Finally got around to writing this review! Went here with my mum in April, after visiting Frameless Immersive Art Experience. Turns out, one of the servers had lived in Sweden, not far from where we live! Aside from the personable and sweet server, the food was fantastic - perfectly cooked and seasoned rise, meat and bread. Flavors, texture and composition of the dishes were 10/10 for the both of us! (Atmosphere 4/5 is only because we sat outside, and the street was occasionally rather loud.)
By far one of the best authentic lamb and chicken Shawamas you can eat in the UK! Also try their tabouleh, muttabal, labanese sausage and felafel! Wash it all down with some freshly made Ayran. Authentic labanese cusine. Super friendly service. Casual and relaxed atmosphere. Just pop in, no reservations, however with the food being so good, be prepared for a small wait to be seated!
Great food with a decent atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and there’s a restroom available inside. Overall, a solid spot! Delicious and flavorful Lebanese food served quickly and generously. The grilled meats were tender, and the hummus was spot on. Casual atmosphere, great for a quick and satisfying bite.
Maroush Group of Restaurants & Maroush Express on Edgware Road, London has been our favourite for over four decades, and it never disappoints. The lamb kibbeh is always perfectly seasoned, the kofta kebabs are tender and flavourful, and we can’t get enough of their fresh fattoush and creamy hammous Beiruti. Consistently delicious, authentic, and welcoming – a true gem we keep coming back to© Ash-Cash (on Google) And Ash & Karen (on TripAdvisor)
Maroush Express is simply brilliant. One of the best Lebanese restaurants in London. Incredible houmous with shawarma, shish taok is one of the best I've ever had. Excellent freshly made garlic and chilli sauce. Price is fair, great service too.
Great food and quick service. Not especially atmospheric but good food makes up for it. I'd go back to try other menu options. Very authentic flavours and menu choices.
The food and services never disappoints me. It is a nice cosy space nothing too fancy decor wise but food is amazing. Jawaneh and mixed grill are my favourite
We have tried dozens of Lebanese places across London and this place does the best Shish Taouk and Shawarma wraps. We have been going here for years and regularly. My only criticism is the Service is quick when taking order but often a little slow in getting the order to you, not because of the chefs but because their system needs a little improving - wait staff seems to get confused which order is for who and sometimes it lies there for ages before they finally figure out to get it to you. Still have to give it 5 stars because the food is so good! EDIT: since my review a few months back I haven’t had the same issue’s waiting for my order and have been many times in that period. So they have listened and improved their systems. Though perhaps the wraps have Been a little inconsistent at times in terms of the amount of garlic sauce and taste etc
Great food, good service. Quality and quantity both were good and their hummus 😍🤤😋 is a must try
Popped in for dinner with my sister Saturday just gone, service and food was as normal fantastic, I wish they’d expand up north to Birmingham I’d use them daily, if you’ve not been it’s a must food so flavoursome and fresh, staff always helpful and friendly.
The 5 star rating is because of the food, one of the nicest Lebanese restaurants I have ever been to. the service was ok
Delicious food. The hearty, warming lentil soup was just what we needed on a chilly winter night. We ordered two wraps, but unfortunately they forgot about one order so I was left waiting for a while. Not to mention, they also forgot to bring out our drinks. It is a very busy place understandably but the servers could be more attentive to ensure full customer satisfaction. The food is delicious nonetheless.
Very good Lebanese restaurant with a tasty menu of items. It can get busy and there is a queuing area outside the restaurant. The grill items we ordered were good. The service was quick and efficient. The only negative about our visit was we had ordered grilled Halloumi and waited for it even as the main was brought along. Finally we were told it had "finished". The same happened with the Kunafeh dessert option. Wish the staff knew what was available before taking the order.
I have been to this restaurant multiple times and hands down it is one of the best Lebanese restaurants on Edgware Road. Food is always fresh and amazing especially their chicken Shawarma. The only reason I’m giving them a 4 star is because of the Kunafa, have tried much better ones and they need to improve this as it was not worth the price.
Great food here. My favourite was the lentil soup, which was warm, flavourful and just what I needed on a cold winters day. The service could have been slightly better- we had to remind them to bring out one of the wraps and it also wasn't very clear who the wait staff were as they were dressed in regular clothing.
The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The food tasted great too. However, even though the menu shows gluten-free options, there is gluten in the side salad that is not on the menu. The dish of the day also has gluten in it, but the staff was not aware. They were very happy to change the dish for me, which was great.
I ordered food to pick up at 6pm, at 2pm. Unfortunately I did not know the food would be ready there and then, so when visiting the restaurant at 5:45pm, I was told that I can just order to pickup when I want the food and not so far in advance otherwise I’d get old food. The manager then went ahead to remake the dish for me, fresh, which I appreciated. The dish I ordered was part of the £13.99 lunch deal - a kafta meshwi wrap with fries and a diet coke. Unfortunately, I now wish I ordered a proper shawarma wrap as the kafta meshwi wrap was rather small when compared to portions of similar price with other lebanese restaurants. The sauce and flavour overall was very nice, nothing too mind blowing but not something I’d call terrible either - subpar probably. It was one very small grilled skewer worth of lamb accompanied with sauce and the usual pickled vegetables. The fries were a smaller portion than other restaurants but well-fried. They also gave me 3 ketchup sachets for free, which I liked as one of their speciality sauces could cost up to £2.25 and so the free condiment was appreciated. For the price and lunch deal, not too bad. I’d like to return to try their lamb shank which I am anticipating to be better. Thank you for your kind service and food.
Love this restaurant, especially their meat Shawerma. I invited a friend to try and was very happy with the food. Ordered the vegetarian vine leaves, Mtabal, Shawerma, chips, and minced meat in the bread. I would have rated it 5 stars if the meat in the bread wasn't over cooked and the bread wasn't so dry. All in all was good and would recommend it to anyone.
Great service and some very delicious food. I had the chicken shwarma with the spicy sauce on the side.
Nice restaurant, decent food with quick and efficient service. Probably just about worth the price I paid for it, which was quite a reasonable figure considering it’s central London. Would definitely recommend if you want some nice Middle Eastern food in a hurry.
Nice place. Good food but very pricey for the portion size if you’re buying a plate. The wraps are very tasty and reasonably priced. Clean restaurant and usually a good service. Nice atmosphere. Air con and clean(ish) toilets. Came here today with the hubby - ordered the Mixed Grill plate £16 (unfortunately doesn’t come with rice or any sides. Our rice was sold as separate £4) And a Mixed Shwarma Wrap (£6) with a portion of fries. Wrap was good for the price but the plate was a definite waste of money! DO NOT ORDER PLATES!!! Now - there is only one portion size for the chips, but when the next table got their bowl it was overflowing whereas ours was just a few chips - so I asked the lady at the service and she said it was because a fresh batch had been made... she could tell I was upset so she gave me an extra bowl for free. At the end we got complimentary baklava - a lebanese sweet dish served at the end of service as standard. Overall decent experience though very pricey - next time would only order wraps.
The food here is not great but more than average I got a mixed grill, which was very dry for the meat and the chicken. I got a Fatouch, which was good indeed Lemonade was also good 👍 The service team is good 👍
Best Lebanese food in the world - shish taouk, halloumi and mango juice are to die for. But....the service is painfully slow (not the food service but the general waiter service). They desperately need 3 extra staff at any point in the day because it's just not on. But I keep coming back for the food and it's halal of course!
Enjoyed dinner at Maroush. Fast service, nice atmosphere overall especially sitting outside. The Lebanese salad, shish taouk and fries were quite tasty. Worth trying.
Good shawarma. Didn't find much of a crowd. Chicken shawarma felt a bit dry. Might be old food due to lack of customers. But quality is good. No spoiled food for sure. Couldn't find a better one nearer.
I recently visited Maroush Express on Edgware Road with my family for a casual dining experience. While there were some positives, I found the experience somewhat underwhelming overall. On the bright side, the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and efficient, which made us feel welcome and well-cared-for throughout our meal. Additionally, the food was served promptly, which is always appreciated, especially when dining with family. However, I found the pricing to be on the higher side for what was offered. Our bill came to £97.60 for three people, which is more in line with what I’d expect to pay at a fine-dining restaurant, complete with a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, this didn’t feel justified given the overall quality and presentation of the food. Speaking of the food, it was just okay. I typically enjoy Lebanese cuisine and have had some wonderful dishes elsewhere, but the flavors here didn’t quite meet my expectations. While nothing was outright bad, the dishes were fairly average and lacked the richness and authenticity I’ve come to associate with good Lebanese food. In conclusion, while the service was excellent and the ambiance was fine for a casual meal, the combination of high prices and mediocre food left me feeling that the experience didn’t offer the best value for money.
I went with my family for dinner. Their were four of us. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table around 2015 pm. Ordered our food whilst waiting for a table and got the order served pretty quickly. My sister ordered orange juice which was very sour and we returned it in the end. Other than that food was tasty. The servers were not attentive at all. Kept on calling them but it took good 8 minutes before anyone came over to our table. I didn’t refuse the service charge which was 12.5%. Maybe I should have considering service wasn’t great.
On entrance,, the first impression was of a place with cramped spaces. Décor was just ordinary and it looked that all effort had been made to accommodate as many people as possible. We ordered a few Labanese dishes in BBQ and curry. The standard of cooking was reasonably good but we had been eating better Labanese food elsewhere. The service was good. Overall, its wasn't bad but we thought that the restaurant is a bit over rated in the reviews.
Hommous shawarma, suczuk and chicken shis taouk were very good. Kibbide and breads were total flop. They added two items extra in the bill that we didn’t order!
The food was okay but not as expected yet the service was good. It is a busy place with tables stuck together. The famous Maroush main branch is permanently closed yet the management can improve the quality of food especially during Summer time.
I have known about this place for a long time and I decided recently to give it a try. I was offered a table to choose from and the menu arrived pretty quickly. I was a bit surprised to receive the type of bread you can see in the pictures instead of the traditional one but that was also ok. The thing is we got chicken on the wooden stick, the problem is that while eating the meat, parts of that wood ended in the chicken and i almost swallowed some bits which was not that great. We ordered at the beginning also some dessert which never arrived, we asked for the bill because we had to leave and the waitress totally forgot even about the bill. I had to go and find someone to pay…….and when she realised we were waiting for a long time she finally came and I asked her, what about the dessert we ordered and she had no clue about it even though we got charged for it. She said this: yes, but the dessert comes at the end. I asked her, what at the end, after we pay and leave? 0* for the service. 3* for the food, nothing impressive compared to other restaurants that are around. If I would go back? No! And by the way, we got the dessert we ordered and paid for at the very very end when we stood up to leave.
Hi Lebanese here. The food is aweful here. The lamb shawerma was dry and chewy. Chicken was dry too, bread wrap was not fresh. Spicey potatoe was boiled, has no coriander and strange old pieces of vegitables thrown that felt like eating table scrapings. Not good + expensive. I would say the only good thing is the service.
It’s not what is used to be but still decent. The food portions were good. Service was good. Food tasted decent but I remember it to be a lot better. All in all it was good, no negatives
I just had spicy sauce and garlic sauce spilled all over my pants, jacket, shoes and even my face!! The server slipped and it all came crashing on me mid meal. I made sure she was ok and didn't say a word to show a bad reaction. The manager saw all this. At the end he gave us the bill with a 10% discount. He didnt come say a word just that it was an accident so he cant do anything. I offered to pay the entire bill without a discount as i found that quite insulting to offer 10% off. I mean I will need to get my jacket dry cleaned. While I feel horrible for the server is it wrong to expect not being charged for the experience. Maybe its just this restaurant or they have a poor manager!!
Used to go Maroush in Edgeware road multiple times since 2008. The best one used to be in London is the one in Knightsbridge -Beauchamp branch. As Lebanese, the served food in this Branch is not Lebanese at all. Horrible in all the ways, and we mean it. Hope this review change the management direction and mentality. All the bad reviews on the Maroush chain are just right, correct and not an exaggeration. WE FELT OFFENDED TO HAVE SUCH FOODS, PERIOD Our comments:01- the Tabbouleh salad is not Tabbouleh at all, it's rather a soup of smashed fat parsley than the famous delicious Lebanese salad. [NOT FRESHLY MADE] Missing: the Cumin powder, mini cucumber, spring onion/onion, tomato, garlic, bulgur, the oil used is not olive oil. Copy from the Maroush menu on their website:A refreshing salad made with finely chopped fresh parsley, tomato, dried mint, onion, bulgur, fresh lemon and extra virgin olive oil dressing Allergens: Gluten (Wheat) 435 kcal. 02- The Garlic sauce has too much lemon juice, not firm, more liquid than solid and firm texture, mini pieces of minced garlic still visible in the sauce. Garlic sauce and Spicy sauce are served in the same bowl, shall never be done in that way. Always in separate bowl. Not a good saving idea. 03- The Lahem meshewi-Lamb cube skews are overcooked, dry, not taste at all as typical Lebanese marinated lamb. The size of the lamb skew is small. 04- Freshly mango juice is not fresh, it's rather from supermarket bottle or just not fresh as ordered. 05- Mandatory service charge of 12.5 % is not acceptable. The charge shall be written clearly on the menu, especially with such bad service and horrible food. Copy from Maroush website: Discretionary Service Charge of 12.5% will be added to your bill 06–We ordered lamb cube skews, mixed grilled meat, Tabbouleh and drinks. 07–We had stomach upset when back home, bad night! 08- The served food and service at this branch are not anywhere near the catering services provided by Maroush at the events in London. Hope the management read this review and change the course of such cataclysmic, unpleasant and surprise experience from a well known famous Lebanese restaurant!!!!
I went their because of the good reviews, but I am disappointed. The meat was burned a lot, see the pictures. The chicken was totally dry. The lamb pieces were very hard and the lamb cutlers were very fat. I mean very fat. The only good thing were the potatoes, but what can go wrong with potatoes right? If it was not for the potatoes it wasn’t even worth the one star. I really don’t understand the good reviews. I rather had a good meal instead of writing this bad review, but unfortunately this was my experience. The pictures speak for themselves. Update: I have read the reviews. What I see is lots of 5/4stars or just 1 star. There is no middle like 2 or 3 stars. I am really asking myself if they have bought the 5/4 star reviews because the food was really not much of it.
Ate here with a mate both ordered mixed grill inc lamb cubes, lamb kofta, chicken cubes. Both of us today have stomach cramps and liquid number 2’s with waves of sickness feeling! This place has to be inspected by food standards and let me not get started on the bathrooms, light not working in 1 cubicle, exposed drain trip hazard and stinks! Maroush used to be really good man what the hell has happened!
Honestly one of the worst food experiences I’ve had. They actually served me a potato with the skin still on – and to make it worse, it was stone cold. When I pointed it out, instead of apologising or fixing it, the staff looked at me like I was the problem for not wanting to eat cold, unseasoned potato skin. The attitude was just as bad as the food. If this is what they call a meal, I’d rather cook at home. Won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Mandy the restaurant manger was the most rudest person I have ever meet. Absolutely shocking behaviour towards me. Waited 50mins for a shawarma which didn’t arrive instead I received fries. Working in the hospitality industry myself it was devastating. He then went ahead to blame me instead of taking ownership of his mistake. Then tried to charge me for the shawarma which I didn’t even have. So it was clear the mistake was from him! I do not recommend this place to anyone.
