Nestled in a neighborhood this out of the way dining experience will leave you wanting more. I tried the brick oven fired Cornish game hen, we shared a bite of the Mac n cheese (we ordered way too much food) a side of the greens (chard, kale & collard) and I can’t even remember what my partner got because I was focused on my plate. We walked in no reservations but they were able to squeeze us in at the bar in front of the brick oven. It was great to be able to watch the food prep and how cohesive the kitchen was. The kid operating the pizza part of the oven never stopped and how he wasn’t sweating at two feet away I’ll never know. We were about 8’ at the bar and I could feel it on my face. I would suggest making a reservation as they get booked up pretty fast, their sister dining area 2 Doors Down has room too, we’ve dined there too. Great service, amazing 5star food, nice wine selection and the kitchen is killin’ it with their chef skills. This is a must try in Eureka.
This place was awesome very good food, however you really should make a reservation as they fill up quickly.
This has become our favorite date night restaurant in the area. Really nice yet comfortable and casual, they play fun music. Service is great, food is unique and thoughtful. My boyfriend said “that might be the best pizza I’ve ever had”. Price is very reasonable for the quality. Great gluten free options too!
Really enjoyed my recent visit here. The Mediterranean inspired menu has a rustic charm, and the food was flavorful and clearly made with care. The mushroom cobbler was a standout, and the wood fired pizza was excellent. They also have a great wine selection with plenty of options by the glass, plus solid local beers on tap.
Amazing place for a date! It’s important to do a reservation to make sure you get a seat. The place is fully packed. Great vibes and amazing view of the stove fire for the pizza. The food tastes heavenly, definitely would love to go here again. My wife and I had so much food to eat. Perhaps my only concern is the dimly lit neighborhood, but that’s not really something they can control.
Brick and fire is a cute and quaint local restaurant. Its probably the smallest restaurant I have ever been in, but thats what makes this place cool. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, you would never guess this is one of the best restaurants in Humboldt. I love their brick fire pizza and wine. But many dishes are good! Small menu and delicious meals. Great wine selection. Don't try to walk in, make a reservation for this restaurant. Great for small groups or pairs of two. Dinner only. Enjoy!
Had an amazing meal at Brick & Fire Bistro. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The stuffed calamari was hands down the best I’ve ever had, and the mushroom cobbler lived up to all the hype. The salad with peaches and strawberries was refreshing and sweet, and the salmon was cooked perfectly, paired with a unique nutty rice. The crème brûlée was a little on the sweeter side but still delicious, and the truffle chocolate to go stayed beautifully presented and paired wonderfully with strawberries. Service was excellent as well. Our server even managed to get my phone back to me after I accidentally left it behind, which was a huge help, especially on a busy night.
Absolutely incredible meal from start to finish. The mushroom cobbler and brussels sprouts were perfect starters—deeply flavorful, beautifully cooked, and a strong opening that set the tone for everything that followed. The polenta lasagna was rich and comforting, with a smooth, hearty texture and bold flavors. The margherita pizza was spot on: crisp crust, bright tomato, fresh basil, and just the right balance of cheese. Every dish was thoughtful, satisfying, and executed flawlessly. Truly, everything was too good.
We managed to book a table in the wine bar side 2 doors down, which has the same menu. Great choice of wines and gluten free options are good. We had a cheese board with lovely gf crackers and gf pizzas which were really tasty. Very friendly waiting staff. Service felt a little rushed as main course arrived very quickly after starters away. Reasonable value. Would definitely return.
Had the rock fish with rice and it was absolutely delicious. Melt in your mouth fish! My friends had the pizza and said their food was equally as good. The tomato bisque is amazing and the grilled ceasar is too. Staff here is kind and accommodating. The wine selection was great as well. Will be coming back!
Brick and Fire is by far the best restaurant in Humboldt County. Every time we have an occasion to celebrate or are looking for a place to have a stellar evening this is our spot. Their seasonal menu constantly supplies new dishes to try, while keeping favorites on the menu. Allison was our server and she provided the best service, attentive and warm providing an excellent atmosphere for our dinner. Some of our favorites include the grilled Cesar, their oysters are my favorite in Humboldt with the most delicious butter/white wine sauce. The Brick Bird is also a favorite! On Thursday we got the Pork Chops and Baby Kale Winter Salad - both paired beautifully and were insanely delectable. Their selection of wine is also fab. We finished off the night with the Chocolate mascarpone cheesecake - I will never leave there without it! Thank you for providing Humboldt with such top tier food and service!
Small, cute, great service and the food sLaPs! We split the Mushroom Cobbler, Roasted Butternut Squash Salad, and a pizza. We were SUPER full but got the Pumpkin Crème Brûlée because we knew it would be done right given how everything else was perfection. We were right. Make a reservation!
We loved this place so much, we came back the next night! We had the Brick Bird, the rockfish, and the sausage pizza. All superb. The grilled calamari was excellent and so was the seasonal salad. Best of all was the green bean side with mushroom topping. Yum. Make reservations!
I can’t remember the last time I was so impressed by a restaurant! And I liked that we needed to call in for reservations. It’s romantic. The veggie and polenta lasagna dish was downright spectacular. And even the salmon entree was great. The sauces they paired it with make so much sense and it gives me ambitions for making this kind of thing at home. They are doing something special.
Absolutely perfect!!! Everything we ordered was so delicious. The stuffed calamari is the best calamari I’ve ever had in my life. A must try if you like calamari. Mushroom cobbler is really good as everyone recommends. The salad is refreshing and peaches and strawberries in the salad are very juicy and sweet. The salmon is cooked to perfection, and the rice is very unique with nuts and goes well with the salmon. The crème brûlée is on the sweeter side but still good. I like that the sugar is warm and the brûlée is cold. We also ordered a truffle chocolate to go and were please to find that it was still beautifully presented and paired with strawberries. On top of the great food, the service here is impeccable, too. I accidentally left my phone in the restaurant, and our server caught us up with my phone after we already left the restaurant for a few minutes. It was a life saver and we really appreciate it especially when the restaurant was very busy.
The Brick & Fire Bistro sure was a great decision, everything about the place stood out. The service was impeccable, from the moment you walked in you were treated like family, only without the drama! The food was Spectacular, I ordered off menu, a Peasant's meal by any standard, and what I got was simply Amazing! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
We lucked out and found this amazing restaurant while passing through Eureka for the night. It was a Friday night and the restaurant looked busy. We were welcomed and waved in (like we were locals)and were seated at a cozy place at the bar. Within minutes we had our drinks and a wonderful basket of bread. Our entrees Sockeye salmon and polenta lasagna were so flavorful and uniquely plated. As we watched all of the other food coming out of the oven, we wished we could come back for another meal! Don’t miss this place!! Thank you for such a memorable meal!
We are on vacation from the East Coast and found this AMAZING restaurant by word of mouth from local residents. Simply put, a treasure! We sat at the bar and witnessed a true performance in grace and excellence. The balance and skill of the wait staff and the kitchen team can only be described as they were in a State of Flow! The outcome? The food was perfect the experience was perfect! We are still in the area and will return!!! Cheers and thank you for the wonderful evening, Team Brick & Fire! John and Carol
We were just passing through and thought we had a reservation. I’d left a voicemail but never got a call back, so we assumed we were good to go. When we arrived, my wife was told that if no one confirmed, then there wasn’t actually a reservation. That’s when I went in and met Darlene (pretty sure she’s the manager)—and she was incredible. She found us two spots at the bar, and honestly, they were probably the best seats in the whole place which we call the “Chef’s table”. We had a perfect view of the kitchen and got to watch the team craft these amazing dishes right in front of us. It felt like dinner and a show. They started us off with a mushroom cobbler appetizer that was absolutely next-level. Then we had brick oven pizza that was out of this world. On top of that, the service was full of joy and good energy—it just felt like everyone genuinely loved being there. The whole spot has this cozy, neighborhood vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been coming there for years, even if it’s your first time. We left so happy and are already planning to come back with our boys (and yes—we’ll definitely make a reservation next time!). Big thanks to Darlene and the whole crew. This place is a total gem. Don’t miss it!
Only my first visit here. I rarely come to Eureka but will definitely go back to Brick & Fire Bistro. We had a group of 9 on a Saturday night and they made room for us. Lucky? Maybe, it was a 5:45 so on the early side. Anyhow not only accommodating but great service as well. I had the calamari which was not a pile of fried squid. Small tubes stuffed with a shrimp mix and pan seared. Sauce was delicious. I also had the steelhead which was moist and well prepared. They have good wine as well but I had beer instead, Henhouse.
Fantastic food and warm, genuine service meet to create a solid experience. Loved the inventive menu and we loved how many vegetarian options were on the menu in addition to meat entrees. My gripe: it’s 2025 and you don’t exist for many unless you’re on Open Table or a similar platform. We never would have come here without my friend insisting that we check it out. Having to call in MULTIPLE times to ask for a reservation already is another speed bump to coming here. Don’t make your guests work so hard. Additionally- the lighting was so harsh. Let’s spend a few bucks on warm, dimmable lights. You guys have a cute/ funky spot. Let’s not kill the vibe with blue lighting.
For what we tried this place does serve up some tasty food. My fish was cooked perfectly. The complimentary bread was delicious and fluffy. This place is really small though and my husband being exceptionally tall didn't seem to be as comfortable. The tables are close together so you'll be able to see what your neighbor table is eating and talking about. A little awkward if you want to use the restroom since you have to walk through the kitchen and people are cooking on both sides of you. When the weather is nicer maybe we'll try to sit outside.
I’ll post this for two places: Brick & Fire and 2 Doors Down Reservation: I would recommend calling before your visit, just to make sure you got a table for you and your family/friends. The restaurant is not huge but cozy and nice for quality time. Reservation was easy and they are very responsive to phone calls. The website I hope they improve it in the future. Food: we are Vegetarian-Pescatarian so we do not no have meat experience. The food was fine, we enjoyed the variety of flavors we got, and I would say this is a mixed cuisine - Italian, Spanish or Mediterranean. I would describe it as Tuscan cuisine but this is only my interpretation from the food presentation. One dish we did not like was the Wild Mushroom Cobbler - was not really what we expected. Did not like it so much, juts personal taste. For drinks, they had nonalcoholic beverages so we got the house made ginger ale and black cherry soda. The ginger ale had a flat flavor in my opinion for a ginger ale. The restaurant was fully booked for the hour we wanted to visit so we were seated at their 2 Doors Down as they are an extension of each other. (For the service and ambiance I’ll post at the 2 Doors Down)
We treat ourselves here normally and we’re stoked when we moved only a few blocks away so close we can walk recently. The ambiance is always tight, cute, and fun. However the food this time took a dive. I’m okay with the loudness and being close in contact to other tables as they dine but I’m paying for the food and wine truly. The wine selection I love. But this is twice now I ordered the Cornish hen and it was just charred both times with extra sauce in place to hid it. The burnt taste was so powerful there was no hiding it. However my partner’s rockfish was amazing. Server was a young man that was rushing around so he offered another dish which was nice. I opted out as my partner was already done with his meal. I would say stay away from that particular dish.
Hahaha. crazy that Google wants me to write this review. I haven't been here in more than 10 years. not since the owner kicked us out for taking too long to eat. weird, since it took more than 45 minutes to deliver 3 pizzas, 1 Coq Co vin, 1 lasagna, and 1 steak to the table. we had made a reservation for 7 people. we asked if we could have a 6 pm reservation but they told us they only take 5 pm reservations? and then told us the people who's 6 pm reservation were waiting for our table... maybe things are better managed now. they seem to still be open. Insulting is the word that comes to mind.
