Excellent food. The interior design and ambiance are very Chinese yet modern and clean. The duck was amazing. It was the only duck I had in the US that compared to that in Beijing. The skin melted in my mouth. We had the duck 3 ways which includes the duck meat and skin, soup, and finally the bones in cummin. The meat pancakes were also good, but they were a bit on the greasy side. All-in-all, I'm glad this restaurant is around and would highly recommend it for the duck. Make sure you have reservations or you may not be able to order the duck and the wait times can be long.
Nice and friendly staff,quick order,good food,reasonable price

My Chinese friend said it was authentic, although slightly under spiced.
Really good food and very nice staff
Great food. Great service.
Top Peking Duck in Irvine!
Great place for Beijing Duck
Nice Beijing food.
best roasted duck
Good
Food is authentic.
Nice place
Authetic Northern and Szechwan Chinese food with upscale ambience. This is not an Americanized Chinese estabishment. We came to have a gathering and chat with friends in the banquet room. One of the dish, the braised belt fish took a much longer time than the others, but it was good.
Great restaurant, real Chinese food. I think most time you have to wait since there were still someone waiting when I left on 2pm. But it worths waiting. Recommend you order what are not easy to cook at home.
Great experience! Very authentic Beijing food! Great duck, duck soup, and noodles! Good service! Would definitely recommend!
I love this place! they have some of the best hand made noodles and dumplings around. Highly recommended!
I'm surprised that there's a restaurant here that serves authentic cuisine especially that you have to preorder some of them in order to enjoy them freshly on the day of your meal.
I just love this place , I have had great experience and from the beginning to the end of the meal , everything was amazing…. My new favorite place ♥️♥️
Great place! Very authentic northern Chinese food, many of which is hard to come by in the US
High quality Chinese food, open on Christmas. Food is tasty and staff are very professional.
The best price/food quality restaurant in Irvine, if you like authentic Northern Chinese food! Recommend: Xiang He Pancake(香河肉餅), Lamb Chop Meat(烤羊排), Spicy Beef (口水牛) 5 dishes feeding 5 people with total of $100 (plus tax and tip)
Actually this price is not expensive at all as a Chinese restaurant and I don’t understand why so many people think it is expensive. Secondly, some of the dishes are not easy to make and it does need a long time, if u don’t want to wait then don’t order it. I have been there so many times and each time their service was so good and never let me wait for long. Food has good taste, price is reasonable, service is nice! Definitely will go there again and again.
The food and service superior! Right when we got in the restaurant we were immediately seated and menus were placed in seconds! Right after that the tea came and water! We told the waiters our order and completely understood. Then we waited only minutes to see the waiter had come back with our appetizer which was the tofu roll! It was so good and after we finished it we moved on to the next dish which was my order... Mapo Tofu! I ordered this because my favorite food is tofu! I also knew it was spicy but I was okay with that and also like spicy foods! Next came the vegetables which were nice and they were very green and healthy! They looked good so I tried some and liked it! After that was the meatballs. The meatballs were nice and flavored and even came with some extra salt! It was pretty good and I recommend getting it. Lastly were the sesame pastries and they were sweet and also good! The service was great and everyone had a smile on their face, I definitely recommend this restaurant!😁😁
All family members, adults and children liked it very much. a large selection of Chinese food. The takeout service is absolutely unbeatable! we felt completely safe and able to have a great time.

A lot of dishes were not available while I was there :( otherwise a great place for Beijing food
Went a while back when they first opened and wasn't too impressed, but now tried them again tonight and they certainly have improved!
A place to go if you want Beijing food.
very authetic Beijing dishes!!!
good authentic chinese food
Good but expensive.
Authentic Beijing cuisine. Good business. Need to wait in line. Medium pricing.
Food is delicious, dinning environment is nice. Price is a little high but still reasonable.
Traditional Beijing flavor restaurant! Make sure try the roasted duck, the signature.
Very authentic Chinese Beijing restaurant. Best Peking roast duck in the area. You need to pre-order Palace styled desert, but the other deserts are also pretty good. The environment is good, but the servers sometimes get confused when busy. Just be patient and verify your orders if they don't show up.

Reserve ducks before hand and it's so so
Not recommended for regular citizens.
Food is really good but long long wait time is expected. For some reason one of dishes took more than an hour to be served.
Decent food, I suppose, but overpriced. They were under staffed and service was slow.
Good location, entrance is not obvious. The store is large and the decoration is not bad. Publicity is a Chinese restaurant opened by the boss of Beijing, but it is obviously the taste of the United States. It is definitely not Beijing. The chaogan is like a soup. The jiao liu wan zi is not fried well, men ding rou bing just a little shadowy. Bian dou men mian does not any taste is very light. However, There does not have any Beijing taste. The sheep lice (yang xie zi) are filled with lot of Chinese cabbage and vermicelli and like stewed pork, chaomian are not as tasty as panda express. In short, if you are Beijing people want to eat Beijing taste, don't go! South people do not mind American Chinese food is ok. Roast ducks do not require reservations. In addition, these dishes are more expensive and should be paid for decoration.
Ordered Peking Duck as take out. The duck was good as expected, however, we found the pancakes that go along with the duck was not so fresh, we found couple dark spots on them after we got home. It wasn't worth the trouble to complain to the restaurant. Also, if you order take out, make sure you call ahead, the wait on the order was really long.
I've tried this place three times. It's quite busy so reservation is highly recommended especially during weekend. As for my experience here, I would say it really depends on who serves your table. Some of the dishes are quite nice, they're famous for their roast duck (reservation required), I wasn't impressed the first time as we ordered whole duck three ways, but the slice duck meat was so little. It made me question where the rest was?? The recent visit was a party paid by a friend. This time, the quantity of the sliced duck meat seemed to have improved a little. The ambiance of the restaurant is nicer than some older Chinese food in Irvine. If you're trying to impress Asian boss, relatives, parents...etc, this is a nice place to come. I find their china are cleaner and newer. Of course the dishes are more expensive as you're paying for the decoration too. If you haven't tried it, you should come and see what the buzz is. After that, you know if you'll want to come back😉

No live fish. You need order Peking Duck 48 hrs earlier.
People raving about the interior make me laugh. All the interior was done by the previous restaurant owner which was a Korean-Chinese restaurant. Food is ok. I fail to understand the Din Tai Fung like lines that form. Wait is not justified here.
Restaurant I feel is basically set up to cater to Chinese families. The portions are large that is why people say it's expensive. Food was tasty but really not American friendly. The decor is set up as Chinese culture. Chopsticks are on the table. Had to ask for silverware such as fork and such. Service was good but I felt the servers spoke Chinese as primary language, a little English. Menu is set up in Chinese with small English print underneath. Sad that you have to order the duck the day before going. If you like that kind of restaurant you will like this place. Its definitely on the higher end. The opening time is not 5. You have to look at the door for times. On the web it was posted 5 PM We arrived and had to wait till 5:30 till it open. Closed on Tuesdays.
We where here a birthday celebration last night. We pre-ordered the duck. It had bones in it and was unappetizing. We ordered several other mediocre dishes. I would not recommend.

Food OK. Service so so. Very Expensive ($100+ for 4 dishes for party of 4). In order to be seated, all parties must be present... even though many empty/available tables...😲. Called in advance to order special 3 course duck dishes as suggested. When seated need placed the order again.🤔. No split bills allow when manager is gone for the day...☹️
Since the Covid 19 period , I don’t know what happened to original chef. Now the chef super suck. The dish is very oily and salty. Basically every friend of mine said they won’t order the food from here anymore . It is kind of disappointed to see a good restaurant before now became a nightmare . I feel bad from them . And I sincerely think they should change a new chef. Otherwise , nobody will eat it . And it will close soon.

Don’t let you sit in Two hours before closing. Tell you no more seats. Unbelievable.
If you are a courier do not ever accept a delivery from here
Bad service and food is just ok
Bad service!!!
Since the proprietor of the Beijing Restaurant in Irvine did not understand my simple complaint, I feel I must explain. Near the end of our journey home from Palm Desert on Friday 10 September 2020, we stopped at Beijing Restaurant (in the shopping center at the corner of Yale and Irvine BLVD in Irvine), as my wife wanted some soup. She put a mask on and entered, as they had opened about 10-15 minutes earlier at 11:30AM. Moments after she entered, I realized I should visit the restroom. As I stepped inside the entrance, just a few steps from walking directly into the hall in front of the restrooms, I heard the proprietor yell (loudly!) from the other side of the counter, about 20 feet to the right. He yelled, "YOU CAN'T COME IN WITHOUT A MASK!" As I pointed toward the restrooms, but before I could utter a single word, he continued yelling, "NO! YOU CANNOT USE THE RESTROOM! GET OUT! OUTSIDE! OUTSIDE! GET OUT!" I had both an N95 mask and a "CopperFit" neck gater in my front pocket, but due to his extreme rudeness, I took my wife by the arm and led her out the front door. My wife was sitting in the middle of the chairs along the front wall, looking at a throw-away menu, about half-way between us. I am a disabled Marine Corps Combat Veteran. I have a severe breathing disability (C.O.P.D., specifically Chronic Asthmatic Bronchitis, caused by 21 consecutive 24-hour days of breathing burning Kawaiti oil well smoke during Operation Desert Storm) that makes it difficult, if not impossible to wear a mask for more than a few minutes, so I do not automatically don one, unless asked (politely!). I was wearing black dress pants, a Hawaiian shirt, brown loafers, and a black "Desert Storm Veteran" cap at the time. There is no way he mistook me for a homeless person. I leave it up to you to determine how outrageously rude the proprietor of the Beijing Restaurant was. He basically blew me off with his earlier reply.
Worst northern style cuisine ever. Same level as any of those 9.99 budget Chinese food. And i’m from the north. How can it continue to have business is beyond me.
This place is closed. Looks like a new restaurant is opening. But the Beijing restaurant is closed. Sad. I really liked their roasted duck. I think it’s the best I’ve had outside of China.
I ordered a plate of abalone for $149.99. Then I had a plate of mushrooms. “Best” restaurant in Irvine. Lmao…….
One of the woman servers had some kind of attitude, if you went there be careful! Overall it’s alright. Bonne appetite.
canceled our order on the last minute when there was ample of time to serve us... nice one guys.
We accepted "table sharing" in wishing of save some time. We ordered our fast food at the same time with our table sharers. Until we noticed a group which ordered their dishes much later than us had already started eating, we asked a waitress if she could check our order. Then we saw four servers ran together rapidly talking about something in the kitchen and two of them looked at us with a nervous expression. After that the waitress came and asked us if we added anything. Then we knew that they forgot our order, and my 2 year old son was crying for food, so we decided to leave. But a chef ran out and stopped us, he tried to make us believe that our order needs longer waiting. Tell me how can it cost you half an hour to cut a cooked rice cake? Finally we changed our order for to go, but we’ll never go to the restaurant again.
We went to this place for a late lunch for my husband's birthday. WE ordered the duck 3 way, a crispy sweet & sour fish, some meat pies, garlic spare ribs and some Emperor cabbage salad. The duck was not crispy, it didn't taste fresh, it was not even hot . Certainly VS the pecking duck we have in Beijing, Generously, I give this chef 50 points out of 100. The fish also came room temperature, not freshly cooked, the sauce is so bland and thick, like some gooey stuff. There is no garlic flavor in the garlic ribs . The service is OK, and the plastic wears and paper plates& bowls are way too cheap in very poor quality vs. McDonald's plastic stuff. Some better quality paper bowls and plates and plastic spoons and disposable chopsticks would be more classy.
Food was average and expensive. The service sucks, we have to ask for everything....and it's hard to get a hold of them too since it's a big restaurant but only 6 servers. Every dish we have to wait for 8 to 15 min. Seat down at 7 order at 7:20 food first dish arrived at 7:50. And it's the appetizer. Will not ever go again.
