Finding a pizza place that gets the fundamentals right is one thing; discovering one that consistently exceeds expectations across every element of the menu is something truly special. Brooklyn Ave Pizza Co. doesn't just serve great pizza—it delivers a complete dining experience where even the simplest items are executed with remarkable care and creativity. From the first bite to the last sip, every detail feels intentional and masterfully crafted. The Pizza: A Masterclass in Crust and Creativity We embarked on a culinary tour de force, sampling four distinct pizzas that showcased the kitchen's impressive range. Each pie was built upon that perfect New York-style foundation: a thin, impeccably charred crust that was crisp yet pliable, with an airy, chewy cornicione that’s the hallmark of great fermentation. · The Classic Cheese: The benchmark. This is where you taste the soul of the pizzeria. The bright, tangy tomato sauce and the generous, stretchy mozzarella are in perfect harmony. It’s a timeless and flawless execution. · The Pepperoni: A quintessential favorite, elevated. The pepperoni cups into tiny, crispy bowls holding pools of spicy, rendered fat, ensuring every bite is packed with savory, salty flavor. · The Pink Vodka Pizza: An absolute triumph of balance. The rich, creamy vodka sauce—with its subtle tomato tang and sharp Parmesan punch—manages to be both decadent and incredibly moreish. It’s a sophisticated pie that never feels heavy. · The Mole Pizza : The standout star and a brave culinary fusion that pays off spectacularly. The deep, complex mole, with its nuanced notes of chocolate and chili, provides a stunning base. Topped with sharp, pickled purple onions, this creation is a symphony of sweet, savory, and delicious flavors. The Sides: Far From an Afterthought If the pizza is the headline, the sides are the blockbuster supporting act. They are so good they could easily be the main attraction. · Cilantro, Chorizo, and Cheese Fries:. This wasn't just a side dish; it was a revelation. The golden, perfectly crispy fries were smothered in fresh cilantro, melted cheese, and, most importantly, incredibly flavorful, spiced chorizo. The combination was nothing short of addictive, a gourmet take on loaded fries that we are still dreaming about. · Buffalo Wings: These wings would be a star at any dedicated wing joint. They arrived with skin shatteringly crisp, guarding juicy, tender meat within. Tossed in a perfectly balanced buffalo sauce that delivered both fiery heat and a tangy butter finish, they were utterly irresistible. The Finishing Touches: A Testament to Craft The commitment to quality extends beyond the food. The fact that their flavored waters are shaken "à la minute" is a detail that speaks volumes. This isn't a pre-batched, sugary concoction. It's a fresh, vibrant, and nuanced beverage that cleanses the palate and elevates the entire meal. This level of dedication to something as humble as water is the mark of a team that is truly passionate about the guest experience. Brooklyn Ave Pizza Co. is more than a pizzeria; it's a culinary destination. They have achieved the perfect trifecta: mastering timeless classics, demonstrating bold creativity, and executing even their sides and drinks with unparalleled excellence.

I bought two single slices, and both were delicious. I added onion and bacon to one of the pepperoni slices, and the flavor did not disappoint. The buffalo wings were also good.

Stopped in after a show upstairs at the Paramount, I'm always on the hunt for good pizza so I had to try it. It was delicious, I love a thick mozzarella, pepperonis were good and crust was soft yet crispy. I'll be returning!

Ordered veggie pizza, their guava and Jamaica drink, fries are bomb, and their wings. I really enjoyed the veggie pizza and their fires the best, and the drink was pretty and refreshing. Loved the atmosphere inside. Takes you out of the element of East LA when you step inside. I would come back. I enjoyed the Buffalo wings, too. I'd definitely go back for the pizza, fries, and drink.

Came to try out the mole pizza and it was soooo good. Im not a.fan of onions but this paired good with the purple onions. I would have hoped the mole sauce would cover more of the surface and less crust. The mole is the star not the crust. The second pizza we got was the shrimp one and it was also good but the mole one was the best. The hot cheetos Buffalo wings was super good I didn't expect that but definitely will order again. Alcoholic beverages are a definite. Will be back soon.

Great spot for New York style pizza. They have classic pizza combos and some creative ones. We liked that they have agua frescas here. The guava-jamaica was our favorite. We started with the caprese salad and chorizo gravy papas (thick fries). We didn’t know that the salad would be served with flatbread but it was delicious! The papas were seasoned with a cajun seasoning and paired nicely with the toppings. The portions of these were great! We got a classic margherita pizza and their July special that comes with pastrami, honey mustard, pickled onions and cheese. Both were delicious, but we liked the July special one more as it was different than what we normally get at pizza spots. Ended off the meal with creme brûlée and we were super stuffed at the end of the meal. We took home half of each pizza so we had lunch for the next day. Parking in the area is a bit difficult but worth it for the food here. Can’t wait to come back to try some of their other monthly specials.

Visited here before a show at The Paramount. We sat at the bar, the bartender was amazing and helpful. Drinks were amazing and food was even better. Pricing was also great. Will definitely be coming back here again. They even let you take your drinks upstairs.

Love the space! Clean and chic. Food is tasty, the pineapple- cucumber 🥒 drink is the best. Can be made boozy as well. We had the La Bianca pizza and added spicy chorizo. With a side house salad. Definitely plenty of food! They have tvs on the walls, great for sports viewing or a quick bite with a friends. Also have a venue for music events etc. Would come back to try all the pizzas!

Staff was very welcoming and the food was tasty to say the least. The La Bianca pizza was surprisingly very good! We omitted the ricotta cheese as I’m not a fan. Hollenbeck cooler was refreshing! I wish it was a but more boozy but for the price it was a great drink. The wings were good, not soggy or dry and no one talks about the ranch enough! The ranch is fresh, not oily like the pre packaged stuff, you can even taste the dill! So gooood. We brought a meat lovers pizza home and reheated it in the oven. The dough get hard like other pizzas, so it’s worth taking your leftovers home (if there is any!). *open parking is a rarity, which is a bummer for such a great place. If it weren’t for that, we’d be here more often.

Brooklyn Ave Pizza Co. delivers a delightful culinary experience, particularly with their unique mole pizza that features sweet and spicy mole. The mole sauce adds an unconventional yet irresistible twist to the pizza, blending sweetness with a kick of spice that tantalizes the taste buds. Complementing the mole is the savory Oaxaca cheese, which brings a rich, creamy texture, enhancing the overall flavor profile of the pizza. The dough is another high point – nice, chewy, and perfectly charred. This combination of texture and taste ensures that each bite is as satisfying as the last, balancing the rich toppings with a robust base. The char on the dough adds a subtle smokiness, further elevating the pizza's complexity. Overall, Brooklyn Ave Pizza Co. scores an impressive 8/10 for their innovative approach to pizza, skillful preparation, and quality ingredients. Their ability to fuse traditional elements with unexpected flavors makes for a memorable pizza experience. 👍🏾

An excellent pizza place en "La Brooklyn", my old neighborhood. The dough is extra tasty and chewy good. The wood fired wings where meaty, tender and smothered in a honey and fresh diced garlic and olive spread. The chorizo steak fries are a world of chorizo flavor goodness, the fries crispy but soft. I'm still wondering how did they get that chorizo so full bodied.

Such a great Industrial Brooklyn (NY) vibe. Love the play on words since Cesar Chavez used to be Brooklyn Street. Pizza is good. I love that oven baked pizza with the crust. Yummy! I wish there were a few more options for kids.

Kudos to Chef Mario Christernas for opening a new pizzeria in Boyle Heights during the pandemic. I have been hearing about this new place from a lot of friends. We finally took the time to pay a visit to this new restaurant. I thought I was going to have Brooklyn style pizzas but the name of the restaurant meant the old street name of Brooklyn Ave before it became Chavez Ave. But the pizzas are as just good as the ones in New York. The menu features dishes like mole pizzas and French fries in Chicano poutine and Chorizo, quest fresco, and cilantro. Although the food is Italian, the flavors are truly grounded to its Latino roots here in Boyle Heights. You can also get the more traditional pizzas such as Margherita and a shrimp with vodka sauce. I liked the crust with the great chewiness sourdough taste. I am glad that the restaurant opened for indoor dining. The decoration is awesome. With floor to ceiling windows, the indoor dining is very bright and full of energy. With its 100 year history as a former bakery shop, I am sure Brooklyn Ave. pizza Co. will live up to the former glory of this bakery shop. So far l love their pizzas. Free parkings are available at the corner of Cesar Chavez and Mathew Street.

I’ve been to the restaurant a few times and have always been happy with the food. However, I can’t say the same about the service. The customer service could use some improvement—no one answered the phone when I called to check whether it was open, the service was fairly slow even though it didn’t appear very busy, and the servers were not particularly pleasant.

This is a swanky place in East LA with firewood-pizza. The pizza was delicious and the mole wings were better than expected(kudos for the ingenuity). While I ordered take-out, I found the atmosphere to be extremely welcoming and, dare I say it- hip. I also lived for the POCs working the location! The elote old fashioned, however, was meh and the price for the 11 inch pizza felt exhorbant. Despite these pitfalls, I'd definitely be back. Oooh, and the mint cucumber water was deeelicous! Update 4/7/2022: I continue to love this place, especially their mole wings. The pizza, wings and papa's were all standout. Parking is tough, but managable. After my meal, I was fully intent on giving this location a 5 star review, however since they didn't visibly(nor offer) list their restaurant week materials, I refrained. I found their lack of transparency jarring and deceitful.

It happened to be National Pizza day so their pies were half off so we got two! A pepperoni and jalapeno and a carnitas and they both hit the spot. Thin crust and gooey cheese made for a yummy pizza on a cold cloudy afternoon. They have six or seven tables out with chairs so they do have outdoor dining. Another plus!

I wish you didn’t change your calzone recipe, I just got one and was disappointed it wasn’t like the last time I got it. Sure it’s a bigger portion but why add pizza sauce to it. Whyyyyy you ruined it for me, I wasn’t even offered the option not remove pizza sauce. Make the calzones like you used to please

I really wanted to enjoy my visit to Brooklyn Pizza, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. When I walked in, I wasn't sure whether to wait to be seated or just grab a table. I asked, and was told it's open seating—but after that, we were left waiting quite a while before anyone brought us menus or acknowledged us at all. No one checked in during the meal to see if we needed anything, which felt like a missed opportunity to make the experience more welcoming. The food may have been good, but the lack of attention made it hard to fully enjoy. I hope they improve their service, because with just a bit more care toward their guests, this could be a much better spot.

This place is so cute inside, very cool vibes. However the service sucks, point blank. We got to the front where the host asked us if it was for two, we said sure but we’re looking at the menu. He promptly left and never came back. There were 8 servers/cooks/bartenders that completely ignored us. Two were flirting with the cook and the host was behind the bar on his phone. It was super weird. We finally sit down, get our order. Server looked extremely bored. Brought us water and then kind of left us alone. It took a very long time to get the bill. I walked out early to get the car and my husband was still left inside. He probably could have walked out too and no one would have noticed. And it was pretty empty, not packed at all. Pizza was ok, definitely not the NY slices we were expecting, but more like slices of a personal pizza. Won’t be back, but I can see why people would like this place. Please train your people!!

Response to owner: there is no way to DM on this. The date is on the receipt. Horrible dining experience. We went on our lunch break- group of 8. Had reservations at 12. We were the only people there. A smaller group left after waiting too long to be acknowledged. The waiter had absolutely 0 customer service skills. He took a while to take our order. We got there at 12. Based on the receipt he took our order at 12:26. He didnt bring us water until 12:34pm, which he left on the side of the table for us to serve ourselves- nothing said. No ice, even though we asked for ice water. The whole time we were there he was busy stocking shelves. We ordered pizza, wings, salad which all sat on the counter for about 15 minutes min. He brought everything at once (at 12:48) and just laid it out, not asking whose was what. Left us there wondering what went to whom. The food was not hot which in my opinion took away from the taste. He totally missed a drink order and never brought any water refills. He never once checked in on us. Never cleared the table despite sitting there well after we were finished eating. We had to get up to get our own boxes and to ask foe the check. He brought over the pay machine and didnt bother giving us a receipt until we asked for it. The icing on the cake, he had already charged 18% for tip. Completely undeserved. Worst experience of my life. I will not be returning.

Horrible customer service. I ordered two pizzas both special after waiting for a while for my order to be taken. When they bring the food to the table they only brought one pizza. I ordered two pizzas. Then she has excuses like it because it was special. The pizza that was brought to the table was special too. They don’t know what they are doing. If a table orders two pizza prepare both pizzas together, cook both pizzas together and then finally bring both pizzas together. They simply forgot to make my other pizza. Go elsewhere for your pizza. This place is not worth the headache
