Avis sur Xi'an Street Food Ithaca
It's usually packed with students getting an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine known for thick noodles and extreme flavors. Recommend the lamb and cumin biang biang noodles for the heat, the braised beef soup noodles, the cold noodles with extra spicy chili oil sauce and the pork buns. All were very authentic according to my Chinese wife. I personally can't tell. I just know it was all delicious. That plus a coke and a coconut milk drink ~ $58 with tips. Reasonable given how much food we got.
Delicious. Very clean dining room. Got the Hand ripped noodles and the thin spicy sesame noodles. Both were good but the sesame noodles had way more flavor. Also order spicier than you think, I got a level 5 spice and it was barely spicy. Braised beef was incredible, cucumber salad in chili oil incredible, egg and tomatoes incredible, dumplings incredible. Can't say enough good things about the food.
Hand stretched Chinese noodles in Ithaca! You can hear the chef making them in the kitchen they are so fresh and delicious. My mom loves the dumplings. The prices are very reasonable for what you get as well.
We tried the Hand-Ripped Noodles (Biang Biang Noodles) with Braised Beef here, and the dish was absolutely delicious! The noodles were super fresh, and we asked for extra spicy — it was perfect 🔥. We also added a soy egg, which was a great choice. My husband and I both loved it so much. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving authentic Xi’an street food!
Authentic and satisfying! It’s such a treat to find a place that serves real Xi’an food—hand-pulled noodles and lamb jiamo that are bold, spicy, and deeply seasoned. You can taste the freshness of the dough, and the chili oil has real flavor, not just heat. The lamb sandwich was juicy and fragrant, packed with green pepper and cumin. The interior is simple and functional, but even during the quiet summer break, the place was buzzing with students and regulars. That says a lot. Highly recommend if you’re craving Northwestern Chinese comfort food done right.
I have had Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-pulled Noodles in both the stir-fried style and the lamp soup style, and would strongly recommend to have it dry unless you cannot take spicy. You can also choose the spice level based on your taste. It is definitely my favorite and some of my friends’ favorite dish, despite sometimes the lamb could have too much tendons. I also like the stew pork bun and cold skin noodles there. I always visited this place when I was craving Xian food in Ithaca. It is vegetarian friendly and easy for takeout.
Even though I’m no longer a student, I recently visited Cornell and couldn’t resist stopping by Xi’an Street Food—a cozy spot that instantly reminded me why I still love finding places like this. Tucked into a quiet street, this casual eatery serves bold, authentic flavors that are perfect for anyone who craves real comfort food with a kick. We ordered two dishes: • N8. Fried Sauce with Pork Hand-Ripped Noodles • NS4. Taiwanese Braised Pork in Pork Bone Soup Both were delicious, but if I had to pick a favorite, the soup version definitely won me over. The rich pork bone broth was deeply flavorful, with tender chunks of meat, fresh bok choy, cilantro, and a perfectly marinated egg. I chose the very spicy option, and it brought just the right amount of heat—intense, but still balanced enough to let all the other ingredients shine. The dry noodles were also amazing, with chewy hand-ripped noodles, savory pork sauce, and crisp cucumber adding a refreshing contrast. Whether you’re a student or just visiting Ithaca like me, Xi’an Street Food is absolutely worth the stop. Great portions, affordable prices, and spice levels that satisfy any heat lover. I’ll definitely be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Check out the pictures—these bowls are as good as they look!
I got the Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand Ripped Noodles. The noodle was firm and springy, featured a good portion of lamb, and the sauce was savory and spicy. I got the medium spice and it was perfect, though a bit oily. I was also impressed by the length of the noodles because they were really long. The triple dumplings were also so delicious, the inside was juicy and flavorful, topped with more chilli oil. The automatic ordering was cool as well, and food came relatively fast. The pricing was also surprisingly affordable. Would definitely recommend to noodle lovers and spicy food enthusiasts.
This is my third time ordering from the place and each time always hits. The cold noodles were very refreshing and the sauce for it was very rich in flavor. The lamb burger was also really flavorful, was able to taste a lot of different spices. Would definitely recommend trying both and plan to visit again.
The hand-pulled biangbiang noodles were good, so chewy and fresh! They had a pretty nice flavor from the sauce. The first time I went, I think I accidentally got pork instead of beef but the meat was so good, way more tender and melt-in-your-mouth than I’d expect. The next time I went, I got braised beef and many of the pieces of beef were fatty which was disappointing but it was still good, and the pieces without fat were tender. We got medium spicy which had us sneezing and crying lol so I’d go with mild spicy next time but I do love a bit of heat. The cumin lamb is tasty, very cuminy. Dumplings were good too.
I ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand Ripped Noodles with bok choy for takeout after seeing all the reviews of how delicious they were. Within minutes of pickup I went to eat my noodles just to find a glob of noodle mass, not the beautiful long, hand pulled noodles I had read about. I was really disappointed to have to eat my “noodles” as more of a puck since they were all stuck together and no amount of agitation with the oil would unstick them. The flavors were very good, but I felt like I really missed out on the actual experience of the noodles. I have already emailed the business, and I’m never received a response.
My family all got the wide “ripped” noodles dishes. Our order was to go so maybe that was one of these reasons it wasn’t as good as some of the previous reviews. Our daughter got the brazed beef and tomato noodles. The “beef” was all fat which she threw away. She said the tomatoes were good. I got the spiced lamb ripped noodles with extra chili oil, cilantro and a fried egg on top. The egg was really oily and not worth the extra dollar. The additional ingredients changed the cost from a $14 noodle dish to a $18 dish. The noodles in all our dishes had a good bite but were fairly heavy. In all our dishes they were so stuck together it was really difficult to eat without being afraid we were going to get sauce on our clothing because of the force needed to separate noodles with our chopsticks. If we had eaten in the restaurant I’d have ask for new dishes. We also got pork dumplings which were good. I’d say 50/50 pork to veg. Overall, I’d try it again but given the reviews and comparing our dishes to other pictures I’d expected better quality than what we received.
SANITATION PROBLEM - We visited the place first time and ordered Braised Beef Noodle, Spicy Pepper Chicken Noodle and Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles in Lamb Soup. We ate Beef and Chicken Noodles at the restaurant and both noodles were good. We took the Lamb Noodle Soup to home as a take out. When transfer the Lamb Noodle Soup to a glass container for microwaving, we noticed a hair. We thought it was only one but when we looked at carefully, there were lots of clipped hairs. I am using clipped hairs because they were not like regular hairs. It looks like someone cut hair with a hair clipper while preparing the dish. I tried to take the pictures of hairs inside the container and separated hairs on the paper towel. Something like this never happened before. It was disgusting. We will probably not see the hairs if we use their single use black take out containers but they can be seen on the white surfaces. DON’T RECOMMENDED.
