This lovely restaurant has historic photographs and delicious Mexican and American food! Monday night tacos is the best time in the neighborhood! Salsa is always 5 Star!

Had the ground beef gorditas this go-around , they were huge! Everything was super fresh and tasted great.. The salsa was on point and we went early enough for zero waiting and good service.

Irving (manager) and Veronica (server) were outstanding . We had large group and they accommodated us so efficiently and food for 9 came out at sametime HOT....WOW..that was quite impressive and organized. Keep up the great work Irving as the new Manager...

It was my first time going to this restaurant, trying out new places in the city and i was not disappointed! Food was great, service even better! I was greeted by the Manager on shift Irving, he was attentive and great energy that he brings to the restaurant! Will be coming back soon!

A great place to enjoy a delicious meal made fresh when you order it. Friendly wait staff, plenty of parking and a bar next door. What else could you ask for?

This was an awesome experience, 👏 the food is authentic Mexican cuisine made from scratch. The flavors of all the different entries we had were all different and delicious 😋🤤. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, our next trip will be with our pastor's they will love it. The service was very good 👍😊 and friendly. It was worth the price and that's why we tipped our waitress handsomely . We are from Las Cruces NM and it is well worth the trip.

I do like coming here now and then. The food and service are always great. There is one thing that I'm not too thrilled about though. When they give you the beans in a small cup they melt the cheese on top so by the time you get it it's a little hard. Leaving you with one big lump of cheese. The beans are good.

Have eaten here many times always a good choice. Chose the Number Dos with their cream sauce excellent plate see pictures.

This is the first time I've been here. What a great experience. First of all, the gorditas were fantastic. Highly recommend. Second, the margaritas were gooood.. If you've never been, go. You won't be disappointed.

I haven’t been here in years, only had takeout tacos on a Monday during COVID 19, and they were so yummy. Came back today had chicken fajitas tortilla soup and shrimp cocktail. Everything was delicious. Still my favorite salsa!

The food was tasty and good sized portions to include the beverage. The wait staff was phenomenal as my wait staff was helpful with suggestions on the menu and very attentive to ensuring that I had everything needed while eating to include insuring that I never ran out of my beverage!! Fantastic mexican food spot. Been a staple for years. Tacos are spot on and super afforadable. Very welcoming ambiance. The bar is seperate from the restraunt but is in the same building. Grab some tacos then hit the patio bar for a solid margarita.

Had a large birthday party there last night and we started on the patio but it started raining. We were invited into the party room and our server Luis who was literally servicing 14 people helped us. He ran around for a good 3 hours helping us. Even joined in on our group photo. WTG LUIS! Everyone loved the food. Tacos de alambre are delish as always!!!

I met my sister for lunch and she chose the Riviera. I enjoyed a great meal and left absolutely stuffed. The food tastes fresh and the atmosphere was pleasant. There was plenty of parking and was easy to find. We will probably be back.

I require a gluten-free diet for health reasons. The hostess and servers had no idea how to answer my questions. I spoke directly to the kitchen staff. Thankfully, they were able to assist me. Good location and nice environment, though.

Riviera Cocina is a cozy and historic place that serves authentic Mexican food and drinks. I enjoyed taco plate, but it's a hit or miss depending on the time of day and who is cooking. the meat is at times not flavored and seems it has been sitting in warming tray for hours. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable even with inflation. I recommend this restaurant for a casual and tasty meal.

Affordable & fast service authentic mexican food. I love the creamy green sauce on the enchiladas 😋 the place does look like it needs a deep cleaning, but it seems like those placez always have the best food.

I usually go here once a week. Most of the time I take out. I now completely check my order because they usually leave out something. I know they are busy so I double check. Only one time they gave me someone else's order. When I do dine in the service has been great. They have downsized the amount of chips they give you to one sandwich bag for two meals so if you like alot of chips, order extra. Sometimes they close early if they aren't busy and sometimes they stay later if busy so I suggest not going around closing time.

Would give it 3.5 if I could. Been eating here for 20 years. Even worked here for about a year. This place is Usually great. It’s completely hit or miss now (2025). I would recommend the Combo 2 plate (new green) & their ‘Taco Monday’ has tons of good options. Needs Work: I’d say staff needs to be retrained, more professional, more hustle. The cocktails hardly come out right anymore. And the consistency of the food. Really spicy some days, others not so much. Rice and bean flavor inconsistent.

Out in the west Texas town of EL Paso, Riviera’s is fossilized into EL Paso’s food history pedigree. Chard fresh table salsa, cooked to order deliciousness arrives on a food cart ready to serve. My huevos rancheros were on the money! The red Chile ranchero sauce was fantastic. Textured potatoes with hatch New Mexico green Chile impressed the taste buds! This is a great historical food marker in EL Paso and would to definitely not pass by on!

Great atmosphere. The salsa that they give with the tostadas is delicious! I had the huevos rancheros and they didn't disappoint! The salsa that comes with it is very tasty. Our waitress, Mary, was very sweet and friendly. I highly recommend it here.

The burgers were delicious. I won't be ordering the nachos again.

Service is friendly, but it can definitely be slow. The food essentially makes up for it, though. Great salsa, margaritas and overall pricing. There's a reason it's been around so long.

I eat here often and it’s usually good, but some days are better than others. It’s traditional El Paso style Mexican food. Their house made red enchilada sauce is great as is their salsa. They also have a nice variety of daily alcoholic beverage specials. They seem to have a revolving door of young inexperienced servers, so don’t expect much in the way of service, but it’s reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. My wife and I often share the combo dos and it’s plenty of food for the two of us.

They have a new menu with some very interesting additions. I tried charro beans with chorizo and a side chili relleno which was delicious. I’ve eaten here more than 10 times and they do know how to cook Mexican. Service sometimes is spotty (slow) but not bad.

The establishment has been around for quite some time. Everything was great, with the exception of the chicken taco. The marinade was not right for me. Mango tea, was delicious. Recommend. Overall, a nice place to eat authentic Mexican food.

This place has been around for a while so I knew I had to try it. The hostess wasn’t too friendly but our waiter was so he made up for it. The tortilla soup was flavorful, but lacked chicken. The gorditas were very good although my mom thought they were on the spicy side, my five year old was able to eat them however. The Chile rellenos were also very delicious. My sister only had dessert, the churros with ice cream and she was very happy with it. My only complaint and it’s sad because it was the main reason I wanted to try this place: the margaritas. I had been told I needed to try them. So I ordered the Coronarita ($10). The margarita itself had absolutely no flavor. It tasted like a water slushee. Then I added the Corona hoping it would help but it ended up tasting like watered down beer. I was so disappointed. Maybe their other margarita offerings are better. I’ll give them a try some other time. They also have a small bar next door that stays open after the restaurant closes.

I've come to Riviera many times in my life and in my experience the service has always been absolutely terrible. The employees are never rude, but they will always forget to bring you something, forget to put in an order, or just take forever to come by and check on you. The food is good (I love their red salsa) but for what you have to deal with it's not worth the trouble. Monday is their taco night, so that's when I've always liked to come. They've been around for years, but the quality has steadily decreased. I'm not sure how much longer they'll be in business.

It was okay, the food did take a very, very long time to get out. I would say like 45/50 minutes, we almost forgot that we ordered food. Luckily they have a bar that held us over. I know the server was probably short handed that's why I left 3 stars instead of 1 (mercy). He was trying, the food like I said was okay, maybe my appetite got spoiled after the wait and the drinks. Maybe after the pandemic they will have more help resulting in faster service.

I really like this place and I come here to get food and drink at the bar specially, when I need a break from life for a bit but because I know some of the workers and they talk to me this one manager makes me feel uncomfortable she even followed me into the men’s restroom harassing me and I’m here tonight and my waiter is apparently getting reprimanded when all he’s doing is asking if I need anything else and is doing is his job and he’s getting in trouble it’s poor customer service on the mangers part and the owners I don’t appreciate feeling like I’m not allowed to be here when every time I come I pay just like anybody else you higher ups need to do better I’m planning a party and was gonna have it here but now I’m second guessing it again do better and get rid of the manger who harasses me every time I’m here enough is enough iv kept Quiet, long enough And just so we’re clear the employees that our servers and work the bar are amazing. It’s the higher-ups that are the issue.

Unfortunately, my first visit was not very impressive. The Margarita was very salty and did not come with a frozen or on the rocks option. The entree took longer than expected to be served. The meal was barely warm, parts of the rice were over cooked, and the Ribeye lacked flavor.

Food and staff are great! The dirty restroom smell slaps you in the face as soon as you walk in. I had to cover my face while picking up my to go order. The young lady that helped me was very polite and apologetic. I really felt bad complaining to her, but the owners desperately need to have a professional sanitation company to come and remedy the putrid smell. I will never be returning. This is really unacceptable.

Placed large online for a group of nurses. There was no option online for a side of chips and salsa. Called restaurant to ask about including salsa and chips . Host who answered the phone was impolite and of no help. Asked to speak to manager who said they cannot give us salsa or chips. If they are going to regulate every little thing then make it an option online for your customers. Just letting Future customers know that you won’t get anything from ordering online. Won’t be ordering again. Thanks for nothing!

As much as I hate to give a bad review our last three orders were wrong. Their food is fantastic and their service is not. Our last two to go orders were wrong (one that made right but driving back was a pain and the offered to remove the chips from the bill we didn’t receive. Then offered to give us free chips when they are already coming with our meal). our last dine in with a party of 8 was an absolute disaster. I try to be understanding as I was a server for 5 years. But 1/2 the dishes came out wrong, they tried fixing and two were still wrong, and we were charged for an app we didn’t receive. They said they’d remove it but they brought the bill back and it was higher. They said a gratuity had accidentally been added. At that point I just giggled. I hate we won’t return because it is my favorite food here. My advice is if you order to go check every single thing before leaving. And if you dine in know the food is great but it’ll be a journey 😂

Seems they cranked up the pico a lot. I had asked the waiter about what mild sauce to order for enchiladas. He described the sauces and I chose the mildest which he called the "new green". What I got was very hot, spicy...more so than the many previous times we were here. My husband who eats much hotter mexican foods than I took a bite and said it was too hot even for him. It was inedible. I told the waiter I could not eat it because it was too spicy and would like to substitute tacos for what I got. He said he'd have to ask the cook/manager who "speaks only Spanish". Came back 19 minutes later saying she was in the restroom. I asked again what he could do for me since I would like to pay for a meal I could actually eat. He said he could bring a little of their red sauce to see if I'd like it to scrape off the green and replace with the red, or maybe bring me some sour cream to put on top of the "new green". He brought the red in a little bowl. Still too hot. I ended up scraping off as much of the green as possible, and just ate the shrimp inside the enchiladas. They were small and tough...overcooked. I think they want different clientele. I know we won't be back. Sad, because they used to have very good food and staff.

Chips and salsa were very good. Food was pretty delicious too. But service was slow. We were sat 10 minutes before 2 other tables walked in, and they have already came and gone and we are still waiting here to be checked out. Its now been 20 minutes since the tables that came in after us have already left too. I had made eye contact with 3 servers and no one took our drink orders or anything. Disappointed with management and service. It was my first and most likely last ☹

First time at this restaurant. We went to restaurant part only. Very courteous and friendly staff. restaurant clean and nice soft lusic playing. There were only two other tables at the First impression of plate. great big portion and looked delicious. however. the gorditas were hard and chewey, the rice undercooked and cold. The Refried beans very good. I also liked the salsa. I would consider going back to try a different menu item

Ordered online for pickup, selected a mix of beef and chicken fajitas. Get home and it’s only beef, called and they said they only do that for an uncharge, even though the website allows you to select it. They decided on their own to select beef instead of calling their customer to ask their preference or offer them the mix for an extra charge.

I used to be a frequent customer here. Until today that is. I walked in and was waiting to be seated. 3 employees looked at me and just ignored me. I had to ask if they were open. Only then did they acknowledge me and said I could seat myself. I decided to just leave. The food is great but this experience made me not want to come back. Staff needs training on customer service.

I've been eating here for 25 years and it used to be great. The last few years however have seen a quick decline in customer service and dependable portions. Now the food comes out with lackluster service and you never know if the sides are going to be an actual side or a spoonfull of queso. If you want to complain, go ahead, it won't mean anything to the manager though. We live in a place where you can find great Mexican food almost anywhere so... better step.it baconup.if you want to keep customers. As for me. It's been a good 25 years but time to move on

I used to really love this place. The fact they had a vegan option on the menu was great for me since I eat strictly plant-based. I have noticed a significant decline in service and in quality of food. I have also noticed that any time there are young adults working, they run out things and they don’t do anything to satisfy the customer. Let me give an example: came in on a Sunday and ordered fajitas. Asked for flour tortillas and was told that they had run out. This was earlier in the day and in my opinion no excuse. Why can’t someone run to the store (which is less than 5 minutes away from the restaurant) and buy tortillas? Again, came in on a Saturday and asked for sweet tea. I was told they did not have any made. This also was earlier in the day which makes this twice that the people in the kitchen are just being lazy and refusing to make more. Cooks often do a sloppy job and serve undercooked food or do not know how to follow special directions. Which brings us to today. asked for sweet tea and was told they didn’t have any. I also asked for the Vegan meatless fajitas from the menu like I normally do and requested no cheese. I was served a plate which included cheese. My server took the plate and when she brought it back they had just scraped off the beans and replated the food. Upon inspection I saw that my fajitas had cheese on the underside of the tortillas which verified that the cooks did indeed just scrape and replate. I have given this restaurant many chances and can not justify coming back any longer. The quality and lack of consistency is too much, too often. I hope the manager reads this and implements changes asap as I don’t see this helping future business.

I ordered the 12 green chicken enchiladas that come with beans, rice, chips and salsa to be delivered. Doordash driver was very nice and delivered quickly but I paid $2 for a side of 1.5 oz of queso gringo, which the amount was not even listed on the site when I added it. Called the manager. Apparently an 8 oz cup is $5 but how would I have known what size I was getting for $2? My delivery came with 1.5 oz (single serving size) of salsa and a sandwich bag of chips. Previously you had a good size brown bag of chips and 4 oz of salsa. The enchiladas were dry, again. (I would ask for extra sauce on the side for several years until they recently charged me $6 for 3 oz without even telling me). I called to ask about the embarrassing size of the queso, chips, and salsa and the manager repeatedly blamed new owners and untrained staff for everything. Nothing else was said except, I'm sorry. Me, too! I doubt I order again after years of going there. My parents were friends with the original owners. I used to love that place. Very disappointing.

Brought my family to eat here for the first time and talked up the place, because I love the food. Our server (Genesis) was amazing but the manager Luis came out and yelled at her in front of everyone eating in the cantina section. He did it not once but twice and I for one thought that was horrible. From someone who is in leadership and believes in treating others the way I want to be treated….. shame on you Luis for how you treated Genesis. Learn to be kinder with your approach and your words and don’t forget that words can hurt others.

Perhaps an off day but this was not anything we had hoped for. Solpalpila tasted sour. French toast was not cooked through. The chile colorado burrito was good but had very small amount of meat. The food was less than warm. Our server was really nice and attentive. Unfortunately the food was not up to par on this occasion.

Two times in two weeks, get seated and then forgotten about. Young, unsupervised wait staff! Shame we’ve been going there for over 40 years.

I was in town to visit family recently. We had to wait over an hour for our food which was horrible. My tacos were so greasy. The beef in them was not fresh either. Extremely disappointed in the food & wait. It was not crowded at all. I also bought a jar of their salsa they serve at the table. I have always loved. It was good at the table but, what I came home to in was watered down & no where near as good. Don't buy their salsa or enchilada sauces because they water them down.

Really disappointed. This was a birthday surprise for me. I don't know what's happened to this place but the food wasn't great. The flautas were chewy and the meat filling was dry and stringy. The rest of the plate was OK. The salsa was good, but everything else had a weird aftertaste. Sad. This was my favorite Mexican restaurant a couple of years ago. The staff was attentive and polite.

They never answer the phone and when they do they place you on hold and forget about you! I also don't know why their food is always cold at least heat up the food a little.

I ordered and paid for food for a cinco de mayo party. I ordered on Saturday for food to be picked up on Monday. The food wasn’t ready. I was told they were short staffed. I asked to see the manager and she refused to see me. I ordered 3 dozen tacos and specified no rice and beans. They gave me the rice and beans anyway. The whole experience was a disaster. This management needs to get their act together. There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in El Paso with managers who are willing to listen to customer concerns. Choose wisely, my friends…

The combo dos. Add two table spoons of ground beef for $5.00, and then you’ll know why there is no one really in the Restuarant. The food price is ridiculous compared to the other 8 Mexican restaurants with in the 1/4 mile area. The teenage manager confirmed that 2 tablespoons of ground beef is $5.00 and will be added to the bill. Also, noted that the salsa is not soup and is limited. Won’t be going back there ever again. The food was mediocre at best.

I placed an order for pick up and was never given any of the fixings for a family 12 pack of tacos. I then called the restaurant to let them know that they never gave me the fixings and was told they could only give me lettuce and cheese cause i couldn’t prove i wasn’t given tomato.. Why would i lie about receiving tomato??? Makes absolutely no sense!! The girl i was talking to was super rude and stated there is nothing they can do for me and would not correct the issue as she’s not the one who packed the order. Manager then also stated the same thing.. This is the last time will ever get anything from this waste of a place. i would recommend you all do the same unless you want to be treated like your business isn’t appreciated..

Placed an order on door dash for pick up about 30 min before arriving to the store. When I arrived it was empty and they didn’t even noticed I placed an order. Started when I came.

Served cold breakfast burrito and expired, curdled creamer for coffee. Also had breakfast with eggs that were not cooked and hash browns were cold.

The Riv has always been one of the best restaurants that I have been going for years, however, this evening was a huge disappointment. Two of us were the only customers this evening so you figure we would get quick service…Wrong! We waited 30 minutes and asked the waitress why it was taking so long. She apologized and said she was going to the manager. We waited and decided to leave. The waitress pointed us out to the manager as we were paying for our teas. He asked if we would want our dinner to go….really? No apologies. He continued his conversation with a waiter. It was very obvious that the waitress was embarrassed as she kept apologizing.

So when we look at the menu everything is pretty pricey. I had hoped it would be worth it but it was a huge disappointment. The meat I got in my dish tasted old and had so much fat, it felt like I was eating solidified oil. The sides were also bland. If that wasn’t enough they charge $5 for their flavored teas and I asked for a refill but thought to ask if they do free refills which they don’t. The waiter failed to inform me of this so had I not asked I would’ve paid $30 just for drinks. We got a smaller cup of tea with a lid for the kiddos and they still charged us the full price of $5. On top of that when I got the bill I discoverer they charge a mandatory gratuity of %20?? That is just utterly outrageous for the food quality and service. They probably charge a lot and have that much of a gratuity because they know people will not be coming back!

Really we ordered over the phone and they gave us zero dressings like lettuce and tomatoes… I even paid for extra cheese!! I spent a lot of $$ there I called they tell us come get them, we go and they are like you have no proof you didn’t get them after telling us to go … really lettuce and tomatoes… I need proof all of a sudden… horrible customer service!! Terrible management… never again they think their customers are liars pitiful place

Ordered for pickup when we opened container's at home we noticed we had been given burned dry food I immediately reached out to Management and have not received a follow up call this is very disappointing since it’s not the first time it’s happened at this restaurant.

Our cousin brought us here because many years ago the food was amazing. Not now. The food was cold, it did not look like it was home made. Beans looked like they came out of a can. The tea tasted like water. Our appetizer came out with our dinner. My cousins order was not correct. And the sorpapillas tasted like they had been fried in old grease. Prices weren't bad, but the food quality and service sucked.

Unfortunately my 1st visit, and didn't go so well. My coffee cup was dirty w/stains. Sprite taste like fountain water disgusting, I'll say.. Server make a couple mistakes on my order. Food ain't that good. I guess it will be my last visit. Olive garden same price and way to high quality food. And customer service.

Placed an order with DoorDash and an hour later dasher was still waiting for restaurant to complete order. Restaurant never started order. Had to cancel. Per dasher that was at restaurant the restaurant is a very disorganized place.

Tonight, called at 4 pm to place order for pickup. First tell tale sign things weren’t good is the girl answered phone “Hello”, then disconnected. Tried again, same girl, couldn’t get order straight, then disconnected, again. Called again, placed order. Time 15-20 minutes. I am also told that to pay by card there is an additional fee. Additional fee? There isn’t one when we eat there and take up a table. Got there right within the 20 minutes. Greeted, and told ANOTHER 15-20 minutes. One door dash ahead of me. He got his order in 15 minutes. Me, still nothing. Another 15 minutes goes by, and nothing. I go up to the counter, and the server comes to me and says, ANOTHER 10 minutes. I ask for the manager who explains that the person who took the order FORGOT to give the order to the cook, “she’s new”. I said, I understand new, but when I got there why wasn’t order addressed? Service worse than poor, and we’ve been going there for 35 years. Not gonna happen again. Done with the Riv.

Visited for the first time on Saturday morning for breakfast and was extremely disappointed despite having heard “great” things about this staple. It’s sad to know that just because you are an established restaurant, customer service goes out the door. Susana was extremely rude; two of our four plates were wrong, I practically was scolded by the waitress when I asked for a refills for the table, and corresponding condiments for plates were not brought out causing the already luke warm food to get cold. The experience itself was unpleasant that we didn’t even have the opportunity to enjoy the food. I would also like to think this was isolated to our table alone however, multiple orders were wrong as others patrons were trying to flag down waitresses. People make mistakes but there’s also a way to handle it and go about it. The staff member’s attitude and behavior, had it been handled suddenly would have made a world of difference.

Today I was at the restaurant around 8-9 to have a peaceful dinner with my husband, I noticed and heard because we we really close to the door of the kitchen, I started to hear some yelling and the truth I was worried because I thought something very bad was happening, I believe it was the owner yelling at his workers with really bad language and disrespect. I didn’t feel comfortable I didn’t even get to finish my dinner. Be aware of that restaurant and owner.

Avoid this place!! I've left my share of restaurants disappointed, but it isn't often I leave one outright angry! I travel often, with my dog, and whenever I find a dog friendly restaurant I like to give them my patronage. So when I found this one (apparently the only Mexican place in El Paso that allows dogs), I drove across the mountain to eat on their patio. I walk in, the hostest tells me, just go around to the back and go in the door there (a big black door with no clear signage). I did so, and still had to go into the bar to ask for some services (having to basically yell to the bar tender, causing other customers to have to get her attention for me). The guy comes out and takes my order. I'm the only one on the patio. The Chili Colorado was good, I'll give them that, but it was the ONLY thing that was good! If "not my job" was a person, it would be the server Josh!! I asked for the heat to be turned on. He said they didn't work yet (not sure why since it was all plugged up to the propane correctly). So I had to eat my meal in the cold. I was already there, so I decided to stay even though I thought his answer was BS. In the course of my meal, it also got dark. I didn't see Josh for the rest of my meal (could have used some extra napkins and a drink refill). So by the time I got up to go look for him to ask for the check it was already dark. He brought me the check and said "I don't know why the lights aren't working" (probably because you didn't bother to flip the switch, lazy! 🙄) and I had to sign my check in the dark. I also noted that the bar area had not been cleaned recently, as there was an empty glass, but no other customers in sight. Definitely not the experience I expected to have and not a place I'd recommend for anyone to go to!

We come regularly and have HAD wonderful service. The last few times the service had not been the best. We tried to give the benefit of doubt with the new staff but it’s just not working. The other bartender Ashley was always on top of drinks and making sure her customers were happy. This new girl is eating behind the bar while customers are waiting for drinks. We asked a server where our drinks were as we were waiting quite a while for them and he apologized and said he was waiting for drinks also. We Waited about 45 minutes for our food as well, and we had the special which was tacos and a quesadilla. The wait time all around was ridiculous. The atmosphere was not the same.

If you support Greg Abbott and his alignment with a regime that oppresses and dehumanizes Mexicans, the very people who run the food industry, then I suggest you stop making money off Mexican food and culture to cure your hypocrisy. Start serving hot dogs instead.

This is one of the most horrible Mexican food restaurants in our area. Service super slow. Host is incredibly rude, on her phone. Food took very long to be served. Missing items on our order. Area by kitchen smells like pee. Never again. To many Mexican food restaurants in our area that are so much better.

Passing through Texas and wanted to try mexican food in Texas. Not the spot to stop. I Ordered taquitos plate very plane no salsa of flavor. My wife ordered pozole came 20 min after my meal meat was all fat not good. Service was slow dispute being not busy.

Been coming here for years. No more. This 'Prime Rib' cost $24 but was mostly fat. The potatoes were delicious though. Very disappointing!
