Love this spot. It’s a must if you frequent the circle. Inviting vibe as you walk in. The staff is awesome; they know their menu (which is delicious). Their “crispy Tuna” 🍣 app is incredible with so much flavor. Must have! From there all the ‘mains’ are delicious with so much flavor. I love the “fish&chips” but the Cajun Shrimp 🦐 we had last time was phenomenal. See you soon.
While searching for a restaurant to treat my parents to for my mom's birthday, I happened to come across this restaurant. My parents really enjoyed their time there and were so touched by how special they made my mom feel special! They loved the atmosphere and noted how clean the place was and they really enjoyed the food (especially the sea bass)! My mom loved it so much she said she wants to go back with me and my husband, next time we visit (we live abroad)! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this day special for my mom! 💓
Very fresh seafood dishes and the best sea bass I’ve ever had. Served with healthy side dishes and add a glass of wine 🍷 to make it memorable! Highly recommend!
Updated for Second time visiting. food quality and service was as good as the first. Black cod was cooked perfectly, flaky and seasoned well. Starter of grilled avocado was exceptional. Will be back . Great lunch experience just off the circle in orange. Classy but casual vibe, service from the minute we walked in was attentive and friendly. Great menu and all choices we made we’re tasty, clearly fresh ingredients and well seasoned/flavored. We each had a cup of the seafood chowder which had a great depth, not too creamy. Ahi Loki with taro chips was a great accompaniment. For mains I had the butternut squash tajine with salmon which was excellent. Salmon was cooked perfectly and the butternut/ bean sauce was slightly spiced with great flavors. Highly recommend.
Food was so good. Fully was pleasant and helpful and the manager was attentive as well. We’ll definitely be back. Specially for 1/2 off happy hour wine bottle.
Wonderful experience with fabulous seafood. We were seated over an hour late, but it was because of a giant trade show in town and all parties in the first seating arriving late. The host did the best he could to get our party of 8 to the table as soon as possible. Every dish was delicious. The black cod special was amazing! The fish & chips were fabulous. Note: alcohol served is beer & wine only. No cocktails.
O SEA doesn’t disappoint… Food, services and ambiance are all 5 stars worthy! Services shines as soon as you walk in , making a new customer feel welcome. All staff are personable and make you feel super comfortable. Let’s talk about the how delicious every bite of food was. To put it simply, myself, hubby and even my five year old cleaned our plates!! This is definitely a must try not once but as a repeat customer. You won’t be disappointed.
Very impressive seafood restaurant in the heart of oldtown orange. I'm not a huge seafood person myself, but I would eat here everyday happily. The fish here is prepared so well and is absolutely delicious. Lots of options and everything we had was just top tier. They also have a very extensive drinks menu and lots of local craft beers. Staff was also really good even though it was a really busy Saturday night. Can't wait to try this place again.
My family and I went to a completely different restaurant. When I walked by this place, the design caught my eye. I love the loft style, so I dragged everyone here. We were not disappointed. The food is excellent and the Spanish sparkling wine is not expensive at all. I've drunk it before in Barcelona, and I'll tell you that the price is great.
My journey to discover a seafood restaurant that resonates with my palate led me to this charming establishment, where the freshness of its offerings and the skillful preparation left a lasting impression. Osea's Happy Hour provided the perfect introduction, with a menu that tantalizingly hinted at the broader culinary prowess of the restaurant. The Cioppino, which I was compelled to order twice due to its sheer deliciousness, emerged as the star of my dining experience. Each piece of fish in the Cioppino was meltingly tender, a testament to Osea's mastery in seafood preparation. Despite the broth being a tad sweeter than my liking, the quality of the seafood transcended this minor discrepancy. The Ceviche, with its clean and healthful taste, showcased a minimalist approach, allowing the natural flavors of the seafood to shine through. The accompanying taro chips, though slightly overcooked, added a thoughtful crunch to this subtly flavored dish. However, my experience with the oysters was mixed. One arrived with half its shell missing, and my favorite, the Kumamoto variety, was out of stock. This was a slight disappointment, as the full enjoyment of oysters lies in their complete presentation and the slurping of the briny juice. The Tuna on Rice was a comforting dish from the Happy Hour menu, though it could benefit from a bit more spiciness to elevate its flavor profile. The service at Osea matched the high quality of the food. Attentive and efficient, the staff ensured that the dining experience was as smooth as it was enjoyable. Their professionalism significantly enhanced the overall ambiance of the restaurant. In conclusion, Osea has not only met but exceeded my expectations for a seafood dining experience. It stands as a rare gem in the area, reminiscent of the high-quality seafood experiences I've cherished in New York City. It’s a must-visit for seafood aficionados!
Went here a while ago for happy hour, so this is a belated review. The food is really nice. The oysters are great, and the octopus was one of my favorites. And don't forget the wine, never forget the wine, very very good! Service was really good and friendly as well. We will be back more often!
Tried this place out on a Friday night and made reservations for 7:30pm. The place was busy when we got here but the staff was super friendly and was able to seat us within 5 minutes. The first impression I got from this place was a very cool and casual but bright and airy type of place. Very well decorated and comfortable seating. Please also note that this place only serves beer and wine for alcohol. So we ordered the Octopus appetizer and it was amazing! Only thing I wish was that it was bigger because you only get one tentacle. I ordered the Crispy Oaxacan hot shrimp plate with salad and that was delicious. Has a little spice but nothing most people can't handle. Might be on the saltier side but I loved it. My friend ordered the Super Tuscan plate with the cod and that was delicious as well. Great flavor on the fish and the potatoes were delicious. I also ordered the Jamaica Agua Fresca and my friend ordered the Yuzu lemonade. They bring you a refill in a carafe which was cool. Our server felt bad because the appetizer came out a little late so she brought us the Thai milk tea sundae which was so good! Very sweet but very good! All in all I will definitely be back to try the other fish dishes. The price point was just about right but maybe just wish the portions were a little bigger but I also eat a lot so I say that about everything.
We went to O Sea for the first time with another couple. Our table was ready in time, our server was wonderful. We had a few appetizers with a bottle of wine for starters. Then headed to the main courses. Everything we ate was exceptional. My wife had the sea bass and I had the salmon market plate. Both were some of the best seafood we have had. Just delicious. In addition, we had another diner come over and offer a glass of his table's wine. He said that the tradition is that when you bring your own bottle of wine, you have to share a glass with another table. We made a friend and found there were people we both knew. What a nice evening at O Sea.
Excellent well curated wine list. Casual elegance and class, with great service and amazing food. Have finally made our way through the entire menu! Regulars now ... and we live in San Diego!
O Sea has quickly become one of my absolute favorite seafood restaurants. I’ve been coming here since they opened and the experience is incredible. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable and the quality of their fish is top-notch. I just had a special black cod dish (pictured) that is one of my favorites they’ve ever created. For dessert, the thai tea blondie was to-die for!
High quality and refined flavors. It's a bit pricey but it's totally worth it!
A great find in the Orange Old Towne Circle. Friendly service, adventurous wines and great menu with an approachable feel. Ceviche, chicken, burgers , happy hour with 1/2 off wine, and the fresh seafood! Great for events and wine dinners. Light airy, fresh fish and produce. The chowder soup is delish! And the Taro chips are a must.
We visited this place for the first time last night, I must give them kudos for the great service, food and atmosphere. Amelia was superb, the manager was very attentive and she visited out table to make sure all was going well. Thank you guys for the great service. We will be back and bring our friends. Robert
The food choices are great. The food and atmosphere make it worth a date night.
The menu is unique and delicious! Service was great. I live near the Orange Circle and frequent the restaurants there often, this is the best meal you'll find in the area. Huge wine selection to complement the food, and the atmosphere is great. Check out their corking policy. We gave a glass and recieved a delicious glass.
Excellent place. We came back for a second time after a lovely experience a few months ago when we were in town. Round 2 was just as good. Food is great. Staff is wonderful. Mike has taken care of us each time like we are regulars. Highly recommend.
We LOVE this place. What a gem. We have so many favorites, and they have so many gluten-free options!! Gf fried calamari; gf fried fish and chips!! We also love their mussels (it's like a tom ka gai version). And their raw oysters are so lovely - had some of the best oysters of my life last time we were there (I think they were for WA State). And their wine list is so fun! Lots of fun and interesting wines, and also great beers. The service is also lovely. We drive all the way from LA county to get good seafood here. :) It's a beautiful spot for a date night or celebration.
This place is consistent and I absolutely love the seafood here. My favorite dish, although most of them are fantastic, is the Lean and Mean Plate with Halibut. Definitely give it a try, and the ceviche. They have great selections on wine too. Love this new restaurant in the Orange Circle.
Service here was incredible! After finishing my first drink they brought a whole pitcher of it to make sure I was never empty. Food came out quicker than I would’ve thought for fish and a burger. I ended up getting the chocolate cake and it was delicious, as well as the burger.
The vibe is great, the interior spaces are calming and really pleasant, the Oaxacan shrimp is PERFECTLY executed. Why isn't ALL breading exactly like this? Mike is a delight and truly caring about his guests. The bus staff is eager to help. They are truly doing so so many things right, they deserve all the success they will earn. For people who care about clean and equally delicious food and proper execution, not just sloppy mounds of food (talking to you Cheesecake Factory!), this is your place. Great wines. Not pretentious, just the right level of elegance & California informality.
Absolutely refreshing, superb service and food food bursting with all sorts of flavors. I'm sure there is not a dish there that I would not order. The lovely perk is pairing wine with your meal! Will be back for happy hour soon.
Absolutely delicious, and fresh. Celebrated a birthday which the restaurant brought us a dessert. We bought a second dessert and we all dug in. Exceptional happy hour with wines 50% off, and discounted Oyster! Service was top notch!
I went on a Dinner date to this place . And let me tell you the service was excellent from the moment we got there Mike greeted us and got us in right away . The ceviche was excellent we tried their fall menu and it was delicious. Overall the whole experience was great. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Mike and Chef German were extremely welcoming.
What a hidden gem in the heart of Old Towne Orange! When we went each of us really loved the meals we ordered. The way they fuse flavors from different cuisines to create their menu makes this one of the best restaurants in OC that I’ve tried all year. Everything is very fresh, their wine selection is INSANE and the ambiance is just beautiful! Such a cute design and a great place be whether it’s date night or happy hour you will not regret comin! Everything will meet your expectations with a rotating seasonal and sustainable menu. Definitely a neighborhood gem!
SERVICE Fantastic! Extremely welcoming, kind, accommodating and knowledgeable staff. QUALITY Very fresh and high quality meats and ingredients! They even cook in grapeseed oil which is unheard of. Most restaurants use canola, soybean, or vegetable oil because it's cheaper. FOOD Everything was incredibly delicious! Tried the grilled fish tacos, albacore tuna hand roll, fries and for our kid, per special request, they made a chicken taco which she loved!
I’ve been here twice for dinner and have been so impressed both times! Of all of the restaurants in the circle, this is one feels a cut above the rest. The crispy brussels and the O Sea burrito are my favs. They also have a great wine list, and give paring recommendations. I love their commitment to sustainability, and the ambiance inside the location is perfect for an intimate dinner.
Wow. This place had been on my list to try for a while, I finally had the opportunity to check it out and it blew away my expectations. The space is beautiful, the food was delicious (get the salmon ceviche), and a majority of the menu was available gluten free. Good wines, good service. I'm already thinking about the next time to come back.
All I can say is, I want to eat here every day. Amazing in every aspect of the restaurant experience. The most well operated and managed restaurant in Southern California. The menu is flawless the interior design is a warm hug. Its just phenomenal. Love the staff too.
Our server Criselle did a great job. She was very friendly, made good conversation, and always checked in on us to see if we needed anything. The food was also excellent. Thank you for the impeccable meal and dining experience!
We tried O Sea for the first time this week and had a great experience! The space is beautiful, clean & cozy. The staff were all incredibly friendly and most importantly the food was delicious! We started with burrata cheese with macha, some oysters and salmon ceviche. Everything was fresh & delicious. The ceviche with taro chips took me right back to Hawaii. And the oysters came with a delicious Thai cocktail sauce. For entrees, we tried the chicken sando, fish & chips and the O Sea burrito with shrimp. All were fantastic. I love that there are so many flavor influences on the menu so everybody is happy no matter what they are looking for. The wine menu is eclectic and we enjoyed several glasses trying different things. I look forward to coming back to try more!
What a lovely place with an amazing selection of wines and delicious food. Mike was extremely friendly and accommodating for our group. He really knows is stuff and has brought in some excellent wines at a great value. You must try this place if you're in the area.
Food was amazing. The oysters were absolutely fresh. The yellowtail was sear and seasoned well. The best part was the side salad. It was sweet with a little acidic bite.
Very tasty! It was happy hour so I tried their canned wine, Head High Pinot Noir. It was decent, but 1/3 the size of a bottle AND discounted! So, in my book this moved it up to good! I also tried the Nautilus Baja Oysters. Very good flavor! Definitely would come back with friends and family. They do have you order and pay when you walk in. This means you set the tip before you are served and before you eat. My service was excellent and everyone was extremely friendly! This included the executive chef who seemed to be training someone. With the setup like this I hope they continue to keep a focus on excellent customer service! Thanks O Sea! I love randomly stopping in to amazing spots!
We SO enjoyed this lovely place! The decor was bright and open, the staff was knowledgable and friendly and the food was so delicious! My husband and I both had the poke bowl and it was outstanding. The wine selection is approachable and very diverse. I wish we lived in California....we'd come here often.
The ceviche is simply the best ever. I think it is the coconut, the freshness of the fish, the crispness of the veggies that create the perfect combination in every bite. Not a single flavor fights for dominance or overwhelms the fish. Everything else on the menu is probably good. Even excellent. (Honestly, I haven't actually tried anything else because the ceviche is amazing, and I refuse to share it.) It is so good that I will happily take 3 freeways, 2 detours and brave the horrendous parking situation to get it.
Alyse and the food never disappoint. My annual visit to Anaheim always leads me this place. The best seafood, ambiance and Alyse makes it feel like I hit the trifecta. And for what they offer, it's a great value . Need to stop in more often.
We had an amazing lunch at O Sea. What a great place to take our out of town guests. The food was outstanding, as fresh as it gets! Just a few of the things we enjoyed, the crispy rice appetizer and the crab cakes. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant and the wine list great! It’s just the kind of place you leave, already looking forward to your next visit.
We had fantastic experience at O SEA last weekend. the Ceviche and halibut were superb and the entire sea food menu is unique with touches of Asian and Latin flavors. Great ambience and service and it was a pleasure chatting with Mike who is the owner. We only hope they will open up more locations in SoCal soon!
The Super Tuscan entrée with the wild caught yellowtail is my newest obsession. The fish fillet was cooked to absolute precision and perfection. The blend of flavors took me back to my adventures through Mediterranean Europe. Everything in this dish screams, "You'll be back for more."
One of the best seafood dishes that I had for the longest time. Full of flavors, but not salty. The wine pairings recommended by the server were excellent and reasonably priced. I will be back for sure! Thank you
I've been waiting for O Sea to open, and it did not disappoint! I think O Sea might be my new favorite restaurant in Orange! I love Chef Yamaguchi's artful, flavorful dishes. I love that his creations are informed by his Japanese and Mexican heritage -- plus other interesting influences. I have celiac disease, so I can only eat in restaurants where I'm confident that they're knowledgeable about gluten issues. Everything that is gluten-free (and dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian) is clearly marked on the menu. I really love the "choose your own adventure" aspect of the main dishes and salads -- on the night I went, there were seven seafood choices, plus grilled chicken or tofu to pair with the dinner plates. Ingredients are responsibly and locally sourced. Fresh drinks -- like pineapple-Thai basil refresher and Yuzu lemonade -- are refillable. You order at the counter and take a number, so there is somewhat of a "fast casual" feel to O Sea, but it's the nicest fast casual restaurant ever. I had the Kimchi'd Brussels sprouts with Mexican Halibut, and my husband had Mexicali, also with halibut. We also split the fresh ceviche -- which wasn't really ceviche, because there was no citrus to "cook" the fish. But, it was so tasty, we had to refrain ourselves from licking out the bowl. Prices are very reasonable, staff is helpful and friendly, dishes are fantastic, the vibe & decor is clean and modern, ingredients are fresh, food is creative. I will DEFINITELY return!!
Really fresh flavors and lovely presentation. Friendly service. Interesting decor. Highly recommend. Open for lunch (yay!). The mussels were excellent. If I had known the sauce was going to be that good, I would have ordered rice or bread to sop it up. The frites I ordered were crispy and well seasoned, even if they weren't useful for that purpose. My friend had the fish tacos with seabass and was well pleased.
Place is the bomb. Food is amazing. Never a painful wait for a table or for your food. Mike the owner made it a point to come to our table and check that everything was up to par. Will be back.
The atmosphere kind of takes me away to being on a boat. Looking across the dining area and staring at the lights with the white background really takes me there. I love this restaurant. The oysters are nonstop fresh and delicious. I had never tried the lime dipped in tajin along with the mignonette it is absolutely to die for. I don’t know where their oysters are coming in from but I hope it doesn’t stop it almost completes the whole menu. That al pastor sea bass was absolutely unforgettable and so unexpectedly delicious, only saying that because I have never had it before, and so glad that I did. That cioppino will always get me ready for a walk or a nap. Consistently perfect, and what can I say about the calamari. Best fried calamari in all of Orange County
The atmosphere is was nice and give off a cozy feel. The food was reasonable price for what you get. The seaweed salad, and the breeta cheese bread was a great appetizer, the breeta cheese and bread was delicious, the seaweed salad was okay on it own, but we pair it with our entree made it more flavorful. The chicken katsu sandwich was great but bit on dry side which it had more sauce. The fish and chip was great not to say.
The food here is delicious. Increadible wine selection and exceptional service. My favorite is the fish tacos with ecuadorian sea bass. The burger is surprisingly also bomb. I didnt like the lobster roll as much but have tried many of their specials and love it here.
Lovely add to Old Towne Orange! Having lived here since I went to Chapman I don't love every new restaurant here but I really do love O Sea! Mike, the owner, was especially busy on a Friday night bussing tables, serving food, and greeting guests! The restaurant is counter-service so you order first then find your table. Not sure if this is most efficient yet but I expressed that I had a party of 5 and Mike was accommodating for my party. My favorite items were the fries (with the scallion aioli 👌), Mexicali corn, mussels, and handrolls. I know Orange isn't next to the beach but the seafood was fresh. The dessert was ok. We tried both the blondie and tres leches. The blondie needed the boba pearls to be cooked more and the tres leches needed more time to absorb all the three leches. Their menu is seasonal and will change with the season but the customer service is exceptional. I hope they stay in the circle forever.
Fantastic experience. My family already plans to dine here again soon. Seafood was fresh and the fusion was creative and tasty. The owner selected an amazing northern Italian white (in honor of the Euro Cup, I’m sure) that went beautifully with our taste bud preference and meal. I encourage all to stop by and enjoy a meal.
Amazing food, magnificent service, and great atmosphere. I’m obsessed with this place. I totally forgot to take a picture of my sea bass but it was amazing. By the time I got it my impulse gave in to devour it. I definitely recommend this place. It’s new, super fast service and very amazing food and presentation.
The food here is simply delicious. The kind and personable staff add to the experience, making you feel like your table is the only one that matters. Bring your pups (they have outdoor seating) and enjoy all that this restaurant has to offer!
Seafood for thought. Well thought out dishes. Excellent service and ambiance is relaxed. The sound system plays a nice vibe feel. I enjoyed the fried shrimp. At 10+ in flavor and batter was crunchy with a drizzle of hot oil sauce . Also had thai salad with delicious white shrimp. Sooooo good. Chief David and staff are great. Takes the time to meet you and run a nice establishment. Good job O Sea
I always enjoy going to the O SEA. Everything on the menu is so good but for me the wine curation is the best part. A real high-brow selection. I'll have to make it to happy hour when bottles are half off.
Interesting menu and good atmosphere for semi-casual (or nicer) dinner. Interior is cute. Food: Asian & Mexican fusion Seafood. I love the idea of many of their dishes, but wish they pushed stronger on the flavors. For ex was really excited to try their oysters with Thai red curry cocktail sauce + yuzu, but was disappointed that I didn't taste it at all in the sauce. Overall the food is really good, just wish they went all out on those flavors since that's what makes the menu so unique! They have a great selection of wine and beers. I really liked their orange wine. Recommendations: - Small dishes: Burrata cheese w tomatillo salsa, Hand roll with salmon skin chicharron (very good!). Really enjoyed the yaro chips that come with ceviche! - To share: Crispy oaxacan hot shrimp
We loved otabletop. O Sea. The Cioppino was one of the best I have had, the swordfish burrito was stunning, the black mussels in green curry, exquisite. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. Tables and upholstery are showing signs of wear after five years. I would suggest wipeable surfaces for the banquettes ans a stone or stone facsimile for the tabletops.
Great place something diferent no easy to find fish restaurants.nice ambiance super clean! ...I order a wild seabass ...great and well done!! with garden salad ( wow l love it) and rice...I highly recommend the place.. great job dudes
Very simple and elegant ambience - perfect for dates. The service was excellent - the whole staff was very attentive to details. The food was quite good except for the chowder (chowdah?) which was average (a bit runny and on the bland side). I would recommend the grilled oysters and the mussels (moule et frites). The main entree was good but the portion could be a tad more.
Love the interior decor here! Dined in with a gal pal. Ordered the poke. Well seasoned. Had peas 2 ways with halibut. It was tasty but very salty. Also ordered the grilled squid Caesar salad. We’ll seasoned. Service was attentive and professional. I would def come back again.
Nice restaurant for seafood.the fish and chips was good however the batter was a little thick and bland, the fish tacos were better with a choice of fish ,iced tea was very tasty. Overall pretty good ,a little on the pricey side but the location is good with a chill vibe, wine is also available
My family and I had a lovely lunch at O Sea, cozy restaurant in the heart of downtown Orange. This is the second time we dined here - food was very delicious with fresh ingredients. Nice atmosphere with great service. For appetizer, ordered the crispy Oaxacan hot shrimp which comes with fries - too much fried food but delicious with a little spicy kick. Nice to try but next time I would order something else. For our entree my 10 year old son ordered the grilled fish taco with white seabass and he loved the taco - one was just enough for him after the appetizer. I ordered the O Sea burrito - nice flavors but very filling after the appetizer. It wasn't a favorite of mine. My husband ordered the lean and mean plate with the columbian salmon - cooked well with nice flavors. Everything we ordered was nicely plated with fresh ingredients. Atmosphere was quaint and got crowded. Service was good. Definitely would go back again to try other dishes.
This is a gluten free review. Gluten free menu: Their menu is LOADED with gluten free options that are labeled GF. You don’t need to ask for a special menu. What I ordered: Started with the Spicy Wild Fijian Albacore Tuna on Crispy Rice. Wild Oregon Cod Ling Fish and Chips as my entree. Chocolate Cake for dessert (oh yeah!) Gluten free options: 5/5 Almost half the menu says GF. It’s awesome. You’ll find something to eat, no problem. Food: 3/5 The cod was HUGE and I love that it’s gluten free without request. I can’t think of another place where I can order gluten free fish and chips in Orange County. The food came out hot, fresh, and crispy. I didn’t love the Tuna dish or the cake. Didn’t finish them. They tasted okay, nothing I’d be craving. I think the Tuna dish would have been next level if it had crispy potato (think hash brown) on the bottom instead of the rice. The rice was over-fried and dark brown. Too crispy throughout. It had only a slight kick, but not too spicy. I’ve had much better gluten free flourless chocolate cake. Service: 4/5 Our server was super friendly and attentive. She gave us a rundown on the most popular menu items (most of which were gluten free). It took about 10 mins to receive our appetizer and our entrees came out within 5 minutes after we finished eating the appetizer. Location: 4/5 It’s in the beginning of the orange circle. Nice area to visit. Parking was easy to find at 5pm on a Friday night. Ambiance: 4/5 Casual and comfortable environment. I love the minimalist decor. It feels good in here. They had a good designer. Price: 4/5 $76 for two before tip. Two entrees, appetizer, milk tea, and a dessert. Not bad. Overall score: 4/5 I’d come back and try some other appetizer, like the grilled octopus, which they say is braised for 2.5 hours then grilled. Seems like a good place to go with at least 4-6 people and share some dishes.
The food was okay, nothing too memorable—but the real highlight is the wine! They offer 50% off by the bottle during happy hour, Monday to Friday from 2–5 PM. Definitely worth stopping by just for that great deal!
1 star for the atmosphere. 1 star for the service, and 1 star for the freshness of the food. However, the food was bland and mediocre, and portions were really small for the price we paid. I had high hopes for this place and had my Valentine's Day lunch here. We ordered 5 diahes. The oyster was very small. The cioppino was decent but the shrimp and fish in it were too tough and stringy. The dish of the day black cod was again small and the fish was so undercooked it was so watery. The ceviche was ok but again came with very little fish and chips. Lastly the salmon skin handroll the rice was undercooked and tasted like something you get at a convenience store. The restaurant wasn't even busy when we were there so we were really disappointed.
Fresh fish that is cooked perfectly, but the sauces may seem bland, depending on your plate. There was a guest with dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating. Portion sizes were average sized. In all, not bad but I would expect more at this price point.
Service for this place was pleasant. The waiter was really nice and made good recommendations. Food - we ordered three dishes 1. Half dozen Oysters - they were delicious. I believed we ordered the Washington oysters which were large and sweet. We enjoyed every bite. 9 out of 10 2. We ordered the Jumbo shrimp with a side of fries. The shrimp is seasoned in a Cajun style marinade, which is tasty and they seem to be deep fried. It was a bit salty but we still enjoyed them. Give it a 7.5 out of 10. 3. Fish & chips but you get fries. This dish was the worst fish and chips I've ever ordered. We ate most of it, so I didn't ask for a new dish or my money back but after I paid, I made sure to let the waiter know that the taste was plain and bland, the outside was deep fried, but the inside, the fist seemed watery, moist, and undercooked as if it was frozen and not properly defrosted. It had so much water as I took a bite, I left a large portion of it because the flavor was horrible. Such a simple dish came out tasting horrible. 1 out of 10 for this dish. Due to service and the other dishes, I give this place a 3 star out of 5 but I don't think I'll return.
The food was very good, nice presentation. But overpriced. I had the lobster roll and it was not much lobster! I would have given it 5bstars across the board if it didn't feel so chintzy with the filling. They could do better
Greeted by a friendly host, and was taken to our table. The waiter brought us water. I ordered the Lean and Mean, unfortunately. The Seabass was dry and overcooked, the salad was inedible as it was swimming in salad dressing, and the rice was flavorless. The place was also empty at lunch time. I really wanted to find a place with delicious fish; this was not it.
Nice restaurant, great staff, but I just wasn’t impressed with anything we ordered. Cesar salad had no anchovy/umami flavor going on which is a big disappointment. The tajin was an interesting touch but it overpowered the salad because there was no anchovy flavor to pair with all that salt. The Oaxacan shrimp were good— nice texture and great flavor in the breading. But I was really unimpressed with the grilled octopus. I rarely order it in the states because it rarely, if ever gets cooked well, but I’ve heard the octopus was great at O Sea so figured I’d give it a try. But it was just ridiculously tough and chewy and really not enjoyable at all.
Our food was mediocre and the service was off. We were expecting a delicious seafood feast based on the reviews, but we were sorely mistaken. We should’ve gone to a seafood restaurant in Little Saigon. Overall, I felt ripped off. In addition to the flavorless food and small portions, the waitstaff seemed unhappy, like they didn’t want to be there. Cioppino: this was the saddest, smallest amount of cioppino and seafood I have ever seen. The white fish was overcooked anf chewy. It was also so small. Oysters: not as fresh as we hoped. Kumamoto at Whole Foods tastes fresher. After ordering it dozen, I felt ripped off. Tuna hand roll was flavorless so I’m guessing the tuna was not that fresh. The Oaxacan fried shrimp and the coconut milk with fish were good. That’s about it. Never again!
We came during a terribly busy day with only 2 servers. Took 15 minutes after seating just to get mediocre appetizers and we decided to just immediately leave after paying. The host was extremely kind and generous, contrary to the 2 servers who basically ignored us until I waved someone over. It was a full house but we weren't ever looked at once. The host waived the appetizers but i would love to come back during oc restaurant week or something.
I recently dined at OSea for lunch and, unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. While the restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly and attentive, the food left much to be desired. We started with a few appetizers All three appetizers were disappointing—lacking the distinct flavors and vibrancy you’d expect from a seafood-focused menu. The main courses were even more problematic. Fish and Chips Tacos Grilled Salmon, and Salads, were borderline inedible. The fish dishes were flavorless, and the salad was overwhelmingly bitter, making it hard to enjoy. Despite the pleasant ambiance and courteous service, the poor execution of the food overshadowed everything. With so many amazing restaurants to choose from, I wouldn’t return to OSea. There’s simply no reason to settle for mediocrity when better options are available.
Let me start by saying the food here is good; everything is fresh and innovative. It’s also very clean overall. On the other hand, the dining area is incredibly cramped, to the point that it made my dining experience a little bit stressful. Further, the service was not great. The waiter was neglectful at times and even a little bit surly. Prices were fair though definitely not cheap. It’s hard to put my finger on the overall vibe of this place—it’s like a fast casual vibe striving to be gourmet. It’s definitely a popular spot so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Cute small restaurant in Orange. Ordered the calamari, octopus à la plancha, oysters and the crispy Oaxacan hot shrimp. I was expecting elevated Mexican fusion seafood flavors suggested by some of the menu language but left disappointed. No complaints on the service, just the flavors and confusing “fusion” menu. The hot shrimp, tasted good but more like buffalo wings. They weren’t spicy at all. They also looked like buffalo wings in color which didn’t help their case. The shrimp though were large in size and a good snack. The octopus was okay and had very crispy potato cubes COVERED in pesto underneath which was a confusing concept if thinking elevated Mexican but beautifully plated I’ll give it that. The oysters were okay. I think that’s more on the variety offered and personal preference. Plump something and I can’t recall the other kind but they were okay for me. Maybe I’ll like the next offering. As for the calamari, it was not memorable outside of the Oaxacan chili oil. If I were to go again, I’d probably take someone who can’t handle spicy flavors but want a safe choice of fresh seafood meal in a cute place with familiar easy on the palate flavors. Truthfully speaking though, I don’t think I’d go back on my own accord. It was not what I was looking for and I left unfulfilled.
Unfortunately, the black cod dish just doesn't have balance of flavor. The fish is cooked well, but its sub components are very sweet. A lemon is provided, but it's not able to balance the sweetness, the dish needs more acidity overall.
I was so disappointed. The reviews were so good but my food was bland at best. My halibut was dry and had no seasoning whatsoever. My Cesear salad was so salty. One of the most disappointing and expensive meals ever. Our waitress and staff was very friendly and professional. Won't be back.
Just finished dinner here tonight. Atmosphere is nice but otherwise had a fairly negative experience. It began with the server twice asking if we were ready to order. Upon ordering, she announced they were out of halibut and steak with the former being what all four of us were going to have. That could have been avoided by letting us know such in the first place. After a minute and upon re-ordering, she then let us know what we had all just re-ordered, the halibut, was out. She explained the chef was new and it was Sunday essentially saying he didn't yet know what and how to order ingredients yet. Eventually, we got our meals of our second and third choices. The meals were marginal at best for a $200 tab. At the end of our meal my family leaves to go get desert while i stay back to pay. The server then comes and asks me if "we" would like desert because it was going to be comped because of the fish fiasco. Had she just announced that a little earlier maybe the offer and the desert would have made the experience a little better. Needless to say, we didn't get the comped deserts. The whole time, this manager-seeming guy is walking back and forth seemingly oblivious to at least our negative experience. He seemed only interested in talking to his friends more than anything. Our daughter will be attending Chapman but we will not again be attending this restaurant.
O Sea is a minimally decorated restaurant in Orange, California. I had lunch there on a Tuesday. There were only 3 parties. Business was slow. There were only one manager, one waiter and one staff in the open kitchen. I sat at a booth. There was a big globe lamp stuck out from the wall, shining right at my eye level - a weird design idea. The service was slow. I had my worst salmon skin hand roll. The grilled peach and arugula salad certainly did not worth the money ($21.95). It had a bed of arugula and a few small pieces of cold grilled peach. One peach wedge even had a small piece of the core. It was hazardous. The added skirt steak was stale. The tuna on the albacore tuna on crispy rice was not that fresh. I already crossed out this restaurant from my list.
Food allergy review: I rarely leave a place without ordering, but the gluten-free menu at this place is an actual lie. They don’t have any indications about cross-contamination risk on their paper menus. I first asked about whether they had a dedicated fryer for the gluten-free fish and chips. They said no. I understand that sometimes there’s confusion about fryers, so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I then began asking about their grilled entrees and quickly learned they were unsafe too. For example, they had a black cod special on the menu that was marked as gluten-free. I asked whether the caramelized fish sauce was gluten free, and they said yes. I then asked if it was made in-house, and they said no they just caramelize store-bought fish sauce. I asked to see ingredients on the label, and the first ingredient was wheat. Then they began insisting that the second special, a grilled halibut with a green verde sauce, was gluten-free. I asked whether the verde sauce had beer and they could not answer me and said they could leave it off. I also never got a clear answer on whether the masa dumplings had any additional flour added or if the baking powder contained gluten, or whether they steamed them with water previously used for gluten-filled kitchen items. I explained that this meant the items were not gluten-free, and was told the manager believes these things to be gluten-free. This is very much a place that calls itself gluten-free to appeal to fad dieters. Stay away at all costs if you have an allergy or celiac disease. I don’t have a problem with places not having the resources to accommodate gluten-free people (it’s hard to do so!), but be honest about it. For many people, it’s a matter of life or death to claim boldly that something is gluten-free without actual knowledge.
+: Good dining ambiance, lovely waitress Things for improvement: 1. We waited 30 mins for the oysters to arrive. When the oysters were here, there was no sauce 🥄 for the vinegar. 2. We had to eat our dishes around the oyster holder while waiting. 3. The price doesn’t live up to the portion. 4. They gave the oysters to people who arrived after us which was a big turn off.
