Yes, it's not so healthy. But as the only fast food fish joint, and the amazing batter, it will always get 5 stars from me. This location also has very friendly staff.
Was helped quickly but had to wait for my food for like 30 mins. The food was tasty once we got it but wasnt the best and the crucnhy chicken wasnt even really crumchy it was more soft than anything.

Guy at the counter it was last Saturday around 7 I ordered the feast with 2 fish 6 shrimp . He was so nice offered me condolences for my brother passing away . And it was fast maybe 30 seconds kinda felt like ok the food is gonna be cold but no It was piping hot and fresh some of the best long John's I have had in years I'm near 40 long John's was big in the 90s and this tasted like it did then. Whatever this new staff is doing keep it up.

I enjoyed my fish and fries. Everything was fresh and delicious. The only thing I would suggest is to have the condiments accessable to the customers and I could not find napkins. Everything else was great.

I eat there a lot but yet I dont know why I do because when I get my food it's never fresh and you can tell its cooked in old grease. I will order shrimp every time it's my favorite food. And they dont make sure you get all your food. Just yesterday my husband ordered the food plus his meal came with a drink. But they didnt give him his. By the time we realized he'd didnt get it he was not going to turne around and go back and get it. We live in Smithville and they are the only one near us. I have doctor's appointment once a month and that's were we like to go. And another thing I always ask for extra crumbs. And they told me they dont make them anymore and yall stopped giving them out to customers. Anyway that's my complaint. I really wish yall would open one up near Smithville or in Bastrop.
Had to return meal because fish was old. Must have been sitting in warmer for quite awhile. Dried up and awful looking. Took it back for exchange for fresh cooked filets and they threw a couple in their cardboard box and slid it to me over the counter. Very disrespectful. I will never go back.
Before you leave the drive thru, make sure you have your receipt because they may not have given it to you. Once you find your receipt check the receipt to make sure you got what you ordered. If you don't do these two things then you might get home and find out that the receipt is missing and you are missing an item. If that happens you will call the number provided on google maps and it will ring forever because its the wrong number. Not sure if they did that on purpose. Once you figure out that the number is wrong, you will have to drive back to get your receipt and the missing item. When you get back and ask for a manager, make sure you get the real manager. If you do the first two steps you will avoid finally coming home to eat 1 hour old food. Also, don't except any free food because this makes them feel like they didn't do anything wrong. They will never learn and this vicious cycle will continue forever.

Hadn’t eaten in Long John’s Silvers in years. So decided take my 80 year parents to eat fish. We had LJS in our hometown growing up. This was the worst experience at fast food ever. One other customer and I had to wait several minutes before anyone even came out to the front. Then they got my order wrong. They gave me 2 L2s instead of 2 L1s. By the time I realized it we were down the road. Staff was rude and food was not that great. Fast food could take a lesson from Chick Fil-a. Good customer service could go a long way. This is the first and last visit for me.

Ok so let's talk about... Long John's Silver is my dirty little secret... But the place shouldn't actually be dirty and I'm being nice... I went in and it was trash on the tables and on the floor. I told my baby to stand up because I didn't feel comfortable with him sitting at those nasty tables. The person that took my order deserved to work there, no shade, but they wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else, hence that's why she works there. Moving on... I was over charged which I brought to her attention. Once we were done doing the simple math and carrying the one and subtracting 3, we got my total right. Listening and paying attention to get my order right is like walking and chewing gum.... Some people can't do it. I'm going to leave that right there. So all in all, just go to another Long John's Silver.
I'd imagine the lady running the drive thru is a good manager for keeping costs and labor down but I would think terrible for people actually returning. I don't particularly like getting snapped at for everything I say. I love long John silver's and I live in Elgin and I'll never go back.
On July 16 at 640p I ordered a family meal because I had a coupon. I was told there isn't a coupon like that, I said I'm staring at it in my hand. Then she said we aren't serving LJS today. I said WHY! Her reply was we just arnt, I asked to speak with a manager, she said she could take my order but there would be a 25 min. Wait. I said WHY! Her reply was ...there are several orders ahead of you. I pulled around to the window, there was 1 car parked forward, so I was able to straight to the window. I asked for the nm of the mgr. They said Erica Martinez. The ph not listed on all sites is invalid...I won't ever go back !
Worst Long John Silver I've ever been to, food tasted like it was cooked 2 days ago with a nasty oil taste on the fish and fries I had to throw it away couldn't eat that, I would never stop there again.
Waited for 10 minutes and no one came to help. There was 2 employees working and there was 1 in the lobby talking on the phone. I got tired of waiting decided to take my buisness else where. As I'm leaving out the door one of the employees decides to acknowledge me and shouts out THANK YOU HAVE A NICE DAY. Wow!!!
Ordered 2 fish and shrimp dinners takeout. The hush puppies were dried out and hard,fish, shrimp and fries were in the same state. They had sat under lamp for hours. Tried to call and complain for 2 hours and no one answered the phone. I have never had such horrible food. I had to throw mine away. I would advise you go elsewhere for your food.
This was a HORRIBLE experience. The young kid that was running the drive thru was rude. When I asked that 6 hush puppies be added to my order at the window, he hung his head, sighed, and rolled his eyes. Then as he handed me our drinks, I asked which tea was sweet and which wasn't (I'm diabetic). He said "I don't know, have to play Russian Roulette to figure it out." Then after sitting at the curb for 20-25 mins waiting on our food, they brought us the wrong order and we had to go inside to ask for the right food. This was pure non sense.
They forgot me at the drive through. I spent 30 minutes waiting for fast food and spent $30. Just go to a restaurant - this place is not worth it. The inside has an odd bathroom like smell.
LJS is one of my favorite fast food locations, especially for fish and shrimp, but I will never return to this location. We waited almost 15 minutes for fish, the forgot to include the hush puppies on one order, forgot the little crispies on both orders, and included old overcooked fries with the second. And after the wait, the fish was overcooked. Very very disappointed.
DO NOT eat here Please! The employees do not wash their hands! We ordered our meal to go and only got drinks inside, the ice/drink machine was GROSS and the area around it was Filthy. The food came out 10 min later and when we checked our order it was wrong, missing sides, cold fish, missing add on fish. Paid over $30 and did not get half of order. Save yourself time and money, eat someone else.
So I wanted some LJS tonight, went here. Pulled into the drive thru at 9:26 PM they close at 10. I tried to order some LJS, they said they didn't have any and were only doing KFC. Cool, I ordered some tenders and pulled around to the window. I was asked about sides, and I said fries. The guy taking my order had put in mashed potatoes and gravy because they didn't have fries. I said cool, no worries. The girl working the drive thru said it was because they close soon. It was 9:28 at this point, and they were closing in 32 minutes. I get it, as someone who has worked in food service, I totally understand getting upset when people show up right at cose, but this was 32 minutes before then. I specifically went at this time because I didn't want to show up at 9:59.
We were there on a Wednesday around 6 pm. Can't rate the food because we waited 15 minutes and no one even took our order. There were other people dining in waiting for their food. It seemed like they were more worried about the drive-thru orders. I have been there before with no problems. Not sure what the problem was.
I went through the drive thru. I was asked to pull forward and wait for my food to be made that it would take 5 minutes. After twenty minutes I went inside and inquired about my food. They said that there was no pending order and I was asked to provide proof of purchase. This place has no regards for customers time or value. Super incompetent staff and management.
The sign on the door clearly says they are open until 10 pm. We arrived at 8:30 ordered our food. By 9:00 they locked the doors turned all the fryers off and the soda machine. We couldn't even get refills. The chicken that I was served was hard like leather. I couldn't even pull it apart. So I just ate the breading off of it. The closing staff was not very friendly. Needless to say we will not be going back for quite some time.
Whoever owns this place, what the heck is the deal? I have giveb this location multiple attempts. Food is not even kfc. Rubbery hard stuff, what's the kitchen doing? Bad training? Its been months. Drive thru seems like a joke. If you need to park and go inside and hassle them, that's not a drive thru. Some sort of sorry time waste.. Everyone in Elgin must know, by now, don't eat here. Want chicken? -need to drive to Manor or go to the Golden chick here down the road. Please go out of business already so we can get a competent restaurant here.
Back in the day I used to remember buying the fish and shrimp and it came in a big box with lots of fries and a large piece of fish. Half of my shrimp seemed like they were uncooked because the batter was really soft and had a funky taste. They also didnt want to take my coupon although Im pretty sure it was valid for the purchase ( I read it pretty good)
Ordered food in the drive thru, 2 famous bowls and 2 chicken littles. Paid. No receipt given. Drinks were handed over, no straws given. Was asked to pull up behind car in front of me. After 10 min there were 6 of us waiting for food that had been asked to pull foward to get off their sensor, the 7th truck was asked to pull up behind the car wash. 15 min in, the truck behind me received their large bags of food. 20 min in to this the car in front of me got their food, single bag of food. Took our food 25 min. Had to ask the employee to go back for straws, checked our order, had to have the employee go back again for forks too, still no receipt, no apologies for the wait or reason for the delay. Disappointed.
If there was an option for a 0 I'd give it. I wish we would of read the reviews before coming here. Seeing as this is a chain restaurant I really didn't think it was necessary to be concerned but of course I was wrong! Horrible service, waited about 30 min for our food if not longer! It came out hard like it has been sitting around all day. What a waste of $30. Needs new workers for sure, they were all concerned about talking to each other and sitting at the tables.
So unorganized. Disappointing my son goes there for 2 separate orders through the drive thru and they forget to prepare the first order but complete the second. Really?!?! No one answers the phone. Poor leadership in owners and management, employees in customer service is very poor as well. Please get it together Long John Silver. Your food is good but damn...service sucks!!! I hope we have a better experience next time.
I nicely asked the lady to please make sure the shrimp was fresh bc the last time the shrimp was not fresh. She acted like she didn't hear me, the 12 pieces of shrimp we ordered were not fresh but they weren't as bad as last time. In addition my chicken little sandwich was un edable bc the bread was hard and the chicken was old. On the plus side my daughter enjoyed her chicken breast.
If I could give less than one star I would. Shame on me for expecting better quality from a gas station restaurant. Everything tasted like it was fried in old oil, and left a foul after taste in our mouths. I tried the chicken from KFC at the same location and had the exact same result, meaning they must fry everything in the same oil. My next review will be on the corporate site, since the local management apparently doesn't care enough to provide better quality. Do yourself a favor and keep driving.
A couple of visits now in the last 3 to 4 weeks, last one just now 5:45pm 7-7-20! The hush puppy’s were hard as rocks! Chicken planks like they had been in the warmer for at least 4 hours, also hard as rocks! Cold slaw was hot, gross! Fish, fish was ehh, also under lights to long! On the good side the tater sauce was the best part of the whole meal! Pandemic, no pandemic, I pay you for fresh made food, not lunches left overs! Show some pride LJS! 😡😡😡

Worst experience ever. Food was nasty. We went through the drive thru, had to park and wait 20 minutes for 2 meals. The fruit punch was extremely watered down, and when we asked for water instead the just dumped out the fruit punch and added water to the cup without rinsing the cup out and NO ICE ADDED! Needless to say I won't be back to this location, they make Long John Sliver's look bad.
That was the worst dine in experience I've had in a long time. Yall got some serious problems. No wonder these two companies are dying. I am a GM in the service industry. I'd terminate the individual that helped me immediately.

A service too slow. Whenever I come they make me wait 20 or 30 minutes for my order. If you're in a hurry, don't come to eat at KFC
The manager, Christie, is unacceptable. We came and ordered two separate 10-piece buckets and we had two separate coupons. First, we came about 45 minutes before closing so we were prepared for them to possibly be out of some things. We were told we could ONLY get crispy chicken and it would be an 18-19 minute wait. Fair enough. We checked out with the first order and the cashier held up the coupon and asked if he could run the 2nd order on the same card. We said that was fine and he rung it up. Just after we pulled up to wait, we realized we were overcharged. A staff member came and delivered the wrong order to us, but we let him know about the issue with our charge. He went inside to tell the manager and came out with a message from her basically saying it was our fault and the cashier's fault for not making sure he got the 2nd coupon. I explained further that he implied the transaction was good and asked to speak with the manager to explain. He went in and came back out saying the manager wouldn't come out and all they would give us was a large fry for the inconvenience, and we still didn't get our order until 25 minutes later. On top of it all, we were charged for white and dark, which is more expensive, and they actually only gave us dark. And one entire box of chicken wasn't drained properly so the pieces were soggy with grease. This type of management is unacceptable and not customer service based whatsoever. The employees showed a better example than the manager. I don't necessarily agree that the customer is always right, but to not support your staff and ignore the customer altogether is poor leadership and poor business. And serving subpar food after having to wait for 25 minutes is even more disappointing. I wish I grabbed the name of the guy who didn't have his manager's support. He was friendly and just the messenger, but he was kind so I appreciate that.

This place needs to be shut down! No disrespect to the hard working associates who are trying despite being obviously short staffed. But clearly they have way… too much going on between both food service companies for the number of associates and would benefit from either shutting down the drive thru or dine in until they can get adequate staff. I ordered a spicy chicken meal and everything was room temperature after waiting like 10 minute for the order. Then my partner ordered the LJS bundle box and again everything was warm. We were provided no napkins and he didn’t get the fish in his meal that comes with it, when he went back to the counter he was only given one of the two that are suppose to come in it (but at least it was hot). The biggest issue for me aside from all that was the ridiculous amount of mold growing on the wall at the drink station where the lids and straws are at. I refused to use a lid and only used a straw because they’re prepackaged. There was also some mold around the hoses to the drink station. When you look up at the ceiling it is disgusting from the ventilation system which indicates the filters are probably beyond needing change and looking in the back all the electronics were covered in dust and dirt on the button system for the order expediting screen. Again I don’t blame the associates they genuinely looked to be trying but the owners should be ashamed for letting the quality of service suffer like that for the sake of running at full capacity when they are clearly short staffed. Save your money and find another location to go to because I promise you, THIS AINT IT! And everything is too high to be spending over $20 for 2 people on fast food service that is terrible!

When you look up at the ceiling it is disgusting from the ventilation system which indicates the filters are probably beyond needing change and looking in the back all the electronics were covered in dust and dirt on the button system for the order expediting screen. Again I don’t blame the associates they genuinely looked to be trying but the owners should be ashamed for letting the quality of service suffer like that for the sake of running at full capacity when they are clearly short staffed. Save your money and find another location to go to because I promise you, THIS AINT IT! And everything is too high to be spending over $20 for 2 people on fast food service that is terrible!
