We LOVE Roots! The atmosphere, Live Music, kid friendly & the pizza! The pizza is amazing! The BBQ Chicken is great! We look forward to ordering more and trying other flavor pizza! The Cheesecake is creamy and yummy too! We love live music with Angelyn too!
The pizza is no joke! Delicious! Had a great time, great music, great food!
We absolutely love coming to Roots and have been regular customers for quite some time. The food is always amazing, the drinks are great, and the service has consistently been friendly and welcoming. It’s one of those places we enjoy bringing our family, and we’ve made a lot of great memories there over the years. This past Friday evening we stopped in again with our kids, expecting the same comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere we’re used to. However, it looked like there may have been a new bartender working, and unfortunately what she was wearing felt extremely inappropriate for what we’ve always known to be a family establishment. Her outfit was very revealing, to the point that everything was practically hanging out, which made it uncomfortable while sitting there with our children. It really caught us off guard and took away from the otherwise great experience we normally have there. We truly enjoy Roots and want to continue supporting it, which is why we felt it was worth mentioning. We hope management will take this into consideration moving forward, because Roots has always been a place we recommend to others and we’d love to keep seeing it maintain the welcoming, family-friendly vibe that has always made it such a great spot.
This pizza place is truly a hidden gem with such a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. It was our first time here but From the moment you walk in, you can feel the laid-back vibe that makes it easy to unwind, enjoy great food, and just be present with the people you’re with. The environment is warm and inviting, making it perfect whether you’re stopping in for a casual night out or staying awhile to enjoy the experience. The service was excellent from start to finish. Even though it was busy and some guests were a little demanding, the staff handled everything with professionalism and patience. The little bartender especially stood out she definitely seemed focused lol but was so sweet and we had such a great conversation . Everyone there is absolutely amazing at what they do. They stayed efficient, attentive, and friendly the entire time. It’s not easy to get the job done and keep everyone happy, but they did it with confidence and grace. You can tell there’s a strong team behind this place that truly cares about creating a positive experience for every guest. The combination of great service, a relaxed environment, and delicious pizza makes this spot one I’ll definitely keep coming back to. Highly recommend for anyone looking for good food, good vibes, and genuinely hardworking staff who go above and beyond.
If you are looking for a solid place for lunch with a creative menu and great pizza— Roots will do the job! I’ve eaten there dozens of times and never had a single complaint. While eating, you can imagine what it was like as a saloon in the 1880s… solid food, respectful, waitstaff, in a tavern atmosphere. I take my friends there.
During early happy hour on Friday, 1/9/26, the bartender who attended us delivered exceptional service. He was genuinely helpful, impressively attentive without ever being intrusive, and his food recommendations were absolutely on point. Beyond the service, we enjoyed great conversations about music and his personal history living in the surrounding areas, which added a warm, authentic layer to the experience. He is truly the kind of presence that makes guests want to return again and again. And a tip for fellow diners: don’t miss the rosemary potatoes outstanding.
Stopped in for a couple of 3 dollar tacos. Stayed for 4 hours. Staff was great, fun and personable without being intrusive. Tacos were fantastic and one of the best Cuban sandwiches I have had since leaving Florida. Definitely on our future rotation.
Roots is in the downtown square of Georgetown in a building that is over 100 years old. Parking is challenging around the square, but it is worth finding a spot. The restaurant is a large open space with a second level balcony with additional tables and seating. We stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and there was only one table occupied, so plenty of open seating. There is a small stage by the front door, and I can tell that this place can get crowded, especially when they have live music. The menu has a great variety of choices, salads, appetizers, tacos, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. I got the El Cubano sandwich, and my wife got the California Tacos with slow braised pork and a side salad. Wes, the restaurant manager, was friendly and talked with us about the food and history of the building and restaurant. We enjoyed talking with him and he is also clearly great in the kitchen because both meals were excellent! The Cuban sandwich had slow braised pulled pork and was topped with Swiss cheese, pickles, horseradish aioli, and Dijon on a Cuban roll. The pork was tender and juicy, and the Cuban roll was pressed, so the outside was slightly crunchy, perfect to hold in all the juiciness of the sandwich. I would definitely get this sandwich again. My wife loved her tacos. The salsa gave the right level of spices to take this taco over the top. She gave me a bite and I almost didn’t want to give it back to her! A lot of restaurants out there are making some type of taco plate, but this is one of the best tacos that we have tried. Even the side salad was excellent, and the ranch dressing was great. Wes told us that the dressing, like almost all items, are made in house. We can’t wait to come back and try the pizza, and also bring our entire family. If that is not enough to convince you to try Roots, let’s talk about price. The El Cubano sandwich was $12.00 and the California Taco plate was $10.50. This place is excellent value for your money, especially compared to other places in the Georgetown area. My wife and I spent more money on two subs at a sandwich shop than we spent here. I really give credit to Roots for working to keep prices reasonable while providing fresh and delicious food! Go to Georgetown square, find a parking spot, and go to Roots. Based on our experience, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
I love this place! West and Vicky make this place thrive. Tuesday’s are karaoke with DJ Gavin! Plus $2 tacos. Wednesday is open mic night! Great for the whole family with an upstairs and back patio. They always have the beer I like and the staff know you’re name. I am bringing more and more people here to meet some of the amazing people that I’ve been so Lucky to meet. This small town place has made me believe in restaurants again! Ok I think I come here too often. Y’all there is an upstairs and a back out door seating area. DJ has changed but super great time. If you get the pizza you must try the kitchen sink!!!
Loved the food, loved the environment! Everything we tried, we enjoyed. The service was WAYYY above par. The food always tastes amazingly flavorful, and is made from the freshest ingredients right there in the bistro, as soon as you order. My aunt came with me on this visit, and she does not eat tomato sauce, (they did not have the garlic and olive oil option that she likes on her pasta) however they were very quick and eager to make exactly what she had requested with no hesitation. Our visit this time was TOP NOTCH, and the food and service were phenomenal. We'll be back again soon.
The food was good. The salad with grilled chicken had plenty of meat. The beer selection is pretty good. The pizza with "ground beef" looked more like small blocks of meat that maybe also goes on a gyro. It was ok. Not that impressed overall.
Best pizza in town, the live music is great but can make it almost impossible to talk to your party. It can also be very warm during the hotter summer months.
This place has a beautiful ambiance. The live music makes it the perfect spot to unwind on a Sunday evening. The pizza was amazing—the bread was soft, and the flavors were spot on. I personally would have preferred more veggies on the pizza, but overall, the beer and pizza combo paired with the music made for a truly enjoyable experience. Definitely a great spot for a relaxing night out!
I don't think Roots pizza gets enough credit. We had The chicken pesto and meat lovers pizza both or awesome. We also had the cheese board which had three kinds of cheese pesto jelly and apples as an appetizer, it was also excellent. They have a large selection of draft beers however sometimes they're not the coldest. This might be just because they do not chill their glasses.
Service is inconsistent. The busier they are the better they are. Kids that work there are good and the food is always good. There was a drunk older man talking to people (harmless but annoying) and the staff was attentive and making sure all the female customers were left alone until he left. I come here every so often.
They use the same frozen beef patties as the assisted living I work at, which isn't a bad thing except when you charge someone 15 dollars for a single burger. Not sure how the pizza is, but it looked good. Atmosphere is fine, very casual.
Terrible service. We visited after getting a recommendation and were super disappointed. This is not a place to go if you like good service. We ordered the Big Kahuna pizza. It was just ok. It had very little toppings. Not worth the price at all. The girl working the bar and register must not like her job. There were several empty tables on a Friday night. The tables had trash and crumbs all over them. The wait for the food was not bad. The live music was not great. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
the food is impossible to order as there are no servers you have to scream at a bar-tender for that because they over crank the tiny stage where they have a live band destroy everyone with massive amounts of hearing damage, not clean, not friendly, very cramped, only out of towners that don't know the risks and hearing damage cased here would ever go here. Highly recommend
