I drive by often and noticed it was a popular little spot with just a few tables to eat outside. I finally stopped in to check them out. Employees were nice and food was decent. I’m satisfied, especially because their menu is more reasonably priced than most places these days, reminding me of how affordable most taco shops used to be. Will return.

Its good food, especially the burritos. My girlfriend likes the shrimp burritos, I like the carnitas. The chile relano burritos are also very good, I little to much lettuce, I'd like a touch more beans, rice and sause. I have been here several times now always great food, I usually order a burrito or two, one for the road later. As of January 25th they are working on a new patio with what looks like plans to paint and re-roof the entire facility. I hope it goes well for the owner and keeps the employees happy. The outdoor eating area will be nicer for sure. Been back a few times, alway great food, if you eat there, there is a patio area, the is still hot and fresh. Try the Hobinaro sauce.

The best surf and turf in San Diego, in my honest opinion. Their chipotle sauce must be crafted by the gods themselves, because it blows away any I have ever had from any other restaurant! Ask for a sauce cup full of it and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Best fish tacos!!! When I got out of the car I was greeted by the best smelling food. It was everything I wanted. The pico de gallo and extra hot sauce with the amazing tasting fried fish is everything I could have wanted. I am sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything else in their menu is great. But when I go back, I will be getting the fish tacos again. I can't resist the draw of this incredible food.

It's literally some of the best food that I have ever had. I would recommend that if you don't know what to get on your first visit, start somewhere and visit it again and try another. You will not be disappointed. I used to visit 2 times a week when I had lived in the area. Anytime I am Imperial Beach, I make a note to stop here and get food. I still enjoy getting something at random here, it is all worth it any which way you look at.

This is our favorite Mexican food place, we ordered ahead over the phone and within 10-15 minutes our order was ready. I usually order the Asada fries with no meat and let me tell you it will instantly give you a flavorful taste. My kids love the fries with melted cheese. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Definitely recommend!

I stopped here for a quick bite to eat and found SUPER good/authentic food at great prices. I got the Carne asada quesadilla and it was extremely flavorful. I love their red salsa too. I could almost drink it. :p lol This spot is a 10 out of 10 for a fun bite to eat of authentic Mexican food. It is outdoor seating (I sat in my vehicle) but it is worth it.

Wow very good food to grab and go to the beach for sunset! Can't say how good it was enough. So good I didn't get any pictures of the food till it was gone. I'll definitely be back!

Everything I tried was amazing. The crispy tacos are out of this world. The steak tacos are flavorful and juicy. I will come back here every time I am in the area.

Really good food, has the California Burrito and it was monstrously huge, packed with a lot of asada.y parents had ranchera plates and again portions of meat were more than enough. No inside seating or restrooms which is why I gave it a 3 for atmosphere

I’m a loyal customer and come here often because the food is usually good. Unfortunately, my order is almost always wrong. I consistently ask for chipotle sauce inside my burrito, and it somehow gets missed nearly every time. I’m not sure if it’s a communication issue or something happening in the kitchen, but after ordering the same thing so many times, it’s frustrating to keep getting the same mistake. I don’t think I’m asking for anything complicated—just hoping the cooks can slow down enough to get the order right.

Oh. My. Gordito. 🤤 That was the best Pollo Asado burrito I've ever had. It was so chonky it could sit on its own hind legs. The red salsa was fabulous. Just the right amount of kick (I can be a baby with spice sometimes). I wasn't a fan of the green salsa because of the oregano, but my boyfriend loved it. We'll be back!!

My kid doesn't eat certain Spanish dishes despite being Hispanic. Immediately ate all the food. This is the spot to go to.

I am glad that I ran into this place while staying in Imperial Beach because the food is so good! My chimichanga had so much flavor and was very filling! The portions are very large, and the prices are very affordable! There was a line for pickup orders, so it took about 20 minutes to receive my order after placing it. I highly recommend this place.

So good! I am from the east coast and was in town for the weekend. I wanted authentic Mexican food and was told to go here by a local. It was SO GOOD! The food was cooked to order so it was hot. The beans are fully of flavor, I don’t even like beans and loved them! The taco itself was magical. It had flavors that we don’t get at the restaurants back home. I’m a culinary school grad with years of restaurant cooking experience. I love to cook and Mexican food is my favorite. This place had the authentic yummy flavors that only real Mexican places offer. I wish I could make this at home but it just wouldn’t be the same! I had the shrimp taco with guacamole added and my sister had the California burrito which she also loved.

I have eaten here several dozen times over the 30 years I lived in the neighborhood. Haven't been in a few years since I moved out of the neighborhood and quality and service were declining. Well I popped in the other day and was pleasantly surprised to have the best customer service I've EVER had here, which has always been where they fall short. Also my burrito was the best I've had from anywhere in a while. Only reason I knock off a star is because they changed their red salsa, they used to have the best in town but now it's meh.

I've been driving by this place since we moved in on the 18th of December. I always see tons of people out front waiting in line so I knew it had to be good. We finally went by for lunch the other day and omg it was awesome! I had the three mini carnitas tacos. They were just the right size little tiny handfuls stuffed full of tender delicious carnitas and topped with guacamole, diced onion, cilantro, and your choice of red or green salsa. I'm literally at the point where I'm making myself not go back just yet because I was just there. Also I got the Jamaica aqua fresca and it was very good. A little tart, a little sweet. Very refreshing.

Rated as some of the best California Burritos in the city from locals and social media. A very solid burrito with the tortilla being the best part for me. The carne asada was a bit dry, needed more seasoning. Added guacamole for extra cost as it does not come with. Which in my opinion is very much needed to help with how fries can dry out a burrito. Very good and cost is not bad either.

The roll tacks were great, but the Surf n Turf was alright. Little to no cream and too much rice. Felt like I was eating a rice burrito at one point. Although it did have great flavor towards the end after eating through all that rice. I think I’ll just ask for it without the rice and extra cream. Overall a great stop. No biggie, i ordered the #1 combo to test the waters. Ordered the combo and a drink for less than most places charge, which was a delightful transaction. Off the bat, my taco was already broken but still held on its own. The cheese enchilada was good, although it could've been a little more melty on the cheese. The rice and beans were good, not to dry not too soggy. The salsas were actually flavorful. Both red and green salsas weren't very spicy, but they have a hotter habanero (if you ask). Overall, it's an excellent place, especially the pricing of what you get for what you pay. I came in the morning, so it wasn't a packed. Good place to eat by yourself or with a couple of friends; but no large crowds Parking might be a little crowded.

Not bad but not great. Just middle of the road. Ya'll, you need to know ahead of time that these folks don't serve coffee!!! Service girl at window seemed put off when we were surprised they didn't serve coffee. Very average food.

The food is extremely mediocre compared to other taco shops in south San Diego. They don’t even use real guacamole (it’s just sour cream with a bit of avocado mixed in). After reading their responses to negative reviews on here I also see their business as being kind of rude and unprofessional. They should listen to customers and try to improve instead of trying to clap back when they receive criticism. Go to El Cino or Mike Hess the tacos are way better there.

Those who saw Don Poncho's has the best Carne Asada Fries they've ever tasted , probably have not eaten very many Carne Asada Fries. These were fine, nothing remarkable, and a decent portion size for the price. They could be enhanced if a there was a pico de Gallo or a cheese blend. The fries themselves do not taste fresh cut. We are out of towners who will probably look elsewhere for our next meal.

Been coming to this place for a while now. Last night it was a disappointing experience as when my wife tried placing a phone order she got hung up on. No big deal, we try again. We make the drive from San Ysidro to IB because this is “our spot.” Second time we call the cashier answers the phone with a frustrated tone but is able to take our order. The whole time we’re on the phone there was loud arguing between the ladies running the front & the 2 cooks working the kitchen. I pull up 15 mins later & the cooks are teasing the cashiers. They kept saying “a Que venimos?” (What did we come for?”. Then the one pictured on the right says “I’m just here to drink.” The taller girl kept asking both cooks to stop their behavior & everyone waiting for their food could clearly hear and see them go back and forth. It was disappointing & uncomfortable & although I do not know a back story as to what the issue was, I felt like stepping in to help the cashier who was on the brink of tears. Fortunately my order was correct & the food was great as always. I hope my review can help correct the unacceptable treatment of each other running this fine place.

First time ordering here. The long line made me thin it was going to be good. There were no prices on over half the menu. I left a nice tip but never received a receipt. When I got my order it was wrong. They forgot one item and gave me completely different enchiladas than what I ordered. I had to wait for the forgotten item and didn’t know about the switch in order until I was home. Okay food, maybe because it was cold due to having to wait to get the full order. Did love both the green and red sauce.

Love coming here, but every time you have the young man at the window, 4:05 on 8/27, he likes to be stingy with the salsa!! Why??? Every other person gives me what I ask for, except him. They even give out carrots, jalapeños , and occasionally chips. I will no longer make a purchase if I see him!

Not a fan of places who charge you extra to use your card. I don’t care if VISA charges you it’s not for you to make us eat that cost because we are supposed to be using a card for convenience! Beef taco shell was burnt. Whatever meat mixture inside looked unedible. It got thrown out. Fish taco was gross. Some sort or chipotle mayo or something ruined it. A few bites got ate. Beans were hard. Rice had no flavor. Both got two bites taken and thrown out. Carnitas tacos were almost edible. 1 of 3 got ate. 3 rolled tacos got finished and now me and my girlfriend have stomach aches. As other customers have stated it was hard to get salsa from them. They ended up giving us 5 little ones. Which was disappointing. Then I realized not a big deal. Because all the food gets thrown out. So who needs salsa without good food. Anyways that was my experience. 35 dollars spent to fill my trash can and toilet. 🤣😭

My wife and I order the #2 combo plate. It had a horrible taste and it was cold inside of the enchilada & chile relleno. But it was hot outside. So I went to the counter to explain to a young guy about the food. He only offered to put it in the microwave. Am like really. He also responded (it is what it is). Bad customer service. Everyone that works there seems unhappy and no pride in their work ethic. This place needs work. They just lost a customer and a member of the community for there bad service.

It's so sad that we're in 2024 and you go to a taco shop and order a $11.00 dollar burrito with extra toppings that they charged extra for. The cheese was actually just yellow water and the guacamole was sour cream with a green tint. The beans were some sort of clumpy, yet watery waste bi-product. Beef? Not sure if the sparse weird colored shredded stuff that was stuck to the bottom of the bean clump was beef, but maybe it was. Anyway, this place is absolutely awful now, it's like they created a dish with the goal of getting a negative review. If that was indeed the goal, then I congratulate you.

Shrimp quesadilla? Just say NO. I've always loved their food, first bad experience. Also their idea of Supreme is adding lettuce, tomato and sour cream on the side.

THIS is what I found when I got home-I was too tired to bring it back. I didn’t eat it after taking one bite, it was horrible. The shell was burned dark brown and it was half full with a sprinkling of lettuce on top, cheese pretty much non-existent. Wish I had checked it out before I got home, I wasted $9 This has been our go to fast food Mexican place for 15+ years and I have to say it’s really gone downhill the last year or so The girls are so rude with the exception of one who’s been there a long time They act like I’m annoying them and many times I have gotten home to realize something is missing from my order, I ask for 3 red sauce and she gives me one We won’t be going back I read a lot of the reviews and notice the owner only responds to the favorable reviews Buyer beware, it’s hit and miss now with this restaurant

Yeah this place is the worst taco shop in San Diego. Only got good reviews from tourist. Eat anywhere else but here

I just order some camarones plate ala diabla...which are supposed to be spicy...and they are not at all. Dissatisfied and disappointed 😞

Food gave me food poisoning next day started throwing up having loose stool meat. Taste in like it was left out for a few days. Fries tasted like they were gotten from McDonald's soggy Undercooked sour cream tasted like it was mixed in with old sour cream guacamole taste like it's weeks old and looks dyed How to repeat myself three times for every single thing I ordered I repeated in the same tone and projected my voice properly atmosphere. Definitely hostile cashier was really rude with me. I want to say I can't even stand for five minutes. It's been three days vomiting diarrhea would not recommend our civil servants or any other worker or person who needs to get to work tomorrow to eat this food unless you want to be able to leave early ER can't even Prescribe or describe the biohazard this food was Took to a testing facility, said that there was high levels of global warming potential gases in the food very disappointed very Was not worth my $40 order 50 on January 28, 2026 Next time, I'll just go to McDonald's and order some tacos there. breakfast is good here though.

Very odd spin on carne asada fries. Refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, nacho cheese. Such a large amount of liquidy things to put on fries. You end up with a mound of mush. Ended up throwing most of it away. Would not recommend. Get carne asada fries somewhere else.

The best taco shop has now become the worst. This is what happens when rude kids run this shop. I’ve been eating here for 6 years. This is how my food has been looking lately. The boy cashier is the rudest boy ever! He seems annoyed to be working there. Please give your business to someone else. Not these rude people.
