Valley ranch barbecue is just off the hook! Crazy yummy! Family atmosphere and consistency. Value beyond measure. Everything on the menu is unbelievably good! Have you tasted their French fries!!! That chicken sandwich! Good God! The beef, the link, the barbecue sauce etc. etc. etc. etc.
Very close to top rated bbq, it's the atmosphere that gives Valley it's ratings. Ideal for families as there is a play area for kids and no alcohol service as of the time of this post.
We contact the restaurant for a funeral a celebration of life I have to say their manager went over and be on with their catering service highly recommend their food. It was hot everything you needed from cups to ice to silverware was in the box. I cannot say thank you enough for what y’all done for our family at hard times that we’re going through right now once again, outstanding job to this restaurant their food was amazing. They did take care of us and thank you guys.
AMAZING BBQ!!! Great flavor. The ribs were fall off the bone and the brisket was juicy and tender. My potato salad and pinto beans were great as well!!! Friendly staff, customer service was great and food was out fast! Glad I stumbled across this place!!! I will definitely be back!!!
I didn't dine in but the brisket and potato salad are wonderful! They are so good I've been back twice in two weeks and I plan on going again. One of my favorite BBQ places.
Update: we went back and the managers are amazing. They checked the ribs and offered fresh plates. We were treated with respect and always like family. That's what a Christian owned business looks like. Thank you! We've been eating here for years. The quality is up and down. The ribs today were overcooked and dry. Saturdays are typically very busy so that's likely the reason. Their green beans are amazing! Chicken and links are pretty good. You can get better bbq at other places. The service is excellent.
This is not a negative review but it's after hours and I can't reach anyone. I just picked an order and I'm missing Mac n cheese and peach cobbler. If someone could get back in touch with me regarding a refund for those items.
Christian owed been around for over 20 years, new building, fun to watch train go around restaurant. Great ribs, brisket was tinder but had to much salt and pepper on it, bbq sauce was good. Cole slaw was good, beans are so yummy in taste and flavor! Sweet tea was good. Peach cobbler was delicious! Staff are polite and helpful them make sure everyone got there order and leave with a smile and full belly. Nice place for a couple or family or church group even have a play area for kids. Nice and clean. Been a costumer sense I was a kid now I am in my 30's
I ate there for a meeting with Lone Star Santas. I had the chopped chicken baked potatoes. Potatoes was big and done right. Chicken was tender and flavorful. But I have eaten their ribs and brisket before and we're very good. I recommend Valley Ranch.
I love their 1/2 Lb cheeseburger; I get it all the time. I've had the beef ribs a few times and they were very good. But, the chicken? It is the best bbq chicken you'll ever have. Oh yeah, for a real treat, try the fresh onion rings
Excellent customer service, the manager checked on our large group several times to make sure everyone had what they needed. We ordered almost everything on the menu and had a family style dinner between 12 adults and 4 kids. The ribs were the first to go, some of the best baby back ribs I've ever had. The sausage, brisket, and chicken was also very good. They have a very unique sauce, I think I tasted a bit of cinnamon maybe. Unexpected but really worked well. They had a play area for the kids within the restaurant so we could keep an eye on them and not force them to sit at the table, very convenient. I'll definitely come back next time I visit Houston.
These guys have some of the best ribs around! Regular working dad can feed his 3 teenagers to the gills without taking out a loan on the house. My favorite part are the people. Even late in the day, everyone was happy to see us and the food was fresh as a daisy. The fountain and trains make it a great place to sit and have plenty to chat about. 10/10 recommend
The ribs are consistently great. the brisket is delicious. The onion rings are a very ample serving and cooked perfectly. I almost forgot the sausage, excellent.
Moved to Houston 3 years ago and I have yet to find a bbq spot I really enjoyed and wasn’t so expensive . Decided to try y’all out last night and OMG the food was deliscious! Hands down on the brisket! My craving was completely satisfied, and the drive thru service last night was on Point! Very convenient since my husband had just got out of work and he really didn’t want to get off and fine.He woke up today and heated up his left overs 😄 we will definitely be coming back
I highly recommend their stuffed meat potato. Lot's of meat! And their BBQ sauce is really good. I had the peach cobbler with ice cream and it was sooooo good! I might want to stop in sometime just for dessert!
Potato salad was the best I have had in a LONG time! Onion rings are bland though. I got the half pound burger and it was delicious. We will definitely be back here and the train and pond are adorable! They also have an adorable little spot for the kids to draw with chalk and multiple toys!!
Their food has changed through the years since all the old staff has all left. Food was better back then but still good now. Their ribs are definitely an addiction. Side orders are amazing. The little play room they have for the kids is awesome. Family oriented place. One of my favorite bbq places.
It’s so beautiful inside! Very clean and loved the decor. I ordered their fish and it was amazing! Every bite full of flavor. I will definitely be coming back to this place
Quality of the barbecue is excellent in the atmosphere is very enjoyable. Staff are friendly and efficient.
Sunday was a very busy lunch, the staff did their usual great job and kept the line moving. The food was first rate as usual, chicken platters with green beans and cole slaw. Minor issue was they were using smaller platters for the meat, don’t know if it’s a permanent change or they ran out of the larger ones Sunday. The point is they cut their chicken breast / wing pieces in odd shapes that made it harder to eat. Hope it’s not permanent. Otherwise, keep up the great food and service!
Had lunch here recently and really enjoyed it, the link sausage and ribs tasted great . Friendly staff and great atmosphere as well. Will definitely visit again.
Awesome Texas BBQ restaurant! Loved the interior decor and atmosphere!
First time here and had a great experience! Everyone working was so nice and even gave us samples before we ordered. Ribs were amazing, as well as the green beans and apple cobbler! Our young daughters loved the fountain and the train - and the fried ice cream! We will definitely be back!
We dined in with a party of 12. The quality of food was great, prices were fair and the staff was excellent. The atmosphere was fine minus the noise from the waterfall but otherwise we enjoyed everything! The chicken fajitas are my favorite. I know that sounds odd for a bbq place but try them - you won’t be disappointed!
Legitimately the best smoked turkey i have ever had. Amazing.
Been going here for over 10 years with my family and the ribs have never been beaten. The atmosphere is really cool and the train is always a treat. Please don't hesitate to try it and ask of center cut ribs if you want the best slices.
Food was great and filling slaw great ribs great sauce good First time there atmosphere good AC good comfortable Price like everyone else Overall I will be back
Valley ranch has been here since I moved to Houston in the early 2000's. Not only is the management one of a kind in today's day and age, but the food is also. Service is great and you don't ever have to wonder if you're getting quality over quantity here! They give you quality food without skimping on the quantity. 100000/10 recommend and this place will always be a go to when I'm in town throughout my future! Give them a try. You won't regret it if you're looking for anything a BBQ restaurant has to offer.
Great Burger for a BBQ place. 1/2 lb patty a buttery bun that you can put your own fixings on. I added cheese and bacon. Delicious. Really enjoy thier French Fries to. Has pepper on them.
I stopped in for work. The manager gave me a sample. It was outstanding very flavorful. A lot of smoke most places I go to you has no flavor or anything. I loved this one.
Been coming here for years, doesn't disappoint 👌🏼
Normally perfect but today many issues. Ribs tasted weird, not good. Sauce was yucky. Weird, right? Usually good. Tea was awful. What happened? Maybe needs cleaning? Manager guy very nice. Brisket great. Pickles good. Potato salad a little weak. Green beans great. Mac and cheese was soupy, and the noodles not cooked all the way i heard
This place is a local landmark. Awesome dining room, with a waterfall and a cool model train that runs around the edge of the room. Service is always prompt and friendly, whether you dine in or use the drive through window for take out. Food is good. Their turkey is excellent, and a great option around holiday seasons if you don't want to cook. Burgers are good. My kids love the sausage. The ribs are tasty. The onion rings are really good.
Great BBQ joint. Typical set up and appearance. Everything was hot plentiful, and tasty. Good job.
I had an incredible experience at this barbecue spot! The food was absolutely delicious, with tender, perfectly smoked meats that practically melt in your mouth. The ribs were full of flavor and cooked to perfection, while the brisket was juicy and packed with a rich, smoky taste. The sides were just as impressive, with the coleslaw and baked beans complementing the meal wonderfully. The service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere really gave off that perfect, down-home barbecue vibe. If you’re a fan of great barbecue, this place is a must-visit! I’ll definitely be back
Hands down, my favorite BBQ place around. I know Tomball has their hidden gem off of 2920, but Valley Ranch never disappoints! Quality BBQ, no matter the time of day! Plus, the restaurant is so cute and the atmosphere is homey.
GREAT as usual. Been going there off & on, since we live near Katy, TX, almost since the slab was poured!
It's been 20 yers since I've eaten here. Still the same delicious BBQ, from the brisket, ribs and pulled pork and sides. The memories match the flavors I remembered. Very satisfying!!!
One of the absolute best BBQ restaurants around. I eat here regularly.its fair priced for great quality food. Service is good and staff is friendly.
Surprisingly one of the best burgers in town. 3/4 pounds. Awesome onion rings too. Give it a try. Update: burger can be hit and miss, but their turkey is always so tender and delicious. That's my go to. The dining room is so cool, with a waterfall and a model train that runs around the entire perimeter.
Ribs are super tender! Green beans are fresh & bacon seasoned just right. Stuffed potatoes tender, but a bit short on fixings; though, they are gracious to give you extra! I ordered fried okra extra crispy and it was done right. BBQ sauce is heavy on cloves (I think it was cloves). I doctored it with ketchup and a squeeze of lemon. They offer Coke Zero and Cherry Coke!!!👍🏼 Fresh brewed tea. Real plates, utensils, (not paper or plastic) and drinkware. Very family oriented with play section for kids. As you enter, you can wash your hands & disinfect. How awesome is that! Note: In the picture, my husband had already eaten one rib and the meat mixed in to the potato.
Honestly, i have no idea, why there are negative reviews, if you reading this trust me this place is really really good. The food is very good, especially Brisket, ribs and turkey platter, and huge baked potato, excellent prices for a family. The decor is very nice with waterfall, plenty of space, service was excellent, we paid and the food was already waiting to be picked up. It also has something not many restaurants have, a place for kids to have fun, kids playroom, so parents could eat in peace at least for a little. Overall, great place, highly recommend 👍🤗
This is the coolest BBQ place I’ve been to in awhile! As soon as you enter, they have a hand washing station, not to mention several hand sanitizer stations throughout the dining room. We ordered the stuffed baked potatoes, and they were extremely generous with their portions. They also have the best prices compared to other BBQ places nearby. The food was hot and fresh at 2:30pm on a weekday afternoon. The sauce is a little sweet. I wish they offered another variety that was more bold, but this will not stop me from returning. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The atmosphere is definitely unique in that there is a playroom for kids, huge water fountain, and an elevated model train that runs around the entire dining room. They also offer outdoor dining. I am definitely coming back to sample more of their menu options!
Everything about this place was A+. I loved the interior decoration especially the fountain that is near the entrance. My kids loved the toy train that runs around the restaurant above the dining area. Price points were good for the amount of food received. I enjoyed my plate. Great staff and customer service.
Tried it out the other night and liked it. Stop there because the traffic was so heavy at that time decided to get something to eat. Had the stuffed baked potato and it was just perfectly made and filled me up. The staff was friendly and one of the staff members came over and shot the breeze with us and she was very nice. Try it out, you'll like it. Good barbecue.
Rating 4.5 on my experience ordering to go. The beef was lean and seasoned to our liking. The meat was a 5 rating however the sauce was a 3. Little thin and a bit different. Need to also update the menu prices on the website. Overall a very nice meal and the employees seemed nice & accommodating.
Good location. The brisket was a bit dry for my taste although some people may like it that way. The link was delicious as were the green beans and the bbq beans atmosphere was nice and friendly staff
This is THE place to go for barbeque. The sausage has never disappointed me, the burgers are huge and very very good, and the brisket is really good. The only reason I didnt give five stars is because they changed the way they make their burgers recently and I can notice the difference. The staff is always in a friendly mood and is always nice. You can always call ahead and place your order, come in and pick it up, and that's it! Great restaurant.
Picked up the to go bag with 3lbs of meat and 4 sides. Seemed to be a decent deal overall, but won't feed 6 adults as suggested. The sausage links were pretty good, nothing too special. The ribs were very good, tender but not mushy, bones pulled out clean, great flavor. I also ordered moist brisket, it came out with good flavor but was definitely not moist. On to the sides. All 4 sides we ordered were good. Green beans and coleslaw were very nice. Potato salad good, but OMG the white cheddar Mac and cheese was amazing. Overall, the food was good, price was ok, maybe a little high. I would recommend this restaurant and will go back
They were out of the fried ice cream, which was one of the reasons we came. Not that big of a deal, but they waited until after we had paid and eaten our meal to tell us, oh yeah we don't have anymore. So they gave us banana pudding instead. Other than that, my sandwich was pretty good, and the fajitas were tasty as well
It wasn't very busy. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was quickly served plus hot. The amount of serving was a good value for the buck. The only con I have that will keep the review from 5 stars is, the brisket lacked seasoning and flavor. Salt n pepper may help out a little but it lacks that smoke flavor. The link sausage was better and the ribs were good. Overall, the establishment was good.
Decided to give the grilled fish a try and it was very good. The dirty rice was amazing! Who knew? Wife always gets the BBQ ribs which are delicious. The fries are still the best anywhere! Chopped beef sandwich is really good. For me, the BBQ sauce is a little too sweet. I like a tad bit more tang, but it's not bad and it's a personal taste thing. I gave the atmosphere 4 stars because it's quirky inside. It's a throwback to old highway restaurants from my childhood. Has a model train running around the restaurant, various animal taxidermy throughout, and a waterfall. Kids will love it.
The brisket, ribs, and sausage were great however, the barbecue sauce was not my favorite. The potato salad was good but the dirty rice was plain and bland. I absolutely love that you can serve yourself pickles, jalapenos, onion, tomato, lettuce, and bread. The barbecue sauce is also available if you need more. The sodas are also self serve. The service was great and fast. Very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the onion rings and they are good but not great.
I haven't been here in a while. This place has been around forever. The service is top notch. They treat their customers well. The food is not bad either. It is reasonable priced for a barbecue. After coming here tonight I remember why I haven't been there in a while. It's the sauce. I don't care for the barbecue sauce. It's too sweet for me. I like a manlier Texas style sauce. That's my only complaint. Other than that, it's all good here. I love the little train that is up in the Raptors. That's very cool.
Got the combo with ribs and brisket. Ribs were my favorite. Have a little sweet flavor to them, which was different but good. Brisket needed more smoke flavor. Potato salad was good and wife like the green beans (like my mum makes with bacon). Like that they require masks and that the place was clean.
My wife and I visited this evening for the first time. We ordered sliced beef sandwiches and an order of fries. The amount of beef on mine was fine, but hers looked like it came from Rudy's - not much to it. She asked for more beef and they added more without question. The fries were just warmer than room temperature, so we let them know and they made a fresh batch and brought them to us with an apology. The brisket that they used already had all the fat trimmed, which is fine for some people who like their beef lean, dry and lacking flavor. (Personally, I'd rather have some fat so I can get the flavor and moisture that comes with it. My favorite BBQ places will ask if you want it lean or regular and their brisket is much better.) The decor is nice and includes a waterfall, windmill, and a model train that runs overhead around the restaurant. Overall, the food isn't too bad for the price. If it cost more it definitely wouldn't be worth it. We may give this place another try in the future, or we may not. There are too many options in the area.
Not the best BBQ I've had in Houston. Ribs were dry and the brisket wasn't far behind. Corn was OK and the beans were very average. The staff was friendly and the "cafeteria" service was fast. The prices were good but I would rather pay more and get better quality food.
So sad, I guess it's time to move on from Valley Ranch. As a local, I have been coming since they first opened at their previous location. That's more years than I care to remember. Like every restaurant, they have had their strong and weak items on the menu but BBQ was always good and the BBQ beans alone would keep bringing me back. Today's visit wasn't the case. As others have noted, the price has greatly increased but the quality seems to have decreased and recipes changed. I know Covid has hit restaurants hard, closing some of my favorite haunts and cost of goods continue to increase. Hats off to them for still being open but for the prices they are now charging, the quality and consistency should be there. It's not. I can get better just down the road for the same money.
The beans and potato salad used to be great here. We would pick them up whenever we didn’t want to prepare sides for the bbq we cook at home. We haven’t picked up from here and a while but did this weekend and were disappointed to find out they’d changed their recipe. The beans were completely different and the potato salad still looked the same but something was missing with the flavor. Don’t know why they decided to change the sides but they were pretty far down the list of things that needed changing here.
1 star for food. 1 star for the family friendly ambience. Chicken was under season. Brisket was very dry. Potato had the dried brisket which made it bad. For a first time customer I would normally give them a second try but not this place. Changed it to 3 because the manager came out and had me try the pork ribs, which was really good
Very good beef and turkey. Had some corn on the cob and mashed potatoes with white gravy. The potatoes and gravy were nice, and the corn was well prepared and presented with sticks to use as hand holds. I found the barbecue sauce included to be overly sweet, with very little "kick"; it almost has an apple-filling flavor. Discount of 10% offered to HP and HPE employees.
The brisket, turkey, and chicken has decent flavor, but both were mediocre and dry. The iced tea and water had a funny aftertaste. Everything seemed like it had been sitting out a little too long. Nothing we had was really worth raving about. If all other restaurants around have lines on a Saturday night, this will at least stave off your hunger. But I would not return here unless they make significant changes.
I’ve read some pretty good reviews about VR on here. I’ve eaten here before it it wasn’t bad. But today, it was terrible. I was given the end of the rib, it was all bone a ligament, and almost no meat. It was also dry. The chicken was colorless, and not very fresh. The mac and cheese was a glob of mush. There was nothing left of the macaroni. The is possible the worst plate of bbq I’ve ever had. Super disappointed. I’m not sure what made tonight different than my other visits. But it was really bad.
I visited yesterday, October 10. We were initially attracted because Google’s rating was 4.4 star rating and the restaurant advertised a kids area. We ordered onion rings, corn on the cob, brisket, links, pulled pork and peach cobbler. I took one bite of the pulled pork and literally spit it into my napkin. Bland bland bland. It tasted like they boiled it in water and didn’t attempt to season it. One bite of corn, it was so mushy you bit into the cob. The brisket was even worse. I drown each bite in sauce but even the sauce didn’t have a good flavor. The only item that was ok was the sausage. This is the first time in a long time where onion rings AND peach cobbler were completely unappetizing. We left 85% of the food we bought on the tray and left. How is this restaurant rated 4.6 stars?! “Best ribs in Texas?” ... I’m going to guess the owner posted that. The only reason this is 2-star instead of 1-star was the price and the service. Moderately priced and the staff was cordial.
I haven't eaten here in years because the most dry and tough brisket I've ever had in my life came from this sad establishment. Hands down the worst BBQ I think I have ever had came from here. That includes amateur home cooking. Fast forward to today where I decided to give them another chance while I lied to myself thinking maybe "last time was a fluke". I ordered a rib plate and a brisket sandwich. My sides were good so I'll give them a star for that. My brisket sandwich actually had some decent meat as well. The flavor was a little off but at least it was tender. But my ribs good lord they were awful. I probably threw out 1/3 of the meat. The entire outside was completed burnt to a crisp. It was not edible. The meat under the charred outside was okay but the fact that so much had to be wasted really irked me. Bottom line is if you are spending good money on BBQ go somewhere else. Just go up to road to Rudy's. They aren't the best bbq but they are miles apart in quality compared to valley ranch.
Stopped going there due to poor quality of food and service about 2 years ago. Heard it got better from friends and it did for about 3 months. Now it's worse than before. I can not recall how many times we had to make a complaint about the order (drive thru). Long story short, I stopped going again. It's just not worth the trouble and waste of time and money. We were given 2 free meal tickets. I have them away. Decided I'm done with this establishment.
It was ok. My main complaint is that my food wasn't even warm by the time I got to my seat since we had to wait forever on fries. Even then, those fries were not all the way done. Portion size was nice though, just wish it would have tasted better and actually been warm. Not worth the price paid
Ordered 1/2 lb of slice beef no bark, moist and no fat. What I actually got was 99% fat, so much so that I couldn't eat $13 worth that it cost. This wasn't the first time this happened, but it will be the last time I go there. Waste of money. The hamburger my husband ordered was fatty too.
Purchased $75 of BBQ & sides at the drive-thru. They forgot the bread that was requested & the BBQ sauce had the consistency of water. Overall food quality was below average. They need to try harder...
The best part is the cute kids' play area. The food isn't worth the price. You're supposed to cook burgers with a little salt and pepper. But no seasoning at all, not cooked properly, bun wasn't good, bacon was the cheap stuff, and might have been turkey bacon or something. Fries were decent. Onion rings had no flavor at all. All the food was overly greasy. Comparing it to a Willies or a Texas Roadhouse, it just doesn't compare, but it's the same price level as those two. At least there's no server to tip at Valley Ranch, you get your own refills.
Their food was terrible! The ribs, the rice, and the mac and cheese was all cold, The food was undercooked and I took back the rice and got coleslaw which was even worse. The coleslaw was just cabbage and nothing else. The ribs were not tender. The Mac and cheese; the pasta was over cooked and mushy with no salt. The rice was cold and hard, so undercooked that it was crunchy. Never again will I eat here nor would I recommend this place. The service was par to none. Just flat out terrible! Not Texas BBQue!!! Do not spend your hard earned money here. It is not worth it!!!! Disappointed!!!
The pulled pork was ok, but the Mac and cheese was over cooked pasta with runny cheese sauce, green beans canned and not much flavor, and the BBQ sauce was bland. Not a good experience, at all.
$30 for a 3 meat plate with a drink. That’s high price for such low quality. The sauce and mashed potatoes were obviously watered down and thinned out. The ribs were ok, I’ve had better brisket from a gas station and the pulled pork was almost entirely from the fatty portion of the cut. Lacked flavor and the sauce was no help.
We ordered two chopped beef sandwiches, coleslaw, and french fries and it was $31. The sandwiches were disgusting. I’ve been there before and I really liked their barbecue but this last time was just gross. We only ate half of our sandwiches and threw the rest away. Total waste of $31.
Cold turkey, the mac&cheese was disgusting, the fries were the best food item but the soda was better. The pickles tasted off. The place looked sad and out of date. How is this place just opened whole the stickers on the fountain machine are old?
We have been going to Valley Ranch for the last few months after taking a break for a few years. At first it seemed they have made adjustments for the better. We would average 2-3 a month for visits. Today’s meal was one of the worst we have ever had. It is obvious the brisket, sausage, and turkey have been switched out to a lower quality of meat. I hope they have saved the money they were looking for as we will not be returning again! The pickup window women was very nice as always.
We were in the area, as a first timer, and I have to be honest.... the reviews are the very reason we came. However, we were quickly proven that those are not valid. The BBQ sauce is almost a ginger spice, very sweet also, vs savory. The meats were on the drier side and unfortunately, lacked flavor. The mac and cheese, tasted like textured water with a cloudy appearance. We got those exchanged for fries, the safest option but it didn't make up for our main entrees being completely underwhelming. I hate that I'm writing this, because the staff was truly the best part of this and their atmosphere is so warm and cozy. I really wish the food matched our experience.
