Avis sur Cafe 33 Elgin
Quaint one-off neighborhood coffee shop and bakery. Good menu of specialty drinks, but I’ve only gotten the latte’s. Very good. Ditto for the bakery stuff like croissants and biscotti’s. Fast service from the counter. Right on Chicago Street, street parking can be scarce but there’s a garage across the street.
Stopped in Sunday morning the service was amazing. The staff was super friendly and there is a cash discount and an old school punch program. The place was hopping and sometimes has day old for a discount and it was delicious.
The best local coffee shop!!! Workers are extremely charismatic and friendly. Wide variety of drink options and the pricing is very affordable. It’s a small shop so it’s more of a grab and go, but there are a few seats if you want to sip and enjoy your coffee in a ceramic mug. I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area.
Nice coffee spot in downtown Elgin that I was glad to find this past Saturday afternoon. Very friendly baristas and a large menu full of the usual suspects and more. Ordered a Chili Chocolate iced latte after one the baristas gave me a rundown of what was in it. Tasted great and liked the laidback feel that I got even from just being inside of the cafe for a little while. Looking forward to warmer weather so that I can grab an iced shakerato the next time I'm in Elgin.
Cute, locally run and owned Coffee Shop with delicious Pastries. Very reasonable prices considering what breakfasts costs at a commercial coffee house. They have all kinds of coffee options, including ice coffee blended in a cocktail shaker. All of Sugar & Rhymes pastries and dessert options are delicious, but the Croissants are to die for. I've had chocolate, ham & cheese and plain butter. The almond must be just as delicious, because they're always sold out by the time I get there. Next time, I'll call and do an order ahead a few days in advance. They also will wrap up your pastries (or coffee) to go, with instructions on how to reheat and not burn them in your own oven. Slightly burned they're still delicious. A word of warning, they're so big they don't fit in all toaster ovens.
Percy greeted me at the counter. Such a smiling face. Offered to heat up my quiche. Which is amazing, by the way! (Croissant crust is so innovative.) Pat brought out my order quickly, (Also very friendly.) Nice dine in vibe. Took home croissants. You can tell it takes 3 days to make them. Photo worthy, and flaky beyond compare. Shout out to Kelly in the back!
This cafe has a wonderful staff/owners and the best croissants I've ever had! I've tried all their croissants and adore them all: classic butter croissants, chocolate croissants, almond croissants, and even smoked ham and gouda filled! Their other pastries are great, too. And they make an awesome chai latte - my favorite drink! And, I absolutely love that they use eco friendly packaging. I hope this place stays in Elgin for a long time. We're so lucky to have them.
The place itself is beautiful. Maroon themed and adorable sitting area. I tried the creme brule latte, and it was warm, smooth, semi sweet (how I like it) it also has the creme brule effect on top of the drink... that was delicious. The kitchen looks so clean and amazing. Staff are very approachable and friendly. Great place to do some work, quick coffee break, or just for a delicious baked good.
First time in and everything smells so good 🤩 homemade syrups?! Ok fancy. I got iced tea and chocolate croissants, both delish. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Beautiful little shop with the best croissant I have ever had. The amaretto chocolate cheesecake is incredible. The atmosphere is wonderful and the baristas have the best customer service skills. Even as they got busy Kelly still asked everyone if they wanted their pastries warmed. The crème brúlatte shakerato is so good no other iced coffee is going to compare again. You can definitely tell everything in this place is made with love. I absolutely recommend
Baked goods are all made in house and truly delicious. The drinks are also handcrafted with many ingredients made from scratch! Definitely worth your time to visit this quaint coffee shop in downtown Elgin.
Great place to stop anytime you're downtown Elgin! We had some delicious chocolate croissants and of course Black coffee. Excellent artwork and Wonderful people behind the counter!
Absolutely delicious pastries! I have tried 3 different croissants and Americano and their black and tan coffee which is a mix of light and dark roast. All the croissants are the best you can get. The coffee is good too.
Arrive early to pamper your taste buds with sweet and/or savory treats! We came about noon on a weekday and most items were sold out. That's happy news for this super cafe! I selected the chocolate amaretto cheesecake, topped with fresh whipped cream. Creamy and luscious, with an interesting crunchy crust. Yummy! My husband selected the cinnamon roll, which he enjoyed with a dark coffee. Really happy to have pastries served on real plates with reusable utensils, as well as beverages in brightly decorated reusable mugs. Pastries are fresh everyday. Any leftover items are donated at closing to the Y or Elgin PADS.
Stopped in on a whim. I usually go to a different place in downtown Elgin but they open much later. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this place. The staff were super friendly even when I asked them a bunch of questions about a dirty chai. I ordered a dirty chai which was really good and also the chocolate amaretto cheesecake. Amaretto is one of my favorite flavors which is pretty rare to find. The cheesecake was delicious and I will definitely be going back. Maybe sitting in the cafe this time. What really sold me on this place was the friendly staff, that's rare these days.
Amazing little coffee shop in downtown Elgin. The vibes remind me of being in a small town! They make sure everything is perfection for you when ordering. The coffee packs a punch with good flavor which tells ya they are for-real. I’ll be back for another cup whenever I’m around town.

The pumpkin caramel creme seasonal latte was DELICIOUS!! The smoked ham and Gouda croissant also had a great flavor. Staff was also super kind and helpful to navigate the menu!
Sweet and cozy coffee and tea shop. Tea and coffee served in beautiful mugs! I did not have a pastry but I have heard good feedback on the pasteries.

Found this place a week ago and am already hooked! The coffee is delicious, the menu is wonderful, and the staff is so kind and attentive. It is the cutest little coffee shop and also a safe place for diversity and inclusion, celebrating all the beautiful diversity of humanity! I will continue to support this great business.
These are the best croissants I’ve ever had ! They are super flaky and crispy and soft and warm on the inside. I messed up up my order and the employees were super nice and helpful. I will be coming back !
Very cute coffee shop. Stopped in to grab coffee and a pastry. I got a Iced Dirty Chai and one of the Smoked Ham and Gouda Croissants. The Chai was good, not too sweet or too spicy, just right. The Croissant was Chef's Kiss! It had a good amount of ham and cheese and it was buttery and flakey. Definitely would go just for that, it was so good. I got a Monkey Bread too but have not tried it yet because my day got away from me yesterday. It's a small shop, but had seating when I was there and was very cute.
Cute shop! Small inside but there's places to sit. I usually have boring coffee at home, and the kind barista helped me pick out a fun drink. His recommendation was SPOT on, I loved it! My drink was something to be savored, with deep flavor. The gluten free chocolate oatmeal cookie was delicious, I wish I ordered 2 of those! They have several gluten free treats to pick from. My husband got the monkey bread, he also loved it. Barista asked if we wanted our bakery treats warmed, which was another great choice! I'd definitely come here again and try more things!
Monkey bread was amazing for kids. Ham and Gouda croissant was amazing, buttery and flakey. Cheesecake tastes homemade. I'm not sure what happened with the almond croissant the inside was sopping with butter and the outside, burnt. Everything else was amazing tho, atmosphere was homey and the street it was on was friendly.
