Awesome burgers. Thank you so much for your generosity, community service and for supporting Jefferson High School Basketball Tournament.
Food is the same as it ever was. DELICIOUS. Protect this place at all costs. Been here for YEEEEAARS, and heard we almost lost her a while back. Big outdoor fun area for kids and adults who want to act like kids. Always a party going on, must be a good deal to have a get together there. Green Chile Double is where it's at! Consider it!
It was a great place to bring the family; the food was great. We had a great time with all the epfsc families.
Great food as always ! Was pleasantly surprised to see the kids having a mini concert. Will be back!!
Charcoaler is such an El Paso icon. We were there supporting El Paso Figure Skating Club and had a great time as usual!
Great food. Had a nice time at the fundraiser for El Paso Figure Skating Club!
I loved the atmosphere it's so chill, Burger was good maybe I needed 2 though. Kids had a blast.Great El Paso Spot. Support Local !!!
Newly renovated and modern but still with the classic flavor that Charcoaler has served in El Paso. The huge outdoor patio and play space is great for families and their dogs! Yes, you can bring well behaved dogs. Sports on the many TVs throughout make enjoying a craft beer and the views more than worth it!
The burgers were great and everyone was super nice! We were there with the El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser.
Big shoutout to Charcoaler for coming up Big in our Fox country classic tournament. We were able to feed students, referees, and the community members. Delicious!!!
The restaurant did a great job hosting the fundraiser for El Paso Figure Skating Club, it was well organized and ran smoothly.
I went for the Jeff and El Paso HS fundraiser and this was my first time and the food is 10/10 and the band was so fun
Very good food and shakes! We had a great time with the El Paso Figure Skating Club!
Delicious food and awesome atmosphere! Had a great time eating good food while supporting the Jefferson Silva fundraiser
Great service and nice staff. Enjoyed having the El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser there.
Had a great time at our El Paso figure skating fundraiser! The meal was delicious
Was there for the El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser. Great place to eat at! Very good food
Came for the Jefferson/Silva Band fundraiser. Loved everything. Delicious burger and live music from Jefferson/Silva
Great food, great place. They were great with our team, the El Paso Figure Skating Club. Thank you, Charcoaler!
I went while the Jefferson Silva band was playing. It was an extremely nice experience and I hope to see more of it in the future!
Went to support the JSHS Silver Fox band and South Central Winterguard and indoor percussion. Loved the food and loved the environment!
How dare anyone give this place less than five stars! Five in fact is not enough! I curse the reviewer who did not like the onion rings. Shame for all eternity.... And someone complained about too much sauce in the wrapper? There can never be enough sauce on the burger, or in the wrapper! Consider yourself blessed and think on your sins...
Good as it ever was! This is the true charcoaler that we knew growing up! We were out here about four months ago, and it was simply awful, BUT not tonight! The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The burgers had that famous charbroiled taste, and the onion rings were spectacular! The reason they were so good was because we asked them NOT to include the barbecue sauce! If you don't specifically let them know no bbq sauce, they will slather those patties like no one's business, so forewarned is forearmed! We will he returning very soon, most definitely.
student from the Jefferson Silva Band here 🙋🏽thank you guys for letting us do our fundraiser here, means so much to every single one of us. other than the friendly staff they have great food, highly recommend
In town visiting family and we always stop by Charcoaler. I have been eating here since the Cox family owned it and the old Char-burg, owned by Bob Jr's brother (closed) on the Eastside on Montana Ave., since the late 70's. Even though it is a different owner, everything taste great and they have kept it the same as I remember, at least w/ what we order every time we come back. We always order a #5 Red Chili Cheese Dbl & #7 Green Chili Dbl, both w/ an order of Onion Rings. (Love the signature bbq sauce) Thank you Charcoaler for great food and great memories.
I attended a fundraiser event here for Western Hills Academy. We had a great time! The food was tasty, and the kids had a blast playing outside in the game area. I also noticed they have tvs in the shaded area. It would be a fun place to watch a ballgame while the kids play. I will definitely visit again.
Consistently good quality food for years. Always hot, always fresh, and the soda is always sweet with a lot of bubbles.
Tasty burger, fries, and onion rings this evening. Friendly and helpful staff. I appreciate the Charcoaler for hosting the fundraiser for the El Paso Figure Skating Club!
Hamburger were awesome. Thank you for your support. This is the second year you support the Jefferson High School Boys Basketball Program. Once again Thank You.
Great local spot. Really good deals of the day. Good food and is one of a dying breed I would say. Every time you drive by they are supporting or hosting someone or something.
Fantastic experience at our El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser - the team absolutely loved their tasty meals!
Our family went to this delightful burger joint for the Franklin Band Fundraiser event on July 24th. The food was delicious and the service excellent! They have a wonderful outside family game area in the front. My kiddos love to challenge each at tether ball. We will definitely go here again for good ole family fun and great burgers!
We had our Figure skating fundraiser today and it was a great turn out. Staff was friendly and food was great like always
This place is great. The Jeff Silva band added such a nostalgic vibe. I appreciate seeing the future generation be so passionate about band/guard. I appreciate their fundraiser, company, and the food was 10/10.
My mom hadn't been there for years and especially since they added the dine in area. She said it was just like she remembered it and she loves the onion rings! Its nice when things can change a bit but the quality and the taste can remain the same!
Old School place. Can't wait to come here with my Chevelle and have a burger and shake. Was there again today and since I can't write a new review I had to edit this one I just wanted to say it was really refreshing to be attended by an employee by the name of Heaven. What an amazing young lady. Great attitude and so kind. I hope this edit is seen.
Everyone is always on point, food was great, and service is always warm and friendly, plus a great atmosphere for our kids to play! We hosted a baseball night (Angels) and they did a great job!
Great food and a great atmosphere. I love the giant play area for the kids. It's so nice that this local restaurant is still a part of the community.
We love bringing our kids here to eat and play. Fun atmosphere and a delicious, classic burger joint.
Came because of the Jefferson/Silva fundraiser. Haven’t been here in ages and it was amazing! Definitely making it a regular stop!
Had a kids birthday party here. The service was amazing, our hostess Pamela was super attentive and very friendly. All the guests were happy the burgers were a hit!
Our baseball team had a fundraiser night at Charcoaler and everyone was amazing. We didn’t have to ask for people’s receipts, they did that for us. The food was great and the kids had a blast. Perfect place for anyone wanting to celebrate!
Great food, great service. Shout out to Pamela is been awesome at every moment attending with a smile and courteously. Love comming to this place. Kid friendly.
Great place to take friends and family. You can eat like a drive in, or on their patio with picnic tables. Everything was clean and there is a smaller indoor area for when weather isn't up great. Food is good in all the variety of burgers and hotdogs. They have lawn games for the kids which helped while the adults in my group ate. They also had some beers on tap.
Great place for an authentic burger and fries. Fun place to visit and relax. Games outside to play while you eat, they also have space for kids to run around. Food tastes like a level above regular fast food chains. Price is very competitive considering its made fresh and local spot. Plenty of parking space around. You can either eat your food inside the restaurant or, if you want (and the weather allows it) you can eat outside on the picnic tables. Good to have options.
We visited during the El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser, and even though it was busy, the line moved quickly. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. We also really appreciated having the option to eat indoors — that area of the venue was really nice.
We were there for the El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser and while there were lots of customers, the line was quick and the cashier was awesome. I love the fact that we could eat indoors. That part of the venue was great.
Went here (it's been a few years!) for El Paso Figure Skating Club fundraiser. Forgot how great it is to have a burger that's as good as any sit-down restaurant in a space where the kids can run around. Love it!
I love Charcoaler! It's a classic El Paso burger place, with char-broiled burgers with barbecue sauce. It's a special kind of burger taste which can only be found at a place like this. I grew up in Lubbock and we had a similar place called Char-King. Unfortunately Char-King is long gone, but thank goodness Charcoaler lives on. I live down the street on Mesa Hills so am often tempted by the thought of the charbroiled burger taste to drop by Charcoaler. I always get the original double, and have never been disappointed. Only once did I get a junior hamburger (they were on special) and it wasn't as good as the full sized. Tasted and felt like it had been sitting for a while. But otherwise the original doubles all seem freshly made. Both their onion rings and fries are excellent. I haven't tried anything else, just the tried and true staples. I'm extremely glad Charcoaler survived the scare of a few years ago when it was shut down for a while, and then maybe someone else bought it? I can't remember but I do remember being extremely sad that they were going out of business, but then equally as happy to hear that they would be carrying on. I hope Charcoaler is here for many years to come.
We ate here today for the first time. The girl working the counter was friendly and helpful. The service was fast and the food was very good. The onion rings were delicious! The area was kept very clean and there was plenty of room indoors and outside for seating. We will definitely be back.
Incredible family friendly place to eat a delicious meal and hang out with children. The fully gated play area has child friendly games that will appeal to all ages. My children will play here for hours ! The food is delicious from the burgers and chili dogs to the ice cream and pie. Our last visit Pamela was a wonderful host and insured that we were having a great time. We will continue to come back.
A legendary local burger joint in El Paso. I enjoy the food and the kid friendly atmosphere. Plenty of menu items. My favorite is a number 1 combo. I had no idea they serve ice cream and beer until today. I usually eat in my vehicle, but i decided this time to get down. They have plenty of activities for kids and adults. Cornhole, connect 4, teatherball, hoops, sandbox and trash can pong.
First time eating at Charcoaler. Our experience was very nice. The cashier explained the most popular meals, making it easy to order. The burger patties are made there from ground beef, and the onion rings are made fresh too. The burgers are not very big so there is an option of getting two burgers in the combo. They also have Blue Bunny ice cream. Yum. Perfect dessert after having burgers. The restaurant is very clean and the workers clean up right after a table clears up. Very friendly staff. My family and I really enjoyed having lunch.
Everything is always so delicious. The burgers , the onion rings , the pickle fries. My favorite is the cherry pie !

If you have kids or you are a big kid yourself this is the place you have been looking for , they have great burgers but also a huge patio filled with games ! Fun time fine food !
Yummy burgers and fries. Good variety. Place for the kids to play. Friendly staff! You can smell the charbroil

Amazing views of the mountains and with restrictions lifted kids able to run around while you enjoy a burger and cold brew...underrated gem of El Paso.
Yummy burgers and fries! We tried the apple pie too and it was nice and hot. Great prices, like a true drive in meal. Good family atmosphere outside. The staff was super friendly too!

I just went to Charcoaler for the first time in forever and to be honest, I really liked it. I love the fact that the kids can play around while we chill and take a beer. I liked it so much. I’ve been back twice already and I think I’ll continue going as long as the kids like it
First time to Charcoaler. I was impressed. But the portions are tiny. Great onion rings! Next time I’ll try a shake.
Great food but would like it if my burger had lettuce and a little less BBQ sauce. Kids and dog friendly on their games patio! Props to the worker who was handling walk in and drive through traffic! It was our first time coming here and would definitely come again! I know the onion rings don’t look as crispy but they truly are! Oh and they give you the good soft, crushed ice in your drinks! 👍🏻
I grew up in El Paso and never made it out here. This is my first stop on my tour of El Paso cuisine that I miss or missed while living here 20 years ago. The hype around this place is well earned. It’s a cute little drive-in style burger and fry shop with an emphasis on an atmosphere of a cookout. There’s a spot out front (surrounded by a cute white gate) that you can play lawn games and eat outside. There is an indoor dining area too, as well as the popular drive thru (which was the only part that was there when I lived here before). Areas are clean, food was good (if just a little small) and prices were fair. I’d come back when I’m in town again.
I had my first lunch here today, and it was great! 🤩 The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. I think I'll save this spot for special occasions. It's definitely more of a "dinner and drinks" kind of vibe. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! #newrestaurant #goodeats
Thank you so much for hosting our group (South Central Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard) tonight for their fundraiser! We appreciate you and love supporting local.
Always a good option for kids to run and play. The burgers are okay, not super delicious, but I really like the place, especially at night. It gives off a really cool vibe. The service is good some days and really bad on others, but overall, it’s a great spot.
We’ve been hosting events here for the past three years and have always had wonderful experiences. The staff and service were great again this year, and we truly appreciate that! That said, there were a couple of disappointments this time around. Our organization’s name was not displayed on the marquee as it has been in the past, which we always look forward to as it both welcomes our group and helps draw in traffic. In addition, the flyer created by the establishment advertised our event as running from 4 PM to 9 PM, but we were cut off at 8 PM. Unfortunately, this left guests in line unable to participate, which impacted sales and created frustration. We love coming here and want to continue supporting this venue, but this year didn’t have the same warm, welcoming feeling as before and, honestly, left us feeling a bit unwanted. We hope these concerns can be addressed, because we truly value this partnership and want to see it continue successfully in the future
Food not so great but the kids (3&4) love to go there. I like that it isn’t too packed and that we can have adult drinks. Pizza places are crowded and full of electronics. Here the kids get to be outdoors. The only downside is that only one area is shaded so it can get a bit hot. Great during Spring or Fall, I wouldn’t dare go in a hot summer day.
Service was, "eh". The one person that was delivering and taking orders looked like they didn't want to be at work. Not friendly but wasn't rude so no complaints just an observation. Ambiance was ok,…

The food that I did get was ok, they forgot the burger that I had ordered. I think they were just trying to get everyone through so fast they missed it.
This well-liked westside staple remains as tasty as ever. The new entertainment family space appears to be well-liked by customers. The friendliness of the staff varies.
Absolutely disappointed with their food. Their menu was hard to discern and I was not impressed by their "hotdog". For their price I recommend going somewhere else.
For the first time in decades I got a burger that tasted awful. Salty and a rotten taste. I'd been anticipating an entirely different experience. I ate the best onion rings and threw the burger in the trash. (That's why 3 stars)
Still a great place to visit however the size and quality of the 🍔 has gone down tremendously. I understand the effects of inflation and having the Democrats helping the cause so hopefully next year it changes and ill informed El Pasoans quit voting Democrat. (SMH). I appreciate the lower prices but I'm willing to pay a little more for a quality burger like Charcoaler had a couple or few years ago with prime beef.. Call it a deluxe or large or something else. I understand lots of families with children can add up. The service and 🌰 rings are exceptional still. Thank you for recognizing Military Veterans 🪖 with a discount.I Wish Charcoaler the best.
Worst salad I’ve ever had…the chicken was literally frozen and the beans and corn were slimy like clearly just dumped out of a can without rinsing first. But the fries were great and the ambience was nice for my toddler and dog.
The Charcoaler is an El Paso institution. My wife is from El Paso, and she and her family love it. The onion rings are really spectacular with a crust that shatters when you bite it. She and her family love the hamburgers, and of course being in El Paso you can get them with a variety of chilies and guacamole and all kinds of stuff. The burger itself, however, at least for me, is nothing spectacular. I think it's really one of those things where if you grew up here, eating it, it would be your default hamburger. Any El Pasoen would give it five stars. I think it's pricey for what it is. Four bucks for a cheeseburger. They are, by the way, very heavy on the ketchup, unless you specifically order otherwise.
Been by here and been intrigued about trying this place and I did. Food was cooked to order and the wait wasn't so long. The burger was decent. The extra singe on the bacon did help the taste and it wasn't a bad burger just wasn't an exceptional. Now that I am thinking on it, I can't remember if I got the cheese that I asked for on it. The fries were disappointing. The first fry I had was lukewarm and unseasoned. The second one gave me the raw potato vibe and I almost felt like I would be sick, I couldn't finish them. The staff was nice and I didn't hate it, if it wasn't for the fact that there are some items that I would like to try again, I wouldn't go back. This place is cost effective and the view is nice so it does have desirable aspects.
Good service, reasonable prices but food was just not that good. The texture of the hamburger meat was grainy That is the result of when you over knead the ground beef or you put a additive to make it go farther. The onion rings were way too greasy. The fries are frozen, not homemade. Too bad, the Charcoaler was a fave back in the day.
So my wife and I wanted to give these guys a try, especially me since I recall loving it as a kid. We chose initially to dine in. Entering, the atmosphere feels unwelcoming amd cold. We approached the young lady at the counter to order and felt no nostalgic warm welcome, I mean, I get more of a welcome at McDonalds. We both ordered combos. I was hoping for onion rings, but sadly they were out. When our order was ready, a different staff member tried to give it to a guy who came in after us. I watched him reach in the bag and thumb around, then give it back to the girl, I'm assuming stating it wasn't his. The girl was confused looking. She placed my order on a cart with cleaning supplies, and left briefly to try and find out whose order she had mistakenly given to the man. Upon returning, she approached me and my wife and gave us the order. I was frustrated because there wasn't even an offer to replace the fries that may have been touched. We chose to leave and eat at home. I ordered an avocado burger, and my burger barely had any avocado on it at all. The burger size for being a double was pretty small. Though the fries looked good, both of us were to disgusted at the idea of our food being touched by a stranger to eat them. Sadly, this was a very disappointing visit. We don't think we will be returning. Perhaps it was just a bad day, but I personally don't care to risk another disappointing visit.
Is the hamburger was mediocre. Was surprised, but in a good way that this thing had some kind of barbecue sauce. It was on special for $2.99. but I get it again, no. Not worth $2.99 (3.24) after tax. Sort of a overpriced regualr hamburger from McDonald's. With a little bit of barbecue sauce or some kind of tomato sauce. The girl at the front needs a happy pill. Or something Gives the impression or vibe that she does not want to be here. It's okay.
I normally don’t leave reviews unless I have a very positive or very negative experience. This is my second time eating here. The first time, my daughter’s order was incorrect. She got the flaming burger or whatever it’s called with the hot Cheetos? and she got a plain burger and my Moms onion rings were missing. They corrected it. No big deal. Mistakes happen. The food was good. Fast forward to today, I ordered the original double double and a large fry. When I first opened the wrapper the first thing I noticed is the whole paper was covered in bbq sauce because it was so messy and coming out of the sides. The second thing I noticed, it was just bbq sauce and meat. (The menu and online says cheese, pickles, onion and bbq.) I double check my order to make sure I ordered it correctly, and I did. So, I go inside.. tell the lady at the counter.. and show her my receipt. She’s like, “So, you wanted it plain and dry?” I’m like no… I didn’t make any modifications to it. I just ordered it the way it comes.. and I point out how messy the wrapper was. She says she can go ask the manager *if* they can remake my burger. (Never apologizing for the issue.) So, then the manager comes out and asks me what’s wrong with my burger… I explain it again and point out the messiness of the burger too. She tells me that it doesn’t come with cheese…. So, I pull up the menu online where it clearly has a picture of a double double with cheese.. and states that it comes with cheese… and I show her my receipt that I did not make any customizations. So, then she says they will remake it… and again, at no point did anyone apologize for the mistake. I used to work in the service industry so I’m not being picky or being a brat. But, my order was incorrect… I was argued with essentially that my order was wrong my both the employee and manager… no apology and again I was very kind about it. I just wanted what I ordered. Finally got my remake. The burger was very good. Like I said, the food is good but both times the service has been lacking unfortunately.
If you're in the mood for the food of your youth, good hamburgers and crunchy onion rings, this is THE place. I opted out of the bbq sauce dipped patty and it tasted like an old diner meal. Goo…
I’d give it a 3.5 star if someone would answer the phone. There is not excuse not to answer during business hours. I called 4 times and still got their answering machine. Whoever worked on Tuesday 8-19-25, you clearly made sure to ignore the phone. Yall forgot to give us our onion rings. Which you pride yourself on. I haven’t been to this establishment since high school and that was over 10 years ago. I remember why I have never bothered to come here. It was lame then and it still is after 10 year. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LACK OF GETTING YOUR ORDER RIGHT. Food is less than mid. Burger came with no cheese when we clearly asked for cheese. I haven’t no idea how this place is still operating. It just meat with lettuce and it’s tiny. Chili cheese fries are dry as heck. Whataburger is the place to go for a fast meal.

Rarely I give negative reviews but I will not go back to the Charcoaler. My experience was not good starting with a room temperature burger and very few onion rings. I returned my burger for a hotter one but it was not an improvement. The picnic bench style seating was a bad idea. The bench part was so low that I injured my knee trying to stand up. The only diet soda was not labeled on the self-serve fountain. And condiments are self-serve packets. The fried pineapple pie is good. Sorry, I refuse to go back. McDonald's food is served hot, unlike this assembly line get up.
I went to The Charcoaler in El Paso around 9 p.m. yesterday with my dad, and we had a really bad experience with the young girl working the counter. We were asking about the #9 burger that’s listed with ghost pepper cheese, and she told us it didn’t come with any and said we “must be blind.” Instead of simply explaining, she made unnecessary comments and her overall attitude was disrespectful. So we left. We’ve always liked The Charcoaler, but this experience was upsetting and not what we expected. I hope management looks into how customers are being treated, because friendly service makes all the difference.
Answer the freaking phone Called 6 times in a row to inquire about uber eats menu and how theres no way to order a single item. Thats a huge problem yall dont ever answer the phone and its a business. Why have a phone? Horrible
The food tasted fine, but it was in much smaller portions than the menu let on. Their double burgers felt like jr burgers and I had a small portion of fries. Our food was originally handed to the wrong people, then put on a cart with cleaning supplies before they finally realized it was our food. My husband’s avocado burger had a hint of avocado and his cherry coke was watered down. The bun was gummy. Kids were running around and screaming inside.
It seems as if a lot of their 5 star reviews come in exchange from people who hosted fundraisers with Charcoaler. I've been to Charcoalar twice in passing and both visits were disappointing. The burger itself is okay. I decided to return after seeing several reviews saying the onion rings were a must-try. They were very disappointing. They were so salty they were not edible. On both visits, the same cashier helped me at the drive-through. She is rude and visibly unhappy to be there. After I placed my order, no one came to the window for about five minutes. She eventually walked up from the back of the restaurant to take my payment and hand me my drink, then disappeared again. By the time she returned, my burger had already been sitting on the counter for several minutes. Both times, I was the only car in the drive-through, ordered a single meal, and still waited at least ten minutes. On my most recent visit, my order was also incorrect, which made the wait even longer. The burgers are small and very messy. There was a $0.50 charge for lettuce, $0.50 for tomatoes, and a $1 upcharge for cheese and a $.90 to substitute the fries for the onion rings. For a $13–$15 drive-through meal, the service and food quality were not worth it. My second visit was my last, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
I waited in line with car for over 15 minutes. I said no onions and only sandwiches and they kept repeating over and over if I wanted the combo. I repeated again and again what I wanted to order. Only 3 employees!!!! On a weekend? Really? I ordered 2 of number one and meats were raw!!!!! How do you explain this? Also ordered a chicken sandwich and it's the smallest of patty, really??? You sure haven't lower the price for your sandwiches. I will let everyone know what a scam this restaurant has become. So sad as I grew up eating from here. Bad quality bad employees, bad service bad uncooked meats , bad small portion with a high price tag. Shame on you
