Our 2nd stay at the Eden Mar Hotel in Funchal was again absolutely perfect from beginning to end! We felt warmly welcomed and completely cared for throughout our time there. A very special thank you goes to the wonderful ladies at the reception – always friendly, helpful, and professional. Every question was answered with a smile, and every request was handled promptly and kindly. You can truly feel the spirit of genuine hospitality here. Another highlight was the Alfama Restaurant. The ladies working there were exceptional – attentive, warm, and full of charm, making every meal a memorable experience. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Eden Mar doesn’t just impress with its beautiful location and excellent facilities – it’s the amazing team that makes the difference. Their warmth and dedication created an atmosphere that made us feel truly at home. We will definitely return – thank you for such a wonderful experience!

We have had an amazing dining experience, the food was absolutely wonderful, a creation by a true artist! Perfection on a plate! Our wines were matched to our delicious taster menu by Paulo, 37 years of his expertise certainly shows in his well chosen Portuguese wines. Highly recommend a visit!

It was a real surprise. We’ve been in multiple restaurants during our stay (including Michelin recommended ones), but eating in our hotel’s restaurants turned out to be the best choice. I can highly recommend both Alfama and Horta! Food is truly excellent.

We visited on our first night, feeling a bit lazy, and what a pleasant surprise! The food was stunning: we had lamb and the beef kebab, both cooked beautifully rare as requested 👌Waiter was very friendly, recommended a delicious wine, and entertained some kids on a table over the other side of the lawn with some magic tricks 😂 Still our favourite meal after a week in Madeira.

Location on google maps is wrong. Restaurant is part of the “hotel porto mare”. Food and service is very good. Only point of critisism is that the service of the food was too fast.

Our last night here so we decided to treat ourselves. A bit disappointed to be honest. It was nice, bread and wine was good. Mains were tepid though Felt almost like they were reheated rather than fresh. Dessert was pre prepared too. Felt too quick overall for fresh food.

It was fairly quiet when we ate here on a Thursday evening out of school holiday time, so it was disappointing that the staff weren't very attentive. Although it is nice that they were spending time chatting to customers who were obviously regulars, this shouldn't come at the expense of others who may themselves become regulars. After being seated with the menu it took quite some time before someone eventually came to take our order. I understand that it then takes a while for the food to arrive, as it is cooked fresh, however we shouldn't have had to get up from the table to find the waiter to get our drink order. The food though was excellent, very flavoursome, well presented and the pork ribs had a generous amount of meat on them.
