Best chicken fried steak I have ever had. Not tough at all. You could cut it with a fork. My husband had pork chops and he said they were very good. Also, a plus is that they had a very nice salad bar with A good variety.
Great little restaurant with friendly stall and great service.
Junction dining at its best. Loved our lunches . Everything from chicken fried steak ,salad bar superb, sandwiches, burgers, and daily specials...yummy! Waitress was kind and efficient. Kinda old and running down (building not the waitress).
One of Texas’ great classic cafes, the fish fry is the best selection. The exceptional fresh salad bar is the amazing surprise (truly). Usually these scare me but you will never find one fresher. Homemade pickled vegetables!
We were passing through on a tuesday night. Great food, priced appropriately. Chicken fried steak was delicious, and the side of beef and vegetable soup could stand alone as an entree. Kids menu had a good selection.
Great breakfast! Home cooked country breakfast. Everything always fresh!
Waitress was prompt and efficient! Hubby enjoyed a delicious cheeseburger with French fries, actually cut from a potato fresh! That is rare these days! I had a garden salad with tender grilled chicken on top. We loved our lunch and highly recommend Isaac's!
Good food, quick service and a reasonable price
We loved the food! The Coffee was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and professional. Our server was very nice and well organized. I had a 3 egg omelet that was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of bacon and vegetables. The bathrooms were clean. The feeling of the restaurant was relaxed. We are only traveling through the area but we might stay an extra day just to eat here again. We really liked it.
Old westerns on the TV, friendly service. All the food is made to order and delicious. Salad bar was also fresh and cold.
Had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. Tasty and a large portion. Make sure you have people to share with you! I ate the cheeseburger and hubby had the chicken fried steak. Both were delicious! He loved the homemade gravy. I wanted to try the cobbler but they had run out. We will be stopping at Isaacks again!
Good folks running a wonderful diner. I had the ham steak with mashed potatos. They were good. Had a small fried IRA appetizer that was as big as a meal most places. The service was fast and friendly. We cone back next time we are in this part of Texas.
My goodness this place might have the best Lunch combo I’ve ever seen. The salad bar is phenomenal. The food was made with love. You feel like you’re home here.
Quiet place to get some great breakfast when you’re in the area. The Hunters Special is a great go to plate. Steak was cooked perfect and juicy. Texas French Toast was delicious too.
Ok, friends and family. This is the place where you need to try. Come to Junction, this is one of the best breakfast. Places that have the best bacon, the best eggs and the best homemade breakfast that you would ever have. They open at 6 o'clock in Junction, Texas. So come and experience the most beautiful town in a growing beautiful hotel, with the most delicious restaurant that serves delicious food. Come and experience the service and the goodfood
Love this cozy spot in Junction, TX. Their Junction special was perfect! Their coffee was tasty as well! And their hashbrowns were so good! A must breakfast spot in you’re ever in town.
Hiden 💎, I had the Hunters special and it was delicious. Was with a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meal. Also very quick in and out 20 min.
If passing through Junction, you do not want to stop anywhere else! Great service, very clean, and hands down best liver and onions at a restaurant, I’ve ever tasted! And my kids had nothing but great raves on their chicken tenders as well! Didn’t catch her name unfortunately but shout out to our server (blonde hair) she was efficient and made sure we were taken care of at all times!!
Visited 2 different times while in Junction and we loved it ! It has a very homey and welcoming atmosphere at Isaack's, as well as friendly and attentive staff. We all really enjoyed our meals here, also to mention it's made from scratch daily. I highly recommend trying their daily specials. Cost friendly for good food, you won't be disappointed!
In 2018 my daughter and I took a road trip from Victoria British Columbia Canada and drove across the USA we had stopped at a rest stop along the highway and found somebody's cell phone to the local police department which on our way let us to Isaac's restaurant we decided to stop for lunch it was the best decision of our life the food was absolutely incredible we traveled across the entire USA and this place has the best hamburger I have ever eaten my daughter had the chicken fried steak and it was also incredible I would drive again on a road trip from Canada just to get another hamburger in Texas from this restaurant and the bathtub salad bar was a great touch I can honestly say I've never seen that before the food was great the staff was friendly and polite couldn't ask for better 100% recommend
We all ordered chicken fried steak mashed potatoes and salad. My daughter had the beef vegetable soup as well. The food was delicious. They need waitstaff and cooks, it was mid-afternoon and we had to wait over an hour for our meal. It was fine because we visited and had our salad bar, but there were some people that weren't very patient. Our waitress was super nice.
Great place for dinner! Nice variety of food and the servings are huge! Be extra hungry. The onion rings are the bomb and the large order will easily feed 6 adults. Salad bar was fresh and very tasty. We'll be back!
The food is DELICIOUS. Grilled chicken sandwich on Sourdough Bun comes with homemade French fries. Patty Melt ditto fries. Both were HUGE, cooked perfectly, and were the best we've ever had. Wait Staff is attentive, friendly & knowledgeable. Restaurant is clean and decorated very nicely. We stopped due to previous reviews and they did not disappoint! We'll be back and will make this our ONLY stopping place for a meal!
Took a few days off to go to west Texas and ate here twice for breakfast. The first time they were out of biscuits and the second time they were out of grits. They made up for it by giving me a pancake. You have to have their pancakes. Very good. When I did get their biscuit it fell apart, but it did have a good taste. Omelets are also very good. Our server has been there forever and treated us very well. Worth the stop if your near Junction, Tx.
We were afraid to go here because of some of the poor reviews. However, it was amazing! We got the senior's special: three piece fish with two sides and dessert. I had five pieces and hubby had six! They were small but still too much to eat all of it with the included stop to the salad bar. Everything looked very clean. The waitress was very attentive and even told us the we should try to get our order in quickly due to a large table that was soon to be seated. Isaack Restaurant is still as good as we remember it and just as friendly. The only slight disappointment is that they didn't have any postcards from their restaurant. (Most people don't collect or use them anyway.) Great service, great waitress, great food! Thanks Isaack!
Great old-time diner in a small town staffed by very friendly people. Since I was in town for only one night to view the annular eclipse we only ate breakfast here once. It was memorable indeed. I just love the charm of small, family run businesses over the cold, corporate franchises. Try this place out if you pass through Junction, TX. You'll be glad.
Thus is the place to go if your in junction. The waitress was amazing, the service was fast and the food was delicious. I tried to get the senior sirloin but the waitress new i couldn't be that old. It was just the way i ordered it. Rare, mouth watering and juicy. The fried Squash was the best....
How lucky are we that we ran across this restaurant while we're traveling down interstate 10! I mean I could not even be any happier with the food! I felt like we went to Mom's house and had a wonderful home-cooked homemade meal.
We stopped in after a 13-hour road trip and were so glad we did. Fast service, excellent food, and great prices!
Quick service, great home style food, and clean place. Drove thru Junction Tx, decided to here based on other reviews. Highly recommended!
We were driving home to San Angelo and decided to stop here and eat. This was probably the BEST hamburger steak I’ve had in soooo long. It was truly homemade and authentic, the chicken burger was also delicious. The broccoli and baked potato were to die for. I would definitely drive from Angelo over here just to eat!
We were driving by, we stopped here and the Hamburger was great
Great place with incredible staff. Recently had their Jumbo Shrimp and was very good. I've had their breakfast several times and have never been let down. Biscuits and gravy are to die for.
Small little hometown restaurant. Stopped in our roadtrip for lunch. I had a burger, husband had steak fingers. Everything was extremely good and homemade. Handcut fries were the best! Will be stopping by on our roadtrips from now on.
Walked in while they were still closed. Guess someone forgot to lock the door. Scared the woman working. She took it well. Told us to go ahead and have a seat. Had the grilled catfish it was delicious.
We drove over to meet a family member from Amarillo and we celebrated his birthday there a Isaack’s , by cutting a cake. The place was awesome, waitress was great. Food was just right. They were about to close and still took us in. Thank to the whole staff. 👍🏼😃
The exterior looks dated and ready for a facelift, but it is quite inviting inside. This was the perfect lunch alternative driving along I-10 Interstate. We had time to kill for a restful stop rather than just a "rest stop." Like a small town Cracker Barrel, they had some kitschy decor, and the bathtub salad bar was such a clever idea. It was still quick to order and get our food, but everything was freshly made and brought me back to my grandmother's delicious Midwest fare. Having spent more time in the Northeast of the US, there just aren't enough restaurants with a good chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, grilled catfish, and hand-breaded onion rings. My son also happily devoured his cheeseburger. We hope to have the chance to stop by this way, again.
Typical diner appearance. Little dated inside and out but don't let that fool you, service was welcoming and the food was hot and delicious. A local friend recommended several places to enjoy lunch and I chose Isaacks because she mentioned homemade onion rings. ;) Fish was the lunch special and the fresh salad bar beckoned. We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer. Everything was so good! I'll be sure to return when we're in the area!
Polite and accommodating staff, vintage old-timey vibe, and the chicken fried steak was amazing (even the breading was drool-worthy). Hamburger steak was also incredibly good. And I do not like gravy, but I ate every bit of this gravy that they served here. It was that good. Their yeast rolls are fluffy and taste homemade, like they just came out of the oven. The fries, goodness gracious, looked and tasted like ACTUAL fries and NOT something out of a bag. The fries alone stole my heart/stomach/tastebuds.
A favorite breakfast stop for us leaving San Antonio. Omlets and 2 egg breakfasts are reliable favorites. Your coffee cup stays reliably replenished. Rustic decor with 50s TV westerns playing on the monitor. I think there is a salad bar at lunch served from a claw foot bathtub which looked fun. Homey spot.
We went twice, sat at counter, chatted with waitress on both shifts. Had pie the first visit and all I could think about was the show "supernatural" cuz the whole vibe was there. And that is what made it great... The cherry pie was delicious, not overly sweet.. this morning I got French toast and it was actually made correctly. So if you are passing through junction stop here, sit at the counter and have a good conversation while enjoying good food.
Rolled into beautiful downtown Junction at lunchtime. Found this gem hiding in plain sight. We had the AYCE salad bar. Everything was fresh and the side salads were tasty. Nice choice of dressings as well. So we finished behaving ourselves and had a slice of Pecan and Silk pie to make up for it.
This was my first time at Isaack's. My friend and I both ordered a bottled beer. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived with a frosty mug. You rarely see that anymore. Even more surprised when each beer after, came with a new frosty mug. I ordered the chicken friend steak with fries and the salad bar. The salad bar itself is cute. It's one trip only unless you get the all you can eat option. Bowls are really small. The fries were good. I would have preferred a little crispier. Chicken fried steak was tender, and the gravy was good. The service was exceptional. Now for the best part - the coconut pie. This pie changed my life. It was THE BEST pie I have ever had. If you like coconut, you HAVE TO try it!
If you have a hankering for classic Texas comfort food, Isaack's delivers! The cozy dining room with its wood paneling makes you nostalgic for the house of your youth (yes, I'm Gen X). Your eyes do not deceive you... the salad bar is a clawfoot bathtub, and offers classic fresh fare. The comfort food is plentiful... chicken fried steak, burgers, chicken fried chicken, fried zucchini, onion rings... you get the idea. The service is friendly, efficient and the folks make you feel right at home. Save room for the pie... cheers!
Visited 2/7/25 for lunch with friends. We were seated immediately with no wait. Country, homey atmosphere and decor. Clean bathrooms and very friendly staff. Convenient location on the Main Street of town half way between downtown and I-10. Free, level parking lot. Great vintage sign out front (please don’t ever change this). Salad bar had a decent amount of options, the onion rings were glorious and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Orders were taken correctly and we didn’t wait more than 10-15 min for our food. Gift items were available for sale as well as candy by the cash register. Shopping and motels nearby. Very glad we stopped in and would definitely visit again!
Stopped in for lunch on a roadtrip to El Paso. I had there cheeseburger with fries and a tea. My wife had the salad bar. Staff was friendly and prompt. Food was good country cooking. The burger was moist and well seasoned. Fries were good country cut homestyle fries. My wife had a piece of chocolate cake to finish it off. Good old fashion country style cake. If you want good country cooking this is the place.
Second time eating here. First time we had breakfast and it was good. Today we had the daily lunch special. It was homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fried okra and a dinner roll. It also came with your choice of soup or salad bar. I enjoyed the beef vegetable soup and my husband had the salad. Everything was very tasty and well flavored. The fried okra was nice as crunchy dinner roll was wonderfully soft. I was satisfyingly stuffed😅 but the lunch special didn't end there😬 it also included dessert😳
Stopped there for a pit stop. Food was awesome. Eggs were a little over cooked but that’s ok. It was still good. Service was amazing. Love the hats they sell there. 45 sequel👍🏼. Definitely would stop there again on my way back.
Passing through coming back from west Texas. I had the turkey bacon club with chips. It was good. My husband had chicken fried steak with cream gravy and a baked potato. He said it was fairly good. The steak could have used a bit more flavor. The yeast rolls were really good as well as the salad bar. Overall the food was good. The building has a country feel and appeared clean and seemed to be a family business. It was priced moderately.
We had the special which was chicken fried chicken and was supposed to be $13.99. We did order tea but our bill came to over $37..?.. The food was good but not almost $40 good for lunch. The salad bar is in an old bathtub which is really cool and the restrooms were clean.
You'll do best to visit for breakfast or on all-you-can-eat catfish night. As is typical in many small towns, the service at this restaurant can be slow at times. Otherwise, it's a typical American roadside-type restaurant, probably not much different in appearance and recipe than it was 50 years ago.
Food was average to good. Just simply a well cooked breakfast.
This restaurant was a unique experience. While on the road for a long time, I stopped for lunch. I wasn't expecting much, but this restaurant was very charming. The service and food were great. They even had a little gift shop with candies and homemade jewelry.
We stopped at 10:30am. They were serving breakfast. My son wanted lunch and they said okay, that was nice. 45 minutes later we got our food. It was good, I had breakfast. They are a little slow but then it might have been due to my son ordering lunch. Wait staff didn't seem to be having a good day and greeter acted like we interrupted her texting. Prices were good and we would probably go back. Everyone has bad days.
Great food, lukewarm service. The onion rings and chicken fried steak are fantastic. Large portions. The hamburgers were wonderful and everything tasted homemade and fresh. Decent salad bar. The service was very slow and rather lukewarm in reception but not rude. Bathrooms need updating or a at least a deep cleaning and new door locks. We showed up with two RVs and were able to park easily. We would return again (after trying the bbq place across the highway first of course).
A good neighborhood diner. Good soup, really good burger and great fries. The salad bar is plentiful. Even though closing was in 15 minutes, the service was great.
Restaurant was rustic and nostalgic. Asked for Coffee waitress made a fresh pot for us. We both had the patty melt and fries. I only ate half of meal got full fast.
Well, this might be the only vegan-possible place in Junction. If you are okay with a salad with limited choices, this it it. A lot of the salad bar items are non-vegan, so I had to skip them. There was no quinoa, beans, sprouts, or significant sources of plant protein in the bar. The salad was better than the DQ salad, which set a low bar. I don't know. Maybe the waitress was tired. She seemed kind of busy and not looking to talk. When I asked for baked potato, she said they were out. End sentence. She didn't offer any other ideas or sympathy. I guess it seemed cold. Towards the end of the meal she got slightly friendlier when my dad was trying to strike chit chat. The salad bar was also pretty dark. I guess they want to hide the food in the dark? It could use some more lights. The bath tub as the base of the bar was neat. My dad seemed happy with his meal.
We’ve been here many times for breakfast which has always been awesome. This time we didn’t time it right, and had lunch. Very disappointed. I had a hot roast beef, served on dry toast with 2 tablespoons of gravy. The meat was tough as shoe leather. It came with fries... all 10 of them, fried until they were like twigs off a tree. My husband had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. He said the potatoes were good. $22 with tap water to drink. Not worth it.
Very disappointing after all the good reviews. My fish fry yielded rubbery catfish, soggy fries. The salad bar was good. My husband's liver and onions was ok, the strawberry cake sat out too long and was dry. The waitress was uninspiring. We will try a different establishment for breakfast..
Didn’t appreciate the service charge for using a card once we read your sign at the register. Also ask for my gravy on the side but was charged $2.75 more for extra. Unfortunately the tip was lacking. Breakfast was good though.
Just what the doctor did not order. Great chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. Right across the street from the route 66 style motel we always stay at when we kayak the South Llano River. Been coming here for years. I love you guys! Keep making that yummy diner food. Cheers!
We used to come here for years and loved it. Moved away and came to town to eat here again and was disappointed. Waitress did a great job, but the food was just mediocre. I had the liver and onions and the liver was very tender but the gravy was too salty and the onions tasted off (old?). The salad bar has a lot of different choices but even that wasn't great tasting. My husband had the soup and he said it was good but he didn't care for the salad either. I was very bothered by the crap way the bathroom door had such a big gap in it - they need to get a longer/wider board and fix this. Very intrusive. Sad to say, we will just keep the good memories of how it used to be because it's not the same now and we won't return.
Let me start by saying we are NOT locals. I heard a lot from the people here in town that this place was amazing so my husband and I decided to give it a try. We were very disappointed. The sweet tea tasted old and the coke was watered down. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the food was that, 2 star worthy. My husband's fries were old/soggy, along with slightly burnt toast. The only good things we got were the 12oz Sirloin steaks. There was only one server and she did the best she could bouncing around and tending to customers as well as cleaning up. Definitely not worth the hype we heard.
Was looking for a nice mom and pop restaurant to have lunch on the way to see my grandmother and choose here, i wish i hadn't, for what you get the food is not worth the price, and maybe it was just the time i came by but it took forever to be served and get our food, and when the food did arrive the portions were small, i ordered the chicken strips which were not fried right, they were cooked but had no flavor and the breading would not stick, wont be coming here again
Place was clean, seat yourself. Waitress was not friendly never said hi! Definitely didn’t want to be here, definitely had blinders on. Food was ok. Only tip for her will be get a better attitude or a different job
My son and I didn't care so much for our dinner. My husband and SIL seemed to enjoy their chicken fried steak. The host/waitress was not very friendly. She seemed annoyed the moment we walked in. It was so quiet, it felt like we were in a library. The restaurant was clean, and the kids enjoyed looking at the animals on the wall. I think we'll eat elsewhere next time we're in town.
Showed up for lunch with my family. Google shows it's open but the doors are locked.
I was there Jan 18 2026 after driving all morning for 7 hours I had worked up an appetite. I didn't know the area so I googled this place. And I had high hopes w the pics and reviews. The service was ok but once the food came out I was left feeling disgusted and lost my complete appetite. I ordered the cat fish and in that very first bite once I pulled it away from my mouth here comes this white hair coming out my mouth as it was embedded in the batter of the fish. So gross I will NEVER come to this place again. If u eat here just watch out and be careful because they are obviously not paying attention to the food they are preparing for their customers.
