My sister and I ended up here exactly one week ago - just passing through. Food was good. The young bartender/server was very patient and nice with the two ladies behind us who were obviously in a rush. Good job!

Their chicken wings are my favorite. This is the only place I've found that can get a truly crispy wing and maintain the flavor in PA. Oh and their bacon cheeseburger and grilled cheese burger are just to die for.

We had steak & eggs... The steak was a very generous portion, cooked exactly to medium rate & had a good flavor... Homefries were done perfect... Just like home! Only thing I would suggest... Get better eggs... There was no yolk to them & they really didn't have any flavor... If you can get local brown eggs it would make your breakfasts the absolute best around! Oh yeah & the "Girl Dad" server... He was pretty cool too 😉

Had some breakfast before heading out to drive hours home. It was delicious. I only order eggs, pancakes and toast but the eggs were perfect, the toast thick and the pancakes were great. It came to less then $12. If I wasn't over 4 hours away I'd be there regularly.

Just had dinner here - they’d sold out of a few things but I had a steak and honestly it was the best ‘pub/bar’ steak I’ve had in a really long time. Awesome value. Great fries too. Lovely service and a pretty nice vibe. I’ll certainly come back here.

Place may not look great on outside. But food was great had the Ryan cajun burger was great and hot. Also we got the garlic burger amazing. Had regular hot wings which was good but also got 6 wings in sweet &tangy sauce mixed with garlic butter these where great.

We had a little family birthday party at the Hitching Post and was very happy with everything. Great atmosphere, food was fantastic and reasonably priced and our waitress was the best! Will definitely go back! Highly recommend❤️

I haven't drank there in years but, i have had wings to go many times. OUTSTANDING food!!! Great service. Good prices. Truck and RV parking. Near hotels ( has their own rooms available also). Easy off and on Rt219 & rt 255. A few miles from either of the dubois exits of I-80. Good food & good times!

The Hitching Post is a well liked & longtime establishment in DuBois. Back in the day; ( 30 years ago), The "Post" was a very popular hang out. Always having a total good time. At thatvera, The "POST" OFFERED PHENOMAL LIVE BANDS FROM OUTSIDE & INSIDE PA! I DO NOT REMEMBER ANY MAJOR I ISSUES, TROUBLES FIGHTING- ETC. AS THE PLACE WAS VERY POPULAR & DREW IN PATRONS FROM A WIDE AREA.ALSO THE MANAGEMENT WAS ALSO VERY ADEPT AT Handllng any issues that cropped up. I know It was a chance to simply h a ve somewhere to go with friends, okus always, even then offered really good homestyle Goodtasting & appealing food from a meal ti breakfasts or wings always a favorite. The wings still are very delicious to this day! Wings were top tier. Great prices, good Friday night bar environment. Only negative was they were clearly overwhelmed and it took over an hour to get our food. Waitress didn't stop by to update our table on the timing, refill drinks, etc. once.

Wings are spectacular! We had an awesome waitress who could double as a lead bartender whose super willing to learn. Though we had issues with a card being charged 3 times for the same meal, the management worked with us to make sure we got our money back. Great atmosphere, awesome drinks, even better prices and they are family friendly as well!! If I could give a 6 star I would.

A local landmark for over 50 years! It's an institution, Steppenwolf AND Foghat have performed here and they continue to host live music every weekend. Woman-owned with a fantastic staff, support this local gem - you won't regret it!

Came out on Saturday night with a large group. Service was friendly, owner was engaging, the food was awesome, the music was great; not too loud so you could still talk with your party.

Lots of space, great staff, it's got an intimate atmosphere to it that's very welcoming. They serve food, they're open later than others in the region. I wish they didn't close at 9 on Sunday but it's not uncommon with bars I can't really complain. Didn't try the food but it looked good and everyone else was enjoying & it was recommended. Highly recommended.

My brother and I were traveling on our motorcycles and decided to stop at The Hitching Post for lunch. We each had an ice cold beer and a great burger. I would highly recommend this as a stop for anyone looking for a nice pub lunch.

Such a great place! The food is delicious, and the beer selection is impressive and affordable. Staff is friendly, and they are open 24 hours a day. They have several TVs and often have sports on (which I love). Four pool tables are available, and great music. They only accept cash though, so make sure you are prepared.

Casey, our server/bartender really showed out. Her energy, her smile and her conversation was everything for our first night in Du Bois- coming from Colorado! We came for Phil and left thinking about Casey!😂 She was sooo sweet. Made sure our food came within a timely manner while also making sure our drinks were full. She made great conversation and we ended up bonding over our love for MGK! Our first time seeing Punx Phil and it was a time to remember. Thank you Casey, and the hitching post for a time to remember!

Casey was beyond amazing. We came in 2/1 and she was scheduled by herself on ground hogs day weekend and she held her own! Everyone was attended to. Everyone had a drink. And more importantly she had a smile on her face! She kept herself calm, cool and collected. We were very impressed with her composure. Big kudos to her and the kitchen for holding it down while it was so busy! Any place would be lucky to have all of them!

This was our first time here. We were so happy with the waitress. She was prompt, very respectful of making sure we knew what we were ordering. Very courteous. The atmosphere was very country. If ya wanted to play some pool, there's enough tables to go around. The flat wings were done way better than the ones we get around our hometown. They were crispy, with no slimmy skin. The flavor of the butter and garlic was mouth watering. The other flavor we tried was the,I wanna say, sweet and spicy. It had just the right amount of heat. Not over bearing but enough to eat all dozen. We will definitely be stopping again on our way through. She was even nice enough to let us know that there were 2 dozen left because we wanted some to bring back home. That was great service!

We were there about 6 pm and it was pretty empty. We did sit for a while before acknowledgement. The waiter was good, little slow but he may have been the only one not sure. We got the pub fries which I don't see on their online menu but it has been a month or two since we were there! I got the Italian chicken sandwich it was great! My husband got a burger, I can't remember what kind but he said he really liked it! In my opinion it is a nice pub with a separate dining area! Best of both worlds! I will be going back!

Nice place, nothing fancy but good food and clean. It's cash only, which I didn't realize until I got there, but I'm new to the area. I didn't see one, but recommend they get an ATM. Great entertainment when Kurt Thomas is there. They should advertise their weekly entertainment though.

I had wings(don't remember which sauce- it was recommended as their top fav, but I didn't care for it) n fries...fries were delicious- wings, just ok, based on flavor n personal taste. Bartender, Joel, was a sweetheart- very friendly n kind...He even offered to give me a personal tour of Dubois since I was here on my 1st ever visit to the area n was inquiring on things. Great hometown bar atmosphere n the food must be really good cuz the stayed steady busy on the other side in the dining room even as late as it got while I was there.... that says a lot to me(especially considering I didn't care for my wings flavor). Would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. :)

Service was very friendly & helpful. The ambiance was decent for a bar and there were plenty of pool tables. The food here is modest but relatively cheap: a good place to catch a bite to eat but not so much "go out for dinner" (I was expecting something a little nicer after viewing the menu online). Be advised there is a $2 fee for paying with a card.

It's your typical bar but that's what we like. Makes for a more relaxed atmosphere.

This place was kept basically the same since the doors opened in 1971. Personally I think that's awesome. The staff are very nice and perfectly attentive. They're there when you need them but not bothering you when your mouth is full of food. Iykyk. There wasn't a drink they didn't know how to make and the food was better than expected. Great atmosphere in my opinion.

A sort of cute dive-y bar, in the hip way, with several pool tables and a shuffle board for entertainment. Overall, the food was pretty standard to slightly above average bar food. The fries were definitely good and crispy! A few of complaints though. 1. They were out of quite a few things on the menu that we were excited about (wings, ribs, crab legs). But, it’s covid-so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a distributor issue. 2. The menu online, which you are directed to when you sit down, do not reflect the prices charged. My steak dinner was $1 more, and we saw a $1 up charge for fries with the sandwich that surprised us. 3. There is a $2 credit card fee. WOW, just WOW. I’ve never seen anything like that. And, they use Square, which is a very affordable credit card processing company as compared to traditional credit card processors, where you typically see up charges of $.50 or around that for credit transactions under a certain amount. In summary, while we only paid $4 more than we expected, which isn’t much I suppose, it was a surprise and it left us in a sour state upon departure. I’m not sure we would return in the near future. I really wanted to be excited about this place as it said it was a “woman led” business on google, and I want to support my fellow women, but please address the issues outlined above. Thank you.

Came for lunch. Ordered the fried Fish meal. Came with Cole slaw and French fries. Waitress was attentive. Looks like the evenings are their busy times. Not spectacular but not bad.

I usually would give this place a great review based on most of the servers. Kayla is the best waitress/bartender. They hired a new person Bri-beware she is the worst waitress/bartender ever. She just ignores you and then apologizes for the delay. In the meantime she is talk twitch her baby daddy or going out for a smoke. Having grown up in small-town PA, the Hitching Post felt like nostalgia. I'm guessing it has never been remodeled, but that was fine by me :-) The service was also a treat. Nothing in particular stood out because it all was very good. On the down side, the entrance is cramped and dark, making it a bit confusing for first-time visitors. No one offered to help us, so we just stood there until we heard children's voices leading us to the dining area on the right. Also, they are a cash-only establishment. This alone is a negative, but to make it worse, I didn't notice any signs staying this until after we had taken a seat. For a stop right off the interstate, this seems like an unnecessary hassle. Finally, the food was better than expected, meaning I wasn't hoping for much, but it all seemed to be processed/prepackaged. My fish sandwich was more breading than fish and slightly burnt. If you're in the area, go ahead and stop here, but I'd never recommend going out of your way to eat here.

Nice little bar/restaurant that stay open 24 hrs. (Bar till 2am) wings were great. They don't know a lot of mixed drink options outside of the usual drinks though. The prices for the mixed drinks didn't match the experience or establishment. They were a little higher than most places.

Older type bar, chairs mismatched, decor iffy. Food was fairly decent. Waitress was pleasant but inefficient: one of our group ordered beer and water, waitress never brought, after 10 minutes her husband went to bar; silverware was only given to some of us, after asking; checks were incorrect, sometimes twice; 2 orders not placed with others; missing sides. Her attire needed addressed too, the shirt she had on was inappropriate even for this older establishment.

Wings are amazing at the hitching post. The air conditioning needs addressed. Very warm and most people enjoy eating in air conditioning which this place does not have.

Everything is mid level. We waited for almost a hour to get the foods.

It's a little pricey for the apps and not much quantity or quality. Decent food, but not great for the price. Men's restroom does not have a lock.

Staff was friendly. Food was above average for sure. I ordered the fried pickles. 4 spears for $5.50…which seems expensive to me. Pickles were good, lightly breaded. Ordered The Godfather for my entree, it was good. Might as well get the 14” for only $3 more. The reason I give this place 3 stars instead of 4 is there is no lock on the bathroom. It’s a one person men’s and women’s room, each have their own but no privacy whatsoever. You can’t lock the door. I tried, I looked but maybe I’m missing something. If you need to take a #2, someone can easily just walk in and they wouldn’t know. If you aren’t going to have a way to lock the door, at least put a sign on the door that’s says “Please knock”. Can’t imagine how embarrassing it would be for both people to walk in on that.

Bad choice on taking someone's recommendation of this place. $14 for a dozen too well done wings with a small container of BBQ sauce on the side since the server , for whatever reason, said they can't toss the wings in the BBQ sauce. A grilled Buffalo chicken salad with what appeared to be a diced half breast on a skimpy bed of lettuce with diced green peppers. One and done

My girlfriends and I went here for drinks, fortunately nothing was wrong with them, but what was wrong was the service. The waitress basically neglected us. We drank our first set of drinks and we waited for about 10 minutes and she never came to the table. So we went up to the bar where she proceeded to tell us she’d be right with us, 15 minutes later and no drinks. So we decided to leave and go to another bar. On the way out, the same waitress was outside having a smoke break with a few others. We overheard her mentioning how dead the bar was and that if it continued being dead she was going to go home early. If they were so dead, why did it take her so long to take care of us? I just didn’t understand.

Ordered the Sundowner with a basket of fries. Fries were good not great.....the burger however was the worst burger I have had in decades, and I spent 20 years eating burgers in the military. It was like the cook took a frozen small burger patty and threw it on the grill. Dried out to the point of no return. The egg was fried not sunny side up and the bean sauce minimal. Terrible place to eat unless you are hammered and it's 2am. Waitress did a great job. 4% surcharge on the bill is a bit greedy for the way below standard food. Will not return.

Before coming to this place, I checked out the website to make sure that I could eat there with a friend since we were under 21. First, we were sure of where the entrance was. Upon entering we for a family with a baby and a little boy eating food. Assuming that we were allowed to be in there we sat down. The waitress came over and ask us what we wanted to drink. We both order waters and she asked to see ID. We told her we were under age and said no. We though is was since we sat of the bar side and one of the tables. So we moved to the other side and sat down. Then she came over really mad and told us that we weren’t allowed in there at all. As we left, I looked for any signs anywhere that stated that we had to be 21+. Overall, I should’ve check the reviews before going to see that other were unclear about the age limit. Now seeing that many other people had rude experiences with the waitress and were also unaware of the house rule that one person needs to be 21+, I have no intentions of ever going there.

The website menu clearly states that take out wings was $4.50 for half a dozen. I ordered over the phone they told me it would be 8.75. i figured they misheard me and I just decided ill eat a dozen wings thats not a problem. When I get there I am given half a dozen wings, I clarified the amount and they told me half a dozen wings were 8.75 plus 2 dollars for using a credit card. I explained to them that their website says the wings are priced differently. They apologized and were very nice however they did not even try to make the situation right by giving me the wings at the price shown on their website. I am currently trying to find the best wings in DuBois and I will say this. 6 wings from this place is not $10.00 good. in fact they are very low on my list. not the worst wings they were good but as far as price goes, there are way better wings for a better value.

Very terrible experience here. Bartender was horrible and not personable at all. She treated us terribly and when we we informed her that she gave us the wrong drink she refused to correct it. I hate to accuse anyone, but she definitely was on some kind of drug. We came in for one drink to enjoy the band and left very shortly after. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

This was the worst place to eat food, it took forever, service was bad other tables got all there food first after we ordered, the food was horrible, who sells a burger without fries for 8.50, ordered a double BBQ burger and it was over cooked and more like 1 1/2 burgers, and we didn't even get all our food together. Patty melt doesn't come with grilled onions, since when. And the bread was hard and stale. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. hoped by reviews but a huge let down.

Do not go here if you are wanting your food fast, took an hour for us to get our food. Seems like there needs to be some more cooks, food was good but it took way too long to get our food. Food was good, just wish I didn't have to wait that long. Weren't even that busy.

I went in with a group of 5 people a few days ago. It was 15-20 minutes before we were told that we have to pull up menus on our phone & the cell service wasn’t that great so it took forever to load. About 30 minutes after getting there, our order was finally taken and we waited a full hour and a half before our food came & the place wasn’t even that busy. Our steaks were more raw than ordered & one of the waiters had a cigarette placed on his ear, not very sanitary. I’m sure this is typically a nice place to eat but this experience was not pleasant. I probably won’t be back.

Used to be the best restaurant around for chicken wings. Probably still is. What is so disappointing is I can't go in a n d order by telling the waitress. Now you order off your phone and thet bring it to your table. I walked out because it felt industrialized. Where is the warmth. Why would people want to look at a phone at a menu. What Bout people who don't have a phone. How does the bar drinkers see the menu after a few drinks. Wish they would change ordering back to ordering in person.

Worst place I've ever eaten at. No fries or anything else served with burgers. Find another place if you want a good cup of coffee. You do not get the amount of food for the money. They also do not have locks on restrooms. Allowing others to enter when occupied.

The most disappointing experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The server was nice, however; the management was completely unprofessional. There was no signage that says you have to be 21 to eat at there even if your not at the bar, nor does it say it anywhere on the website. The waitress tried to compromise with us in the beginning and we said we would leave if that's their policy. She was going to check with management and get back to us, after sitting there for 20 minutes a guy behind the bar yelled at the waitress and the at us to leave immediately. He also had the nerve to demand us to pay the bill even though we never recieved the food.

The restaurant itself seemed very nice and our waitress was amazing but after we sat down and ordered our food the bartender (who welcomed us in) asked our waitress if any of us were 21 which we are not, we are all 18, but apparently there is a 'house rule' that is posted nowhere in or outside of the restaurant that claims at least one person in a group must be 21 to dine there. So our waitress apologized to us and explained she knew nothing about it as she was new and she said she was going to see if we were allowed to stay since we already ordered our food. A few moments later a man came up to our waitress and loudly expressed that if we are not 21 we HAD to leave, the way he spoke to our waitress was disgusting as she didn't know and then as we were leaving he exclaimed we needed to pay for our food which we never received! Overall we are all very upset and think that 'rule' should be posted and that man needs a lession in professionalism. For our waitress, she was amazing and deserved to be treated much better than she was.

Well, my “salad” had old lettuce, mushrooms, and oh yeah mushed up soggy old bread!!! 🤢(like not supposed to be there) - Side salad is $5.25 Oil and vinegar was distilled white vinegar… My husband had the roast beef and the gravy tasted old with floating old bits in it. My steak “medium well” was rare and a piece of flank. To say the least, we paid and left and won’t be returning. Oh and there’s a 4% credit card fee too 🤔

I would give it no stars if that was possible. I am a manager at a restaurant so I know how it goes. This place is terrible with the service. The waitress was so rude and nasty with my husband and I tonight 9/18/17. She was a horrible server never kept up with our drinks didn't provide us with silver wear, menus, or napkins. Then they messed our order up and when we told her, she laughed at us and told my husband that it was alright then walked away. She never bothered to offer to fix it or anything. We told another woman the problem and she never offered to fix it o5 apologized or anything. We never got refills then we waited 20 minutes for our bill after she took away all of our dishes including our drink cups. When sh3 came back with the bill there was no compensation for them messing up our order and when my husband asked why they didn't give us a discount or anything she gave is a nasty look and got rude with us and said no we don't give discounts for messed up orders and walked away. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant. We won't ever be back. This was somewhere around the 10th time we had been there in a 3 month period we were really liking the place but this gas turned us off. No longer will we be spending a 100 dollars a visit on food and drinks. Absolutely awful. Don't waste your time.

This was an awful experience. My friends and I are all 18 and we assumed we could just sit in the dining area because we weren't going so buy alcohol. About fifteen minutes in, we had already ordered our food, the bartender (who saw us walk in and take out money from the ATM) asked our waitress if we were 21. To which she responded by asking us. There apparently was a "house rule" that at least one person in each group had to be 21. The rule was posted no where to be seen. They didn't kick us out, our waitress was going to let us eat. About 10 minutes later, a man came out, yelled at our waitress, asking if any of us kids were 21. After hardly getting a response, he told her we needed to leave. She asked if we wanted to get our food packed up, we instantly told her no. He then proceeded to ask if we were going to pay for our food, which we never received. To the owner, house rules should be posted in sight if you have them. To the waitress, no one should be treated the way they treated you for their lack of management. Find a place that's worth being at.

Got denied breakfast with my girlfriend because she didnt have ID. We didnt even get to order she immediately asked for ID and I said we werent drinking and that its 9am im here for breakfast she rudely said it doesnt matter and she cant serve us food if she doesnt have ID to prove shes 21.

Took forever to get our food then everything was awful. Honestly don’t even know how to describe it. The tea tasted like it was made in an ashtray.

Stopped here while staying in town to play some pool and have a couple drinks. Bartender (blonde) is horrible and rude. It took 10 mins to even get her attention for the first drink, we were there 3 hours and had 3-4 drinks each, the bartender seemed drunk or on some kind of drugs, we were then cut off after asking for our last drink. We were not drunk or anything, she was very rude as we told her that we were walking and not driving. We told her that we didn’t want the last drink then and not to worry about it, she proceeded to tell me that I needed to throw away the drink that I had been sipping on for an hour. I let her know that I was finishing the drink that I paid for and would be leaving. I finished my drink and walked out and another bartender then ran out after us screaming at us saying we couldn’t take drinks with us(which we didn’t) I would not recommend this place to anyone. The bartenders are the rudest out of anywhere I’ve ever been, very unprofessional and the ladies room smelled horrible and was out of toilet paper. When told there was no toilet paper she rolled her eyes and never brought any. This place definitely needs new employees, the ones they have are running away business

After a long day of driving, and arriving at our hotel, my daughter and I came here for dinner, on the recommendation of the hotel staff. When we sat, the waitress asked for my daughter’s ID. I told the waitress that she didn’t need it because we’re only there for dinner. She is over 21, but it didn’t matter since we weren’t there for drinks. The website says “We are a family owned and operated bar and restaurant that was established in 1971.” However the waitress wouldn’t serve us and threw us out. Very sad that a “restaurant” would discriminate against patrons that weren’t there to drink.

This was our first, and last visit to this establishment. We had heard great things about their wings so thought we'd give it a try for dinner. While our server was polite, From the time we got our drinks it was 25 minutes before she returned to take our order. Granted, she was The ONLY server and it was slightly busy. We placed a modest order, and waited, and waited and waited. My wings finally came to the table about 30 minutes later. My wife's burger did not arrive for another 20 minutes. We had ordered onion rings as an appetizer and they were brought out with the meal and were so greasy, there were basically inedible. The same was true for her French fries. Including the top, we spent 50 dollars, but the almost 3 hours we were there means I would not ever recommend this restaurant/bar.

My husband has been going there for 34 years there signature burger (sundowner) is a lot smaller & isn't the same, wings had no taste, the Godfather was missing ingredients like dressing & onions and was put together backwards, it will be a long time before we go back if we every do,.
