What a beautiful atmosphere with incredible food! We ate at the Deck Bar outside with amazing views. Our server Alliha was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Our Blackberry lemonades were so fresh and the perfect blend of sour and sweet. The seared scallop appetizer was probably the best scallops I’ve ever had. Beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I wanted 3 more orders. Then we split a brisket sandwich with loaded mashed potatoes. Beyond flavorful, and the brisket was cooked just right. The bread soaks up all the flavors too to finish off the meal in the best way. Give Kau a try and ask for Alliha, you won’t be disappointed in the slightest!
My daughter requested a family dinner for her 18th birthday at Kau’s tonight. We came there for the Pork BBQ nachos!!! Everything was great. Service was a little slow but we didnt mind it since we were a party of 9 and our waiter was very pleasant and respectful. I dont remember his name but he did a very good job attending to our table, checking what we need and giving us space to actually enjoy the food and time with family. To our waiter, we appreciate you! I hope you enjoy that well deserved slice of home made cake. ❤️
I LOVE KAU. Everything time. Brisket Mac & Cheese. We got calamari this time too and I got a side of Brussel sprouts with like a balsamic on top that was good. Dragon fruit strawberry margaritas, rainbow sherbert hard cider, pineapple cider and the open face brisket with fries. Husband said the best sandwich he has ever had. Love the atmosphere and Miles is super sweet and the best, ask for him when you go for sure, perfect personal service.
My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary at Kau on Saturday. The staff was amazing starting with Maria the hostess. Our servers Natalie and Hailey provided us with superb customer service and an amazing dining experience. We used to spend our anniversary with Fleming’s but because of the EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE we received that will be a thing of the past. Our food was spot on from the recommendations from them. The manager Megan came by to check on us and we had to let her know she has a top tier staff. We LOVED every moment of being at Kau. Thank you for bringing professionalism, honesty and integrity back into the restaurant business. We will be back EVERY opportunity we can. We will let our friends and family know they are missing out if they don’t go by and enjoy “the experience” at Kau. We will see you all soon and again THANK YOU Maria, Natalie, Hailey and Megan for a job well done. I must add the in house steak sauce and ranch dressing was so good we wanted to drink it lol hats off to the CHEF!!!!!
We had: 3 Farm platters- great portion, the eggs were good, and so was the bread/toast, and bacon. The bacon was extremely salty, so much so I on of them didn't eat any of it. The wheat toast would gave been a good choice, but we under it was just a special. Smash burger- that wasn't smashed. He didn't eat it at all. The fries were some of the best I've had in a while, just plain. Collard dip- the pita chips were lightly crispy and just perfect. The dip itself seemed to be missing something, and it was, cheese. It still tasted ok, but this is my favorite menu item, so I could tell. Brisket Mac n cheese was very good. We were seated right in front of th bathroom, which was weird because there were only 3 tables when we got there. I think MaKayla was the bartender and our server. She was nice enough, just not attentive. Mary was a server that brought out some of our food. She grabbed a few things for us with a smile. Josh (I hope I remembered his name correctly) he was the MOD and amazing. My guest were from out of town and he explained some of the history of the space and talked about the menu. We appreciated time, as he could have been doing anything else. Overall, 9/10 and we'll definitely be back! (Sunday brunch @ noon)
We made a reservation and were seated quickly upon arrival. For our appetizer, we had the calamari, which was delicious and tasted very fresh. My husband ordered the Rau Ribeye and said it was excellent flavorful and clearly a high-quality cut of steak. I had the salmon with mashed potatoes, and both were cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes could have been a bit softer, but overall everything tasted great. The only downside was that the tables felt a bit small and somewhat uncomfortable. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our experience
We live downtown, and decided to ride the Hopper Trolly down to Kau at Revolution Mill. We had never been! We sat outside before dinner waiting for our table, and Natalie, the outside server brought us cold drinks, and she was so nice and attentive! She really set the tone for the evening. It actually felt like a vacation spot in our hometown! Absolutely beautiful patio. When we got our table, Trinity was our server, and she did such a great job. The food was amazing, especially the rare tuna appetizer, and the wedge salad. My husband enjoyed his ribeye very much. The space is very cool, with tall windows and a really cool vibe. Everyone that worked there was was so efficient and welcoming. When you go, ask for Natalie and Trinity! We will definitely be back. What a beautiful evening.

We went in for dinner on Valentine's Day, and it was busy as expected. But it was worth the wait. Servers there were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered 2 steaks: medium-well and medium. The medium was cooked to perfection. The medium-well could've been cooked a little longer, but it was too delicious to complain. We also ordered the bacon bites appetizer; delicious. Overall, we will be coming back soon. Of course, not on a busy holiday. Definitely recommend for a good steak.
I had the Cajun wings and spicy margarita. The meat was a tid dry, but the margarita was spot on. The environment was nice and clean and very modern. My friend had the brisket and macaroni and cheese. It was wicked good.
We only recently moved to Greensboro and still exploring different places to eat. Went here for lunch and is our first visit and will not be our last. The building is awesome. There are so many other items on the menu we can't wait to try. I had the special of the day, the pork belly tacos and I think andoullie sausage. I stopped listening after pork belly. Great flavor. We also tried the brisket Mac n cheese. Delicious. I wish there was a mac n cheese trio option but i guess we will just have to make several visits. Our server was friendly. Can't wait to go back.
This place was amazing!!! The service here was unmatched, we walked in at 9:15 pm & Danielle took great care of us & there was no rush on anything! I got the Mac and cheese brisket and my friend got the Mac and cheese Buffalo chicken, such large portions and the taste was phenomenal! The ambiance of the entire restaurant is great, with the lights and the industrial theme 🤩 Would highly recommend Kau, especially if you’re a beef lover - and if not, they have so many other options!
I was in Greensboro visiting a friend and her family. They made reservations for us at Kau and I’m glad they did. The chophouse is located at the Revolution Mill which is a repurposed industrial mill. I opted to sit on the patio and enjoy the scenery. I tried the watermelon martini which was the drink special of the day and the pulled pork Mac n cheese. Both were very good. As an appetizer we had the spinach dip which was also great. The steaks were reasonably priced and smelled good, but the Mac n cheese looked too good not to try.
This place was spectacular! They have their own butcher shop on premises and have fresh meat daily. The food, just wow! We had a bacon plate for an appetizer, brisket macaroni and cheese, grilled pork chop and shrimp skewers. The atmosphere was perfect. The wait staff exceptional!
Natalie Wood was amazing and had a great personality. She was very knowledgeable about the menu very well patient We will definitely be back
They got best butcher shop and burgers. The post the guy put about disappointing burgers in butcher shop is all false. First of all there burgers are not $17lb, they are half that, second they patty there burgers in machine never seen them look like his post, third they use Prime Meat which has high content of good marbling, fourth there meat would never look like that the next day that dark that quick (meat does turn color after few days thats natural, fifth they make .50lb patties those look smaller and they dont preseason there burgers like the guys where in picture. And they certainly dont put bacon on or around them as the gentleman said. So everything in his post was false. I grew up on a farm there meat is extreme quality. If I had to guess the gentleman probably left the burgers in somewhere other than his refrigerator.... then wrote a bad review because of his screw up. And if ground beef stays bright red buddy for multiple days I can assure you number one is being processed in a plant and having something added to it. Ground beef should naturally change color fairly quickly if done in house and not having anything added to it. Open air oxidation plays a factor as well.
Thank you to the entire KAU staff for making my baby’s 20th birthday one to remember. The closed off intimate space, the candles, the service! I cannot forget about the excellent customer service we received from beginning to end. Thank you
We LOVE Kau! The food is always top notch, and the service has always been great. We've never had a bad experience. Myles in particular is one of our favorite servers. He is so upbeat and fun and gives great recommendations. The atmosphere is great and makes for a romantic date night. It's one of our favorite restaurants in Greensboro
Get the short rib bowl! Super tender and a huge portion. Thanks Myles for the suggestion. By far, the best part of our dining experience was Myles, our server. Myles was amazing! He knew the menu up and down, was very personable and attentive! Thanks Myles
The service, food and time waiting was excelent. Big Shout out to our Hostess Ethee, employee not only greet us with a big smile and guide us to our table, but the employee excedded my expectations when my Finacé and left the restaurant to go to Grapes and Grains Tavern leaving behind on the table wy wristled walet with car keys. Ethee graciously brought it to us while we were enjoying a drink. Very appreciative of the excelent customer service and delicious food!
Myles was an excellent waiter/server. He was very attentive and was able to troubleshoot when the food selection was not available. I hoped the food would have been better, however the breakfast brunch is not a hit for me. I will potentially try other items on the menu at a later date.
Great staff. Shoutout to N. Wood the bartender. She was our server. Made us feel welcomed. Food was great. Had the ribeyes. Excellent will be back.
We had a great time and great food with friends. Natalie Wood went above and beyond, she knows how to treat her guests in a professional yet friendly manner. She is the reason we will be back.
💜My family & I come often; we love Kau! We came with my husband & two young children. I had the Filet Benedict, it was lovely as always. But I have to say the service was considerably memorable due to Miles our waiter. He was eagerly attentive to my young boy & I. Miles was as hilarious & as he was helpful with suggestions. I will certainly be back Plus- I loved their music playlist today.
I drove in from Raleigh based off my brother's recommendation for a family dinner. His son treated him there. The best experience was Myles . He had great recommendations on dishes as well as background history on the Textile building where the restaurant is located. I don't eat a lot of red meat. However, I decided to go on the wild side and tried the short ribs. It comes with mashed potatoes and greens. I was impressed with the portion amount. My brother order a couple of sides and I enjoyed his Mac and cheese. The customer service of all staff is phenomenal. However, we were very impressed with Myles.
Spent my 10th wedding anniversary at Kaus tonight. The food was excellent. Wife's tips were a little bland but the sauce we were given made up for it. Atmosphere was very nice. Loved the butcher shop. Bought 3 giant hamburger patties and a bottle of the same sauce given to my wife. The best part was William our waiter. Top notch. Checked on us a lot. Very professional. Would highly recommend this place and William!!!
From start to finish, Kau was an incredible dining experience. The highlight of the night was easily the tomahawk steak—it was cooked to absolute perfection, packed with flavor, and beautifully presented. Without a doubt, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. What really set the evening apart, though, was our server, Hailey P. She was unbelievable—attentive without being overbearing, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely made us feel welcome the entire time. Her energy and professionalism turned a great meal into an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for outstanding food paired with top-tier service, Kau is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back—and I’ll be asking for Hailey by name!
Great experience. We were walk-ins and we weren't prepared so we were told they weren't sitting walk-ins until 7:30. Food was phenomenal. Service is good, a little slow but overall recommend for a good meal BUT make reservations first.
Stumbled upon this gem while in town for the High Point Furniture Market. We had a great experience due to our server, Natalie! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect! The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious!
First of all, love the play on the name. Interior has a good industrial vibe with a soaring ceiling, and lots of exposed wood and metal. The space has a very LA feel to it, which is nice to see in Greensboro. No sound baffling anywhere inside with a lot of hardscapes, so the sound level was very loud to the point you couldn't hear the music. Seared tuna appetizer was excellent, although it could have been a tad less seared and more raw. Tasted like housemade wasabi with the tuna 👍🏼. Steak was cooked well, but had some unexpected gristle. The potatoes were fairly bland and didn't taste like they had any seasoning. Wine list is decent but could include more options. And a Malbec. Waitress was very friendly, but a little slow throughout the night, then not aware we were ready for the check. Couldn't choose 3.5 stars, so I gave 4 since it's definitely better than 3. All in all, not what I'd expect on most levels for the price point, but we'd definitely go back and try again.
Went early on Valentine's Day. The kitchen seemed busy, despite the early hour, but we didn't need a reservation. (But I suspect it would have been required after 5pm.) The steak is quite good, but the appetizers and sides could make a solid tapas style meal. They also have fish, although I have not tried it. The non-steak options (including tacos, pork, and burgers) are significantly more affordable. The original cocktail, a gin sour, was great, as was my Negroni.
I loved this place and the experience that I had was great! I ordered the BBQ Brisket tacos and they were some of the best tacos I’ve ever had! However, I did feel like the pulled pork nachos were pretty mid. Too much coleslaw on top that was bland and wet ruined the sauce, pork, chips and cheese. Over all great experience would recommend no coleslaw on the nachos!
Everything was awesome. We sat at the outside bar because of the great weather. Food was good. We had the collard dip, sausage dip and the soul rolls were the show stopper. I ordered the chicken Philly and my wife ordered the Buffalo chicken mac n cheese. No complaints here about the food at all. The drinks were also very satisfying.
The Collard dip was pretty good. Would have enjoyed it even more if the temperature was hotter. The Soul Rolls were delicious, but they, too, could have been hotter. The BBQ sauce that accompanied them was fantastic. The 16oz Ribeye was nothing short of fantastic and cooked perfectly. Great crust, flavor, and was hot when it arrived. The mashed potatoes were delicious and hot as well. I had the tallow butter with them ($2 extra for a tablespoon), and that set them on fire. The collard greens were quite tasty but barely warm. They offered me a second batch, and they, too, were not hot. Better, a tad, but not what they should have been. The server was friendly and precise. We dined outside, so there was a touch of feeling like you were on an island. Service was missing just a bit (refills) because of that. Will definitely be back. Food was close to 5 stars, but because of temps, it's a 4.4. Service maybe a tick below 4 at 3.8-3.9. Atmosphere outside was very nice and glad we chose it.
Disappointed in Kau's butcher. They charged us a premium $17/lb (bacon on Labelle) for older ground beef with hardly a speck of pink and a fair bit of hard oxidized edges. This is one day after pickup molded into patties, not touched previously. Obviously a mixup on the label but the quality is a tad disappointing
I ordered the mashed potatoes with short ribs and a side of fries. The short ribs needed a little bit more seasoning. The mashed potatoes were good. The fries were good also. My friend ordered the collard green dip and I kept eating her chips that came with it. The chips were so good I could eat them alone. She also ordered the lamb chops they were over seasoned. It was kind of hard to eat. Other than that I enjoyed sitting outside. The waitress was nice and polite.
Had our company party here. Nothing special, food was mediocre at best. Service was off the charts good. I had the filet which is advertised as medium rare. Wish I took a picture. Was medium well and dry. Brussel sprouts were overcooked. As a caterer and foodie I was disappointed to sat the least. I also had the ahi tuna instead of a salad and that was good. Overall my experience here was a 3 star and if my food had not had it's issues would have been much better. I travel all over and experience many places. May or may not return to try again.
Tonight I and 8 others came to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I have visited Kau many times. I have bragged on this place and introduced many friends and families to Kau. I love Kau and still do. I will always be a customer but tonight I was disappointed simply because of the portions. I always order the Mac brisket and it is always a heaping portion and I am able to eat if for two or three days. Tonight it was cold and it was not nearly what I get. I don’t know if it was so many people that they cut portions or what but I was displeased. Let me add that Miles has been the best waiter that we ever had in Kau. He has the best personality and he was awesome. Give him a raise!!! Team Mikes!
Read Kau was under new ownership and decided to see if it would be better than our last disappointing visit 9-10 months ago. It was not. Service and food was quite slow ( it was not crowded) and we were disappointed after our wait by very mediocre food at this price point. We had salmon, 2 burgers, tacos, chicken sandwich and 1 steak $250. All were ok but none great. Would not recommend.
I do not mind paing for good food, but i also want to feel I got my moneys worth. The food was expensive and small portion. You only get a entree and one side. They have changed how they make some of the appetizers. There was a major mistake with one order and the manager took that item off of the bill, that was nice of them! Not sure if I will go back.
Surprisingly mediocre experience after looking forward to this place for a few weeks. Had a reservation and got sat promptly. Ordered a Caesar salad and a ribeye with mushrooms, a sauvignon blanc, and a cocktail. A buss boy basically threw my salad plate down as he walked by, which was a bit rude and off putting. The salad was fine, but sadly the steak, was sorely under-seasoned and cooked more medium than my medium rare ask. My waitress was pleasant enough, but I didn’t see or taste anything notable enough to want to come back. My exchanges with staff were alright, but felt a bit awkward. YMMV
First of all.... it's wasn't busy had a table for 5 people ... our server wasn't very good.... waited 30 mins for drinks/ water and he finally came back around and it was 45 min later we ordered food and finally got our food 1 hour later..... plate 1 ribeye was rare and was ordered med.... 2 beef tip plates were cold and the meat loaf was cold to as well.... manager never came over and checked on us...... ordered a long ice tea that was extremely strong..... 2 old fashion drinks that were horrible..... my bill was over 250..... I probably won't be back.... maybe next time I should go on a Tuesday so that it might be better service and hotter food..... I've been in the restaurant business for a long time and I would be ashamed to send out cold food and have lame servers.... I told the server that our food was cold and he did absolutely nothing..... bar tenders nevered smiled at no one or asked if we need anything.... water glasses were never refilled and to many people running around do absolutely nothing..... thanks for a great birthday!!! Won't be back!!!!!
Great atmosphere, poor food quality & poor service. An hour for our food to arrive, never refilled drinks. Our party had 2 different styles of burger, brisket tacos(terrible pot roast with bbq sauce) & chicken tenders. 3/4 of the food was cold when it got to the table. We used to love Kau, this was our first time back in nearly 2 yrs. The only redeeming food item was the chicken tenders.
I visited around 6:15 PM and requested an outdoor table for four. I was seated fairly quickly, and shortly after, a server brought water to the table. That was the last time she interacted with us, despite actively serving the three surrounding tables. After waiting a while with no service, a bartender (a white woman with short black hair) noticed us and kindly took our order. She was clearly very busy, bouncing between inside and outside, but she was the only staff member who acknowledged us and made any effort to help. I ordered a Philly with no mushrooms or onions. Once we got our food we noticed we had no utensils after waiting several minutes my friend went in search. Once we had utensils, I cut into my sandwich only to find PICKLES!! As someone who is pregnant, this triggered a strong emotional reaction. I asked for it to be remade, but it came out wrong again! No server checked in, and neither did any manager, despite several walking past our table multiple times. Once again, my friend had to go search for assistance. Eventually, the manager took the item off our bill, but still never came over to speak with me or our table directly. The only reason we received any service at all was thanks to the bartender, who deserves full credit for doing her best under pressure. I’m incredibly disappointed, especially because I’ve had good experiences here before.
was grossly overcharged for some scallops I purchased at the Market. emailed to bring to their attention and was promised an investigation the next morning. It's been a week and I have heard nothing, no resolution. I was charged $42 for 10 oz of scallops. Very disappointed. This place used to be so great.
they forgot our reservation, we got upstairs and sat down and our waitress took approximately 10 minutes just to get our drink order then waited another 10 minutes to get our drinks, no ice in the drinks the waitress made us serve our own drinks, waited 2 and a half hours for our food and then the food SUCKED. some of the food we ordered we never even received it.
Was there for a company holiday gathering. Restaurant very cold inside. Waitress rude. Had to ask for drink orders and refills. 1st entree (ribeye), they wouldn’t substitute sides and never alerted those that asked and just brought the plates. Steak was so overcooked barely could cut it. 2nd entree (brisket Mac and cheese), noodles weren’t cooked all the way, watery BBQ over powered the dish. Couldn’t even taste the cheese for Mac and cheese. Do not recommend after this experience, especially for the price!
Went for dinner at n Valentines Day. They were busy as to be expected however it took 45 minutes to get seated with our reservation. We then waited 20 minutes just for water and to place a drink and appetizer order. After we placed our entree order the server came back to check on us and when we asked them to check on our appetizer they came back and asked what the appetizer was we ordered because they never put it in. The food was not good enough to make up for the service mistakes made and it will be a long time if ever before we go again.
The rating is solely based on the service. Currently I am sitting at the bar waiting for the food. Unfortunately the level of service has been so poor the taste of the food really couldn’t sway my rating. The woman tending to us seemed to be more occupied with conversing with a coworker who came in to dine. Can’t say I’ll be back for dinner. Brunch is a maybe
Last night myself and 3 other young ladies decided to check out Kau after an AMAZING candle making class at D Scents at Revolution Mill. Upon entering we were asked if we had a reservation which we responded that we did not. The host then replied "We are fully committed tonight" and walked off. It was 5:20 and only about 4 to 5 tables were occupied in the whole restaurant at the moment so we thought maybe the host was trying to move some things around. As we awkwardly stood around the host returned to completely ignore us. I asked if we could sit at the bar and he replied "If you can find enough seats." We walked around to the bar and there were 3 seats together and 2 on the other side of another small group. I asked the bartender if I could bring a chair over and she said that would be ok. As I was pulling up a chair, the other bartender rudely stated that there was a table behind us that would be occupied and it might be to tight. I stated that it would be ok, and she again insisted that it would be tight, clearly not wanting us to stay. I understand being booked with reservations, however at 5:30 with a half empty bar and a nearly completely empty restaurant I truly did not understand why they staff was so adamant that we did not stay. I do not recommend anyone spend their hard earned money at this snobby establishment.
