Avis sur Uncle Julio’s Fort Worth
Tonight me and my husband went to the bar and had the best experience, the bartender Amber, she made our experience the best one. She was very attentive to our dinning experience here. She had such a kind fun spirit, was very respectful and was always around when we needed. The food was AMAZING the chefs in the back did a good job tonight. Thank you for this wonderful experience for dinner. Unforgettable!
🔥🔥🔥🔥 Our server Dora was amazing! They were very patient in waiting for our whole party to arrive and were very attentive 😊 10/10 RECOMMEND 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Olga is the very best server we ever had… When we go, we always have her… She is amazing…
We had an amazing experience at Uncle Julio’s! The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Our server, John West, went above and beyond to make our visit special—he was attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and everything came out perfectly. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend Uncle Julio’s to anyone looking for great Mexican food and excellent service!
Best Happy Hour in Fort Worth. I cant wait until the remodel is complete, missing my ceviche and 1/2 priced reverse swirls!
Absolutely fantastic experience! Makayla was perhaps the most attentive, friendly, and helpful waitress we have ever had, and we were very happy with her suggestions! We had the white queso, guadalajara, and I forget the name of the ice cream dessert. Each course just got better! We ended up sitting silence for most of the meal because we were enjoying the journey of each bite. (side note, the Mexican butter on the fajitas was absolutely amazing) This was our first visit and we will definitely be going again!
Another amazing experience at Uncle Julio’s. Alyssa was our server and she did an amazing job! Despite it being a packed Sunday night before the 2024 Eclipse, she made sure to be personable and tend to our needs throughout our meal. My grandma loves to come to this location when she visits from Florida, and she never leaves disappointed. My family and I got a few signature cocktails such as the Margarita of the Month - the Blood Orange, a strawberry frozen margarita, and the El Jefe. All of the drinks were so smooth and tasty, even if the wait for them was a bit long with the high volume. After trying a bit of everyone’s meal I came to the conclusion that Uncle Julio’s simply cannot make bad food, and this will be a place we return in the future for more Quesa-Birria and hot and sizzling fajitas. A special thanks to Alyssa for making my brother’s birthday dinner extra special.
We’ve been coming here for years and it really never disappoints. It’s a loud restaurant which is great when you have young kiddos. Staff is always friendly and accommodating, food is perfect and the drinks are awesome. A little on the high side price wise but for what you get, it’s worth it. Highly recommend reservations!
It had been awhile since we had been to Uncle Julio's (we used to eat there so often we needed a change), but recently went there for my wife's B-Day, and a second time since. I had to give them 5 Stars for both these visits! Food was excellent, wait staff was prompt, both times we had a manager (or two) check on our food and how things were. Great experience both times, and we'll be back again very soon! Prices are a little higher, but they've well made up for it with the all around quality and great food!
Letti was our server & she was the absolute BEST! So sweet and caring and made sure we were taken care of! 10/10 🥰
Visit this place often. It's always a great experience. Food and people are wonderful. Go see em!
Met a friend for drinks & apps @uncle Julio’s today. Fabulous service, friendly staff, a great time overall! 10/10 Lexi & Arely are the best!
Established in 1989, it didn’t take long for this location to become a Fort Worth favorite. Our Made-From-Scratch recipes and fresh ingredients even earned us the Fort Worth Star Telegram award for Best Mexican Food in Tarrant County. Minutes from downtown Fort Worth, the Stockyards and TCU, this Uncle Julio’s attracts locals, rodeo fans, and anyone who loves fresh flavors from miles around.
If you have not been to this Uncle Julius please take a moment to read our review of this location. I was so busy I could not take the time to take some photos of a perfect early dinner late lunch for us. My shot gun rider was with me when it was decided we would do Uncle Julius original location on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth !! This has always been the absolute best our store manager who was on duty was Victor! Our server was Olga it took me a hour to realize how perfect she made our experience only after leaving and reflecting on what happened in this busy day. We were starving!! I bet it was only 10 to 20 minutes before our order was on the table hot and visibly appealing, every detail was accurate Olga was great! She understood exactly what our needs were, and listened to instructions and followed them to a T, she was a pro! We ordered shrimp enchiladas she informed us exactly what was available and what the meal came with. For dessert chocolate churro cake was ordered, Olga left the choice to us the customer, this was a great way to suggest the options at least in my opinion. She also still heard a what amount of tea I wanted right before we left and brought it exactly as I ask no ice and only half. She missed nothing! We visited with Victor the store manager about our experience all the staff was pleasant and Victor is a great people person. We told him how great his location has always been! You got to try this place very pleasant easy to work with. I am ask what we do and really wanted to share with our server Olga but previous engagements didn't allow the extra time however if it had not been for our wonderful speedy decisive service we would not have had time for dessert! Thanks to Olga she's a pro. And Victor the manager for allowing the freedom to his servers. Everyone seemed happy this reflected well on management. This place is the best! Not my first rodeo at Uncle Julios Camp Bowie but over time remains consistent.
Ashley made our birthday 🎂 party phenomenal and was super attentive. The food as always was the best any place. Uncle Julio's always knocks it out of the park! Thanks again!
Good food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere. The service was friendly and everything came out quickly. I’d definitely eat here again!
Visited on a Saturday for lunch with a large party of 13 adults. Sylvia was our server and she was very attentive to our needs. Food came out pretty quickly and taste was on point.
Fantastic place for lunch and a great menu, I had the steak and it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The dessert was fantastic and will definitely be coming back. The staff was also fantastic.
I went with a couple buddies to have drinks and food. It was pretty packed so the food was slow to come out, however not terrible wait. And we just enjoyed our drinks and chips and salsa while we waited. Our waitress was super nice and attentive as well. The only thing that disappointed me is I specifically chose this restaurant over another Mexican place for their sopapillas, however the waitress informed me they stopped selling them. Super unfortunate because they were delicious. I definitely petition they bring them back lol. I ended up getting a churro which was good too. Not sopapilla good, but good nonetheless. My primary meal was the fajitas and they came out great.
Everything from service to food was good! First time eating here and would definitely come back. The queso blanco is probably one of the best quesos out there. The combination enchiladas were delicious. The only note I would leave for improvement would be for the chip’s salsa as it was warm. Other than that everything was good.
For full descriptions of this dinner, go to my Instagram page. Monvil2022 This place has a great atmosphere. The food is good. They bring out free ships and salsa. Tried the habanero honey bacon wrapped shrimp and table side guacamole. Had the combination fajitas for 1 . We choose chicken and steak. Had the sangria swirl and the mango passion lemonade.
I judged this place. I didnt think it was so hot. I should have know by the amount of cars I see EVERY time I pass it on the freeway. We shared a chicken fajitas combo for 2. Im not a fan of fajitas because the meat usually takes longer to chew then the tortilla. This place has by far THE BEST fajitas I've ever had. The meat, the chicken breast was cooked slow and tender to perfection. Ive not ever had meat softer then the tortilla. All the toppings were fresh was just great. Our service was exceptional. Even other waiters that were nor ours, would drop by if they thought we needed something. I found out it was also patio seating during our meal and sat outside and dinner ended with a beautiful sunset in front of us. Very nice👌
Loved it all this is good food! This post was 7 years ago and I had to update it. Everything is still the same 7 years later every time I come to Ft. Worth this is a MUST STOP! If you’re from California this is the best and closest thing to Cali mex even though this is Texas it reminds me of home! Thank you for always treating me and my family so well when we come here. We will always keep coming here to eat! Thank you for being so hospitable with that southern hospitality!
Olga was the best server we have ever had! She was helpful, attentive and absolutely amazing at her job. We will be back! Loved it!
This is the very first place we went to celebrate our victory over pancreatic cancer. As I expected, the best food and service we've had in years. José our waiter, had a superpower. He could read minds! He was always one step ahead of us, and was bringing refills and warm tortillas right on queue. We ordered fajitas for two. We both ate a couple each and had a couple each to eat later from the same plate. The Price was a bit high for us and our budget, but the experience and celebratory memories made it well worth every penny. Thanks to the entire team for a job well done. God bless you all for feeding this cancer survivor and creating lasting memories for years to come. Amen!
We have eaten at this location for over 25 years. Our first 15 years we ate here every Sunday. They use to offer a special brunch menu every Sunday. We moved away from Weatherford for about 8 years and traveled in our RV. This week we were back in the area and wanted to eat here for our 52nd wedding anniversary. I called and spoke to Ryan (manager). I explained that we would be there on Sunday morning. He told me that totally remodeled and changed their menu. They no longer did the brunch menu. This meant that they did not offer our favorite menu item. Ryan asked if he could call me back. About 10 minutes later he called he said he talked to one of his cooks that had been there for over 25 years. He will accommodate our want for our favorite menu item. We arrived at 10:30 AM Sunday morning for a 11:00 AM reservation. Back in the day you had to arrive 30 minutes early because of the crowds. There was no one here. We met the Sunday manager (Victor). The restaurant is very nice with the remodel. Victor seated us. The gentleman (Miguel) that was the cook is now a server. He came out to speak to us. We explained he could cook the meal that we wanted with a minor difference or two. We said great. We ordered Queso and snacked on the best chips and salsa in Fort Worth. It turned out that Miguel was our sever. When he brought our meals out it was great. Miguel and some of the older employees recognized us and came by our table to chat. They said things had changed alot since COVID. The company had changed drastically. They stopped the Sunday brunch menu and dropped a lot of other menu items. They said their business has dropped off by 40% to 50%. Back before COVID this location was packed from open to close. Why is it that when a company is purchased by another company, they think they have to change everything. When you buy a company, you do it because it is successful. Sure you want to improve things, but add to the success. Not change what is working. This is a real shame. Corporate needs to go back to what was successful. We would be coming back (since we are moving back to the area). But not nearly as much as if it was the old Uncle Julio's. Never the less, Ryan, Victor and Miguel were fantastic. They went beyond accommodating us. They brought back memories for us. Thank You.
Soon as I walked in I let the wonderful crew know I was HUNGRY. They sat us right away. The wonderful lady Ashley took very good care of us. Although she got on to me for not finishing my Pechuga DE Pollo. Lol. I was saving it for later. Get on down there and get some good food.
First time at Uncle Julio’s and we had a great experience! We are visiting from out of town and someone had recommended the fajitas from Uncle Julio’s. I had the carne asada and it might be the best I’ve ever had! Staff was friendly and our server Miguel gave some of the best service I’ve had in my life, and I’m not exasperating. He was prompt and anticipated every need we had. I was genuinely pleased with our experience as good service is hard to find at any restaurant. We even met the manager, he was a young Hispanic man and I believe his name was Victor. He was very polite and made sure everything was good. Whatever ya’ll are doing here, keep it up! My family and I will definitely be back when we’re in town again. What a quality restaurant!
Uncle Julio’s was a really nice experience. The food came out hot and tasted fresh, especially the fajitas and salsa. The restaurant had a fun, energetic atmosphere, and our server Dora made sure we had everything we needed. It’s a great spot for dinner with friends or family, and I would definitely recommend it.
Just want to compliment the manager who helped to make sure my team could all sit together for their UIL State team dinner! TYLER!!! He was very accommodating and friendly. He made it work and my team enjoyed the food and time together. Shout out to Jackie and Ashley who were fantastic served and very patient and friendly with all 34 for us!
I visited the restaurant recently and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious. We ordered the Guadalajara, which I highly recommend, especially with the Mexican butter — it was outstanding. For drinks, we had the Grand Cadillac and it was excellent as well. Special thanks to our server Olga for her great recommendations and outstanding service. Thank you so much!
Amazing experience at Uncle Julio’s in Fort Worth! The service was outstanding — shoutout to Ricardo, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The food was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was fun, lively, and made the whole experience even better. We will definitely be back!
I have only dined here maybe 10 times over the last 20 years. EVERY single time I have wondered why we don't go more. The food is always fantastic, the service was excellent. *Joshua was our server* Wish we weren't moving away because we have never been disappointed stopping to eat here. The Barbacoa De(l)* Res is top notch. Still very fair prices too. Check this place out if you haven't it is worth it!
We had the crab and shrimp stuffed poblano and the crab and shrimp enchiladas. The stuffed poblano is so good that it's hard for me to choose anything else. It is pure perfection and the rich flavors keep complimenting one another all the way through. The crab and shrimp enchiladas are huge! They come with a generous portion of beans, pico and a housemade fresh side of chopped cole slaw. The fresh tortillas add amazing taste to this dish. The house guacamole is the very best in town at This location. The dip that comes with the sauce is mouthwatering with a nice smokey finish. The strawberry margaritas were perfect and the bartender is an expert. They even threw in a free chocolate covered strawberry for Mother's Day.
The service here is always fantastic! They are very conscious of any good allergies. The fajitas are amazing shrimp, check cken and beef always perfectly cooked and flavorful. We live the table side guacamole is always fun and we can get it the way we like it. The building is always loud so be aware.
Exceptional!! I grabbed dinner with some colleagues while traveling through Fort Worth and have heard great things about these joints. It did not disappoint. We started with some of the yummy, smoky salsa which is incredible and also had the fresh guacamole and cheese dip for starters. Both were very good. One of the people at the table needed gluten friendly options, and the manager was very friendly and took the time to review the best options for her. For dinner I had the chicken fajitas!! They were amazing. Cooked just right with the right amount of char and flavoring. The others at the table had the steak tacos and the combination fajitas, and they said the dishes were very good as well. Pedro provided us with great, friendly and fast service. This is a Texas institution and you need to get here soon, friend. I can’t wait to go back one day.
Food is always good I recommend the fajitas, the guacamole and also the queso and chips. This time I got enchiladas, personally prefer the fajitas but these were still good. The service is always amazing, coming here never gets old. Service was quick, food fresh and warm. Great for any type of group.
We enjoyed the food and service at Uncles Julio. The fajitas were delicious and their homemade flour tortillas were amazing. Overall the food was great but rice was a bit dry and frijoles charros tasted like chili. I totally recommend their churros! Service was outstanding and we look forward to visiting again soon.
Everything was delicious and excellent except three things, otherwise I would have given this restaurant 5 stars! 1. The classic margarita was awful. For a Mexican restaurant this should be a priority. 2. The waiter was changed mid party and created a huge delay of over 45 minutes, avoiding the entire party to eat together at once. 3. Last and foremost, my aunt noticed that majority of the menu items were spiced with pepper. So she asked the waitress if there was a substitution or some form of accomodations for people who don't eat spicy food. My aunt was told by the waitress that she recommends the Diablo shrimp but she would put notes not to add the spice! Needless to say my aunts food came out very spicy. Spicier than other plates of the same dish. After much time went by the waitress finally came over to see how everything was going. My aunt voiced her frustration about the food and that it did not come out per order (without the spice/pepper). The manager later came over and added fuel to the fire and actually made the situation worst and delayed correcting the issue. To add insult to injury recommeneded something else that can be added to the bill. Please remember this is a party of 30+ people and we had an issue with 1 order! I'm heavy on the fact that the manager needs additional training or should probably use his poor talents somewhere else in the restaurant 🤔
The food was delicious. The portions were plentiful. The service was good. Definitely a good spot and will go back.
When we arrived we stood in the doorway for quite a while before we were even acknowledged. Seems the greeter was too busy talking with staff. Once he did finally acknowledge us he wrote our name in the waiting list. When we were texted we had a table, again the guy was too busy talking with the staff and we stood again for quite sometime before we were acknowledged. Once we were handed off to our server things were much better. We had a great server and the food was very good. Overall we had a good meal and great service. They definitely need to work on the initial experience. I have never been anywhere like this where th,e greeter was so rude as not to even acknowledge the patrons when they were standing in front of them. That was a big turn off for us both. The food however was very good, as were the chips and salsa!
Solid Tex Mex food. Good place for going away parties or birthday tables. The two people in our party had salads. The fajita chicken is really, really good. Most people around us had small children in high chairs. The place accomodates families well. They always set the fajita hot plates far away from the kids' reach. Margaritas are good also.
Uncle Julio's has the BEST chips, queso, flour tortillas, and swirl margaritas of all the mexican restaurants. I've never had anything I didn't like. My only complaint would be the high prices.
We made reservations for 17 on a Saturday night a few weeks ahead of time, but we still waited for over 45 minutes for our table. Once we were seated the drinks, food, and service were good. There were a couple of hiccups in the food order, but nothing too major, especially when they were serving 17 of us.
Good vibe in this place. The staff were attentive and friendly. Josh, our server was quite pleasant. We could tell me was running from table to table but he was still trying. We ordered queso and guac for the table. The guac never came (but we got billed for it). It got pretty loud in there when it was packed but we could still talk. Our food was good. The queso they bring out was pretty tasty. Salsa was average. Josh recommended a plate for me and he was not wrong. It was really good. The enchiladas were great (just wish They were hot when I hit them.) The rice was your standard. The beans were pinto. To note: anyone using the search term for parking, they do have another lot in front of the apartments which was not full. Take a look at the sign photo I uploaded.
It’s been over 15 years since we last ate here. We moved out of town but were visiting family and decided to come back. The place was remodeled and very nice. The food was great and the server was very friendly. I had to take away 1 star because it took so long for our meal to come out. We were a group of 9 and we had fajitas, chimichangas, tacos, queso, enchiladas, etc. With the exception of the Spanish rice, everything was good. The Spanish rice was too dry. The place was very busy so maybe the kitchen was understaffed to keep up with the volume at the time. Not sure. The only other minor complaint is that it was very loud. If you are hard of hearing, it’s difficult to hear conversations because the background noise is so high. They do take reservations so thank you for that!
This was my first time at Uncle Julio’s. It was good, I had the ground beef el dorado tacos. They were okay, but the beef could have been seasoned better. There wasn’t much flavor. The hot sauce was really good though. The beans were fresh as well. My friend got the chicken and steak fajita, he loved it. It’s a little on the pricey side, but for the amount of food you get, it’s worth it. It comes with guacamole, cheese, onions, peppers, rice, beans, and warmed tortillas in their own container. Chips and salsa were delicious. The salsa is definitely home made. Next time I’ll have to try the fajita!
I hadn't been here in a while, but glad we stopped by again. Be sure to make a reservation because the place is always hopping, especially on the weekends. Very good margaritas for a reasonable price, pretty good tex mex. I had the nachos and they were on point, service was really good. I wish they had more parking, but not much they can do about that. Looking forward to going again.
The atmosphere is excellent. I have eaten here 5+ times and each time I am disappointed with the taste of the food verse the cost. We called almost a week ahead of time and made a reservation. When we arrived they stated they did not have table space to fit our party so we were to be split into two separate tables. Not ideal for visiting but not the end of our fun. We were assigned two separate waiters, one per table, which caused more issues due to some parties being split by tables. A trip to the restroom led to why our visit turned worse. On that side of the building there were numerous tables (large enough to hold our party) some occupied but several not at all. The manager came to apologize for what had happened. With no explanation why we were not seated together if the tables were available. They did however offer us a chocolate pinata, we said how will we share if we are at separate tables, therefore we got two. It was a great way to end the dinner.
Large, loud, colorful, crowded, close proximity to everyone, and everything! Fast service, good food, flavorful and hot. Loved their chips, salsa and fresh tortillas. We had the tortilla bowl and the hatch chill and white enchiladas! Very good food and we were In N Out ,(no, not that one) in no time! They know how to manage and move a crowd through this place for sure. Nice place to bring your family.
Food was okay, one meal shady meats rice tastes like box rice , beans same no flavor meats , i don’t like salty food but these food was completely tasteless, brinks same plane , also please find a way to clean those water refilling cup/jar may look cool but you can see that hard water residue that’s not washing. Clean, waiter was way too nice and keep repeating his name. Every time he walked away laugh out loud.
Good was ok, not great the last two visits over a year span. Both times we had kids with us and it was apparent the waitstaff was not happy to serve family, but instead of speeding it up (like most places do when they see young kids) they were supper slow to take then deliver our order and even bring check…BOTH times. Also we came early like 5pm (like we do with little kids) and didn’t plan to be there in big rush, but meal was so slow we were there almost 2 hours.
They have packed so many tables so close together that you can't even have a conversation with anyone at your table. I watched so many employees dodge each other and run into each other because there's no room to walk due to so many tables. We had ordered the fajitas and the chicken was not to bad. The beef had little to no flavor and tasted like it was boiled then charred on the grill for the marks. Im sad because this place use to be so great and we probably will not be returning here. If you want good tex mex food I would suggest lupe tortilla. If your looking for a place to have a couple drinks the bar area is much quieter and the mojitos are something to try.
Very loud, crowded difficult to carry on a conversation. Food was meh at best, extremely over priced for what it is. Our server seemed annoyed and frustrated that he had to deal with us at all and only came back to check on us once. Drinks were never refilled and we had to go to the bar to request to go boxes for several party members. Incredibly over priced 2 guys and a dream vibes for the most bland and basic texmex around. There are lots of better options for truly delicious tex mex or authentic Mexican options at a higher value where you aren't made to feel like an inconvenience for being at the restaurant. This was our first and last trip to this one.
Chocolate piñata was the best part. The food was not so good, enchiladas weren’t very tasting the manager and server were great over all the piñata is worth it you get a lot out of it it’s perfect for a birthday or a girls day and everyone eat together fruits and pastries of some sort in there I personally wouldn’t go back for the food but the piñata I would if I really had to 2/10 food and piñata 10/10
Life long resident of FtW. Julio’s is NOT what is was prior to the remodel and menu “update”. The flavor, menu offerings and general service are not what we all knew and loved. Save your money. Very overpriced. This is the third time we’ve given this a chance after all the changes. Bring back the old menu. Bring back the old glasses. Bring it all back. It is sad to lose another classic FtW restaurant to updated menu and stylings. Sometimes older is better. 🙁
We had a large group of 8 seated around other large groups so the noise is very loud. We were seated promptly at our reservation time of 6:30. I ordered a small queso for my wife and I and this took an hour to receive. The server blamed the kitchen being slow. When she did bring it out we had no chips left and I had to ask for more chips to go with the queso which was very bland nothing like the description on menu. Then we thought our main food entrees were coming but they only delivered one fajita and gave us rice and beans for the fajitas we hadn’t even been served yet. Turns out the one plate of food was for the table behind us and so was the rice and beans. 20 minutes later we asked server to take away the rice and beans and bring us new ones when our food was actually served. 1.5 hours later the food is delivered we had several combo fajitas and we’re only given sour cream and cheese. The server said the kitchen rain out of guacamole and lettuce and pico. The rice and beans were cold of course. The fajitas were good just no sides to build it properly. The manager did take some items off the bill and gave us a gift card for next time. But I don’t think a Mexican restaurant in Ft worth that can’t provide the basics , no guacamole or pico is unacceptable for a check over 300$. I’ll update if we go back. But there’s so many better options for Mexican food in Ft worth that gift cards may not even be worth this experience.
Went last night for the soft opening.. waited 2 & a half hours for food.. and the food wasn’t even good at that. Over priced drinks ($11.50 for well drinks) and overpriced horrible tasting food. Even though the food wasn’t free this night I definitely won’t be returning again. I don’t know how they got 4 stars in here, must be employees or something..
After waiting 15 minutes on an Uber and spending 20 minutes to get here, I find it temporarily closed. No big deal had they updated their Google, but no. Apparently, they expect potential customers to call before coming just to see. I cannot imagine good service coming from this establishment. It is obvious they have been closed for a while. If you come, I guess call to see if they are open. They certainly won't tell you.
We celebrated my 40th birthday here. Was super excited as I’ve been here before. The fajitas were not the same they were from years ago. Pretty bland to be honest. The rest of the food was ok. The chocolate piñata was good but the pineapple was barely ripe. The biggest deal breaker is the scent. Walking into and out of the restaurant you are overwhelmed by the stinky sewage. It’s so pungent, you just can’t get over it and I won’t be back to this location because of it.
Worse place I have ever tried in the metroplex Food was horrible and had no taste, margaritas are nothing special just watered down margarita mix. Our server was so lazy and took forever to come to our table and was just running around and serving chips and salsa to other tables but not interested in taking orders from customers. When I tried ordering different margaritas he tells me to hold on and goes and brings chips and salsa to a different table. Flies flying all over the food and sewer smell and stains all over the walkway outside in front of the door, overall very dirty restaurant This was our first time at Julio’s and definitely last one, just waste of money
Wow. The food here has gone WAY down hill. The fajitas were soaking in grease so much that I couldn’t even eat it. The tortilla soup was lukewarm. Very disappointed and won’t be going back. Way better options down the road.
Beef fajitas were stringy and tough. Questions was very thin. Children's portions were small. They need to up their game if you are charging $32+ for a fajitas dish. Not headed back anytime soon, as I wanted to see if my daughter's gave them a fair shake. They were spot on.
I’ve been to this location for the last 10 plus years and have always had a great experience until tonight. The food wasn’t brought out at the same time, our waitress never apologized for it and the entire process was extremely slow. It took over 30 minutes to even order our food. I asked for a manager when we left and was told only the kitchen manager was on duty. The hostess never once apologized or asked to get the said manager on duty. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a bad experience bad enough to even ask for a manager but this place needs a complete overhaul. We were a party of nine so I felt compelled to bring it to someone’s attention since automatic gratuity is added but felt completely ignored and undervalued as a customer. As a franchise owner myself, I would want to know how my business is ran when I’m not there. Google was the last place I wanted to come but since no one cared, I guess it’s my last resort.
We went on a Saturday night and waited 30 mins to be seated. We experienced racism at this location as a black couple. We waited over an hour for our food. We were told that our ticket got lost. Tables that were seated after us with large parties got their food before us. There were 2 other tables with black people that had the same issues and were also told that their ticket got lost. The manager compensated everything that we had ordered. We didn’t have to pay for a thing. Our rice and beans still came out cold. We also received raw steak when we asked for well done. Also, all the blacks were seated in the very far back or back in the corner.
Got soooo incredibly sick after eating here. Service was great even though we had to move table twice due to they were getting new patio chairs. But, the food had me sick for three days!!!!! Never ever will I eat here again.
Response to Ryan: I appreciate that you responded in a respectful manner and I understand that you likely have no control over these unnecessary fees, but I have to address something you said: "We only include the packaging fee with our take-out as rolling it into our regular prices would unnecessarily charge everyone for packaging fees." I dislike your framing here because you're insinuating that Uncle Julio's is actually doing customers a *favor* by making them pay an extra fee for getting their items to-go, and that feels disingenuous. There are numerous costs that are factored into the price of menu items. Many of these costs are incurred by those who are dining in. The cost of a server, the cost of a busser, the cost of washing dishes, the cost of the music and lights, the cost of refilling drinks, the cost of cleaning products to clean the tables, the cost of upkeeping the bathrooms, and so on. A person ordering to-go is costing you guys *less* because they simply walk in, grab their food, and leave. It's a 10 min transaction, if that. So why are they penalized by having to pay an added fee, a fee that is not standard and so would of course be unexpected, a fee that is itemizing a labor cost that should be included in the price just like all the others? Because to-go customers are having to pay the same price for their menu items as dine-in customers, despite the fact that they are not engaging in the dine-in experience. Imagine if there was a sit-down fee. A busser fee. A handsoap fee. Doesn't that sound silly? Borderline dystopian? So why is there a packaging fee? Lastly, one more thing I dislike about your framing is that you say "[it would] unnecessarily charge everyone for packaging fees" as if we can't point to someplace like Chili's, Boomerjack's, or Mi Cocina and see that they are operating just fine without including a packaging fee. I mean it's not like your restaurant's prices are marginally lower than your competitors. I got a small chips and queso and the mini pork chimichangas appetizer and my bill was almost $30. So in conclusion Ryan, I know you gotta bat for Uncle Julio's, whether or not you agree with the policy, but please, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. Have a good one. *** Original review: So I wanted to try out Uncle Julio's since I'm relatively new to the area and am in search of a regular mexican place. I went to order online and before placing my order, I noticed there was a $1 service fee for ordering online. I thought "hmm, I'm pretty close by, I'll just walk in and order instead" so that I could avoid the extra fee. I walk in, place my order, and when the food was ready, I follow the server to pay my bill. When I go to pay, I notice the bill was a little higher than I was expecting. Imagine my surprise when I look at the receipt and see that there was a $1.25 packaging fee for my to-go order. You've gotta be kidding me. I went out of my way to place the order in person so that I could avoid senseless fees, and I walked right into not only a senseless fee, but a higher one. This is not standard, and in an economy where simple luxuries like take-out are few and far between, feeling like I'm being taken advantage of by sneaking in an unexpected fee leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The food was okay. The service was nice. It doesn't really matter though, because I cannot stand companies that nickel and dime consumers. If you need to factor labor costs of the to-go person into the customer's bill, then factor it directly into your prices. Don't tack on a non-standard fee that people are not expecting to have to pay. The search continues 🫡
DO NOT EAT HERE! The host was a younger Caucasian gentleman. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. He had us waiting for 40+ mins when he said the wait was 20 mins. When we asked when our table would be ready he said I called your name which is a lie because we had been waiting in the waiting room the entire time. He wouldn’t serve us. If you’re a POC DO NOT go here. You are not welcome. The host should not be working at the front if he can’t even have basic manners.
I had a kind request for my waitress and it was to please not touch in your hair because your handling food and drinks. Next thing I know, there is a male waiter who takes over and it was never explained to us. Then another waitress walks by and she's giving the look, so I spoke at a volume where I acknowledged her and she was aware that I saw her giving me the side eye. The service along with the wait time to receive our food was horrible. Needless to say, we will never waste our time nor money on this place again.
Seated quickly for 6PM on Sunday, took about 8 minutes for a server to come to our table go ask about drinks, were told they are out of Steak 😳😳 so had to revise my selection, food was slow, 2 servers came to our table with food that was not our order, 3rd time was our food but it was barely above room temperature. Husband asked for water with margarita and never received it. Too many options for good food and service to come back here. Still loud inside but no different than other restaurants these days.
no white queso = no reason to go here any longer. value has been lacking for a while but since the re-opening it seems like prices are up slightly and value is just not there compared to other tex-mex places. Dinner quesadillas not coming with rice and beans is another major ding. Other restaurants do include them, and for less overall cost. Too bad, as there was a time that this was one of my favorite places to get lunch.
