My wife and I are from Orlando, Florida. While in London for a few days before boarding our cruise ship in Southampton, we are lunch at this lovely English Pub. If and when I am near Buckingham Palace in the future, I would definitely eat the here again.

Fantastic portions with great service! They were welcoming, and efficient when I wanted to book a table. Ordered seabass, the skin was crispy & flesh succulent, it was accompanied by roasted potatoes, salad and capers. The fish & chips had a crisp batter, soft meat with proper British chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas. Wholeheartedly recommend the South Kensington Anglesea Arms! Went well with a pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord.

First time in London and my friend took me to try the Sunday Roast! The only English dish I knew was Fish and Chips and this new plate was definitely a surprise, considering that UK cousine is quite limited. The meat was very good, the sider was a Yorkshire Puddin- which is a salty bread along with some vegetables. Staff was friendly, the pub had posh vibes, which I felt in Gossip Girl London version and prices were fair (considering how insanely expensive London is). Definitely recommend!

Very nice experience! We had our first Roast ever and we really enjoyed it! Very nice portions, we also had the scottish eggs VERY tasty and the shawarma mushrooms very very beautifully served. The dessert was out of this world, the pudding. Please don’t skip it, we almost did but so glad we ordered it because it was scrumptious. Our server was amazing!

It was my dad’s 70th birthday dinner, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and we were seated right by the fireplace, a thoughtful touch that my dad especially loved, as it reminded him of home. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and truly outstanding, which made the evening even more special. I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit, even if just for a pint!

We dined here with our tour group. The food was excellent. I tried a beef Wellington for the first time and did not like the breading wrap, but it was crisp and well prepared and the meat and mushrooms were excellent. The waitresses were always attentive. It was a bit stuffy inside, but we were near a door that we were told we could open partially to let some cool air in. Very good experience overall. I would recommend to anyone.

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. GO ANYTIME!! For Dinner, make a reservation! Zan, our server, did a wonderful job of taking great care of us. With her youthful exuberance, professional manner and local knowledge we thoroughly enjoyed our AngleSea Arms dinner experience. The pub/restaurant was bustling with life each time we passed it, we just had to stop in, before we went home. We were not disappointed. Felt like a local pub for all in the neighborhood. Very welcoming to us out of town-ers. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! GO! Make a reservation if for dinner.

Oh I do like to be beside the angleSEA side! Oh I do like to be beside the angleSEEEEAAAAA! Oh I do like to stroll along the Prom, Prom, Prom! Where the brass bands play, "Tiddely-om-pom-pom!" It’s a really great pub this one! I wonder were angleSEA is because I want to go if it’s anything like this!

We went there for a Sunday roast and the food was genuinely delicious, big postions as well. Very cute and quiet spot!

Came here for lunch on the guidance of Rick Steves and had a wonderful time. Went on a Saturday near lunch time and had not issue getting a table near the bar. Service was great and the food was delicious. Would definitely come back if back in the area! Although tipping is not very well known in the UK, this restaurant does include a service charge in your bill. Just an FYI…

Great food, lovely waitress who was very accommodating. Fair prices considering its location too.

Our waitress Zayna was excellent and gave us perfect recommendations! Great atmosphere. Fish and chips were delicious and had the best carrots I have ever had

Have to say I came here for a Sunday Roast and it was delightful. It's a nice hidden gem, what's even better is the restaurant is at the back and away from the main bar, which is always a nice addition / surprise too. Also would recommend walking down from Kensingston Gardens. The Sunday roast is also an absolute must, roast beef all the way + also plenty of other options too. Nice staff and really enjoyed the first time here. Solid A***** LDT x

Serve a decent pint of bitter, and as an added bonus, the pub is dog friendly. Really good atmosphere

🚇 South Kensington 🍺 £7.10 Asahi ❤️ A superb South Ken local. . The Anglesea Arms is nestled on a corner in a quaint street in South Kensington. It’s about an eight minute walk from South Ken Tube to get here, luckily It's far enough away from the tube and museums that few tourists ever find it. . This attractive Grade II listed pub blends seamlessly in to its surroundings and has stood here since 1827, I love the two Victorian gas lamps guarding the entrance to the pub. . The decor here is stunning and everything you want a traditional pub to be. This pub has two defined areas, the main bar is at the front, if you head down a few stairs to the left of the bar is the sumptuous candle lit dining room. There are some really beautiful features here including Georgian wall panels, etched glass, Victorian pendants and for good measure throw in a large painting of a naked lady with her thrupenny bits out. . The beer line up was excellent and included four cask ales and a host of premium lagers. I had a pint of Asahi which is favourite of mine, my pint was great and cost just over seven sovs which was to be expected. I arranged to meet my Daughter here for a roast dinner and a bit of a catch up. We had three courses each and we both agreed the food was outstanding. A roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings costs £19. A big shout out to the staff here, the service was first class. . The atmosphere was convivial, there was a nice local feel to the place, it was almost like a village pub rather than a South Ken haunt. The crowd here was full of well-to-do locals both in large groups and couples, plus the odd eccentric solo patron. . My Daughter and I spent a good couple of hours here and enjoyed every minute. The ambiance, the booze, the food and the service were all top notch, I couldn’t fault any part of my experience. The price point was a little over average and was worth it, we all deserve a blowout now and then. . @theangleseaarms was a superb visit, loved it 🍻. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 26.03.23

Walked in and the server looked at us, came up to us and we had a table within five minutes. The server was excellent, he explained everything. Then the food was great. If we come to London again. I will be here also the Old Fashion was just like a Wisconsin Old Fashion.

A great offering from Greene King. The Angles Arms on Onslow Street is a great pub offering a fine range of beers, both from cask and keg. Super service from the crew and a lovely pint of beer. There is a most delightful dining area down the steps towards the back of the pub. The pub appears to have been here since c.1825. A great place for a beer.

Service was friendly, if a little slow, but the vibe on a lazy Sunday with locals showing up for a roast is hard to beat. Great roasts, scotch eggs and avocado fries (!) in a cozy and relaxed environment. The vegan rosy was a highlight!

Lovely food and atmosphere! A must visit for a great Sunday Roast if you’re around the area - our attendant Lucas was the best! Very warm and helpful!

Landlord and a porter on. £6.25 TT Landlord. Busy for food Sunday evening. Nice pint of Landlord and usual price for this area. Looks like they do good bottles of wine, judging by the other tables.

Such a charming pub! I always feel so comfortable here — the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff make you feel genuinely welcome. It’s become one of my favorite little spots in London.

Amazing food, had the Korean fried chickan rib eye steak. Miso cabbage is a must get. Top notch service, Zayna was absolutely incredible and had us laughing the whole night. Would highly recommend this place

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Anglesea Arms! The food was amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted like it was made with real care and attention. The staff were just as impressive — friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile. They made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in.

Went here with my friends and honestly loved it. The food was super good and everything had so much taste. The staff were really chill and friendly, and the vibe was just perfect! It’s the kind of spot you just want to stay at for hours, which is exactly what we did haha😅

The taste was absolutely incredible! The Beef Wellington had a rich, savory taste , tender beef, buttery pastry, and earthy mushroom flavors in every bite. Total flavor bomb. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was warm, sweet, and full of that spiced, caramel taste that felt like Christmas. Pure comfort. Staff were super friendly and helped us find the best tastes, even letting us try wine before choosing. The wine had a smooth, fruity taste that paired perfectly. Every dish was bursting with taste. Can’t wait to come back!

Really enjoyed the roast dinner - lovely beef, cauliflower cheese and tasty gravy (rare in London!). The atmosphere in the dining room is very intimate and cosy and the service was fantastic - very prompt, friendly and attentive.

I really enjoyed my visit to The Anglesea Arms. The atmosphere was cozy and traditional, with friendly staff and great service. The Sunday roast and fish and chips were delicious, and the pub has a nice local feel. I’d definitely come back again!

A fantastic find in South Kensington! The atmosphere is super nice and incredibly cozy. They serve a premium Guinness—perfectly poured and fresh. If you’re looking for a relaxed spot for a great beer, this is it. Highly recommend!

Randomly came across this pub one Sunday when me and my Dad were in the area and in need of a good roast. The waiter was really accommodating, funny and helpful. We were offered a couple of scotch eggs which were out of this world! We were told that the most popular dish on the menu was the beef wellington so we both agreed to order it. Hands down, the BEST Beef Welly I have ever had, even better than the one at the Savoy. The garnish and gravy were next level. The pub has an "old but gold" vibe to it, with wooden décor and old artworks on the walls. The pub section felt a little cramped but it was a busy Sunday and this was during the summer when we visited. The dining hall section of the pub seemed very spacious with even more "old English" style décor that felt very warming and charming. A great selection of wines and whiskey as well as some decent Beer options. My only disappointment during our visit was that we were both too full to order any dessert! Very happy we came across this lovely pub, we will be back!

Came with a work colleague without knowing too much about the place, and we were pleasantly surprised. We didn't have a reservation on a rainy Friday night but we were able to get a table straight away, and the pub was chokka. Food was amazing... beer (Landlord) was good (not the best pint ever but wasn't a problem) but what made the experience top notch was the service, especially from Zayna. Very witty, great banter... made it a really nice night. Deffo recommended.

The pub is great. The Scotch egg was amazing, but the roast was all right, not excellent. On the other side, the bloody Mary was bloody awesome.

Recommended by a London local and while we could see there could be a good vibe, it wasn’t happening on the day we went. The food is nothing fantastic, but I am sure the Sunday roast is worth a try. The staff were super friendly but a little distracted with issues to do with the heating being broken.

Came here for Sunday roast with two of my friends. The server was very friendly and attentive, so a big thank you to them. The food was absolutely awful. I got the roast beef which was sinewy and way too chewy. The entire plate was shockingly bland - dousing it in (equally bland) gravy did not save it. I have never had such tasteless potatoes or overly eggy Yorkshire pudding. The only good thing was the carrots and (what I believe was) parsnip. My friend seemed to enjoy her veggie alternative (mushroom strudel). Edit: 30/11/2025 Returned for Sunday roast with a friend - many of my friends were shocked by my previous negative opinion of the food. This time, I had the lamb. The meat, vegetables, and gravy were really flavourful and delicious! The meat was a bit fatty, but the flavours and textures were otherwise well-balanced, so I wasn't terribly bothered by this. I also tried some of my friend's mushroom strudel, and found that really flavourful too! Atmosphere is really cosy and can get a bit lively which lends itself well to the holiday season. As mentioned previously, the service is great - very friendly, charming and attentive.

Apathetic service further undercut by forgettable food, unless you order the veg roast, in which case the sear of over salted, over cooked fare will leave its mark on your pallet for a while. Stick to this place for summer drinks and atmosphere, forget about it for a passable culinary experience.

M
Mary M

I used to really enjoy the Sunday roast here, which made today’s experience disappointing. The food appeared to be precooked, as we received our roast within three minutes of ordering. The quality of the beef was strange, no taste and it was overcooked and quite chewy, while the chicken was too salty for my taste. I hope the kitchen can review the preparation, as this used to be a place I looked forward to visiting.

We booked a table here for dinner and we got seated right by the bar. Although a buzzy atmosphere is usually a good thing, it was totally chaotic around the bar area and honestly not an ideal place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Once we got seated, we were told we might not be able to order food, which given we had come here for dinner wasn’t ideal. The waitress said we could order so long as we did very quickly. The food is great and the drinks were lovely too. We all ordered chicken schnitzel which is delicious and hard to go wrong with. I would also like to say our waitress was absolutely lovely (I can’t remember her name but she was super helpful). However, the whole experience felt like having dinner in a rowdy bar, and I just don’t think the prices justify the experience we had. For this reason, I probably wouldn’t come back.

Nice pub in a lovely part of London, however the service was quite bad. Our food arrived an hour after we ordered. The fish and chips were good but the burger was overcooked and quite bland.

Came for a Sunday roast on 11/1 and was really disappointed ☹️ I had been before in December and had an amazing experience, really great food and fantastic service from Zenya! Sadly, came with my friends yesterday so that they could try it out and we were pretty let down. There was no veggie roast left by 4PM and NO alternative?! So there was a whole unnecessary drama around that with what they could provide us with instead. At one point the waiter suggested we just order a bunch of sides even though 2 of those veggie options were also sold out 👀?! The young guy serving us was pretty unhelpful and borderline rude at times. When some food did arrive, items were missing. No apologies for no roasts or the fact they kept forgetting items that were suppose to be on the plates… Oh and still tried to charge the service charge 🙃 Lovely cosy little dining space with a fireplace, but generally just a poor experience - totally different from the first time I visited and I definitely wouldn’t rush back this time.

This used to be a gem of a pub, but it ain't now. I popped in for a pint on a sunny afternoon a couple of weeks ago. The pub was very quiet - just a few customers inside, more on the front terrace. The person who served me looked like he'd rather have been anywhere else. I asked to taste a bitter that I didn't know, and he obliged. I didn't like it, as it tasted a bit off, so I opted for a pint of Landlord, a beer I know very well. It was £6.85 which is expensive for a hand-pull ale even in Chelsea. And it was pretty awful - it tasted of detergent. I sat outside where all the empty tables had lots of used glasses and spills - I tidied up a bit so I could sit at one. All in all, a dispiriting experience. Staff seemed jaded and disinterested. Shame as it's a beautiful building with a long history.

Such a weird place. Bar staff really struggled with the process of taking an order, making the order and then charging for it, it’s like she kept getting confused after each step. We then sat at our booked table and the waiter came to hand us the menus, no acknowledgment like a hello, or eye contact, just handed us the menus, so bizarre. 3 or 4 minutes after we’d been handed the menus another waiter came over to take our order (my dad hadn’t even got back from the bar yet and we were still waiting for the 4th member of the party to arrive as we were quite early). We explained that we hadn’t looked yet. The original waiter then came back and asked for a physical card to set up a tab for our food. I get it, they obviously get a lot of walk outs, but they’re obviously seriously over staffed if we were getting rushed so much, so I’m sure the waiter could have managed to oversee the TWO TABLES he was looking after. I’m also 8 months pregnant so doing a legger wasn’t high on my agenda, however after we’d got the extortionate bill with the service charge applied, I really wish we had done a runner. What a rip off, the steaks are priced WITHOUT CHIPS OR SAUCE, those luxuries are an add on and my fish was teeny tiny. Overall, just not good.

I had such a disappointing experience at the Anglesea Arms. We waited an unreasonably long time just to be served, despite repeatedly trying to get the attention of the staff. Shockingly, when we finally managed to speak to someone — who turned out to be the manager — he was completely dismissive and didn’t seem to care at all about how poorly we’d been treated. To top it all off, the Guinness was honestly terrible. Won’t be rushing back.

J
John J Quintero D

Looks like a nice pub on a corner at Chelsea borough and we decided to give it a chance based on the above but the first red flag came when we couldn’t sit on a bigger table (for 4) and we were offered a small table for 2 for the bigger table was later used by a couple…🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ Then came the worst; the Sunday roast Beef or Lamb MUST BE avoided at all cost; both were very disappointing; both were extremely chewy, lacked of good juice and had little flavour… Only good to highlight from the menu was the dessert I’ll keep it a place for Drinks only…

Food shocking. Worst roast I ever had in my life. Had a group of us go and everyone had a different dinner - all really bad. Potatoes were undercooked and bland as hell. Chicken portion was bad and again , dull. Beef was tough and full of grizzle. If I could score lower I would but I can’t - so guessing the one star can be for the purple carrot which my wife loved. Atmosphere 5 stars cause I was with the family. Apart from that , no need to return here for food. Ever. Expensive plates that will leave you bitterly disappointed. If I was the owner of this place , I’d sack the chef and give his childhood cook a call and ask her for a crash course in school dinners - would be a much more appealing option than eating from this “chef” again! Alternatively , there’s some pretty decent cook books online - maybe the chef should do some light reading in his spare time away from the kitchen .. which seems often based on the stuff he dished us up !

An extremely disappointing experience. We arrived for a Sunday afternoon roast booking and were ignored for more than 15 minutes whilst we waited to be seated, despite speaking to several staff who took no steps to help us. One guest was coeliac and was treated very rudely when she tried to order and confirm her allergies. The staff would not even speak to the chef to check what food could be prepared and she was told there was nothing that she could eat (despite confirming prior to our booking that there would be options) so we left to eat elsewhere. Generally found all staff that we interacted with to be unhelpful and dismissive.

J
Julia Soetemans

My recent Sunday lunch at The Anglsea Arms was an extremely disappointing experience due to fundamental failures in both food quality and dining comfort. The meal was a disaster from the kitchen. Both the lamb roast and the risotto were served luke warm at best, suggesting they were rushed and merely microwaved. Beyond the temperature issues, the portion sizes were abysmal for the price. The lamb was minuscule—roughly the size of a KitKat bar—and the risotto was barely a starter portion. The overall value was extremely poor, leaving us hungry and frustrated. Compounding the issues, our seating was totally inadequate for a relaxed meal. We were placed directly in front of the bar, leading to us being constantly bumped and jostled by hoards of people waiting for drinks. Given the combination of severely subpar food, shocking portion sizes, and a disruptive environment, I absolutely cannot recommend The Anglsea Arms.

My friend booked a table for dinner on a Friday night for 10 people. When we got to the restaurant, half of us were not let in as we were under 21. Apparently the location has a 21+ policy that WAS NOT stated on the website. When making a reservation, there is no disclaimer of this policy. We talked to staff and the manager which cancelled our reservation, leaving us 10 without a booking on a busy Friday. The response of the manager to the missing disclaimer was “That’s strange, it usually says it when you book”. I am appalled by the disorganisation of this place. I told the manager I would write a bad review of the place and he complained that it was not fair. It is entirely fair that I write this review as the mistake was made by the restaurant. The staff and manager were also not friendly, snickering at our complaints. This whole experience was disappointing and I will not be returning or recommending this place.

G
Gym Power

The service was atrocious! We were served cold food, we asked for this to be heated up which they did but in the meantime all the sides we got to go with our food arrived and also went cold. They also tried to charge us for extra gravy we didn’t have. When we asked the manager for the bill, she was extremely rude - we politely explained what had happened, asked for the gravy to be removed from the bill and also due to the very poor experience asked for the service charge to be removed. She did not once apologise or say one word for that matter, she just took the bill away and put the amended one down. No apology or any kind of customer service. I’d suggest the staff/ management here need to do a course on people skills! Really bad. Won’t be going in here again.
