy: I enjoyed the booth with the flowers named Madame butterfly. Perfect location for last minute or surprise treat for a date. As tourist that have no knowledge of local vendors, this was an added touch to our experience as My husband was able to purchase roses for both my daughter and I. Also, the bread in the dresser was an impressionable experience. Such a signature stamp that will make us remember our time at Azahar. Suggestion: The only small suggestion I’d make is for the team to take note of special occasions mentioned in bookings. We mentioned we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, huge milestone, and a little gesture—like a candle or ‘Happy Anniversary’ plate would add an extra memorable touch to an already incredible experience. Overall a great experience and our top choice!
Such a cool experience, Panama has absolutely blown me away with their creativity and flavor. Great service and an innovative menu. Much respect to the chef
This place is special! Filet was butter and Short rib was amazing too. View if outside is wonderful and interior is sexy as it gets! 5 star service. A no brainer to book a table here!
This restaurant is a mix of Japanese and Italian food with awesome taste. You enter the reasturant through a florist shops freezer door. It has a mix of inside seating, outside seating, and bar seating. The service was prompt and courteous. My group at the complimentary bread to start and then ordered the Mr. Miyagi sushi, Tony Stark sushi, and the Pork Belly. All food was great and taste wonderful. After dinner we indulged in the Tres Leche and Aplle Pie desert. They did not disappoint. This was a great speakeasy style entry that was well appilointed on the inside. I would definitely go back again and again.
A very high-quality restaurant with excellent service. The atmosphere is more comfortable and cozy inside the restaurant, although if you want more of a bar vibe and a city view, it’s better to sit on the rooftop. I really enjoyed the mushroom risotto, the tomato soup was delicious, and the fish was also wonderful.
Our experience was wonderful. The atmosphere was romantic, and beautiful. We sat outside and the views were breathtaking. The food was out of this world and the presentation was like art. We had the seabass and the short ribs and both were exploding with flavor. The apple pie looked like art, it was so unique, and delicious. It's a must try! Our server Billi was attentive, helpful, and very pleasant. 10/10 recommend this place.
Exceptional! Great views, cool decor and inventive food. Loved the feta and pear salad. The presentation of the food was unique. Highly recommend!
Wow, that was some great food. I thought my lamb shops were good until I tasted my wife's groper with truffle foam. Wow
Details on Google showed that this was a family friendly restaurant with high chairs available. When my wife and kid arrived, it was clearly a more upscale speakeasy restaurant. My fault for not researching more. Regardless the staff were very friendly and welcoming even with my kid. Got the following: Drinks - Apple Mule - Azahar Spritz 2.0 Appetizer - Escargot Mains - Filet Mignon - Branzino Everything was amazing! Great cocktails. The escargot was cooked with mushrooms and served with toast. Earthy and delicious. The Filet Mignon was the most tender cut I’ve ever had! The whole branzino fish was the best. The avocado risotto it came with was so creamy and delicious! This place is perfect for a date/night out, or if you dare to bring your kid along apparently!
What a great “hidden” restaurant. There’s no signs and the main door looks like a freezer door and it’s inside a flower shop. Hidden, just like an outlawed speakeasy. Lots of fun. Very elegant inside. We sat outside looking over the bay. I had the 3 mushroom risotto and my brother in law had the spare ribs. Both were excellent. The photo does not do justice to the risotto, it was beyond excellent.
I was visiting from US just to eat here, great location and great ambiance. However food was okay some of the things we ordered weren’t available which sucked. The presentation was amazing. The salad, sushi, lamb etc. they were okay!
So delish. The best food I ate in Panama. The cream corn soup and the skirt steak 🥩 oh my goodness
I wish I could give more stars! The space, the service, the presentation - amazing! I stayed at Hilton next door and walked over here for dinner! Booked a table on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful sunset and city skyline as well! I tried several seafood dishes and desert! I won’t be able to pick my favorite! Fish was so fresh, and the “apple” desert was a great surprise! Absolutely be back and highly recommend! Oh and a speakeasy concept - very cool!
Definitely one. Of my top five in Panama, white tablecloth restaurant, great views, great food, great service. You’ll love it.
Really great spot to enjoy a delicious meal. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while and the service is excellent. All the other dishes we tried were a hit as well. Definitely swing by if you’re in Panama!
The food was fantastic! The decoration is gorgeous and the wait people are very nice. We were very impressed by the little things, like the entry way, they was they gave us our bread, our appetizers such as the veggie sushi roll and the dumplings were really good! Me and my friend both took the tomato and goat cheese risotto, did not regret my choice at all! Would highly recommend!
The location is fantastic, and the view is stunning, though it was a bit tricky to find. It’s on the 7th floor, and when we arrived, we didn’t see anyone around. After trying to find our way up and down a few times, we finally decided to knock on what looked like a heavy industrial fridge door. Suddenly, the breathtaking view appeared right before our eyes. The service was impeccable—everyone was friendly, warm, and went out of their way to help. We started with warm, fresh popovers and house-made butter. 5*Caprese Salad: The fresh tomatoes, cheese, basil, and pesto created a delightful combination of flavors. Very tasty. 5*Bourguignon Escargot: A half dozen large escargots mixed with shiitake, portobello, and porcini mushrooms, artichoke, and bourguignon butter. Unlike many French escargot dishes, this one used less butter, making it less greasy while still packed with flavor. 4.5*Mushroom Trio: Portobello, crimini, and porcini mushrooms with Parmigiano Reggiano DOC cream and a hint of black truffle scent. The dish was full of flavor, but the sauce was a bit heavy. Health-conscious diners may want to avoid this one, though it’s still a great choice. 4.3* Pork Belly: Served with spicy garlic miso, enoki mushrooms, turnip puree, and kale. It was slightly drier than expected, but still a solid dish overall. We are eager to go back and try other dishes!
I had a wonderful experience at Azahar! I felt taken care right from the start. Great seating in the main dining room over looking the sushi bar. Our waitstaff was very attentive, the cocktails were yummy, the food was delicious, and plated creatively. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Even though I was confused by the hidden entrance I enjoyed the playfulness of the whole experience.
¡Qué sopa, fren! We have immensely enjoyed our three visits to this gorgeous restaurant located in the Yoo building. The food is divine and the service is impeccable! We love to save up our appetites and then go BIG with an abundance of small plates. There are so many flavor profiles to savor! Some of our favorites have been the escargot with mushrooms; smoked white tuna carpaccio, Terminator, Sinatra and Merry Crunchiness sushi rolls; truffle fries and sweet potato mash with almonds. In our experience, the bar drinks are tasty and beautiful but perhaps don’t pack a boozy punch. For normal people this might not be a problem, but this was the only small critique for my lush husband. (The food is way prettier than the pictures may suggest; the lighting is low for mellow dinner ambience.) As a side note, one of the sweet staff dudes helped us practice our Spanish and even taught us a few Panamanian phrases, unique to the area.
When first enter we didn’t know what to do 😂 since no one was outside greeting us but you had to open the steel door to enter the restaurant. The service was pretty fast since nobody was at the restaurant at 6-7pm but at 8pm people starting to come in. The food was amazing and reasonable price unlike other restaurant that has meat that cost over 100$ which is insane but they had amazing dishes such as sushi, stake, and dessert. Overall, amazing experience didn’t have any problem with having a baby in the restaurant running around and making noises and the staff was nice 👍🏻
One of my favorite place to eat dinner and I speak easy environment adds a special touch to the atmosphere. Service is amazing with mostly all English speaking staff. The b balcony views of the city at sunset are stunning. The restaurant is two buildings up (North) from the Hilton Panama Hotel but the entrance is in an office building so be sure look for the restaurant sign.
Another amazing experience at Azahar. We came here 3 years ago and tonight we went back as it had been one of our best restaurant experiences on our last trip. This time was just as amazing. We went with our three young children for an earlier dinner. All the wait staff were friendly, polite, and willing to do what it took to make our experience as enjoyable as possible. The drinks were amazingly delicious (spicy margarita was a delight) and all our dishes were beautifully presented and they all had delicate and unique flavors. Highly recommend this amazing restaurant for the dishes, the service and the fun “hidden” entrance within the flower shop.
After a slight confusion on how to get into the restaurant (thru the flower shop cooler door), I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The service was excellent & the food phenomenal with a very creative presentation! Delightful experience!
We went last night for my birthday and everything was wonderful. We had a table on the terrace with a view of the Cinta Costera Avienida Balboa. For drinks we ordered the Oaxaca Memories a mezcal based cocktails that’s fresh & full of flavor & Hibicus Breeze Mocktail. The homemade rolls were fresh from the oven nice seasoned & fluffy. The tuna pizza is excellent the taste of truffle was super nice. We also ordered the lobster risotto along with the sushi roll Maddness Crunichness which was very interesting with all its different flavors & textures. For desert we ordered the Baba Whiskey which was a savory twist to traditional crème brûlée. As it was my birthday they brought it out with a lite fire candle. Everything was lovely, the presentation, the atmosphere. Our waiters Marcelo & Alexis were the best, friendly, attentive on top of everything. Top service, savory rich plates. Highly recommended for a special night out that won’t disappoint.
Fantastic service and atmosphere. The food was great, but a couple of items were just good. Nothing was disappointing.
The restaurant was amazing from the entrance, to the atmosphere, service and incredible food. We arrived earlier than our scheduled reservations and was seated right away. The server was very attentive. The drinks were fantastic. Every dish we ordered came out in a timely fashion and the food was incredible. I would definitely recommend!!!
Excellent restaurant, the food is delicious, the dishes are sophisticated. The staff are very pleasant and professional. We had reserved a table on the terrace, which was not available when we arrived, but the owner quickly found a solution and seated us on the terrace at the edge so we could enjoy a magnificent view throughout our meal. The only downside was that the young woman at the front desk wasn't particularly pleasant. But despite this, I highly recommend this restaurant for a great experience.
Off the charts creative cocktails and food. Service impeccable, and clever. Bread “box”, yes please with light popover style rolls in drawers. Clarified pina colada…all the flavor without the heaviness. Nice, but limited, wines by the glass. Tons of delicious sushi rolls, pear and goat cheese salad wonderful. All entrees terrific. The finale? Cookie dough! Lava cake meets warm chocolate chip cookie! A short walk from our hotel, sorry we won’t be here long enough to go again! Compliments to the team for a memorable evening!
We had dinner and it was very nice. The bread service consisted of buttery popovers that melted in your mouth. Cocktails were delicious and our waiter, Luis, had great wine pairing suggestions for the meal. We tried some sushi rolls & the crudo which were both great. Service was excellent The only ‘miss’ was the beef Wellington since the puff pastry seemed very tough and not flaky. I was offered a choice of knives to cut into my beef Wellington & I struggled to cut it. Either the knife was very dull or the beef was on the tough side despite being cooked medium in doneness.
I expected more from the place with 4.7 stars. We had fish, wagyu beef, sushi rolls, lamb dumplings and shrimp dumplings. It was good but not amazing except for the apple pie that was picture perfect and delicious. PS: I found the freezer style entrance door not matching the overall style of the place.
Good food, on the pricy side. The mains were a bit small but everything was good, staff was very attentive and friendly.
The place is lovely, we sat outside the night city view is breathtaking! They server bread on this very interesting presentation we enjoyed it, we had sushi mostly and it’d say it was good for the price however the dessert!! That was amazing, delicious delicious dessert, the service was great with the server attempting to communicate in English as well we really appreciated it :]
We came to Azahar Panama in May 2023 for a dinner, and were seated outside. It's a narrow balcony and usually fits multiple separate 2-person tables. It's gotta be very romantic and beautiful to see the sunset. But we were a party of 6, and the table had to be set up differently, so it was not as convenient. There was not enough space for the personnel to walk freely, and I was bumped into several times 😔. And even though it was outside, it was a hot and humid evening, and unfortunately, the fan, positioned in the corner, did not have enough reach, leaving us sweaty. So advice for larger groups, ask to be seated inside. And the inside is amazing. Beautiful decor, multiple rooms for parties of different sizes, huge wine cellar walls, flowers... They get 10 out of 5 for that. Unfortunately, when it came to food, it did not match their decor. The food was good, cooked well, mind you, but I guess we expected more. Compared to some other restaurants we visited in Panama City, it was a solid 4, but not enough for 5. Sorry, everything is relative. Still, definitely come here for the sunset, the views, and the overall atmosphere.
This place was pretty incredible! Loved the bites we chose for the night and our friend enjoyed the $200 something flight of whiskey they had on the menu. Japanese whiskeys but I forgot the names. Haha. Everything was so freshly made. If you’re looking for some good food, nice ambience - this place is great. I’m not a desert person normally but enjoyed what they had there. One of my favorite parts was having to reach the floor and walk through a smaller flower shop just to find out a whole restaurant is back there!
Amazing salmon and tuna, great cocktails, and genuinely friendly service. The only downside was the ridiculously loud music - perhaps fine if you're there with a lively group, but a bit absurd for a couple. If you’re out on the balcony, you’ll also hear quite some road noise, so it’s not exactly serene. We went on a Thursday around 9 pm and didn't have a reservation, had no issues getting a table.
Really nice atmosphere and view. The restaurant was very well decorated and has panoramic views of the water and cities. The food was prepared with thought and great presentation. And they have a good drinks menu and vegetarian options. The servers were very attentive and kind. Would rate the food at good, not great or super memorable, aside from presentation. Though you can tell everything is made fresh and with care. The atmosphere and attention to detail is where the restaurant shines.
super chic restaurant hidden behind a secret flower shop with Asian and Latin American inspired dishes. Think lots of tartares/ ceviches and tiraditos, as well as a sushi bar, and innovative traditional dishes w/ a twist. Nice cocktails. The nigiri’s were really good, as well as canned tartares, and the shrimp buns, escargot is a skip. Have indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good, but nothing really was outstanding. Mid meal. Service was not great though. Slow even though there was few people in the restaurant.
I wanted to love this place… I was excited for the entire month before I went after having read all the glowing reviews and this restaurant truly had everything, everything except the flavor I was hoping for. The place is beautiful and the outside seating has a stunning view. The service was fantastic and the waiters were wonderful. The food was beautiful but the delicious factor was just not there. I had a passion fruit coconut mocktail x 2 that was marvelous so started off strong! For food I started with the stuffed dates and was very hopeful but highly disappointed. This is the first time I had bacon wrapped stuffed dates that I didn’t love. The flavors just didn’t work in this one. Next I tried the French onion soup which is always a favorite for me. Sadly not this time. There was a slice of bread, covered and cheese that had been melted with a kitchen torch, and for some reason, I can always taste the butane/chemicals when they do that, and it was awful. The soup itself was incredibly salty and not flavorful. Next, I had the ravioli, which looked like it would be amazing but sadly again was not. The tomato sauce was lacking in flavor and depth, and the filling of the ravioli was just OK. For dessert I asked the waiter for his recommendation and he recommended the apple pie so I ordered it in hopes that at least we could finish off with a good dish. The pie came in a very unique way. It looked like an apple on top of some crumbs, but sadly, the apple filling was not tasty. It was very plain. The only part that was good were the crumbles. Even the vanilla ice cream lacked flavor. After a 20% tip because the waiters did a fantastic job I spent $68 and was incredibly disappointed in my meal.
Great ambiance and atmosphere. Food was very good, especially the sushi dishes, the wagu beef appetizer and the escargot appetizer. Drinks were also good. However, the service was horrendous. We came in on the elevator with a group who ate and left before we got our meal. We had to ask several times for bread and for our table to be wiped which was deliver to other tables around us seamlessly. We also had to ask for a missing dish halfway through the meal and were met with a haughty and dismissive attitude before the waiter stalked off in a puff.
The restaurant makes an impressive first impression with a hidden-door entrance, modern décor, and outdoor seating that offers stunning views of the Panama City skyline. Unfortunately, the experience fell apart once we sat down. The waitstaff initially seemed disengaged, and the food was deeply disappointing. The tuna steak was overcooked, dry, and largely flavorless. The lobster risotto was worse—completely bland, with lobster pieces so tough they were difficult to chew. It was evident the seafood was not fresh, but frozen. To their credit, the staff and manager were apologetic. One entrée was removed from the bill, and we were offered a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated. Still, based on previous reviews, we expected one of the city’s hottest dining spots. Instead, it felt like a restaurant that has lost its culinary direction. After dining out daily for a week in Panama City, this was by far our worst meal.
Ordered the beef wellington medium rare. Came out cold and rare. My popover was deflated and embarassing. Im surprised they let these dishes leave the kitchen, no QA. Didnt enjoy the food at all. Cool looking restaurant. Sushi was fine. Staff was very nice and attentive.
Food was below my expectations as a world traveler, sushi roll is average, the pork belly and short ribs are good. Service was terrible, the waiter was mean and rude. Our food was ready but they didn’t give to us after 30 mins, when we asked where our food is, no apologies no explanation, and nobody came to ask us how the food was and no water refill. We had to yell for service. We spent $220 and we got minimal services
Worst waiter I have ever had in my life. He literally did not care about our experience. Sushi came without soy sauce, the drink I ordered never came, the menu we requested was never brought to the table. He dropped off the food and never came back. When we asked him where he went (when it was time to pay the bill) his response was the restaurant was busy. Really?? If I was the owners I would get rid of him, he’s costing them money instead of making them money. A beautiful restaurant, great food, careless service.
