As most people said Irani chai is good here. And we tried few biryanis too - Among all -> chicken fry piece pulav is the best & the remaining one's are not consistent in taste & quality.
I had an excellent experience here! The food was delicious, the portion sizes were perfect, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great place for both casual meals and special occasions. Overall, a wonderful dining experience—I will absolutely return!
Had quite a few stops on my way home, and trust me — this is a fantastic place to enjoy a cup of Irani chai! It reminded me of my mom’s chai — warm, comforting, and full of flavor. Thank you, Desi Bytes, for giving me that homely feel. A must-visit spot for its amazing ambiance, friendly hospitality, and authentic taste.
Surprised it’s Rated 3.8 — Definitely Deserves More I got the Paneer Tikka Masala, and honestly, it was great — flavorful, well-spiced, and way better than I expected. I’m usually pretty strict when rating places, so when I give 5 stars, it actually means something. For the price point, the food is absolutely worth it. Not sure why this place only has 3.8 stars. People often judge spots like this with the wrong lens — this is not a fine dining place, and that’s okay. You don’t walk into McDonald’s expecting white tablecloth service, right? Same logic applies here. Judge a place for what it is, and Desi Bites delivers. They’ve got a wide variety of Indian snacks, meals, and sweets — and the prices are super reasonable. My in-laws know that I love East Indian food so they told me there's a great place in a popular East Indian area. The place was Desi Bites. Walking in, the entire restaurant was full and I felt like I walked into Indian town. That gave me confidence that there's some authentic, delicious food to be had here. We received our order of Lamb Rogan Josh (classic lamb curry), Chicken Tikka Masala, Dum Ka Goat, and Mutton Chettinad along with a foil tray of Saffron Rice, Plain and Garlic Naan. First off, the Saffron Rice was cooked properly. I expected no less from any self-respecting East Indian restaurant. They were generous with the rice and we had plenty left over. The plain Naan and Garlic Naan was cooked perfectly and met my expectations. Personally, I prefer the plain as it is a classic for me. I specifically asked for the Lamb Rogan Josh so this was the first dish that I tried. It was fragrant and contained bone-in pieces of lamb. Some places that I have tried in the past skip the bone parts. I enjoyed the curry flavor and ate most of it myself. The Dum Ka Goat was even more fragrant and had a flowery hint. I have never had this dish before, but found the curry different, yet enjoyable. The Mutton Chettinad was thicker and less gravy-like. The curry leaves helped thicken up the gravy and gave additional flavor to the curry. It was decent, but not my preference. Finally, the Chicken Tikka Masala was the consensus least favorite as it was on the sweet side. I prefer savory food so the Chicken Tikka Masala would never win me over. My in-laws didn't like the sweetness as well. We did try mixing the other curries with the Chicken Tikka Masala to reduce the sweetness. It was passable, but we won't order it again. Overall, Desi Bites delivered some delicious dishes and we can see why it was packed on a weeknight.
I had a pleasant experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was flavorful and well-cooked, with a nice balance of spices that suited the dishes well. There were good vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from, and everything tasted fresh. The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming, making it a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. The staff were polite and attentive, and overall it was a satisfying dining experience.
I have ordered paneer biryani from Desi Bites many times (this was probably my 6th or 8th order), and I’ve always loved it. That’s actually why I keep coming back — it’s usually very good. However, during my recent order(March 1st), the biryani was not hot when I received it in the afternoon, which was a bit unusual. Since I am a regular customer and it was a buy-one-get-one offer, I didn’t think much of it at the time. Later in the night, when I reheated the leftovers, the biryani smelled spoiled and had clearly gone bad. That’s when I felt concerned that it may not have been freshly prepared. I am not writing this to complain harshly — I genuinely like this place and their paneer biryani. This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this. But serving spoiled food is worrying, and I hope the team looks into it and ensures this does not happen again. I will still visit because my previous experiences have been good, but I sincerely request better quality checks going forward.
The food quality was very poor. The vada was not cooked properly inside, and the idly was not fresh at all. When I pressed the idly, it turned into a rava-like texture. I have never seen idly like this before, and it felt like it was made a few days ago. I paid extra for chutney, but it looked diluted with water and had a very strong garlic taste, which made it hard to eat. I usually don’t write reviews, but this was my worst experience. I will never order from this place again. Since everything was closed for three days due to the snowstorm, it feels like old food was sold. Offering complimentary food does not fix the issue. People order online because they cannot come to pick up food. Asking customers to pick up complimentary food makes me feel that the problem with the food was already known. Very disappointed.
Today I ordered vijaywada boneless biryani and I never had this kind of biryani ever at desi bites. It was so bad and felt like I was eating sundays left over food. Biryani rice was so dry and chicken was evidently not fresh and very very dry just kept from top. This is the 3rd time I am experiencing this and informed them couple of times on phone earlier.
This was my first time trying Desi Bites (Irving) , and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. I ordered a boneless chicken biryani (Buy 1 Get 1 offer). While the rice was flavorful and tasted good, the chicken quality was extremely poor. The pieces were hard, rubbery, and elastic-like, almost plastic-like. The moment you bite into it, you can clearly tell the chicken is not fresh. Due to serious concerns about the quality, I had to separate and throw away all the chicken pieces and could only eat a small portion of the rice. Most of the chicken was so chewy that it didn’t even feel like real chicken—you could literally stretch it like rubber, which strongly suggests old, heavily frozen, or very low-quality meat. I threw everything in trash!! Chicken is the main part of biryani, and when the meat quality is this bad, it completely ruins the dish. This is concerning, and customers should really think about their gut health and food quality before ordering. Just because the food smells good doesn’t mean the ingredients are good. I strongly advise others to be cautious, especially with Buy 1 Get 1 offers, and to choose places that prioritize fresh, better-quality ingredients. I won’t be ordering from here again.
Very disappointed. Ordered boneless chicken biryani via Uber Eats pickup and it was excessively oily—the rice was literally floating in oil and completely inedible. We’ve ordered this multiple times before without any issues, so this sudden drop in quality is unacceptable. Serious lack of consistency and quality control.
I ordered Chicken Fry Piece Pulao through Uber Eats and had a very bad experience. The chicken was completely spoiled and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for many days. It smelled bad and was unsafe to eat. This was honestly a nightmare experience. Serving spoiled chicken is unacceptable and a serious health concern. Please maintain proper food quality and freshness before sending orders.
Worst quality chicken and food.!! EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!! Before the owner brushes off this as one time thing, I am a regular at Desi Bites. Been visiting for over 3 months now. Sadly, The quality of food stooped from 5 star to 0 within 3 months. I have ordered DB special boneless chicken biryani from Uber Eats. I noticed that chicken was not fresh. The pieces were so rubbery. Eating this will only cause customers lot of side effects. Hence, I’m writing this review to save others from these food places. The chicken was made definetely 3-4 days ago or even past. And the spices were so badly out. The oil was literally poured on biryani. There were no onions and lime. Raita was poorly made. This had been happening for quite sometime and even informed the front desk folks about the food quality. Yet no action was taken. I’ll be filing a complaint with FOOD SAFTEY AND INSPECTION SERVICE also reported it to local health departments.
Guys please don’t go and eat in Desi bytes very poor ,today I bought samosa there …in that samosa plastic particles are there I attached the picture over there ,my kid had samosa and he spitted he told something is there he told after we checked we got to know ,be careful while you eating there
Absolutely terrible experience this morning. I ordered Idli Vada to go the Idli was actually soft and really good, but the Vada was raw inside. The batter wasn’t even cooked! It was soggy, sticky, and completely inedible. It’s basic common sense to check if the food is properly cooked before sending it out of the kitchen. Very disappointing and unacceptable.
We recently placed a catering order from here, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. Several dishes were not properly cooked — the biryani rice was dry, the naan was spoiled, and many items were not edible at all. It honestly felt like the food was not prepared by professional chefs, students are cooking here I wanted to bring this to your attention because I expected much better quality. At this time, I cannot recommend your restaurant for catering, don’t ruin your party by placing order here
Terrible experience at Desi Bites — never ordering again. The food was extremely poor quality: the rice was drenched in oil, way too spicy, and watery. It was honestly inedible. When I tried to give feedback, the owner was shockingly rude. He refused to take any responsibility and just told me to “talk to Uber Eats” — completely dismissive and uninterested in what I had to say,( he was trying to smart) This place does not care about food quality or customers. Highly disappointing, Request to owner :- for sure you will be losing businesses for sure if you keep these kind of People at front desk. , I am also adding pictures
Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable experience. I ordered Vegetarian Gobi 65 and ended up chewing on actual chicken pieces. When I looked more into the food, I found even more chicken pieces. As a strict vegetarian, this was not just a mistake, it was deeply disturbing. I’m a vegetarian, and this is not just a dietary choice for me, it’s a serious ethical and personal value. The fact that they carelessly prepared the food is beyond shocking. It’s disrespectful, careless, and shows a complete lack of concern for customers with dietary restrictions. Imagine if someone had religious restrictions or food allergies. This could’ve had much worse consequences. I will never be ordering from here again, and I strongly urge other vegetarians and ethical eaters to avoid this place unless they want to be traumatized mid-meal. Do better.
I found what appeared to be ceramic or possibly metal pieces in the Chicken Fry Biryani. Initially, I assumed it was eggshell, but it turned out to be extremely hard, as shown in the photos I shared. This is very concerning, and I intend to escalate the issue further. I’ve been a loyal customer of Desi Bites in Irving, TX for a long time, and I’m truly disappointed by this experience. When I spoke to them, they offered to refund the money, but for me, it’s not just about the refund. I’m not looking for a reimbursement—I’m more concerned about the seriousness of the issue.
Worst Experience! They gave me the wrong order, I ordered “Chilli chicken Noodles” and got the plain noodles in one box and “chicken manchurian” in another box, that was totally a different one from the one I ordered in July. How come a restaurant can deliver two different type of noodles under the same name?! when I approached the owner he said “the kitchen has got a new staff, part time college students..” that is not acceptable for the taste change. I was hoping for an authentic and flavourful Indian style noodles, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. From the first bite, the taste was off — lacking the rich, bold flavors one would expect from a restaurant specializing in desi cuisine. The chicken in my noodles tasted old and stale, which is unacceptable for any restaurant. Not only did the chicken lack flavor, but it also had a strange, unpleasant texture that made the meal hard to eat. For the price and the hype surrounding this place, I expected much better. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for genuine, flavorful Indian food.
