Avis sur Avila's Mexican Restaurant El Paso
Went here for our first time and we were very impressed. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Our waiter Luis, was an great host and kept our drinks full and made sure everything was ok. Will definitely come here again!
The chicken mole has been my all-time favorite dish from this restaurant. The sopapillas are also another favorite of mine that they offer. Overall, I recommend it!
Food was delicious as always. I ate chic dish, took carry out- green chile caso steak for my son in Las Cruces. Staff so attentive, ordered extra salsa & sopapillas for home. We miss Bill with Eastside resturant, so glad Westside here. We will be back...
Awesome food, it makes you say WOW! Great taste, great atmosphere, great service, we had a great time there, Andy Avila is a great host and so was his brother Billy. I highly recommend it, we will be back, it's worth the drive from the lower valley close to Socorro, just to taste some great Mexican food, really Mexican food. Love Avila's. !!!!
It had been years since I was at this fine restaurant. It was great talking to Andy once again. I am truly graced knowing him. Food was excellent. They did not miss a beat. Service was/is fantastic. Food lived up to my memories. I will truly make the effort to return.
First time eating here. Food was pretty good. Tom handled our Togo order and was very professional. I observed the tables/families and they are following the CDC guidance for distancing. We’ll definitely return.
We were on the west side and we were craving Mexican food. We would always go to Avila's when it was on the east side. So we decided to go. It was not to full and were seated immediately. Angelina was our waiter and she was so polite, delightful and fast. She kept our drinks coming. Chips and salsa was delicious. I ALWAYS order the mole enchiladas with chicken and rice and beans. It did not disappoint. Highly recommend. Everyone else enjoyed their meals We shouldn't have had the sopapillas but couldn't pass them up. Highly recommend!!
Very good enchiladas. I love the salsa and chips
Just always a great dining experience and the staff always strives to be fast and efficient. Haven't had a bad meal yet. They forgot to give me a child's plate on Tuesday so I called. The gentleman had the meal made and drove it to my house for free. That is serious customer care. Not only a long time family restaurant, but one that cares about people. Bravo! Well done!
When I first entered, I was a little surprised and disappointed as the ambiance was very lacking, but we stayed. Immediately, the service was great, which made me a little happier. Then, when the food came out, I was floored. Completely surprised as the food was some of the best I've had in El Paso. I had the Al Pastor Taco's. And they were amazing. All three of us were pleasantly surprised. I will be back for sure.
The food was delicious and of good sized portions. The chicken fajitas were tasty! The service was excellent. Great experience!
Haven’t been here in awhile because we live off Alabama and Scenic Dr but SORRY that I haven’t!! Atmosphere with music to fit the style of food was delightful while we waited for our food. Waiter (Luis) was superb, very helpful and always at our table and serving us. The food was great and delicious! Will come back soon and bring friends! David
My favorite local restaurant for Mexican food. The combination plates cannot be beat. Prices are fantastic and fresh chips and salsa when you sit down
Avilas has always been a place close to my heart. I’ve been going here since I could walk and now that my grandparents are gone, I go every time I miss them. The food has never lost its quality. The food is to die for and the service is always so welcoming. I walked in 12 minutes prior to them closing and with open arms they told us to sit.. amazing people.
The food is constantly amazing and the wait staff are kind and attentive. Not once did me or my dining partner need to hunt someone down for pa and salsa was nice and spicy without being unbearable, the chicken mole plate and the taco plates were portioned perfectly and were so delicious we considered ordering a second plate each. Sopapillas are delicious as well. Fair price for the food and attention we got.
Came here with my wife, kids, and inlaws. The food was very delicious! Everything came out pretty fast and hot. Didn't have to ask for refills the server Luis very good and he was on top of everything! This was my first time eating here but not my last time!!
Wife & I treated my parents to dinner here and enjoyed the food which tasted great. However, the service we received by all, had my rents talking about their experience for days. Thanks for making our elders feel welcomed and honored!!
It's an amazing experience each time I eat here with my family. The food is so great and the staff are some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered. They are so kind and patient and that really goes a long way. Nobody ever feels rushed to leave after we're finished eating, which is appreciated lol. It's a true 5- star, 10/10 experience at Avilas. Today was only our second time going and I took my mother for the first time today and we all haf a really really great time. Thank you. Btw the margaritas are top tier 👌🏼
We ordered for a reception following my mother’s funeral service. The food was great. The beans and rice were what we had as kids. The tacos and enchiladas did not disappoint. My very favorite was the chili rellenos. My family all 25 of us sends a great review.
My daughter and I were very pleased with Avila's restaurant. They employees were very friendly and helpful. We live in the northeast, but we didn't mind the drive, for it was our first time eating there, so we will visit and recommend Avila's restaurant to others, and the food was delicious. God Bless all the employees and owners of Avila's Restaurant. 🙏❤️🙂
I had a great lunch. I had Chile con queso chicken plate with rice and beans and corn tortillas. It was delicious and worth the drive to the westside in El Paso. My waitress name is Norma. She was very diligent and proficient in her skills to accommodate her clientele. She was able to accommodate our son and our daughter in law in choosing their entrees by making adjustments to what they wanted to eat. And my grandchildren loved their entrees too. Avila's food is genuinely authentic and delicious. I recommend Avila's to everybody that wants to experience good Mexican food made from scratch, and their their salsas and sopapillas are exquisitely delicious
Went with my son yesterday evening the mole was great staff friendly and attentive highly recommend
This is one of our favorite places to go from Mexican food. We miss Annette, God bless her, but her son Roldon was taught well and runs the restaurant wonderfully. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
This place is old-school and everything that’s good about El Paso. Family run and still serving perfection on a plate. Do not miss the nachos, the definition of simplicity done perfectly.
The dine-in service was exceptional. The food came out in good order and was delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The wait staff was superb. We arrived an hour before closing on a Sunday and were immediately seated. Orders were taken quickly. It was a wonderful afternoon. Background music would have been a nice addition.
Amazing chile con queso. Servers are also very attentive and they got new salsa immediately!
Amazing service as always. From the second I walked in I was greated with a smile And amazing service. Food quality is amazing good size plates that are so good you could lick the plate. Highly recommend when on the weatside of El Paso
Sopapillas are excellent! Made right and fresh. Queso absolutely highly recommended. Beans and entrees were quite good. Tortillas and chips made from scratch. There was a brief outburst of some kind from an employee or customer while there - possibly a special needs person - and the dining area was fairly empty for an early dinner on a Saturday. Service is a bit formal/ old school and attentive. Place feels like a blend between historical and a cafeteria. Some color, live or local music, get the fountain running, display old el paso history, art, new or painted ceiling tiles or other warmth to fill and define the large dining spaces might be a nice addition to the decor and atmosphere. My table mates liked the red salsa but I was not a fan - was not sure if that was made from scratch and fresh or not so we ordered the queso instead.
We’ve been coming here for years, but lately, we’ve come a lot more. My wife has several food allergies but they’re always accommodating. Farooq (sp?) has helped us out many times and he is spectacular. Attentive and always pleasant and willing to rush to help. 10 stars
Everytime, i visit Avila's Mexican Restaurant, I order my favorite plate: 🌶 #11. Chile con queso 🧀 steak, rice, 🫘 beans. The smothered steak is juicey and queso has chunks of green chile 😋 It is absolutely 💯 delicious. 🌟 Mario ☝️ is always our server in the evenings🌜 He very nice knowledgeable ✨️ He tops our meal with the famous cinnamon and sugar sopaipillas. Free99! 😋 It's the best!👌 Each time- supplying a moist towellette for our hands. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've been coming to Avila's for over 25 years, and it’s truly a staple in my life. It all started when I was a kid, coming here with my parents, and now I get to share the same tradition with my own son. The food is absolutely delicious every dish is packed with authentic flavors that you just can’t find at chain restaurants. Beyond the amazing food, the staff is always so incredibly friendly, making every visit feel like coming home. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, you’re always treated like family. If you’re looking for real, authentic Mexican food, look no further! Skip the chains and come support this long-standing, local gem you won’t be disappointed!
Happy Valentines Day! This was our first visit here. We were greeted and seated just as soon as we walked in the door. We arrived at 6:45 pm. We grabbed a booth, and within 20 seconds, we had chips and salsa placed on our table. The table and the booth were clean. Within 2 minutes, the waitress headed over and took our order. In 3 minutes our drinks were brought to us. She asked us if we needed anything else, and we ordered the Chile Con Queso. In the next 6 minutes that passed, we had our queso on our table ready to eat. From the moment we ordered our food at 6:48pm, our dinner got to us at 7:10pm, which consisted of 2 orders of Fajitas fiesta combo plate. Everything was hot and tasted great. The staff were friendly and prompt. Our first impression is to give a 👍👍x2. We will definitely go again.
This was my first time visiting this place. It's amazing! The food is good, everyone was kind. Then, the waitress told me that some sopalpillas were included with my dish, and I didn't understand because sopalpillas for me were some fried corn tortillas scrambled with eggs, however, they gave me two pieces of sweet bread with some cinnamon and sugar on it that tasted delicious. It was the perfect dessert, a loved it.
The food was delicious and the service was great! As an appetizer, we had the chile con queso, and for our entrees, we had their rolled beef tacos, juevos rancheros, and for dessert, we had their famous sopapillas! It great to know that this restaurant is literally minutes away from our new home! We most definitely will be returning, and very soon. Highly recommended!
I hadn't been to El Paso in over a decade, so I asked a friend of mine that grew up here what was a good place to get some Mexican food, and he recommended this place. I didn't care much for the fried avocados, as the crust on them lacked any seasoning or anything. Everything else was great! Excellent enchiladas con mole and soapapillas. The salsa that comes with the chips is nice and hot, and the service was great! Will definitely come back next time I'm in El Paso.
Hands down Love this place. The food was great. The host in the grey shirt was very polite and welcoming. Our waitress hands down the best. She the sweetest lady ever. My son's absolutely loveed her. The food was very home made taste. Little on the pricey side but worth it to us. Highly recommended.
Do not understand it. We came in we where seated, others came in and were seated and got food before they even gave us our tea. We have been coming here for more then 15 years <back with the rio trio> and never had this happen. Wife had gorditas and I had mocha that looked like a baby throw it up.. Sorry but coming from the far northeast I will have to think about returning
Enjoyed a nice lunch with a friend who is a frequent customer of Avila's. Our server, Norma, was very personable and took good care of us. Food was good.
Authentic Mexican food. The gorditas de picadillo and green cheese enchiladas were tasty. The rice and beans tasted homemade. Our server was lovely and efficient! Drink and salsa refills arrived right when we were about to request them! The decor is quite outdated (carpet flooring) otherwise I would have scored "atmosphere" a little higher.
I and some friends came for lunch & the chips & salsa was brought out right away. The food was great & so was the service, our waiter was very attentive to our table. but all our waters had a bleachy taste.
We had the mole and the steak tampiquena. The shredded chicken mole was the best I’ve had in El Paso. Just the right balance of sweet and spicy. Really delicious. The steak tampiquena was ok. The refried beans were also delicious. Service was top notch!
It's very clean. The caldo de res wasn't great the restaurant itself has has an odor of old building
The service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious. However, be aware that it might trigger indigestion if you're prone to it.
The food it's traditional texmex food, sopaipillas we're fresh love the menu panflet in the menu everything with a number includes sopaipillas and tortillas.
The place looks like a genuine southwest/mexican style restaurant from the outside and the inside. They serve the normal plates that most Mexican restaurants would serve, but the way to properly start a dinner here would be with some chips and salsa.(I highly recommend that) as far as the food goes, I can't really complain. Most of the items revolve around beef, Chicken or cheese which are all good choices. The service is courteous and warm and the drinks ice cold. Nothing really stands out but most menu items are great. I personally would try a couple if you have a big appetite you might want to do the same. Prices are higher than normal fast food but that is normal now almost anywhere.
I went to Avila's for lunch with my mom, daughter, and granddaughter on March 29th when we were visiting my mom in El Paso. This was my first time eating there. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was really good; our server was very attentive and she made sure we had what we needed. The sopaillas after our lunch were really good as well. We all had a good experience eating at Avila's and I hope to come back the next time I'm visiting in El Paso.
First thing as soon as we walked in a waiter saw us go in and he stated "we are closed". The time to closing was about 2 hours away. Service was mediocre, the waitress had a big party on the other side of the room. I saw one man leave and I don't think he got a drink. Food was better the last time we visited. Salsa was too salty.
I have to say, first and last time I go there its the worst "mexican food" I've ever had. Mom had a caldo De res, it was more of a vegetable soup. My enchiladas were not so good.
The servers were friendly and the restaurant, including the bathrooms, was clean and well kept. Overall the atmosphere was nice. The food was good but not great. The beans had a canned flavor as did the salsa. I'm not saying they were canned/bottled but the flavor reminded me of that taste. I got the combo #3 plate which had a Chile Relleno, a Taco, an Enchilada, Green Chile with beef, and a Tamal. Along with rice and beans, of course. All were good but not what I would consider exceptionally good.
We went for the lent lunch special. My daughter ordered the red enchiladas and it came with rice, beans and lettuce/w tomatoes. I ordered the enchiladas with mole , but was told they did not include lettuce and tomatoes!! Really? (Same dish!) Also mexican restaurants usually include a cup of soup and ice tea with the lunch special! Not here! For $9.99 at least some lettuce would have been nice!
It was ok, the tortilla soup I got was pretty bland which I guess is correct it's just chicken broth no tortillas in it just soggy chips so that wasn't enjoyable. We showed up when they opened and they do have breakfast but no breakfast menu for you to see. I also didn't know they had breakfast at all until I overheard them tell another table that asked. It was ok nothing majorly crazy about it just basic Mexican food. The kinda place I wouldn't go out my way to go back to, but if someone liked it I'd be ok with eating there again.
I looked on your web site to place an order for pick up. Order a caldo de res off of your online website. Price on web $5.70 when I showed up to pick up the price was $10.60. I was surprised but still paid. I get to my office and realized I had no utensils, salt, salsa and the tortillas were burnt and hard, couldn't eat them. I would've appreciated if someone asked if I wanted salsa I would have paid for it. I called to speak to a manager and some gentleman came on the phone didn't want to give me his name after asking him three time for it finally said his name was Ivan. I explained my situation and all he said was sorry. Very bad customer service. I don't think I will be going to your establishment again
First time trying Avila. Services was excellent as was the atmosphere. We tried the jalapeño dip which was very good. We both ordered combination plates. Chile relleno was pretty good as was the beef taco, and beans. The cheese enchiladas with red chile was flavorless and the rice was just not good at all. They serve margaritas made with wine and I can only say ugh, why!? Get your liquor license and serve real drinks. The men’s bathroom also reeked of sewer gas. All in all in was just okay but with so many better choices we won’t go back.
I really loved how they gave us our delicious chips and salsa and drinks as soon as we sat down. But I did not like how they gave us our check before we were even halfway done with our meal. As you can tell in the picture, I have the receipt on the table next to our food that is not even halfway done. My husband always loves ordering sopapillas at Mexican restaurants because they’re on one of his favorite desserts. I was so offended by the early check that I did not order dessert. There’s a few other things I can say especially about the picture of the pitcher of soda right behind our seat. I don’t think that’s very sanitary especially if someone has long hair. I will end with a positive note, for the price the food was good.
Ground beef tacos and lemonade were good as were the sopaipillas. Beans tasted like they came from the can with very little flavor. Rice was overdone and really dry. Family member said chicken fajitas were fair. Service/server was decent, rest of the staff was not that friendly. Probably won't be going back unless it's like the only restaurant open and I'm starving.
I realize they just reopened but we were instantly seated upon arrival, it took 15 minutes for a server to come over to us and people seated after us were served before us. When we were served my wife informed the server that she has celiac disease and her food can not contain any gluten or any cross contamination. What said right away there was cross contamination was our tortillas my flour and her corn were in the same warmer intermixed. My wife’s food had gluten cross contamination marking her insides sick. The food did taste amazing but the service sucked. It was the worst service I have had in years. We may give Avila’s another chance but that is just because of the way some of my coworkers raved about the place, but it won’t be for quite some time till hopefully the wait staff is better trained.
Well I've been wanting to try it for some time, it was like a cheeper version of Leo's! The place is nice want busy, so I ordered an appetizer( Chile con queso) took bout 8 minutes brought 4 plates and the queso, we had chips with salsa but the chips were finished. The server saw that and said she will bring more. Unfortunately she came back with our order as well. Bad timing on servers part, queso got cold and then the food wasn't that tasteful, we should have just gone somewhere else. Wasted 100 dls for cold flavorless food from a can!
Atmosphere was great, love the paintings and tile work. Ordered the chiles con queso as an appetizer and they brought it to us room temperature. Then I ordered a fajita plate which came with a single slice of onion and a single slice of bell pepper as the "veggies". Guacamole came browned already so it for sure wasn't fresh. Really disappointed with the quality of food after how much I had read about it online. Not worth the drive and certainly not worth the price.
I have been going to this restaurant ever since I was a little child, moved away and in town visiting family and today we went around 615. Service was severely poor, coworkers were arguing with each other and this older lady ( NORMA) came and took out ticket and mumbled pinchis whatever as she looked at the tip. Hence we had a table of 9 so the tip was not cheap. Service and people are not what it used to be although the food was good the service sacked and its a shame to see what's come of it.
Sopapillas were hard. Service was not with a smile. And didn't get the requested changes like tea with no ice
The food is good, however they close from 2pm-4pm. We arrived about 1:15 to have lunch and felt like they were rushing us to get out along with other guests. Our waiter was good but cashier’s facial gestures said it all. We tried to order “to go” plate, they didn’t take our order, cashier said the kitchen was closed and would open up again at 4:30pm. It’s just odd and a bit ridiculous that they shut down for 2 hours (2-4) and start rushing people that arrive before 2 pm.
Dine many times before great service great staff and good food except this pass week went looked forward to eat enchiladas and was dissapointed. The sauce did not taste authentic it tasted like can.
The place was alright at most. And they had tons of staff walking around but hardly any actually working or helping out from what we seen. It was hot inside with barely any air flow. Staff didn't know how to seat people and it was always a response of let me ask my manager. The coordination between the hostess and servers was terrible. Food was decent in a way and table settings needed upgrading but you get what you pay for so at least be open-minded to giving them a try and maybe your experience will be better then ours
Hadn’t been there in years. Waiter: male, older man was not friendly. Food was mediocre. When asking for appetizer, he gave us reasons preparation time, rather than put in order. Sopapillas were cold. When telling male cashier of our experience, didn’t apologize or make a concession. Poor customer service. Will not return.
It was so disappointing. I used to love that place. The server wasn’t friendly and she ignored a few of our requests. The tostadas tasted old and refried, and my tacos were falling apart. The water glass that my son in law used smelled like an old damp cloth filled with chlorine. And I made the mistake of going to the restroom. There was a terrible pungent odor as I walked in. It was unbearable. Worst than some of the gas station restrooms you go into when traveling. When I mentioned it to a lady that seemed to be in charge, she dismissively said, “Oh yeah, we need to do something about the sewer.” Gross!! No apologies. I’ll bet there’s even a health code violation there.
Food was not even close to good !!!! How can they be one of the best Mexican restaurants when I wasn’t even satisfied with salsa for the appetizer. Hamburger was black tasted burnt off the top. Cheese and chorizo fries sounds good until u see a plate with only 7 fries. NEVER AGAIN. GO TO LEO’S is what I recommend.
We went there recently and the experience was not a good one. For one they weren’t following CDC guidelines! It was extremely crowded, the tables were really close together. My sister and daughter left because of that! The food was not good, the service was even worse. The waitress was distracted and it took awhile to get our food. The owner wasn’t wearing his mask correctly and was coughing while talking to people
Customer Service is horrible at 6232 N.Mesa from cashier to Manager. Manager would not even provide his name over the phone when requested. I had an issue over the order completed online and specific additional charges that needed refunded. I called 1st time and was passed around to three people then hung up on me. 2nd call was passed to cashier and was refunded less than half owed. Showed up for curbside pickup order and was promised by cashier that it would be fixed asap thru online app. As i saw no additional corrected refund , I called a third time and again was passed around as no one wanted to listen, both my Spanish and English are good , this is unacceptable as we are trying to help our local restaurants. I will no longer order curbside nor catering at Avilas as I used to order a lot before COVID-19 hit. Very saddened customer of 15+ years. UPDATE: it has been 2 weeks and the corrections have not been completed, sad to say 3 bean&cheese burritos plus flauta plate for <$30.00 was very expensive. No one called to update , fix , nada.
I got a notification my order was ready so I went in, told the lady who then just stood there continuing doing whatever she was doing. About 5 minutes later she disappeared where I waited about 15 minutes before she reappeared with it. Not friendly. Beans were dry & tasted funky. Chips were stale. The fajitas were so bland and the portion was for a tiny child.. definitely skimpy. They also did not give tortillas with the fajitas... like, that's the whole point of ordering fajitas.. I thought?! Overall it was BAD; most definitely won't ever return or recommend!
I use to go to Avilas since I was little and I use to think the food was delicious. Well after 25+years of not going I decided to go there with my family. Service was good but the food was definitely not what I remembered. The food was very bland and didn't have flavor. My plate was also $16! The only thing that was good on my plate was the chile relleno. I make way better mexican food than this place. Won't be going there again.
Been to Avila several times in the past year today was my first time back in about 5 months and quite frankly disappointed in the service. We where the second or third customers we ordered one coffee and my children and I water since we don’t drink sugar drinks. That immediately set a tone placed out orders and after 25 minutes or so the side we were sitting at was getting filled but people started to receive their orders and friendly service. Our server never came back or passed by my table didn’t offer refills or at least update on food order. After 3 tables that showed after us received their meal we choose to leave. Stopped at the counter to pay for the coffee and explained to 3 people at register young man, female and gentlemen in an orange shirt but all seemed to not care. They couldn’t even find my order I gave them 3 dollars for coffee and walked away no apology no update they sincerely didn’t care. As I drove off my teenage son told me that a few month back he joined his girlfriends family for lunch and felt a sense of rejection or exclusion compared to other customers there. I am extremely disappointed we make best efforts to spend money on local business. We choose to eat at Avila’s this morning and ended up at a drive thru which I guess had better service thank you for ruining my morning!
Our Saturday first visit wasn't quit what I expected given how much I hear Avila's is supposed to be a great restaurant. As soon as we were sat down there was some confusion who was our server. I ordered a side order of sour cream which was not brought out with the order. I asked the server for more napkins and she forgot I asked. I needed to have my drink refilled and the server kept walking around with no direction, and in turn was arguing with the kitchen staff about other people's orders in front of the customers, very unprofessional. The avocado was a little old and the lettuce and meat were not fresh. I guess that'll be the last time we eat here.
About two years ago, I swore I would never come back. I tried to please my mom and ended coming here. The food was horrendous, we ordered enchiladas and tasted like can xhile ans their rice was a ball of mush. The mole was watery and tasted like I was eating 10 teaspoons of sugar. The service was bad and I felt like we were unwanted. I even had to call one of the servers and complained about the service. The really need to clean this place. Shut it down for renovation and find a good chef
Well I guess I went in after a few bad experiences just because I was looking for good Mexican food!! Well Avilas strikes again! For some reason the Waiter that we get every time is always not the friendliest around! Please Avilas higher friendly staff so the experience can be worth it.
I had to change my rating from a 5 star to 1 star since no star wasn't an option. I live in the far east side and this is the second time i order take out and they forget my salsa that I paid for and sopapillas too. I call and they keep me on hold or hang up. I always give the person taking my order a generous tip well no more i will not be ordering from Avila's anymore. very bad service you all lost good customers...
The queso got hard 2 minutes after they brought it out. The rice was dry and had a burnt taste. The chicken fajitas had so much salt on it and the guacamole served on the plate was black. The tamale was only masa with a little speck of meet. The carpet was super dirty as if they didn't vacuum it for over a month. Will not be a return customer to this dirty, and horrible food
Frequently Have eaten here due to the convenience of it being located next to my work. First experience was not delightful due to staff being rude I did make it a point to call and complain about about the gentleman considered ordering for a second time because the food was good. Second time ordering to go not ony do I get over charged for a meal and handed a meal with no utensils called to find out the exact amount of my order gentleman argued with me about the charge laughing that I was disputing a 2$ charge its not the amount its the principal that they lied and still have audacity to act like I'm being petty at this point there food could be the best in town but the untrustworthy shady service they provided me I still won't go back here. Recommendation go to Don Cuco right down the street.
My family and I went to the restaurant on Saturday evening, February 1st. We hadn’t been there for some time, so we were really looking forward to what we remember. Well, major disappointment!! The food was cold, our order came out wrong, the service was slow and the server didn’t seem to care. When we complained, the server took the plate to the kitchen. When he returned, it looked as if they stuck it in the warmer and added more sauce. What? Not acceptable!!!! Will we go back? We’ll think about it.
Came to the restaurant for the first time with the family. Walking in the hostess and the waiter looked like they were in a bad mood. We greeted him politely and never said anything back. We ordered our food and our food was cold. Wife got up to get some napkins cause we didn't get no napkins and when he came back. He told my wife that he saw that we were stealing the napkins by the table where they have them. We didn't say anything. Not a good place. For us never again. Rude employees
First and last time I come here. My family an I went about a week ago and it was a bad experience from the staff. It was 5 adults and one baby in a stroller. We all walk in and the hostess takes us to a round table which was obviously too small for us. We ask her if could get a bigger table and point to a bigger table and she says, “uuh let me ask” and walks off, mind you, the restaurant was not busy at all, there were probably 5 tables occupied. The manager comes out from the back and as he’s walking towards us, points at the small table we were offered, as in, yall can sit at that table. The server who ended up taking our table, notices what’s going on and how confused and uncomfortable we are, and tells us to follow her and sat us at the table we were pointing at. The hostess had no customer service whatsoever neither did the manager. Food was decent but not enough to go back and feel unwelcomed.
Today March 3 2024 we dined in and as we walk in the hostess front desk girl with glasses and blonde hair was not friendly at all, the waiter we had was not attentive and seemed to not care. My boyfriend ordered Chile con queso steak, waiter didn't even ask him how he wanted it cooked. The man in red shirt cleaning tables, was sweeping and sweepd in our area without saying excuse me, and was very rude and grabbing things off our table when we were still dining, it was a very horrible experience.. Where's Luis when you need him..
This place was recommended by my husband’s co-worker so we kinda have high expectations, but when we get there, the floor was dirty, the smell is bad. So I was like, okay maybe the food was great, but i was so disappointed!!! Food sucks! No taste, meat smells bad, I think that beef was old. I ordered Enchiladas, my husband ordered fajitas, all were not good at all! I would definitely NOT recommend this place! I don’t want your money to go to waste!!
I have given this restaurant three tries and they have failed each time. One time I ordered called though to go when I did receive it it was cold and half filled. The other two times I ate in the restaurant. The first time I ordered chicken fajitas. The portion of chicken was extremely small, enough for one corn tortilla... The second time I had chicken tostadas. The tostadas were cold, chicken cold, way too much lettuce (seriously should have ordered a salad) and the waiter was the worst we have ever had. He had an aggravated look the entire time he served us. He really needs to find work elsewhere. At this point, we won't be back.
Let me start by saying that I've been an Avila's customer since the 80's, when I was a child and my parents were middle aged. Well now I'm middle aged and my. parents are elderly. It's been amazing to have a "go to" restaurant my family has enjoyed for so long. It's been truly unique to see some of the same waitstaff that have worked at the restaurant still there decades later. My family and I have some really great memories of get togethers at Avila's. The food is usually excellent and the service has been fine. Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this review because of poor experiences the last few times we've been there. The last time we went to Avila's, we placed a to go order. The front of house person we were working with gave us the wrong order. An honest mistake that could happen to anyone right? The person we were working with, however, was dismissive, and was clearly not listening to me. I had to drive back to the restaurant to have the issue corrected which was inconvenient. The manager was very nice and apologetic and said he would credit us back the purchase due to the error. Unfortunately, he never actually did. On the last occasion, I placed a to go order for my family for takeout. I was shocked by how rude the person I placed the order with was over the phone. He just seemed to not care at all. When I arrived at the restaurant to pickup the order when I was told it was going to be ready, I was told by a hostess in dismissive and rude tone to "please go sit down" without even being told what the status of my order was. The other gentleman working at the front told me they were still working on the order after we sat down in the lobby. This gentleman was not friendly and appeared to be irritated to be helping us. When the order was ready and I paid for it to the tune of $82, this individual didn't even say thank you or make any attempt at being polite in any way. When we got home (5 minutes away) and opened the food we had to wait for because they were "still working on it," was stone cold like it had been sitting for 15 minutes. My advice to Avila's as a long time customer - just be polite, it's not difficult. Treat your customers with respect and gratitude rather than contempt.
Worst experience ever! Regret taking my daughter & family to this place to celebrate her highschool graduation. Host and wait staff were rude since we arrived, had attitude with everything going on at establishment. Food took forever and was not great, a lot of our plates were cold, rice tasted dry didnt even get fresh made rice or enough serving of it. Gorditas were ok, cal do de res, COLD! Now I know why we were getn the feeling of being rushed cuz dey close @ 2pm but arrived arnd noon. Still no excuse for such behavior and lack of not making all of our orders freshly made to our liking like it should be coming from such a restaurant that's been known for their authentic mexicsn food. Pfft...not anymore, don't know what happened to this place but nvr evr stepping foot in diz establishment AGAIN! Extreme disappointment & regret coming here. Will have to make It up to my daughter & take her to a way better restaurant for great tasting food, drinks, kind wait staff & highly reviews on the place.
I went one weekend for the caldo do res. The caldo had two pieces of meat . Small cubes . The tacos I ordered were cold and had a thin line of meat
This place used to be good. My waitress was nice but the #11 smothered ribeye I ordered tasted rancid on the third bite. I cancelled that plate I hope I don’t get sick. They need tohave a health inspection
These are the “build your own nachos”. Paid extra for chorizo and got this. Called the restaurant about it and a very rude man answered claiming that the nachos were not supposed to include beans or beef like the menu states. Also did not try to apologize or make it better for the lack of quality. Would not recommend to any paying customer, not worth the money or the disappointment.
