This place is hidden gem. Good portions for the price. Delicious food. Love it
Tried this place on my lunch break today and it was so good!🤤 I got dabeli, Manchurian and a sweet I know as siro but it’s called something else here. The food was SUPER SAVORY, FRESH and very generous serving sizes! Definitely coming back!🙌 The lady at the desk was super sweet and helpful too☺️
This is seriously the best Southern Indian cuisine in all of Cypress and Houston hands down. I've been fortunate enough to live close for the past several years and it was a blessing everyyine I walked through the doors. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I moved away and realized ball the other restaurants don't even come close when it comes to quality of food or the service. ALL THE DOSA'S ARE QUITE LITERALLY THE BEST IVE EVER HAD. THE SAMOSA CHAAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE EVERYTIME YOU GET IT. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE GREAT FOOD, WARM SMILES AND KINDNESS
I am definitely coming back. Food was flavorful and delicious. I did not know what to expect going in for the first time but I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t know what most of the food was so I will definitely be coming back to try it all. Wife and I ended up getting the veggie Biriyani and the Masala Dosa. Both were excellent. Then i saw the Bombay Sandwich. Had no clue what that was but when it came out it looked like the sandwiches that i see on youtube and tiktok that are made in India. This thing was phenomenal. Tasted great. Couldn’t even tell it was a vegetarian. Excellent food! Friendly Service! There is also a small sink in the corner so u can wash you hands which is great!
Keep it up. All the items are good. They have improved a lot. The good thing is that they serve the food in steel plates and pots, not like other few shops who serve in disposable ones.
Home made flavor. Decent prices. Couldn't ask for more. Pav bhaji - phenomenal Sabu Dana vada - super crispy on the outside, just perfectly soft on the inside Masala Dosa - churneys are one of a kind
My first visit but the food is amazing, and full of flavor. My father is a regular, but I will be too after seeing the impressive array of options. We both ordered masala dosas, and I tried the chat samosa. The masala dosas are huge and were delicious. Chat samosa was terrific. All the sauces were delicious. The restaurant is very clean with a nice atmosphere, super friendly people who own this and it’s clear they have regular customers. You know it’s a good sign when Indians come with their families. I was super impressed, and can’t wait to try all of their other dishes. Very affordable and good sized portions. If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine I this is an absolute must try. This place deserves 5 stars ⭐️, and I’d give them 10 if I could!
We had an amazing meal here! The dabeli was the star — packed with flavor, crunchy peanuts, and perfectly soft bread. The samosa was crispy and fresh, just the way it should be. I tried the chikoo shake and it was incredibly refreshing — not too sweet, just right. My kid loved the dosa, which was soft and satisfying. We also tried the upma, and it was fantastic — light, flavorful, and comforting. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves authentic vegetarian food!
Writing the review based on my multiple visits to this place and each time the experience got better. They truly bring the rich diversity of Indian flavors to life. Their Gujarati Thali is a standout, offering a balanced meal that combines a variety of dishes with perfectly spiced vegetables, dal, rice, and soft roti, capturing the essence of traditional Gujarati cuisine. The samosas are crisp and golden, with a savory potato filling that has just the right kick of spices. Dosas are served fresh and are delightfully crisp on the outside with a tender interior, paired with vibrant chutneys and sambar that enhance every bite. Their upma is a comforting, fluffy semolina dish, ideal for a hearty start to the day. Parathas are generously filled and served piping hot, with each bite bringing out a wholesome taste that feels just like home-cooked food. Chaats at Raj Bhavan are as delightful as any found on the streets of India, bursting with tangy, spicy, and sweet flavors that hit all the right notes. For drinks, the lassi is refreshingly thick and creamy, balancing flavors perfectly with a hint of sweetness, while the chai is aromatic and brewed to perfection, adding a comforting touch to the meal. They offer an authentic taste of India, making it a must-visit for anyone passionate about quality Indian vegetarian cuisine. Edit: I just tried their Uttapam. It is so so delicious. Every time you go there, you get the best service and food.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Raj Bhavan an Indian vegetarian restaurant that truly transported me to the vibrant streets of India. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The menu offered a diverse range of options and exceptional food, the service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our server took the time to explain each dish and made recommendations, ensuring we had a truly personalized experience.
Definitely reccomend, it's great food that doesn't take stupidly long to come out. Food: We ordered the Vada Pav, Chole Bhature, Mysore Masala Dosa, Special Combo Dosa (Masala dosa with one vada and one idli), and had falooda, rasmalai, and Kaju Anjir shake for dessert The vada pav was ESPECIALLY good. Possibly in the top 3 vada pav I've ever had. The amount of chutney they gave was perfection. The pav was slightly crispy, so you could get a subtle crunch in each bite. Ultra satisfying. I was too busy eating it to get aesthetic pictures... The chole bhature was authentic too. Great flavor! Spicy too. Too spicy for me, but I have a weak spice tolerance. Anyone used to typical Indian cuisine won't have a problem. Very nice chole. The special combo dosa was great, but the vada wasn't completely cooked. Slightly doughey, It wasn't fun to eat. The idli was better, and was amazing the the tomato chutney (which I loved btw). The coconut chutney wasn't all that special, but it wasn't unpleasant in the slightest. The sambar was good, as expected. Not the best I've ever tried, but I wouldn't turn it down. Mysore dosa was the same, spicier (obviously) and really really tasty. I loved the texture of the dosa. THE RASMALAI IS CRAZY. Highly recommend!!!! Really really really good. I love rasmalai and it was perfect, not too sweet and not soggy. I actually typically hate nuts on Indian sweets, but thankfully they turned it into little slivers. I don't even like sliced almonds, but the little slivers were small enough for me to appreciate the flavor without having texture problems. Perfect taste! I didn't like the Kaju Anjir shake but that's most likely because I hate figs and dates. The falooda was perfect though. Food was all in all a solid 4.6/5. It didn't take overly long to come out, and I'm saying that after being super hungry and impatient when I walked in. Service was also nice. I appreciate that they leave extra cutlery and small plates, because me and my family share food a lot and need extra plates. It's nice we didn't have to ask. The place was clean and so was the cutlery. No complaints there.
OMG! I am so impressed with the taste of everything we ordered. The Amul Cheese Chilli dosa with masala was on point. The masala was not bland at all, it had great taste. The vada pav, almost close to the vada pavsi had in Mumbai. The Ragda lattice chat was as good as what I had in Chor Bazaar, Koti, Hyderabad.
Wow, so many options! First time here and will come back! Party of 3, but feasted for 6. Not sure what we ate, we ordered what we saw others eating and what staff recommended based on our food preferences. Appetizers and Entrees were flavorful and colorful. Definitely a fun food experience for those who love trying new foods!
Been here couple of times already over the last 18 months. Keep visiting this restaurant when I am in town, visiting family in Houston. Anyways, my recent trip was disappointing. Service was slow, food took I think roughly 25 mins after we ordered. And parathas were just too hot. Had to wait 10 mins to cool down. My fingers burned. But, otherwise in other earlier visits, my express much more positive
Today was my third time here. First time, i had the masala dosa to go and i was recommended the murukus on the counter. I was thrilled at how the masala dosa was packed to go. They had the good sense to pack the potatoes separately and the dosa was rolled to perfection. I cannot remember which chutneys were accompanied by the food but the sambar was just memorable. I even stored the remainder in my freezer so i could have them with my own breads at home for the week. The murukus were just nice in spices and flavour. I could not get enough of them after the first time and have kept coming back for those specifically. Today i found out from the lady ( at the cashier, most likely owner - it slipped my mind to ask her good name at that moment) that it was her mother making them and there's about four left till her mother returns! I am rationing them so i have enough till then because It is a long drive from where i am to this place. I cannot say much about dining in because we have just had my orders to go. Wishing your mother safe travels and hopefully this place opens up all over TX for others to enjoy. Always have room for improvement so i have to give four stars, plus would not be realistic for a five since we haven't tried dining in.
Nice and friendly place but not attentive. The restroom is not up to the mark - 3.5/5. The plates and spoons are closer to how food is served back home, which is nice. Dahi Puri - 5/5 Nice and tasty. 5 pieces came to a plate. Lemon Juice - it is a combination of lemon, ginger and some other ingredients. 2.5/5 Chole Bhature - 4.5/5 it was nice and tasty. I think the oil was a bit old. Mysore masala dosa - 3.5/5 it's too crunchy. We asked for the tea after the food but it came out before the food. Would visit them if I get a chance to try to taste rest off the menu.
Raj Bhavan is a decent alternative to Shiv Sagar (Hillcroft and Southwest Fwy) for those of us in Cypress, TX! I visited this restaurant recently with my sister and brother-in-law, and we had a delightful experience. We tried Pav Bhaji Dosa (Perfectly balanced flavors, crisp dosa, and Bhaji on the side), Chole Bhature (Soft, fluffy Puri/Bhature paired with well-seasoned chole) and, Gujarati Thali (While some items were great, a few could be improved. Paneer curry was okay, rajma curry wasn’t mashed properly, and the gajar halwa wasn’t cooked to perfection (milk residue at the bottom). However, the dal rice was exceptional (5/5), and the roti reminded me of home – easily a 100/5) Overall, I’m giving this restaurant a solid 4/5. It’s definitely going to be my go-to spot whenever I visit Houston, and my sister and brother-in-law (Cypress residents) are already planning to return! Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Vegetarian Indian food nearby.
Restaurant is always filthy, if dining room is filthy imagine kitchen is gonna be worse . Three employees standing at front counter busy with their own phone. No hi No thank you . Order three different chat dish all taste same . Give them so many chances . Looks like they don’t care .
A pretty mediocre restaurant. Their snacks and chats are okay while any mains are definitely not good. Not sure how everyone was quiet about the food when dosas, sambar and chutney were bitter and sour. Mooli paratha was too bland, uncooked and unfit for consumption. Definitely not worth the price or travel.
