My wife and I had a fantastic experience at MW Restaurant. We loved the warm service, the inviting ambiance, and the outstanding food—we tried several dishes, all delicious—and enjoyed a great bottle of wine with our meal. We even took one of their amazing desserts home because we couldn’t resist. Chefs Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr-Ueoka bring incredible talent and heart to everything they serve, from bold, comforting plates to standout sweets. MW is the perfect mix of local tradition and modern flair. We left completely satisfied and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!

One of the hidden gems of Oahu, tucked into an exotic car dealership. The menu is amazing, where everything on it is honestly fantastic, and currently they are also offing a French inspired alternative menu in celebration of one of the Chef's mentors (I highly recommend the Duck L'Orange). Service is quick usually, and the staff are very knowledgeable. My only negatives are that it can be rather loud when it's busy, and some tables are a bit chilly sometimes. Valet parking is available, and be sure to check out the dealership's display of Michael Schumacher's Ferrari F1 car in the lobby!

When picked up the menu, you glanced thru everything and you think you know what to expect and you would be surprised. I did. I thought it's just fried fish and I was surprised. I thought I ordered shaved ice and I was surprised. I thought I ordered crab cakes and expected like what crab cakes like out there and once again, I was surprised. Crab cakes - I ordered the crab cakes, and it was excellent. It's not like those usual crab cakes where it filled with battered and have more starch than crab meat. This one is all crab meat inside. My wife ended up ate 2/3 of them. Mochi salad with crispy chicken skin - I don't like salad but I thought I tried. The end result was I finished 70% of the salad because it was delectable. The dressing was spicy, but the persimmon sliced and the tomatoes with the greens were just perfect. I never thought I could like a salad that much. Short ribs - The meat fell off the bone... Well, there was no bone but it's definitely tender. Potatoes were nicely crisp and the foie gras was nicely seared. Mochi crusted kampachi - Surprisingly crunchy fish. Very fresh. This is one fine dine dish. Impressive. Strawberry shaved ice - It's not really shaved ice, it's more like shaved strawberries and the coconut tapioca was very good. So coconut-y. This is one satisfied fine dine experience. Very impressed that you find something with this quality in Hawai'i.

The best meal I’ve ever had! We did the chefs tasting menu and loved every course! They really know how to balance textures and flavors. Highly recommend the wine pairing as well. Blown away by both the food and the service! Highly recommend! If you are driving or getting a ride, follow directions given by the restaurant when you make the reservation, follow the signs to the 2nd floor parking garage. Alternatively, if you are on foot/dropped off on the block, you can get to the restaurant by going into Artizen and going up the glass walled staircase.

Our waiter Darren was very knowledgeable and friendly in providing recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the unagi butterfish, the paella, the kanpachi and the brûlée and everything was so fresh and full of flavor. We even received cookies as a parting gift!

Located inside a car dealership, this was my first time dining among millions of dollars worth of brand new sports cars. And it was a lovely experience of elevated local flavors in a fine dining establishment. I did the chef's tasting menu, and every course was delicious. My favorite was the opening appetizer, which contained caviar and egg. Their main specialty was the mochi kanpachi, and I really enjoyed it too! For cocktails, I had the Georgia O'Keefe and asked why it was named after a haole woman. Nomenclature wise, their other cocktail Lychee Hoo was actually a play on local culture, which made more sense. The staff asked around for me, but no one knew why. "Just use your imagination", the bartender said. "Like Georgia O'Keefe did." I had so much fun at MW.

A wonderful dining experience! Loved all the flavors and presentations. Service was great. Finding the valet parking was interesting as it is on the second floor - the restaurant's directions may seem unusual but they make sense when you get there.

A year later update: ate here again for our anniversary. Was absolutely outstanding really cheers to the husband and wife chef team they are caviar offering you are doing for the holidays was so unexpected - a delightful combination of flavours. As we’re all the dishes. Small restaurant serving delicious local dishes. Everything we ordered was really good. We found the food to be down to earth - creative yet showcasing the high quality ingredients and not overly complicated. Safe to say our favourite spot in Honolulu. Location is above a car dealership which made for awkward parking but no big deal. Is island hop just to come eat here. Service was excellent.

A thoughtfully crafted menu offering a wide variety of flavorful meals and drinks with friendly service. However I wish there were more mocktail options.

Been to many restaurants on Oahu over the last 8 years, and this one takes the cake! Menu is unique and comprehensive — there’s something for everyone — and the execution was flawless. Ordered 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, and 2 drinks, and every one of them hit the mark. Our favs were the dumplings, inari bombs, and the tenderloin! Our waiter Tyler was so attentive and gave us just the right amount of space. We’ll be back in no time!

Ok I have been to a LOT of good restaurants!! This one is the BEST! First it started a little different as it’s in a high end dealership. YES before or after you enjoy one of the best meals you will ever have, stop in and check out the Jaguars, Mercedes, Ferrari’s and more! Let’s get back to the food. We went for three appetizers and three different entree’s and two desserts! Most places do two of the three well but miss the mark on ALL 3! Well MW did it! AMAZING. I know I don’t do the best photos but you will be completely missing out if you do not eat here! The food was fresh, tasted unbelievable, and looked beautiful. Oh and it was PLENTY not too much and not small. It was perfecto. Lastly, everyone was super friendly and service was great.

If you have a special occasion, this is the place to go. We had a wonderfully pleasant evening which really had no low points. The ambiance was romantic and quiet and all servers were professional and knowledgeable. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairings. The appetizers were very creative and intriguing, each course was well cooked and high quality, and the dessert was something very fresh. At the end of the meal, they brought our birthday cake for my girlfriend, which was incredible. Overall, it was a faultless dining experience and I am so glad we found MW restaurant.

This was our #1 favorite dinner when my husband and i were visiting Hawaii. We were a bit skeptical due to the restaurant being in a car dealership, but extremely pleased we decided to make a reservation here. We did the 5 course tasting menu and were so happy. I think it was $130 per person. I'm pregnant, so i didn't get to do all the raw fish courses, but I was still able to have delicious substitutes. Every course was fantastic. They also gave us a delicious chocolate ganache cake for our Babymoon, which is why we were in Hawaii. They also gave everyone one of their signature cookies at the end of the meal. Im not sure if there was another room, but where we were seated, there were only about 16 tables. We will definitely be back whenever we get the opportunity to visit Honolulu again! I highly recommend this place!

Came in late for lunch on Wednesday and it was just us for most of it. The atmosphere was upscale and trendy. Our waiter John was attentive and very helpful. The menu was super easy, just the prix fixe lunch menu. The food was great! The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the yuzu salad dressing as very tasty as well. Coconut cream pie to top it all off. Really great price for the food, would definitely recommend.

This place was a maze to get to. We had to ask a security officer as it is inside a luxury car showroom. If you dine here try the tasting menu with wine pairings. It us the mist effective and efficient way to be blown away by complex tastes. The amberjack is the best dish on the menu.

T
Taiga Yamaguchi

My favorite restaurant in Oahu for the last 3 years. Their butterfish is the most tender piece of fish I have ever eaten in my life. The scallops are also cooked to perfection with a luxurious amount of seafood in the fried rice. My favorite dish in the whole restaurant however is their brulee. I have never experienced a dish that plays with flavor, texture, and temperature so much and so well. The most depressing part of the whole meal is the last bite of the brulee because the greatness has to come to an end.

N
N Y (Mango Sun)

The dinner menu was excellent and our service was great for a Friday evening. I loved my mochi brownie dessert with the signature Gin and Tonic cocktail and would recommend for a nice dinner. It’s a somewhat small dinner and brightly lit, so if you’re looking for a candlelight ambiance I wouldn’t recommend The location is literally inside the dealership building and there’s 2 ramps leading to the second floor. If you go on the one that’s gated, that’s the wrong side. The ramp is near the backend between the dealership and another building rather than the street ramp facing the stadium

We celebrated my husband’s 50th here this evening. It was the perfect choice! We opted for the set tasting menu and we shared a wine pairing since he wanted a Japanese lager. Dinner consisted of caviar on a soft-boiled egg, mochi-crusted kampachi, scallops, beef tenderloin and a crème brûlée over tapioca. Every bite was delicious. Our server, Alyssa, was cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable.

Fantastic food, great staff, exceptional ambiance. We did the tasting menu and everything was perfectly cooked, unique, and the wine pairing went well with each dish. The entire staff at MW was attentive to all of our needs and seemed genuinely happy to be working at the establishment. Our server Kyle has been with the restaurant for over six years, even before they moved locations. Can't say enough good things about this local and family owned/run restaurant. Thank you guys!

We were here for a bachelorette party dinner and everything was phenomenal. All the dish we ordered were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. The ribeye steak and braised beef melted in my mouth. Scallop dish was great, too, but the butterfish was my favorite. I don't usually like fish, but it was one of the best fish I ever had. They also had excellent cocktails and deserts. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Thank you so much for making such a memorable dinner for us.

E
Eric

Wow, such a wonderful dining experience! Not only was the ambience lush being surrounded by high end car dealerships, but the staff is very inviting and the food spectacular. The effort in each meal truly shines through, and the scallops absolutely rocked my world. This was by far the best restaurant we dined at while in Oahu, and I would definitely return. Hats off to the chef! Oh, and the cocktails were also incredible - even the non-alcoholics!!

B
Bill Melcher

The worst part of the restaurant is that it’s impossible to find. There is an associated cafe that closes early, so after 730 you need to find an entrance that is open through one of the car dealerships, then find a way to the third floor. Once there you can enjoy fine dining among the cars in the many show rooms that adjoin the restaurant. The restaurant is expensive. We had two drinks, one appetizer, one dessert, and two entries for a bit under $200. Everything was excellent, but realize that you are going to pay for it, and we didn’t order one of the many $60 entrees. My favorite was the butterfish.

First time tried the Testing Menu. Good deal. Too full. Couldn’t finish all dishes 😋 The best is our server. He overheard our conversation and gave us a surprised birthday 🎂 cake with candles. So touched!! We will definitely go back again soon.

R
Rodel Maulit

Celebrated my birthday here with my family and it could not have been more perfect! Their chef truly respects the artistry in his preparations. Flavors were outstanding and textures of every dish was purposeful and delightful. They also gave me a birthday banana-zucchini bread to take home. Needless to say, my tastebuds were thoroughly satisfied.

C
Chris Ellis

When you approach MW through the parking lot a wave of apprehension washes over you like 'is this the place?' Once you get over that, everything put infront of you is perfection on a plate. Even the cocktails are outstanding. Between 2 of us we shared 3 entrees and a salad and left pretty full and for half the price we were paying for less quality up in Turtle Bay. Great work guys!

MW Restaurant is another farm-to-table phenomenal foodie safe haven in Honolulu that is making such a buzz you have to go and treat yourself to a decadent meal from beginning to end. The savory local catch/grown apps & entrees, topped off with probably the most amazing desserts the island has to offer makes this restaurant the talk of the town. Please take time to look at the posted pics and really look at the love this restaurant puts into their food. The trademark of the 2 forks making an MW just shows their innovation, thoughtfulness and preparation they put into everything this restaurant has to offer The front of the house, the bartender and most of all their attitude in delivering a wold class dining service makes MW my favorite restaurant in all of Hawaii. Chef Michelle provided the finishing-touches to see how much we enjoyed our meal. It was truly honor and pleasure to meet her! Recommendation: Shaved Ice is the best on the island. No need for me to explain. You need to go there and try it yourself. I never have two desserts and had to have it twice. So fresh...so clean

We ate here on a Friday evening at 7:30 pm (we had reservations). The restraurant is located inside a building that has a lot a luxury cars (Ferrari, Maserati, etc). We had no issue with parking on the street right out front (allowed after 6:30 pm). You enter on the ground floor through Artizen by MW and take the elevator to the 2nd floor. We were seated very quickly. The staff was very friendly and our waiter Gio was great. He explained the menu items really well and offered recommendations. We started with an amuse bouche which was chawanmushi. It was a small bite and tasted great. My husband ordered 4 appetizers for dinner: duck quesadilla, unagi butter fish arancini, fried chicken, and seafood chowder. His favorites were the arancini and seafood chowder. We also shared the Kona lobster salad which I was highly recommend. The greens were fresh and lightly dressed and it paired really well with the Kona lobster salad (it's served chilled probably with a little mayo or something like that). I had the mochi crusted kanpachi for dinner, which Gio said was one of their most popular dishes. I can totally understand why! The fish had an amazing crunchy exterior but the fish itself was very tender and tasty. It was served with noodles underneath. I had the lilikoi creme brulee for dessert, which is Michelle's signature and it was outstanding!!! It is lilikoi creme brulee and underneath it had lilikoi sorbet, tropical fruit gummies, and haupia tapioca pudding. The whole thing was light and tasted amazing. I would highly recommend eating at MW restaurant and getting the mochi crusted kanpachi and lilikoi creme brulee.

Dinner at the MW restaurant, inside the Ferrari and Bentley building, was incredible. The restaurant is situated on the second floor of the building with their waiting area doubling as an upscale place to view the newest models. The interior is classic, yet modern and upscale decor. The dishes come in the expected smaller portion sizes, but their flavor density make up for their small form factor. While we were seated much later than our reservation, due to no fault of MW, the manager Kathy helped smooth over the situation with poise. The rest of the staff was equally professional and patient with my unruly group. The meals were impeccable and each was true to description. Pictures of the items my group ordered are below and as follows: - Five Small Bites - Mochi Crusted Kona Kampachi - Mochi Crusted Mrs. Cheng's Tofu - Dinner Teishoku - Lobster Scallop Medallion - Japanese A-5 Wagyu Beef - Brandt Brand Prime Grade Beef Tenderloin - Tropical Fruit Creamsicle "Brulee" - "Smores" - Banoffee - Valrona Buttermilk Chocolate Cake

I’ll give five start to MW Restaurant without hesitation. They contacted me frequently via text before the actual dining date to make sure everything is well-prepared. When we approached the receptionist they showing us great hospitality and welcome. We had a table with gorgeous view and they spared great spaces with each tables for COVID-19 protection. We ordered different cocktails, three appetizers and three main course, of course we can’t get rid of desert to get a happy ending.

We ate here for a client dinner while in Honolulu. Wasn't the easiest to get to as the Uber app kept taking us to the old location but was worth the wait. The staff was great and the tasting menu was exquisite. Will definitely be going back on my next trip out.

We ate dinner here 1/28. The service was top notch from our server Tyler. I had a cocktail from the bar and it was fabulous. The crab cake appetizer was great. I had the miso buttermilk fish entre. It was the best fish dish I have had in a long time. Perfectly cooked. For desert we had the Brulee. It was delicious too. Each layer was a surprise. Then we were surprised with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. I made that note on our reservation. It really was a great gesture by the restaurant and I won't forget it. Please note: the restaurant is shares it's building with a car dealership. There is also an elevator you might use, but it's located in a ground floor restaurant. Anyway they offer valet car service that makes it all simple for you if you drive. There is hella limited street parking, i.e. none.

Willing to pay more for the best poke nachos on the island. MW is definitely more upscale, but not pretentious at all. I come with my friends and share a bunch of appetizers. Delicious! The staff are always professional. The restaurant is so clean with a nice view.

We are visiting from San Diego and wanted a nice dinner in a spot that did not feel touristy. This was an incredible find. Service was exceptional, food was not only delicious but it was perfectly timed. Alyssa, our server, made excellent recommendations and was so sweet and engaging with our baby. The entire staff was so friendly. When we left, my husband and I were saying that this is definitely one of the best restuatants we have ever been to. We can't wait to come back to Honolulu just so we can visit the MW again.

S

We had a good experience at MW restaurant. Not the easiest place to find as it's strangely located inside the second floor of a building comprised of luxury European car dealerships. The service staff were very accommodating, especially with making last minute changes to our reservation and being considerate with our toddler. The menu was mostly general crowd pleasers, but nothing super creative or ambitious, which, given the price point, may make it seem a bit underwhelming for some. I left feeling like we had a good meal but I would not go out of my way to go back.

I had a wonderful experience at MW Restaurant. I loved the warm ambiance, great drinks and delicious food, I tried their shortt rib and Foie Gras wonton andthe Mochi Crusted Kona Kampachi with was impressive. First night in Honolulu, I think I am going to love it.

Note: I am reviewing this as a fine dining restaurant, relative to other fine dining restaurants I have been to. Compared to a normal restaurant, this is certainly a 5 star experience. I went in for the tasting menu at open, and had a reservation for the bar. The location is kinda weird, being right next to auto dealerships. I hope that the savings from location rent are passed onto the consumer. I did the 5 course tasting menu; however, I forgot to take a picture of the tenderlion. They accommodated my shellfish allergy, and did a substitution which I appreciated. The food was excellent, certainly showed off the quality of the chefs and was on par with what I expect from chefs claiming experience at the French Laundry. My only complaint on the food was with the first course, which was a soft boiled egg with caviar and wasabi. At the end it just became too eggy, I wish there was more depth of flavor. I got the wine pairing, which I would not recommend for others to get. The wine was fine, and I assume being on Oahu it's not as easy to get the quality wine I am used to in places like California. The cocktail menu seemed good, and the other patrons were enjoying them. So I would use the money on the wine pairing to get 2 or 3 cocktails instead. Overall. Great food, certainly a good option for a celebration or just enjoying fine dining in Honolulu. The chefs clearly know what they are doing and I wish them success in their future endeavors!

TASTING MENU FUN! I always love a good tasting menu. Tried this spot on our anniversary while traveling. Great spot. The mochi crusted fish was incredible. Service was strong but not fine dining. Our waiter was awesome but the overall culture is not one of fine dining. One of the unique aspects of this restaurant is that it is literally inside of a Ferrari and Bentley dealership. You have to navigate the parking garage with bad signage to find the valet for the restaurant. we had to ask for help a couple of times. The tasting menu was really strong with great flavors woven into some traditional dishes. Some of it seemed a little over-the-top while others were spot on. Overall we were impressed but felt like the experience overall to price balance was a little off.

Delicious!! Decided to come hear after hearing Nobu was closed. We did the 5 course tasting menu for 110.00. Which everyone had to order and the wine pairings. Amuse bouche was great. 5 small bites yummy. Mochi crusted Kampanchi OMG so crunchy with the amazing ponzu sauce Brandt Prime rib tender and meaty. To be honest the lobster was my least favorite but that's only because the other dishes were so amazing. Dessert was 😋 with the tapioca and jelly in the brulee Food was stellar and 5 stars. I had to drop a star for service which was just okay. Hoping they recover from Covid so that their servers have more time to give a little extra added TLC like checking up on you more often and taking time to describe food and wine pairings. A lot which was just dropped off at our table while someone hurried away. Waiter was MIA most of the meal. Will definitely return again because food was so good.

I have been here 2x. The first time was underwhelming (I ordered the paella, oysters, cheesecake and the lychee yuzu drink.) This second time they made up for it. I ordered the risotto, fish dip and black forest cake, Their valet parking is $6 but always crowded. Worth the visit for their customer service and tasty food.

This was our first time dining at MW and overall we had a very good experience. We had the tasting menu and it was delicious. The smoked ahi amuse bouche was an excellent way to start the meal. That was followed by 5 small bites appetizer, mochi crusted kampachi, Kona lobster, Brandt beef tenderloin and finally the signature brûlée. The food was excellent. The standout dish, to me, was the kampachi. Crispy on the outside, moist inside, and perfectly seasoned. My only knock would be the service which I felt could have been better. Not that it was bad by any means, but it just wasn't stellar. There were times our wine pairings or food weren't described in detail or at all (i.e. here's your prosecco, bye). I feel that anytime you get a tasting menu the food and wine pairings should be described well to enhance the dining experience. Overall, a very good experience and we will return the next time we are in Honolulu.

Lots of hype about this place...some of it deserved. We expected more but weren't really all that disappointed. The best were the mushroom side dish, the "shave ice " dessert, and the ceviche appetizer. I had the hokkaido scallops, my wife the mocha crusted tofu. Both were good. Expensive.

Food and Service was great. It was a little expensive for what you get. Entrees ranged from $45 to $75 each. 5 adults came out to $630 including 20% tip. All had a drink, appetizers and dessert with the meal. Still had an enjoyable dining experience.

This place was amazing when I went in June 2021. Every dish was delicious. For the New Year’s Eve dinner, it was not as exquisite. The 5 small bites for the New Year’s Eve menu was more delicious than the regular tasting menu. The egg was also really good. Sadly, all of the other dishes were not as good as the original tasting menu. The wagyu beef for the New Year’s Eve menu was so unbelievably salty. It was so salty I couldn’t even finish it. I wish I could give this place a higher score but for how disappointment I was in the New Year’s Eve menu, I’ll have to give it a 3. I still recommend trying this place, the regular tasting menu though.

First time at the newer location. I remember great food and service at that old location. Requested to sit at the bar with my group. Ordered crab cakes, caesar salad, shrimp with toast, and scallops over fried rice (not pictured). Crab cakes and caesar salad were good. Unfortunately, since the dishes were dropped off with little explanation; I found the shrimp with toast difficult to eat. The fried rice that the scallops sat on was just inedible; mushy and bland. The rice offered nothing to do the dish. I will admit that the drinks were very good. I remember from my first experience the desserts were delicious. My party ordered the candy bar. While it tasted good, I didn’t like that the ice cream was pretty much half melted and the candy bar fell apart trying to cut into it. At least it still tasted delicious.
