Down The Street – Chill Vibes & Great Eats Had an awesome time at Down The Street! The food was great, the IPA hit the spot, and playing bingo made the night even more fun. Perfect place to relax and enjoy good company.
Down the street is a neighborhood gem. It's chill and comfortable atmosphere paired with good drinks and good food make it a go to destination. A large pet friendly Patio as well as the indoor area give you a variety of options to sit and enjoy watching a game, catching up with friends, or just enjoying the day. Friendly and welcoming staff just add to the great experience.
Bartenders were amazing. Bartender from Mexico and a young woman (recommended the smash burger meal) provided great service for my first night in Houston from New Jersey. I’ll be back here for sure next time I’m in Houston for sure.
Went after the marathon, during playoffs, so it was busy! But the line to order drinks was orderly, and the staff went as quick as they could with a smile on their face. Burger was real good, as were cauliflower bites.. the one con: parking is incredibly difficult: limited lot and street not conducive, so maybe ride share.
We love everything about this place. It is the perfect spot to go any time and to celebrate any occasion. The food is great but one of our favorite things is just go for drinks and appetizers and seat outdoor. I love that people bring their dogs. Wish more neighborhoods will have options like this one.
Down The Street is a reliable gem that captures the best of Houston's relaxed neighborhood dining scene. It's a fantastic spot for brunch, a weekday happy hour, or a casual dinner. If you prioritize a great outdoor space, friendly service, and creative comfort food, this place is a must-visit.
Cool spot that evolves as the evening progresses. Happy hour is pretty good with several different style of drinks on special. Parking can be an issue with the limited spots. Inside and outside seating typically available.
Just can't beat it. Atmosphere is amazing. Love having a bar in the neighborhood. Food is amazing, they have great beers. Only place I think they could improve is their cocktails. They aren't awful but I think its just something that would set them up to be even better than they already are.
Perfect bar for the neighborhood. Great place for a chill night or even cute date night. Bartenders are awesome 👌 especially Jess. Food is on point and their well is no bottom barrel liquid. Patio is a chill spot to be on these cooling autumn nights here in Houston!
Super cute spot! Food was great- we had the Texan pizza, and the truffle fries. I tried a Carajillo, which was tasty for my first drink. After that I had white wine. Their margarita was good too, and the Stella Artois was cold but a little light in color. The outdoor seating had a great vibe! Bathroom was clean and private! We will be back!
Okay this awesome place is very hidden in a neighborhood! I just found it trying to look for a nice patio to enjoy the weather and we are so glad we did find it because it's perfect! The place is massive with plenty of seating inside and outside, they have TVs everywhere and the bar is huge with plenty to pick from. Very clean and organized. The food is ordered at the bar and the food comes out fairly fast and is absolutely delicious. The drinks are yummy as well, my favorite was the sangria! We really enjoyed it and can't wait to be back.
We were a group of eight looking for a Sunday brunch spot that allowed dogs. I called this place and they happily accommodated us! The vibe was very relaxed, and the coffee & alcoholic drinks were praised across the table. Our food was delicious and delivered promptly. We had a great visit and would highly recommend this place!
We visited this bar coming back from Houston home. So we just ate and didn't drink anything, they have plenty of beverages on the menu though. The parking is quite small for such bar. We were there in the afternoon and it started to be crowded little by little. It's located in a quite cute district. Patio is very cozy, it has different kinds of seats. They allow you to use their Off sprays, you can take them on the patio. I believe it's beautiful when it's dark. Oh well, we will need to come back there for sure. There's an incredibly cute thing: a washing tub for dogs outside the bar! The service is very pleasant. And the main part, the food: it was just amazing! We had Margherita pizza, Rustic pizza and took some Truffle fries for eating in the car. Pizza base is crispy, it doesn't leave you with heavy stomach. They use truffle oil for a lot it seems, and I really love that part! Good job, guys!!
This has got to be one of my top bars at the moment. To me it’s all about the calm, not rowdy, but still moving environment.. if that makes sense. Found this place when I was looking for something in that trait list. Come to find out… for being a bar even… they have some of the best wings I’ve had in a long time.. great drinks by the way.. but you must definitely try their food. It is unreal. Bartenders are always very friendly and don’t try to rush you on your order. I think that’s what every bar should be about! Let people take their time with their orders. You won’t lose money. You attract more customers if anything. Didn’t want to post this review because I wish this place would stay low-key but it does deserve recognition.
It's such a cool place. Met my dad here for birthday drinks and ended up having a really enjoyable time. The atmosphere is relaxed but still popping. Staff was nice, helpful, and happy to help you pick a drink that fits your taste. The food was delicious. We got the special that night, which happened to be steak and potatoes. It was yummy, no one left a bite on the plate. I will say, that I don't think the drinks were strong enough for the price but they were tasty.
Overall a nice neighborhood place. Comfortable atmosphere, good friendly service, some drink specials and the food is always good. Even the French fries are tasty and the porch is dog friendly. Can be touchy finding parking.
Cool spot with a good atmosphere. Plenty of seating and a lot of TVs. Several of the TVs couldn’t get to the right channel on game night, but one of them could. Seemed like it was given up and TVs left off. Smash burger isn’t a smash burger but a decent cheeseburger. Chicken sandwich didn’t have much flavor and couldn’t see beer list outside had to go inside. Service was quick at the bar
What a cute little casual bar that is walkable from my cousin’s place! Their food was surprisingly really good. Their truffle fries were the best, and the queso and pretzel was also very tasty. I had their strawberry basil rita was fresh and light. The offer happy hour until 7pm so get there before then if you can!
My friend found this cute neighborhood spot online while visiting Houston. We arrived a few minutes after they opened and they were busy. There was no host and only 2 servers at the bar trying to handle everything. I originally ordered a dish that was supposed to be a French toast, but it was not good. The toast was super sweet and drenched in syrup. It was topped with fresh fruit that had a sweet cream drizzled all over-talk about sugar overload. I asked the server a bit more about the dish before ordering and she what she described was not accurate. After an attempt to eat the sugary dish, I took it back. She accused me of eating half the dish, when half of the toast was only eaten and some of the fruit. The bacon was still in tact. The waitress takes my dish to the manager in the back, and after a few minutes she comes back with the dish saying my dish could not be returned. Because the turnaround was so quick, I asked to speak with the manager. Visibly frustrated at this point, she goes on a search for the manager, but not in the back where she supposedly searched minutes ago. In walks a guy who looks like he was just coming to work and she speaks to him. He allows me to exchange my dish, I thank him, but offers a reprimand of sorts on ordering next time. Excuse me! Needless to say, I will not be back. My friends enjoyed their dishes and my lavender infused latte was good, but not enough for a return visit. Down the Street is a cute, quaint spot, but they could stand a few lessons in customer service.
I had a very bad experience. My food never arrived. When I tried to cancel or find out what happened I was accused of being rude and disrespectful I was simply asking what had happened and corrected him (Josh) when he said there was an number mix up, which was not true because a colleague had previously shown me the correct order. I was ignored, disrespected and mistreated. No client should ever be accused while the waiter victimizes himself. He did not apologize for the poor service and I never got my food or my money back. Will never step foot in there again and advise not to go.
My birthday reservation was cancelled just two days before my event—even though the invitations had already gone out. I originally made the reservation in person, but when I called later to confirm, they didn’t have it, so I had to make it again. Weeks passed with everything confirmed, and then—just two days before my event—they call me to cancel; Kevin said it was an “internal miscommunication” issue and that unfortunately they couldn’t honor it due to the volume of customers they expect on Saturdays. The fact that they preferred to cancel on a confirmed customer just two days before the event is honestly unbelievable. I’m not sure if it was incompetence or if they simply didn’t like my last name. This place used to be good, but after an experience like this, I won’t be returning. Also, please address the parking situation—cars park right on the corner of the intersection, and it’s a public safety issue that could easily cause an accident.
