The restaurant is located across PCH from the beach. We made a reservation for 8:30am. Got there around 8:20, and there's already a line in front of us. It took a while to get the dishes we ordered. I think that's probably because the kitchen received too many orders at the same time. Anyway, food tastes great, and the service is prompt. This is a place worth visiting.

You need reservations if you plan on visiting. I made reservations for dinner and was seated exactly on time. I had Spencer as my waiter and he was fantastic. For dinner I ordered the Chilean sea bass, and it was perfection!!!!! The peace of fish was beautiful and perfectly cooked, cut like butter. My mashed potatoes were good but a little bit cold, spinach was decent. For dessert, I got the warm butter cake and it was really good as well. The interior was very different than expected. The place is very small and loud on the inside. I ended up sitting outside and it was extremely loud due to the street traffic plus the restaurant noise. I was able to tune it out but this is not the environment for quiet/intimate conversations. Overall absolutely love the food and would visit here again.

I came here from DC, and this was the only place in Laguna Beach open until 11 PM! We had the chili pasta and crispy chicken. The pasta was incredible, flavorful with just the right amount of spice. I wasn’t a big fan of the crispy chicken served on bread, though. The atmosphere was nice but a bit noisy. Also, we didn’t have a reservation and just stopped by, ended up waiting about 45 minutes, so be prepared for a long wait if you come without booking ahead.

Great birthday dinner! All the food was delicious and the dinner portions were generous. The appetizers were good but probably more for 3-4 people to share. The cioppino was flavorful and came with a grapefruit sized sourdough loft slathered in garlic butter, the prime rib dip was tender and had the perfect amount of Au jus. The sea bass was tender and buttery as well. The French onion soup had their onions puréed into the soup which was a little disappointing but I just prefer having the onions to eat. I also appreciate their nonalcoholic drink selection-the drink with the passion fruit foam is amazing! Would definitely come back!

We went to Nick’s for lunch on our 2 year wedding anniversary - we didn’t tell them it was our anniversary, but I am (very obviously) 9 months pregnant and they brought us the loveliest card and cake to celebrate the baby! The food was fantastic and super reasonably priced, but the service and kind gesture was the icing on the cake.

Great vibe here being down in the heart of Laguna Beach. Meal was fantastic, well prepared and flavorful. Good size portions. Started with asparagus fries that were like a tempura batter, so good. Cioppino was full of fish and shellfish, delightful broth and came with a sourdough bread that was incredibly delicious with garlic and spices baked into the top. Hubby had baby back ribs and they were cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth and fall off the bone. Ended with the banana cream pie which was scrumptious, it had a chocolate ganache layer at the bottom with a graham cracker crust. Casey was our friendly server and was attentive throughout the night. Food came out promptly even though they were a full restaurant. Dined on the outdoor patio, there are more tables and a bar inside. Look forward to returning to try the other food dishes.

I live in Atlanta but every time I’m in the Newport/Laguna area, this is my go to spot. It’s consistent, it’s amazing, and the service is impeccable. I wish we had restaurants like this in Atlanta! Thank you Nick’s for a yummy and high quality experience every time. They also have one of the best wine lists at a restaurant that I’ve ever seen without being crazy expensive.

My wife and I are from Las Vegas. We went to Woods Cove and afterwards wanted to get a bite to eat. Michael was our server, he was very polite, very attentive. I got the crispy chicken sandwich which in my opinion has good flavor just the size for the price didn’t match. My wife got the buttermilk fried chicken which she loved. She also did get an alcoholic beverage. She was told that it would be on the sweeter side which she likes but wasn’t, it was sour. She told someone and they brought her a different drink and again it was sour. My wife does not play about her sweet drinks. They were nice enough to take it off the tab. We didn’t ask but they insisted. Even tho I gave it 5 stars across the board, not sure if I would be back.

This was a gem of a place. The service and staff were great! Watermelon special drink was very refreshing. The Lentil soup was very good. I had the chopsticks cheeseburger was very tasty and my wife had the fish sandwich with warm potato salad. Food was terrific. If you are in the area a must try!

Highly recommend reservations especially on the weekends because it’s a small space and busy! The food is pretty good and a nice variety. I ended up getting the San Francisco Choppino and it came with a good size of sourdough bread. The seafood was well cooked and seasoned. Definitely could feed two and ended up taking some home since it was a good amount. Cocktails are good and overall good vibes here!

I had the Chilean Sea Bass and let me start by saying the fish was cooked to perfection. It was so soft and flaky and not dry in the slightest. The potatoes and spinach were good too, but nothing terribly special. The portion size was on the smaller side too. I don't eat a lot, and even I could have eaten just a little more so I think most will be left wanting more. And the interior was nice but as others have mentioned it is small and gets loud. If this were purely a review of the quality of the food, I would give it 5 stars easily. But for those other factors I subtracted one star. Overall still a great experience!

I brought my niece here for her birthday lunch, thinking they would sing or give her something little for her birthday since that’s what we were celebrating. I even said we were celebrating her sweet 16! I had asked at the front desk and they told me they would do something little for her. And then I also told the waitress, but what she got was a card wishing her a happy birthday. Very disappointing. I would’ve taken her somewhere else that would’ve saying or given her a little something. We got the clam chowder which she really liked. I thought it was good as well and it wasn’t overloaded with potatoes. You could see the calms so that was good. We also got the shrimp Taquitos and tuna tare tare. The shrimp Taquitos were crunchy & good. Good size on the shrimps. The tuna tare tare was good but chip ratio was off but she did bring is a couple more which was nice. It then took a little bit ringer our bill but it was good. But would probably try another restaurant next time.

I had a great time coming to Nick’s with my family for my sister’s birthday. We were seated immediately and our waiter (name started with an A?) was very attentive, polite, and friendly. The food was genuinely amazing. We absolutely loved the buttermilk fried chicken and everything else we tried. My issue was towards the end of our night. The portions are filling and so we were waiting to be asked if we needed boxes. We clearly had lots of food leftover and were excited to eat them the next day. A busser who we had not interacted with before came to our table and took my girlfriend’s plate, which had two pieces of filet mignon as well as a portion of baked potato. The filet is standard ~6oz so this was relatively a lot of meat leftover, and which my girlfriend had explicitly saved. As soon as I saw the busser grab the plate I asked for it to be boxed and to receive boxes for the rest of our meals; four boxes for the five of us at dinner. She nodded and smiled but did not return with the plate and simply dropped off a few boxes at the side of the table. This was a very frustrating experience because from my family and I’s perspective, the busser clearly came with the intention of having the leftover steak for herself. The busser did not remove a single other item from the table during either of the two times that we had ever seen her that night; first when she took the plate and second when she dropped off the boxes. I’m not sure why it was assumed we did not want a box for the steak and how the busser decided to reach *across* the table for that plate specifically out of all of the plates on the table, mine being completely empty and on the edge of the pathway and easiest to grab? After we boxed our food it was the waiter who cleared the rest of dishes promptly afterwards, not the busser. I really liked Nick’s. The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were great, and the ambiance is charming. This interaction unfortunately left a really bad taste in my mouth, lowering my overall rating.
