Avis sur Metro Cafe El Segundo
My favorite restaurant! Amazing staff and the food is always delicious. I always invite my friends and family. I highly recommend to anyone that's looking for delicious food. I also had a business meeting here and the staff took our order fast. You won't be disappointed! The manager is always interacting with the customers too.
A small, modern café with great pour-overs and minimalist vibes just a block off the main drag. I tasted a single-origin Ethiopian roast that was bright but mellow, paired with a slice of olive oil cake that was light and fragrant. The barista explained tasting notes with genuine excitement. Low-key and bright, perfect for a focused caffeine break. A coffee lover’s secret
Everything on the menu was fantastic. We all ordered different dishes and tried each others plate. DELICIOUS. The waiters were friendly and very knowledgeable. They made superb suggestions. Will definitely be back.
Excellent service Tasty food Fun menu Good coffee Entire time efficient and gracious
Service was great! The couple of waiters would check on us continuously refilling our coffee mugs. I had the Serbian Americana with the baguette and everything was tasty. The baguette was more of a country bread, but I'm nitpicking. The sauteed banana house special pancakes were super moist and fluffy that there wasn't the need to put more maple syrup on it.
Great place with great food! Large portions and excellent customer service. My kiddo had the California omelette while I went for the El Segundo with caramelized onions and bacon. Their breakfast potatoes are the best as they are sliced and crisped instead of the usual chunks of potatoes at most places. I also had a yummy iced latte with caramel.
First time here for breakfast. Diverse menu along with the standards. I had the spinach, mushroom, sausage with a mini omelet on top. Went with the fruit as my side. Everything was delicious. The fruit was fresh with mango, pineapple and lots of berries. My friend had the eggs benedict. Picture perfect.
We had a FANTASTIC breakfast here before our flight back home. The French toast with the raspberry compote was so delicious, the Spinach and garlic eggs were perfect, the fruit yogurt and homemade granola were delish as well. Banana pancakes were a hit. What a great ending to our vaca in California. Wish we had this spot back home!
I came here during shelter in place. They were open and had outdoor seating on the sidewalk. The waiter and waitress was really nice, they checked if the food is ok every one for a while. We ordered the California omelette and French toast. The omelette was tender and all the veggies were fresh. French toast on the other side was amazing. It was think, perfectly seared outside and moist inside. It was probably the best French toast I have ever had. I will definitely come back just for it. #brunch #frenchtoast #outdoorseating #breakfast
Had brunch today with my bestie I have not seen in 27 years, and his husband. They are on their way to San Fran and I came up from Long Beach. Never been here before, but the food and the staff were 😘🤌🏾. I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Mike had the fried chicken sandwich, Chico (Dennis) had some kind of omelette. We were all very pleased with our selections. Regrettably, I don't have any photos, as my phone was in the car charging, but let me just tell you, my plate was gorgeous. I especially like what they did with the hashbrown. The potato was thinly scallop cut, and formed in a large rectangle. I give the place a 10/10, the staff, especially our adorable waitress 12/10. Cost was mid, and we spent about $25 each for food and tip. I'll add photos of our dishes if I can find some online. ***I highly recommend this place***
Just a fantastic gem in El Segundo. They have a wonderful happy hour from 5-6 pm Tuesday-Sunday with $10 plates. We had the chicken karaage, chevapchichi and a mushroom flatbread. All were excellent. The goulash for dinner was so hearty and unexpectedly great for such a simple seeming dish. Most reviews for this place talk up the breakfast (which is amazing) but the dinner menu is just as good if not better
Really excellent breakfast. The Bern Special (photo) was so good! Nice portions. Good portions of fruit and potatoes (which were done just right). The charbroiled chicken sausage was delicious. Nice outdoor seating. All-around recommend.
*Delayed post from July '25 We really enjoyed our meal and experience here at Metro Cafe! Free public parking is conveniently available next door in the garage. We sat outside and appreciated the large amount of shade provided by the umbrellas. The restaurant is an indoor, outdoor hybrid because the windows are huge and open completely to allow the sea breeze inside. TVs line the indoor walls with various sports games and real plants are sprinkled throughout the space. To start we ordered a cappuccino and a matcha latte, which both came out with a large amount of foam on top with latte art and a slice of brown sugar on the side. The smoked salmon benedict was delicious and went well with the egg muffins underneath. I recommend adding Cholula sauce to give the hollandaise a kick. There was a significant amount of salmon and I loved the tomatoes and fresh herbs on top. All the plates seemed to have large portions, but the French toast especially was massive! It’s made with four giant brioche slices that are crunchy and crispy on the outside, yet spongy and moist in the middle from being properly soaked through. I think it would be better however to cut the slices in half because you would have a better ratio of crispy to spongey in every bite. The raspberry jam pairs well with the sweet meal because it’s tart and adding the fresh fruit is a must because you need more textures and flavors to break up the monotony of eating sugar coated bread. I personally didn’t need to use the syrup at all with how sweet and moist the bread already was, but they provide it for those with an extra sweet tooth.
I came to Metro Cafe in El Segundo with the fam for breakfast on my first day back in LA, and we were firing on all cylinders. As I pulled up, I saw my 11 month old nephew outside smiling at me from ear to ear. I have been fighting demons recently and hadn’t seen him in a few months, and that smile was honestly all I needed. If they could bottle a baby's genuine smile and sell it, I think it could cure depression worldwide. 6 of us and 1 baby sat down in Metro, natural light flooding in from the huge windows as we caught up. Vibes were UP. The older I get, the more I see my peers having fractured family dynamics, so I’m beyond grateful to have such a great relationship with my Mom, Dad, brother, and sister in law. A true blessing. I locked in on my lifeblood order of 2 eggs any style with chicken sausage ($21). The thing about me is I just love ordering a breakfast I could easily make at home. Idk why, but a simple breakfast feeds my soul. Brings me back to homeostasis. I must note that $21 for this plate is STEEP, but the portion size was huge which was nice. The food was also phenomenal, but $21 for a basic breakfast still just doesn't sit right. We had a blast in here catching up, discussing hopes, dreams, aspirations, love, and how expensive a simple breakfast meal has become. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__
We have been here twice in the last 3 days. I got the eggs Benedict both times and it is so good! The salted caramel latte is what we mainly came back here for though. So good!
My favorite brunch place. The food is delicious. The ingredients are super fresh. Sauces are scratch made in-house. Dishes do not have that mass-produced flavor and presentation. The French toast and pancakes are light and fluffy. The burgers are juicy. Not pictured, but on this trip, we added salmon to a salad with roasted vegetables. The salmon was cooked perfectly, skin was crunchy, filet was not dry and chewy. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We had a family dog with us on this trip, so we sat in the charming outside patio area. The patio is done nicely with a tall screen, a wall of plants and freestanding umbrellas for shade. It is comfortable on a sunny day even though it is on the south side of the building. The wall of plants gives it a homey ambiance. Highly recommend.
I would like to thank Reddit for suggesting this restaurant. We had about 10 hours before we could check into our hotel. We arrived very early to LA. This restaurant was clean, decorated nicely, and not busy at all (we got there right after opening. ) The staff were all polite. I appreciated that everybody helped everybody else's tables out. The food was fantastic. I got some banana pancakes and they were delicious.
We really enjoyed this modern yet quaint cafe in the heart of the “Gundo”. Inside dining is nice…outside sidewalk dining is nicer. Our server, Geovani, was awesome! The food was good overall and I guess $19 for a sandwich is normal in LA (clearly I am a tourist). That said, we liked it a lot and will be back again! VictorB
I recently visited Metro Cafe for lunch and was blown away by the quality and taste of their turkey and swiss sandwich and prosciutto mozzarella sandwich (and sweet potato fries)! The ingredients were top-notch, making for the perfect combination of flavors. The thin sliced turkey was ample and the swiss cheese added a creamy texture that perfectly complemented the sandwich. The prosciutto, fresh mozzarella sandwich was equally delicious, with the prosciutto being thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned. I was thoroughly impressed by the care and attention that was put into creating these delicious meals. I highly recommend stopping by Metro Cafe for lunch and trying out these amazing sandwiches! Five stars, hands down. UPDATE: 12/5/2023: The 5-star review still stands! Hands-down one of my favorite restaurants in El Segundo. It's not just that the food's amazing, but the ambiance and the customer service is 'beyond'! Kudos to Metro and the staff for making this a great place to keep coming back to.
First time. 2 adults around 930 on a Sunday morning. We came right on time because it was backed 10-15 mins later! Food came out fast and hot. Everything was delicious. Best blueberry pancakes ever!!!!! Had a caramel cappuccino! It was soooooo good! Definitely stop by and check it out. Out door seating was nice too Friendly staff and attentive
Food was wonderful and tasted delicious. The omelette was well done with the veggies full of flavor. The French toast had great brioche that were also big and filling. Combined with fruits makes up for a full meal. Highly recommend. Tried tres leches latte but couldn’t get behind more sweetness after the French toast.
If you’re looking for a great casual meal in El Segundo, check out Metro for salads, sandwiches, burgers, soups, and coffee. The staff was attentive, friendly, and welcoming; they let me choose which table I wanted to sit at and brought me water right away. They have a variety of seating options, including high tops along the large windows, regular low tables, bar seating, and an outdoor patio. You could tell they genuinely appreciated you dining with them, and this made me feel welcome and want to return again soon. For parking, there’s plenty of free street parking on both Grand Ave and in the neighborhood streets, along with free parking in the structure connected to Metro. For coffee, they carry the Italian-style by Caffe Luxxe, roasted locally in Los Angeles. It was a little late in the day for me for coffee this time, but I’ve had it here before and it was smooth and delicious. To drink, I went with the Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice ($9) and it was so delicious, fresh, and refreshing that I drank it way faster than I’d intended. For my lunch entree, I felt like the salad with the same name as their establishment would be a good choice, and I was not disappointed with my decision. The Metro Salad ($19) comes with red gem lettuce, watercress, English peas, a generous portion of freshly sliced avocado, almonds, thinly shaved manchego sheep’s cheese, and mint dressing. I added the grilled chicken ($5) and it was perfectly cooked and paired well with the Metro Salad. Overall, a great casual experience, and I can’t wait to return again soon!

Best pancakes I think I ever had. Just look at it .

Everything was great. Service a lil slow due to crowd and they make everything fresh but worth the wait. Best french toast (almost like a bread pudding) and Banana Pancakes. Big portions so shareable. Definitely on our list when we visit our son at LMU.
Low-key, Metro cafe (both locations) have some of the best food around. Their Gulash is spectacular; I've literally never had anything bad here in all the years I've been visiting. I believe the owner is Serbian, and it shows from how good everything is. Some of the best dining I've ever had was in Belgrade.

The atmosphere and ambience is great! We went there on a random Friday morning. It was nice and easy to find parking on the street. Food: not the best egg Benedict I ever had. The hollandaise sauce was not so good. Otherwise everything else is good. Service: was a bit slow, might just be a busy day.
Came here for dinner on a sunday afternoon. Wasn't really busy, just one peaceful afternoon. Service was good and the place was nice & clean. The food was ok. Happy Hour from 5 pm to 6 pm !! Order the Fried Chicken Sandwich Cost $21 7/10 •was good but just something I won't get in the future! Needs more flavor Spicy Sprimp Pasta Cost $26. 9/10 •Was pretty good had flavor & a great balance Order 2 small plates 1 chicken karage. 7/10 Cost $9 • if I had known this tasted the same from my fried chicken sandwich, I wouldn't have gotten the sandwich. the sauce it came with was pretty good. 1 romaine 10/10 Cost $ 7 • probably my all favorite! It's has a lot of delicious flavor & for sure, the thin cheese gives it for sure the big flavor! 2 vanilla cappuccinos 4/10 Cost $7 • not good at all for the price & the size! this cappuccino needs some worth. & change of tea cups as well. My cup set was chipped. :(
I'm sure, had we had the mimosas, we would have left hooping and hollering down the street like the other group. But alas, we did not. So it was fine. Nothing bad but also nothing to write home about. Maybe I'm just bitter cause I had the healthy salad. But their outdoor seating was nice.

After reading the reviews, we decided to have breakfast at this Cafe before catching our flight. The food in the reviews looked great but we left not having the experience we thought we'd have. All of us got an omelet which came with potatoes and toast. The omelet looked dry like it was sitting there from the day before. If it was, I'm not sure why it took so long for our food to come out. They did the shortcut way of pre- making the egg part of the omelet and then did the filling fresh. I ordered the spinach and feta. The spinach was supposed to be sautéed but it looks like they just tossed it real quick in a pan with the feta. It wasn't as cooked as I would have liked. The combination of the spinach, feta and dill actually tasted good but poorly executed. Maybe if we ordered some of their other dishes like the waffles or egg benedict they would have been better choices, but if you can't make an omelet completely from scratch then it shouldn't be on the menu.
Not a go to for me... overpriced pancakes and non seasoned fried potatoes. Took a long time for service and I asked twice for no powdered sugar on the pancakes and they brought them out to me covered in powdered sugar and had to wait another 15 minutes or more for a new stack.
Menu is definitely overpriced. The food is presented well. Had the hamburger and fries for lunch, Pretty disappointed. The burger was cooked to order but mediocre at best. French fries come from a bag, For the price, definitely not worth it. Daughter had the berry pancakes, Better selection than the hamburger but still just mediocre. Cappuccinos were good. Atmosphere is OK. Service was poor, Friendly staff, but not very attentive. Definitely won’t be returning.

I went to the El Segundo location earlier today (table 12) and ordered avocado toast. When I placed the order, I specifically told my server (Angelique O) that I only wanted avocado and toast—just simple, no toppings (no radishes, green onions, tomato, cilantro, sesame seeds, jalapeños). When the bill came, I was shocked to see I was charged the full $17 for the menu version, even though I didn’t order it that way. I brought it up with the server, who spoke to the manager, but she came back and said nothing could be done. Honestly, I left super frustrated. I basically paid $17 for bread and avocado, which doesn’t feel right at all. The lack of flexibility and unwillingness to address the issue was really disappointing. Definitely not planning to come back after this experience.
I had the Chevapchichi Sandwich and despite it being promising, it was very flavorless. It had sausage links and came apart easily, which is would not be a dealbreaker if it was flavorful. My bf had the omelette which was very greasy and subpar for the price. In addition we had two servers - the first server was great while the second server was very rude. Would not recommend!!
