Avis sur Potholder Cafe too Long Beach
Potholder Too is the bomb. One word: Super Spuds! OK maybe that's two words but when you add a cup of their rich coffee and a hobo omelet, you're good for the day. It was a treat sitting at the counter watching plate after loaded plate of delicious come out and the staff is just terrific. Can't recommend this place enough whether you are a local or visiting from out of town. For the locals there's also The Potholder a Long Beach favorite for decades.
Waited a little over an hour on a Sunday Morning for a party of 8. Most parties of two where sitting in at about 20 to 30 minute wait. Luckily they are now Dining both inside and outside! This was our first time here and I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. The spontaneous art, random framed photos, and colorful 90s diner plates threw me off but our food & service was devine. While their menu may be overwhelming at first glance, serving a vast variety of breakfast options from omelets to chilaquiles, you'll be sure to find something for everyone here. We went with the Denver omlettes & potatoes which seemed to be their specialty here and let me just say those were quite frankly the best omlettws we've had in a long time 👏 While the dishes & indoor space itself may not be very photogenic or "instagramable" like other breakfast cafes, this classic dinner is surly at the top of our "Must Try" breakfast spots in Long Beach! Definitely worth the wait 👍👍
Absolutely amazing Place! My partner and I are visiting from Canada and needed good gluten-free pancakes, these guys delivered. Pay particular attention to the "Undecided" section of the menu for a great variety and good portions as well. Also very pleased with the service here.
Great food options at this cute diner-like breakfast spot. We tried the Strawberry cream cheese flaky french toast, as well as the chicken and waffles. The french toast was cooked to perfection, the only thing I would note is that they put A LOT of pink colouring in the filling (looks a bit too artificial to my taste). The chicken and waffles was very tasty, with pieces of bacon cooked inside the waffle. Overall very satisfied with our experience, definitely come in with a good appetite as portions as hefty!
We were looking for breakfast, and trying to avoid chain restaurants and tourist traps and found this place recommended on Google maps. We knew we got it right when we saw the fire truck parked outside and the firemen eating inside. Great breakfast options (including vegan and vegetarian), affordable and with fun names to boot. I ordered the Baja Omelette, which was amazing. Staff was great, kid friendly, AND they give you some extra coffee to go as youre walking out. 5 stsrs, will stop by again!
I absolutely loved this place great wait staff, great atmosphere, and amazing food. I got the Turbo breakfast burrito with chorizo, avacado, jalapenos, jack cheese, and red onions. Best breakfast in Long Beach, not just my opinion. Try it and tell me I'm wrong, I dare you. Only negative is....jk it's all good!
This place had been on my list and it didn't disappoint. Food was good and the staff were great (friendlyand knowledgeable). We ate outside and it was busy....but the service was good. Went specifically to attempt the Mac Daddy Frankie Challenge....and failed miserably - lol! (I think it was just an off day for me). So I will be back to attempt it again....and will slay the 18" beast of a pancake and it's bacon and egg friends.
Great food and service especially since there was 9 of us. Everything was great and everyone enjoyed our breakfast
If you are hitting one of them conference on Long Beach skip the continental breakfast and walk to Potholder Cafe, you’ll thank us later... The Potholder Cafe is the undisputed "King" of Long Beach when it comes to breakfast, which we proudly serve all day. Weekday mornings and early afternoons find plenty of starving artists and blue-collar diners wolfing down stacks of pancakes and bacon, and you’ll see the occasional yuppie munching down a Chinese Chicken Salad from the healthy side of the menu. Weekends are packed with hungry friends and families enjoying the atmosphere and history of this Belmont Heights landmark. Bring in a photo of yourself holding an “Eat At The Potholder” sign from anywhere in the world and join our wall of fame and score a free breakfast!
Really impressive service from our waitress who wore glasses and is of a shorter stature. I regret im horrible with names but you were absolutely great. We really enjoyed how much pride you had in the work that you do. Thank you for being a positive force.
This is definitely an old-school Diner vibe. Our waitress was so friendly, and our food was all delicious, big portions! I would totally return!
Came here on a busy Saturday AM and the staff was so friendly and helped a rather rude large group with a smile. Despite the group being fairly rude and disruptive they all got all-star service. I sat down and my server was also very friendly, fast and helpful. She recommended the chicken enchiladas which were AMAZING!
Love these kind of places that have that old school coffee shop feels! First timer here, and let me tell you everything on the menu looks great! I try to eat mostly vegan these days and they had a good amount of vegan and vegetarian options! I was soo torn between the Benedict, the burrito and 2 other items, ended up with the vegan burritos! It was everything and more than what i was anticipating. Also, im a tea kinda girl, so i felt like a princess when they brought different types of tea bags to choose from! Little things definitely matter to me! AND for the non-vegans!!! The menu looked epic! If it was just the vegan items i wouldve had the hatdest time choosing what to eat. Servers there were really helpful, kind and always on it with refills of water and hot water.
Great food and service and really good energy. Our server Tiffany was super friendly and very funny and helpful.
The Potholder Cafe, my official review. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, although the booth had minimal legroom. There are cute surfboards on the wall to remind you you're close to the beach even though there are skyscrapers surrounding you. The food! Very good. Eat it. The breakfast burritos (plural) are delicious and I added chorizo for added deliciousness. The enchiladas were moist, inviting, saucy, and corn tortilla'y. Very good overall. I would definitely come back.
GREAT PLACE!!! We went here for the first time while living only 15 minutes away from home. I was very surprised how cozy and homey this place is. Not only the food was great but also very nice people working there. I was quite impressed when I saw some workers knew customers’ first name. Also very touched when they sincerely and wholeheartedly cared for seniors! It’s very hard to find places and people like this place :)
This place is awesome! Everybody is nice , excellent customer service and delicious food. We were able to have our small dog in the patio, which is a plus for us. Keep in mind they close at 2 pm. Their prices are reasonable, and the wait time is usually no more than 25 minutes, even on a busy day. I recommend their stuff french toast.
Great service, a menu that has something for everyone. The salad was perfect and the dressing seemed homemade it was so good. Great prices It was beautiful sitting in the morning Sun on the patio and enjoying the outdoors. Their server #Erika gave me a great recommendation and provided me top notch service I felt very taken care of! Great energy and very welcoming
Stuffed french toast covered with fruity pebbles !!!! OMG !!! I found a new must have. This place is awesome. The menu has a big selection with various combos I've never heard and want to try them all. The staff was super nice and kept checking in on our large group. Our cups stayed filled with water, juice and the bottomless mimosas. Delish !! I'll make a point to stop by here every chance I get to make my way through the menu. Prices are decent not to high nor low. The food quality is wonderful. Nothing we had was cooked wrong or tasteless. Excellent work !!
My wife and I were in long beach while on vacation and luckily we came across The Potholder Cafe Downtown during our travels. To this day my wife goes out of her way to talk about the fruity pebbles French toast she ordered. My meal was great as well, and the mimosas were the icing on the cake. I’d highly recommend you check this place out, I hope to make it back in the future!
The Potholder Café Downtown is an awesome spot for breakfast and brunch! The portions are huge, the food is delicious, and the vibe is super laid-back. I tried the waffles and the breakfast burrito — both were amazing! The staff are friendly and quick, and the atmosphere has that fun, classic diner feel. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in town!
GREAT FOR THOSE GLUTEN FREE! Prices are better than IHOP! HUGE menus. The lady was very sweet to those who are on a budget, hungry, have allergies and make sure your meal is what you want! She’s patient and kind with all customers making sure they get the best experience to their comfort. Finally found a place that I truly like!
I was invited to join in for a breakfast lunch, the restaurant was very quiet, clean, and organized. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is pretty good in selection, I got myself the grand prix, a very good dish, and the flavor was great! I would recommend this restaurant for a quick breakfast.
Great Breakfast Spot with a Fun Vibe The Potholder Cafe Downtown has that classic California surf diner vibe, and it definitely delivered a great breakfast experience. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food, and the service was friendly and attentive. I tried the Maritime Loco Moco just to mix things up—and it was so good! Definitely something I’d order again. I highly recommend this spot for breakfast if you’re in the area. The only downside was the Bloody Mary, which lacked flavor and didn’t quite match the quality of the food. Still, overall a great place to start your day!
We had a fantastic breakfast at The Potholder Too in Long Beach! We ordered the Popeye and the Grand Prix omelettes, and both were absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making the whole experience even better. It’s easy to see why this place is a local favorite. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a great breakfast spot!
Easy 5/5 stars! Stumbled on this gem and had the perfect breakfast at a very reasonable price on a local spot with a fun vibe. Perfect cook on everything. Crispy but fluffy pancakes, amazing homemade country sausage patties, and cooked to order eggs. Ask for Diana’s section - she was fabulous. Wish I could have snapped a food pic but it was gone too fast. :-)
Great place. Starting off with the warm, welcoming service. It's very cozy inside, but there's outside seating as well. Our waiters were attentive and quick. The best part of it all is my plate. Our waiter suggested her favorite dish, "Tim's dug out", I'm glad I listened because it was delicious!! Well presented and very hefty plate as well. I'm coming back for more next time I'm in town!
I love this place. It has good old fashion breakfast but a lot of different options infused with Mexican breakfast. Everything tasted great. Great location with enough parking. Service was good and quick. There are lots we still need to try and come back. My daughter loved the country fried steak and said it's way better than IHOP.
Awesome experience! Walked up and was greeted & seated right away into a dining room with great ambiance. The tables are lovely with the whole room having a California beach theme worth seeing. The service was superb and the food delicious! Lots to pick from on the menu and our party of people were uniformly happy. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food served. While waiting after ordering met the owner who is a genuinely nice person which was also a nice experience to add to our visit! Overall.. a perfect experience we will do again in the future!! Hint: the thick fries with a side of ranch was sinfully yummy!

We were quickly seated outside per our request. We got the Thursday special and a cinnamon rolls. We shared everything. It was good breakfast food. The service was fantastic. prices were good.
Very sweet staff, yummy food, and great prices! I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area! It looks like they have a couple other locations, as well.

Making my way through the Potholder Cafes in SoCal. Been to P4 and P3. This one is Potholder Too and right across from City Hall. I think this is the "actual" Potholder referred to in Tyler Dilts detective novels. Came around brunch time on Sunday. Virtually no wait and beautiful patio setting. I knew how big the portions were so got the gluten-free waffle. They messed up both my order (did not come with the berries listed on the menu) and my friend's (she got mayo when she requested to hold it). The server was very apologetic about the mixups, however, corrected them, and was otherwise a very attentive server. Parking was about $5.00 in the structure across the street although there's meter street parking too. Its very close to the Pike and Shoreline Village/Aquarium (about two big blocks away) so you can make a morning of it.
We arrived with a large group of 15 friends without prior notice to the restaurant. They were able to seat us all together on their outdoor patio. They were also able to get our food orders to us in a timely fashion. The food and service is always good here. We’ll be back!
They seemed to be a bit shorthanded on a Saturday morning but they still did a good job trying to get to us in a timely manner. I had soyrizo chilaquiles which were tasty, if not exactly authentic. My companion had a BLT with fruit and raved about it and the freshness of it. Would recommend when in DTLB.
Nice and quaint vibes, great service, and food came out fairly quickly! Only issue we had was our plates were all mixed up and my eggs were not cooked how I asked. I'm very particular about my eggs 😩 French toast was okay, would skip and try the pancakes even tho French toast is my fav!
Decent sized menu but you can also build your own for some things like omelets. There is a parking lot. We sat outside on the patio which was a nice way to enjoy breakfast and you can hear everyone at the table.
Service 5/5. Atmosphere 5/5. You can eat with your dog on the patio! Food... 3/5. I was unimpressed and I felt like the food lacked flavor. Maybe I just showed up on a bad day, but idk. I got the chicken and waffles and wished I ordered anything but that. And that's usually my go to brunch meal. Tried my boyfriends fruity pebbles french toast... It was meh. For the price that everything was, I expected more taste.
Very good food, friendly atmosphere, fast service.... Went in the early afternoon, avoiding a lot of the Morning and brunch rush. Was seated right when arriving, and everything was clean. Portions are nice and plenty, French toast is stuffed, with strawberry cream cheese filling. And they have a nice variant of syrup, boysenberry.
We decided to stop here after getting into Long Beach on a Friday morning, to start our weekend trip. I liked the corner location as it was easy to find. I also appreciated that this place had its own parking lot and I didn’t have to rely on street parking. Upon walking from the parking lot to the entrance in the front entrance which is on the Main Street I noticed they have plenty of outdoor seating. When we (me and my girlfriend) walked inside we were instantly greeted and shown to a large booth. I ordered the D-Fib and some coffee. The coffee refills were regular but there was a stretch where the server didn’t make rounds to our table for maybe 10 to 15 minutes. We had been waiting for some extra napkins that she had mentioned she would bring. Although we never received those napkins, overall service was good and friendly. The food! It was well seasoned, cooked well, and was brought out fairly quickly after ordering. I wouldn’t object to eating here again if invited.
Great food and atmosphere in a super convenient location. Big parking lots across the street and behind the restaurant. Eggs Benny is always delicious and the jumbo mimosas are made with fresh juice. I’ve never needed to make reservations and the wait has always been under half an hour. The decor is cute and the neighborhood is safe and walkable. Great for couples with indoor and outdoor seating.

I ordered the flaky French toast but was taken back a bit as the flavor wasn’t THAT great. I did get a chance to taste the pancakes and regular French toast; the pancakes were awesome and the french toast was a bit heavy on the butter. Overall a great location(sat outside), with great mimosas.
When arriving make sure your entire party is there ready to be seat or you have to wait. You run the chance of loosing your spot and wait until the next available table is open. The menu is pretty well laid out. Omelets, pancakes, waffles and breakfast combinations. Portions are well for the price. The stuffed French toast needs syrup to compliment the overall flavor of the toast. Overall it was ok. Food came out cold and we had to resend a few items back due to eggs and pancakes being a bit cold.

First time going here. Let me preface this by saying I have no problem paying for quality... But this place just doesn't deliver. Paid extra to "upgrade" to asada for my breakfast because I try not to eat pork. They just took the meat off the meal and charged me separately for it... Fine, I can understand that, I guess. But then this amount is what I get? Weak. Also, you forgot the toast for my order. Overpriced for what you get. Do yourself a favor, save your money and go somewhere else.
Took my grandmother here for her 86th birthday breakfast and didn't have a good experience at all. We asked the hostess if we could sit on the patio. She said sit anywhere we like so we did. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to come out and take our order I finally had to go in and flag down a server. I ended up ordering the Mexican scrambler which was $14. For that price point I was expecting something kind of special. Instead what can out was a pile of ingredients just thrown poorly together. The quality was terrible too, it had steak but the steak was like trying to chew pieces of a rubber tire or something. Service was off also with staff getting confused about which tables were which and our drinks left unfilled. Sadly this place is not for me do to price vs. quality and service. I would sit and have a cup of coffee here in the patio with my dogs but that would be it.
The parking is nice and the orange juice was really good. However the food was not that great, especially for the price. The crunchy French toast with strawberry cream cheese was not my taste personally. The super pink cream cheese looked like peptobismol and the cereal that was on the toast got stuck in my teeth too much so I only ate one toast to fill my stomach and stopped eating. The employees are very nice, but we waited a long time for our food. We just ate to fill our stomachs to get rid of the hunger and left.

Awful experience. Inattentive service Not great food Overpriced Ordered 2 burritos to go. Made it clear that I needed the burritos to go because we would be taking them on the Catalina express boat. The server was distracted and we had to repeat the order a few times. Then 20 minutes later, the plated cut burritos arrived. Again I stated that I needed them to go... They slide the wet soaked burritos into a tray and called it a day. 50$ for 2 gross breakfast burritos. Made a huge mistake coming here. The server came back to the table and said "hey hit the wrong button and forgot to make it to go" then zoomed away. No apologies, no additional help. Just slammed the check down. Honestly, horrible. I will never come back and I don't think you should come either Beware.
This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Despite the diner not being busy and having 3-4 servers, we were kept waiting. The hostess avoided making eye contact with us. If you are a biracial or gay couple, I strongly advise against visiting this establishment. As someone from South Louisiana, I can confidently say that this restaurant in Long Beach provided the worst service I've ever encountered. I will never return to Long Beach after this experience with such rude and closed-minded individuals. I'm glad I didn't spend my money here.
1st time visit to this cafe & it definitely needs the help of Gordon Ramsay or one of the other food network stars! It wasn’t packed but we waited for our table then the service was horrible we started with one server then two other girls took over the food was horrible in taste, look at the dish below the hash browns were dryer than the Palm Springs dessert. The owners of this place need to regain their passion bc this place has so much potential! But, with the horrible staff & cooks who made us chicken & waffles with absolutely no flavor! The only thing that was wonderful was the coffee & when I asked for a refill she never showed up so we are definitely NOT coming back…I can help with revamping your place & bringing it back to life you have too many employees doing NOTHING. I want my money back…
Came here for breakfast the other day, and must say the few times I've been here, it's always been good. Nice portions. Good service. This past visit not so much. Food was great, been better before. But I ordered an iced tea, and the server returned to let me know they forgot to brew it. So I got a club soda instead. But never got a refill. Sat at the counter. It was slow. But the servers were too busy chatting or doing roll ups.
