We celebrated a birthday with great food, in this restaurant and our party enjoyed it. We tried the fried calamari, catfish and the fried shrimp all of them were delish!

Katy location. My interaction with the to go lady is something worth writing about. From the moment she answered the phone, I was smiling. Her energy was high, her knowledge of the menu on point and her help in my food decisions made the day. Her name is Stacey and she is awesome! Before I left we hugged and I can only hope that any and every time I order to go, she will be the one to answer the phone. I'm posting in hopes that the message gets to the right person and that she is acknowledged as the great employee she is. And if you see this Stacey, your kindness made the food taste even better! 🙏

Always a good time here. Especially this time the service was outstanding. And the drinks at this location are on point, there cocktails the hurricane or sunset. (Would not recommend at woodlands location, tbh just get a beer there). Huge shoutout to the server n bartender at Katy really makes this location stand above the rest. The fish selections are amazing, and the fried green tomatoes r good too. Arguably the best fish & seafood the Houston area has to offer. Highly recommend 11/10.

I love going to Babins. The food is great! They have good lunch prices and you get a normal entry size portion even though it's on the lunch special. I like the red brand and rice with catfish. I also like their fence wrist salmon. So good. I've gone a few times and sat at the bar and ordered. The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are amazing. The Peach Sidecar is my go to. You only need 2 and you'll be feeling just right. The environment is great here. It never fails, everytime I go, I meet someone friendly sitting at the bar and we spend the entire visit engulfedin conversation. I definitely recommend going if you haven't before.

My first time at this location. We was very impressed by the food and service. This location was so much better then the woodlands, the food was so much better. Great service! This taste of New Orleans is the best seafood I have had in a very long time. Not only did we receive exceptional service from our server Caleb, but the food was of superior quality and was so much of a portion I actually made three meals out of one plate. A definite must try if you're ever in this area. Trust me you will not be dissatisfied. We feel this place is even a step above Pappadeaux's.

Came here from out of state and we were BEYOND impressed. Not only was the food incredible, I think the best part was our server, Joseph. Every table in there was packed, and we felt so taken care of, every need, the tiniest things he remembered. He was incredible and we will always remember our experience because of him! Top notch.

This was an unexpected gem in Katy. The fish was fresh and everything tasted good. Some seafood restaurants in the area have gotten complacent with taste but not Babins. The toppings and sauces were not overdone. Crawfish was peeled correctly. The loaded baked potato was just that. There was no skimping on ingredients. Bread is given upon seating. The New Orleans and Louisiana style decor is very authentic.

Love coming here when I come to Texas. The atmosphere and the vibe here is very Chill. My waitress Eliza was amazing and very tentative. The food was great and our waitress Lauren was awesome. Not cheap so budget accordingly. Then again, we did order quite a bit. The spinach dip is pretty good and as a trout fan I did have the blackened trout. The wife got the snapper I believe which was also pretty good.

If you’re going on a Friday or Saturday, MAKE A RESERVATION, DAYS IN ADVANCE! Aside from confirming our reservation, we had minimal interaction with the hostess. She was polite. Our server; Andrew, provided amazing service. He gave excellent recommendations, kept our table cleared, and was extremely fast! The fried green tomatoes were bland, but the dipping sauce made up for it. Drinks were yummy! The Shrimp Kisses, Bourbon Street Pasta, and Shrimp were delicious!

Okay, I think I have found an adequate competitor in the Louisiana Creole/Cajun branded large restaurant chains....with Babin's. It's direct competitor would definitely be Pappadeaux's. After eating here, it hurts my heart to say it because I am a Pappadeaux's girl...... but Babin's might have them beat. The food was excellent, priced adequately, and the flavor was spot on. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with rice and my hubby ordered the seafood sampler. One bite of my stuffed shrimp and it took me right back home to Louisiana! Flavor was spot on and the frozen margarita 🍹 was delicious and not too overpowering. I had to taste my hubby's order 😉 and the fried seafood was great! The ambience is good and our waiter might as well owned the place because he knew that menu with his eyes closed... can't beat excellent service paired with delicious food....come on Pappadeaux's you have to step it up a notch someone's coming to take your throne on this one. Definitely hit up Babin's in Katy if you have the opportunity!

Everything was great! The shrimp cocktail was amazing. The house salad was fresh. The lettuce was fresh. Cucumbers were fresh. I also ate the Atchafalaya blackened catfish with dirty rice! I had a drink too lol. It was a Nola punch I believe. Drink was weak...

Babins was great!!! I hadn't been in quite some years but I was definitely pleased after dining here last week. The food and drinks were really good. For an appetizer I had the sting rays and for my entree I had the stuffed flounder. Both were good and I'd have them again.

This was a great place to throw my friends birthday party. The service was fast, and the food was excellent. The group appetizers, gumbo, and the entire were excellent. The fried seafood platter had fried stuffed crab and boudin stuff shrimp. It was excellent. The surf and turf were excellent, and the baked potatoes are very large.

We had a wonderful experience at Babin's for lunch today. All of our dishes were delicious! Charlie our server was outstanding and did a fabulous job. We wish him much success in his future. We will definitely be back to enjoy another wonderful meal. AND.... the chocolate bannana rolls are scrumptious!

Wow! Everything on the menu just looked amazing. We had the crab cakes and crawfish bisque for appetizer and couldn’t be more pleased. Main entrée was stuffed Halibut and the stuffed flounder pictured below. Dessert was the bread pudding. Service was excellent, environment was great and the food was top notch. This was our first time to visit and we live an hour and a half away. We will be back end of August for a birthday dinner now. Very pleasing visit.

Yummy!! Food is always delicious when I eat here!! Plenty parking, noticeable from I10. Easy on and off interstate! Large dining area with booths and tables. Nice bar area, with plenty seating there as well. Our server, Austin, was very nice and professional! Great restaurant with great food flavor!

I LOVEED IT HERE. Nancy our waiter was just so sweet! She helped me so much and I just couldn’t help but adore it. The food was amazingly seasoned but not too spicy. The food was cooked amazingly. I got 2 pound of crawfish with potatoes. I highly recommend the garlic butter it is made to perfection. The crawfish bisque which my mom got she said was amazing! It was also amazing for my sister who had her wisdom teeth come out. My mom got the creamy version which was also perfect for my sister. My sister got her own fish and the fish was cooked amazingly and flakey enough for my sister to eat comfortably. I absolutely adored this place and could talk about it for hours.

Because everything else was amazing, you’re getting 5 stars, because I work in marketing and know that a 1 star is detrimental to your business, but please read… We waited for one hour for a table, which it was a beautiful Friday night coming off Mardi Gras, so of course everyone was here! I had planned this date night for two days all because I could not stop thinking about getting a big basket full of hush puppies.. it was the only thing that I wanted...I had been dreaming about them! I had planned my whole day around them. Honestly, I might’ve whispered “this is the moment” when I sat down. And then… the server hit me with the words no human should ever have to hear: “We’re out of hush puppies.” The food I did get was delicious, perfectly cooked, no complaints there. But how am I supposed to enjoy great food when the ONE thing my soul craved was missing? It’s like going to Disney World and being told Mickey called in sick. So yes, everything tasted great. Yes, the service was lovely. But my heart? Empty. My plate? Hush‑puppy‑less. My dreams? Crushed like a cornbread‑flavored tragedy. I have emotional damage.

As always Babin's never fails to enlighten your taste buds. The Golden Tile is a favorite and this time I had with the stuffing. Pick your 2 sides. The drinks are not potent, at least on that day. The other dish was stuffed mushrooms and was delicious.

Ya know what — I’ve been in Katy for almost 7 years now and have never been by here. Came by w wife n fam for the first time n all of us are like wow , wish we’d have been by sooner. It’s a Monday so they got a market fish special : fresh catch fish plate for $20 cooked your way. We all enjoyed a bowl of crab bisque that was incredible we basically battle royaled for each bite. Our server Romelo was the man , very knowledgeable and took care of us. Def adding to our rotation !

About three weeks ago, we were fortunate to have Cooper wait on us and Babin's is fortunate to have Cooper. Your food is good and Cooper made the experience exceptionally good. We hope you apppreciate him as much as we have!

Great dinner tonight. Took my amazing wife tonight for a early Mother's Day celebration. This was our first time there and the food and ambience was great! My wife had a hard time pinpointing what she wanted to eat, which can be a good thing! All in all, food was great! She had the Crab cakes and I had the steak. Crazy good lunch at Babbins on Sunday after church! They have lunch specials until 4:00pm, 7 days per week, I was pleasantly surprised to learn. Eliza waited our table and killed it on the service and recommendations. She knows her products, combinations, and profiled my wife and me perfectly. Food was phenomenal, but could definitely use more seasoning; especially for “Cajun” dishes. Hosts aren’t the friendliest but the servers make up for it…when they actually get to you. They don’t have their fresh fish/catch on display anymore and tastes more farm raised than wild caught. Not really a big complaint, just more of an observation. Definitely will be back.

If you are craving seafood, this place is an absolute must-visit. It was suggested to me, and I'm so glad I went. They serve incredibly fresh seafood, and the highlight for me was the red snapper—it was truly the best I've ever had. It's been some years. Atmosphere wasn't as quaint as I remembered. Oyster Rockefeller was lazy and lacking... Oysters. In my opinion. Taste spot on but no longer a full oyster. The Fondue was perfect. The Ling cooked a bit long. But the Bread Pudding was the hit as usual.

Nice variety of seafood dishes. Very friendly staff and quick service for such a big restaurant. They say everything is bigger in Texas and apparently so are the shot glasses, because there aren’t any watered down drinks at this establishment. :).

Pre Corona visit to location at 17485 SH-249 S, Houston, 77064—which is now reportedly permanently closed—which is a real shame. We always enjoyed the food here and a good value. Staff was a little slow, but we thought it was due to our late night visits. In this particular visit, the sautéed veggies stole the show. So good! Will be missed.

This was my 2nd visit, on my 1st visit the food was amazing and my server provided outstanding service, even though the restaurant was packed, my family and I was made to feel like we were priority. This restaurant was a hit for me so I wanted to go back and savor some great seafood. The ambiance was great, we initially sat in a little quaint open terrace that reminded me of a French backyard garden with bistro chairs, you couldn't help but notice how New Orleans rich cultural traditions unfurl within the walls of the extraordinary physical backdrop of this restaurant. On my 2nd visit I was inclined to give a lower rating, because the food was underwhelming. The fried snapper was poorly seasoned and lacked flavor beneath the batter, the stuffed crabs tasted like seasoned breadcrumbs and the fried shrimp was uninteresting, the one amazing dish was the crab cakes, seasoned to perfection this dish stood out. I return the fish and the manager gladly removed it from my bill, she even took the time to ask and listen to the critique I had about the fish. So I'm going to say, though my 2nd visit was not pleasant, I'd still like to try this restaurant again. It could have been the time of day that I went, the 1st visit was in the evening and the 2nd visit was noon, or... The chef on staff that day...I still believe that this is a great restaurant for date night or dinner with family and friends... I'm sure you will enjoy the visual appeal this restaurant gives of life in New Orleans modest but stately expressive neighborhood.

Good food. Not a good selection for beer. The catfish suggests for happy hour are a good value. Would not order the crayfish pies again (only ate one of three ... rest went to the dogs). The gumbo has good flavor ... would order a variety other than shrimp only.

I’m pretty sure this was my first time to any Babin’s restaurant. The decor was nice and the food was decent, but I wouldn’t call anything about it “upscale”. Everything was nice. *See my videos of some of the food* The staff was very hospitable and welcoming and helpful. One thing I have to say that stood out was that it was very cold on the floor. The bathroom was actually warmer. Lol. The seafood fondue was really good as was the seafood salad. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food with no real complaints from the kids. We followed dinner with a ridiculous bread pudding. I’d never seen bread pudding presented with merengue on top, but it was really good and so were the beignets. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

First time trying this place and I was NOT disappointed. Great menu options. Great service, and most importantly, great food. I only have one request. It wasn't enough seasoning on my catfish. Other than that I loved this experience. Drinks were ok. Not strong enough for me but most places are that way. All in all it was a great experience and I will be back.

Mike Cravens is hands down the best server! Slow service due to Father's Day, but the food was amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if the cooks can fish, cause those fish are *fresh!* The waiter/waitresses are hardworking, and Mike was incredibly funny and a joy to have. The manager came out because we didn't receive our salads, and we were given free beignets and a sincere apology. I recommend amberjack for a firm, tasty fish! Again, my salute to Mr. Cravens!

I only went for happy hour, so I cannot comment on food for this visit. I will return to try some menu items soon. I definitely liked the energy, the service and the happy hour drink prices. Happy hour is until 7 PM weekdays.

4/11/25: While running an errand in Katy with my sister, we stumbled upon a Babin’s location - what a nostalgic find! My husband and I used to be regulars at the Willowbrook spot for Happy Hour, but sadly, it closed its doors years ago. The Frozen Cajun Twists hit the spot with a decent kick and plenty of flavor. However, the Happy Hour food menu has definitely seen some changes. The catfish nuggets were a solid choice - good flavor and great value - but the shrimp kisses were a letdown. Tiny, underwhelming, and lacking spice. If stuffed shrimp jalapeños are what you’re after, your best bet is to head next door to Saltgrass! For reference, Babin’s offers their Lunch Menu seven days a week until 4 pm, with Happy Hour running Monday–Friday from 3–7 pm and Saturday–Sunday from 11 am–6 pm.

It was excellent. Service was good at the bar. Went during lunch. Blackened Shrimp Pasta was 12.00 5 small shrimp but adequate for me. Blackened Catfish was a special also. Both were good. Lemon drop martinis are sooo good.

This was my first time here. We were having a night out with some couples and decided to have dinner here. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Our server, Jona, was very professional and excellent with recommendations for the restaurant. As a person from New Orleans, I'm always comparing these to New Orleans style restaurants to the ones from back home. This is a close match to the cuisine from home. The only thing was a slight mishap at the end of the night. Everything was great. Left wanting to Seay back down and try some more items. Great experience, Must Try!

Seafood was good. Service was pleasant and restaurant clean. drinks were fine. Unfortunately there was no nonalcoholic beer maybe not in vogue.

It was slightly above average. The price however is well above average, that's why it only got three stars it was lacking in flavoring. The quality of food is good. The service was great!

I doubt I will return to this location the woodlands is better. The food was poorly seasoned, my fish over cooked, I got the wrong drink with no replacement or apology just a nonsense excuse when I just had the drink prior to asking for the 2nd. Our waiter was rushing us and it was still an hour an a half before closing. The whole experience sucked.

One of the few places that we have missed since leaving Katy. Came back and today was a bit of a disappointment. Waitress was very nice and attentive, but the kitchen seemed off today. Food came out slowly even though the place was half full before the lunch rush. Our App, bbq shrimp, had good flavor but the shrimp was way over cooked. Unfortunately, this continued on the meal where again the shrimp on our fish was very over cooked and rubbery. My golden tile was also a bit overdone. My wife’s blackened shrimp were also rubbery and over done. Decent meal but historically the food was well cooked and so this time it was just a let down.

The food was great! We went for the first time and were delighted until we were told to move because of a party coming in. Why seats us in that area we had been there about an hour. We had paid and spent over 100 and were thinking of getting one more drink but we’re rushed out. Left a bad taste as far as service and will not be returning.

8/11 UPDATE: Disapointed. Our appetizers and food were PERFECT. Service was just terrible (for a lack of better words). The wait for EVERYTHING was unbearable! We renamed our server Raven, "dumpy" because she would disappear forever. The wait for refills, boxes, food lasted a lifetime...ugh...never asked if we were Landry's members and we didn't get to add/use points. Hosts could use some improvement.. Never friendly.. Other than it was super cold inside, service is always above & beyond. Fun place, intimate dining, great cocktails, appetizers & entrees. Have never tried a dessert, but I'm sure they're divine! Always a pleasure.

Took my family of 7 here for new year eve dinner, it was full house but luckily I made reservation since last week. Since it was packed, the food took a long time to came out. Anyhow, their crab spinach chips was good, the flavor was spot on so was the crab ball. Not a fan of their bread, it was hard and dry. Moving on to the main dishes, I ordered their bourbon street pasta, oh my it was so good and rich with flavor, the sauce was creamy, seasoning was good, too. Next is the crawfish étouffée, it was alright. The French quarter salmon and the crab cake dinner were good. The chicken Evangeline wasn’t good, chicken was dry though. The crawfish 1/2 and 1/2 was pretty much half fried crawfish and the other half was crawfish étouffée. The service was awesome though.

The drinks and dessert were very good. Probably the highlight of dinner. The crawfish queso was ok but not very warm. The egg rolls were pretty good but again not very warm. The stuffed shrimp very good but the fries weren’t hot. The shrimp poboy was tasty and the bread was correct and fresh. But the shrimp and fries weren’t hot. The fried fish crumbled apart very easily but it was tasty enough. All in all, didn’t love it enough to say I would return for a dining experience. But I would probably return to sit in the bar for drinks and appetizers.

Service was OK and not really stay on top of things when someone needs a refill. We ordered the calamari and it was tough and overcooked (rubbery). They did not offer to compensate for the calamari which tells me that did not care and still charge us for it. The fish was OK but there is no wow factor for the price that they charged. I cannot see myself going back where there are other restaurants that have better service and food.

The restaurant is part of the Landry's group.The family went for a late lunch. Not very impressed. This was the 2nd time at Babin and the 1st time was over a decade ago and now I remembered why I never frequently visited anymore. The waiter was friendly and greeted us with free French bread and butter to start with. We ordered appetizers and main meals. Here is my critique on each dishes: Appetizers: Crab cakes - the crab was too shredded and more stuffing so barely tasted any crab. I prefer to taste lump crab meat in my crab cakes. Raw Oysters: not bad for oysters from the gulf. It was fresh and a decent size for the season. Calamari - there were too much crust and it was tough and chewy. We complained to the waiter and he apologized but did NOT do anything more than letting the chef know and still charge us for the dish. At least be courteous to either remove it from our tab or compensate with another app.... Main Dishes: Bourbon Street Pasta - not bad; the pasta was cooked done to my taste. A bit too saucy and rich but something was missing (spice?); includes salad Snapper Pontchartrain - red Snapper topped with brown sauce which contained shrimp, crawfish, crab, mushrooms and a side of rice. Includes salad but replaced with seafood gumbo. The gumbo lacked depth of flavor. Tasted watery. The Snapper was meaty but bland and not enough of the sauce. Red Snapper with seafood brown butter sauce - it was ok but the filet was small. There was a small scallop in the sauce which was overcooked and tasted fishy. The chosen side was red beans and rice which was more of a filler and only took a few bites. Overall for the price, it is not worth it as the food did NOT leave us with a good impression and there was a lack of considerate customer service regarding our complaint on the calamari. We won't be back.

Our waitress was very nice and did a good job. Unfortunately, that's about all that was good about this place. The food was bland and poorly seasoned. The stingray appetizer was okay, but the seafood gumbo was poor. Lastly, the seafood jambalaya was TERRIBLE. There was barely any seafood in it, the rice was overcooked and clumped together, and the entire dish had little to no flavor. Had I not been there with a friend, I would have sent it back. I doubt I ate more than a quarter of the dish before letting the waitress take it away. Definitely should have tried a fresh fish dish; at least I would have gotten to actually eat some seafood. Very disappointing meal, especially for the $$ paid. If you want a good seafood meal, I would avoid this place; definitely better options out there.

Came here last week on a weekday and it literally took an hour for our food to arrive. What's the point in ordering a side dish like gumbo if it takes an arrive? I think that the server forgot about it and it "magically" appeared after we had mentioned the long wait. Might take a lot for me to return and it's a shame because this restaurant used to be good.

No way!! 👎 Not good, old batter on my fish and chips. It was flavorless and I had to peel off all the extra breading to even taste fish. The batter must be reused from a previous shift or date.

I can tell you that always liked the food I ordered. However, the waitress never greeted me, never introduced herself, and was so rude as to ask me do you want a drink while flying by with a tray of dirty dishes. She said ok I will be right back. Now mind you I gave her a pass but then she still came back never greeted me or asked me if I had any questions about the menu or if I needed help. At this moment I was highly pissed off. Then said do me you pick what you want or do you want to hear the special. Not good service at all. Then she tried to come at the end and ask was everything ok. I left no tip at all. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice and clean.

I attempted to place an order to go. After the bar staff, who was definitely understaffed for a Sunday afternoon, did not have time to take my order, I left. 2 managers on duty and not one offered to help her. Landry's do better.

This was definitely the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. First off, there was a BUG sitting on the table by the bathroom. I understand I was part of a large group but the food and the service was absolutely horrible. I received my appetizer an hour after I ordered it, and my entree was never put in so I received it extremely late and was never given the salad that comes with it. When my entree DID arrive, my food was bland. You could tell the sauce came from a can and that the seafood was boiled and just thrown into the pasta. Both waitresses who served my group, were extremely short with me and were barely around. The drinks we ordered were watered down and only tasted like JUICE. They had an attitude and were continuously arguing. It took 45 minutes just to receive my bill back. There’s a reason it was so empty. The calamari was okay but overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant nor location.

I guess they don’t care about serving people who come in as a couple instead of a group. My wife and I came here for lunch and when we told them we wanted a table they him-hawed around and finally told us it would be a 15-20 minute wait even though there were several open tables. Guess we’ll find somewhere else to go for seafood next time.

This place is pathetic. Placed an order to go. After 30 minutes the manager told me the bar tender never placed my order. Unbelievable. The food this time was great. It's just getting the food that is problematic. I've ordered "to go" 4 times. TWICE the food came out as ordered.

This place has definitely changed for the worst. If I could give it a negative (-5) rating, I would. Went here today with family to eat lunch and had an absolutely horrible experience. Things started to go wrong when a waiter named Joey who was not serving us, brought an extra drink we didn't request. When I politely questioned it, he let out what sounded like a grunt and walked away without a response. I spoke with the Manager, Kai who said he would look into it but never returned. Also, after speaking with the Manager, our waiter Joshua approached our table and when trying to speak with him, he stopped us, saying he prefers not to get involved since we already spoke with the manager. Josh was only concerned about the food, not the horrible experience we were having while he was our server. Just want to point out, there was no follow up by the Manager, no apology from the random waiter who wondered over to our table and disrupted our lunch. I want to make sure this is clear, mistakes happen so it wasn't bringing over the extra drink by mistake, it was the rude behavior that followed, the lack of care and concern about our experience from all involved. We used to visit this place often, but the service has definitely gone down. The food was just okay. Overall, a very disappointing experience. We have scratched this restaurant off the list of go to restaurants as we will not be back.

We had one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. My wife and I go to this restaurant quite often. They usually do a great job. We ordered and appetizer and it took over 30 minutes to arrive. We ordered their stingrays, which are shrimp stuffed jalapeños with breading and cheese. When they finally arrived, I had nearly eaton one when my wife saw that the shrimp were raw! I could not believe it and nearly got sick. Our waitress was very nice and took them away, apologized and went and told the manager. Besides that fiasco, the bread for the table took 20 minutes to arrive. We ordered lunch and the salad before our fish coarse took 20 minutes to get to our table and then the entree took another 20 minutes. We were in the restaurant for one hour and 50 minutes! To add insult to injury the manager never bother coming over and speaking with us. I guess he just did not care. I am very unhappy with this situation.
