Avis sur Power House Los Angeles
If you’re wandering down Hollywood Boulevard in search of a proper pint of Guinness, Powerhouse is the hidden gem you didn’t know you needed. Tucked away on the street, this small pub has an effortlessly cool vibe—raw, unpretentious, and full of character. We walked in looking for a beer and found ourselves staying for the atmosphere: gritty punk and garage music, live artists keeping the energy high, and a bartender, Kwame, who made us feel completely at home. He not only poured with care but also shared his own quirky touch—letting us enjoy his personal VHS movie collection that played in the background, adding to the pub’s unique character. It’s not flashy, but that’s the charm. Powerhouse is one of those rare spots where you feel like a local the moment you step inside. A little hidden, a little rough around the edges, but absolutely worth discovering. Don’t miss it.
I stayed in a hotel 2 blocks, wanted to spend an evening with live music and drinks. Got recommended by locals so visited Power House Bar. This particular night, we had live music from 9pm, the performer was Nealy. She was great, such an awesome voice. I had a few Modelo beers from tap, was refreshing. The prices were decent enough, just a tad higher than normal to cover the music, I guess. The decor of the place was very nice, just loved the ambiance and atmosphere. Left around 11pm, when it started to fill up. Overall a good exp and will def visit again if I am in LA and in need for a drink with music.
I live in Hawaii so LA is a city I often visit often on my way to here and there. Over the years I have found my favorite places to stop in. The Power House Bar is one of those must stop by if close by places. It’s a treasure of a dive bar in the heart of the Hollywood chaos. Divy and chill, VHS on the tv in the corner, Elvira in the back, David Bowie above the door headed out. Not to mention the humans behind the bar. My favorite is Joe. He even remembered me from my visit two years ago! I would go back just for him even if I didn’t love the bar so much. His service is stellar and he makes you want to stay longer than you planned to. We may have stayed 4 hours instead of 1 the last visit because he was there! Go see Joe!
I was walking in circles looking for cold one, and just when I was about to give up (after a terrible experience at a bar just a block over), I was pleasantly surprised and fortunate in finding this gem. The fella at the door (Joe) was warm and welcoming. Cocktail list looks great, however, I opted for a beer cause that’s the mood I was in. Bartender Kwame was so pleasant, made great beer suggestions and let me sample a few before I made a final decision. Solid selection of scotch/whiskey/bourbon. It’s about 8pm on a Tuesday evening, so not a huge crowd but did meet some frequent flyers who love this spot. With dim lighting, jazz crooning from the speakers and an eclectic mix of regulars; Power House is seductive, inviting and oozing with ambiance. Exactly the chill & relaxing vibe I was looking for. I’m in the process of relocating to LA - although I do not see myself frequenting Hollywood Blvd, I will definitely be back for this place alone (I need to try the cocktails next time), and will recommend to anyone in search of a legitimate bar experience on this strip. Seriously, I’m so impressed that I’m writing this review with a 1/2 full beer at the bar.
Stopped in for a drink before the show at Hollywood Bowl. It was the closest bar we could find to the venue, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great place. Great cocktails and bourbon selection, good music and awesome bartender. A great spot nestled in the midst of a bunch of tourist traps. Highly recommended.
This place slaps. Reasonable prices, great drinks, not touristy. Happy hour daily 4-7 and live music even on a Tuesday.
Iconic dive bar that dates to 1946. Nice little smoking and darts patio out back and often has live music to boot
Three steps from the tourist run, this place was small, dark and loud. Lovely barkeep, great drink specials and free popcorn. The drinks were delicious and the place had a great vibe. Good fun!
Great little bar. Typically locals. Excellent bartender. Reasonable drink prices. Sweet spot to listen to music or play darts out back. Lots of history to this building. Love it
Great bar, cocktails were decent. The place was stacked so I had to wait good ten minutes to order a negroni.
It looks like a dive-bar from the outside, and hints of hipster-dive when you walk in, but the cocktails fall nicely in the great-take-on-a-classic. Added bonus: you may find yourself having a cocktail and conversation with an Avenger or X-man!
Great atmosphere. Friendly bartender and cheap drinks

Randomly went here last night. The staff were accommodating. Good beer and karaoke!
My 5 star review is for the memories if years gone by there, decades ago. I will have stop in to experience the cleaned up (nicely) version of it. In the meantime, anybody remember the guy who tended bar there daily back in the 80s (and who knows for how long before, and after that, too)? He was a "fixture" there. Great times!
This bar is a good time! Lots of pickle related drinks, the pickle collins is bomb, pickle backs as well, etc. Nice bartenders and darts in the back. Always good vibes.
I stopped for a drink before a movie at El Capitan. Very friendly service. A bit dark but it only made it part of the ambiance. There’s a patio for those who smoke or can’t do with the dark. Great chill music and nice vibes.
Cannot recommend this place highly enough for a few drinks. Went in after looking at the last review. Barman and regulars are so nice and sound. Beers are lovely. Atmosphere and decor is awesome and the music was class They have old school video tapes playing with no sound but just adds that bit extra. Don't overthink it, just go there.

Power House is a story of what once was, and what will be. What it is now, is a solid casual spot for a classic cocktail or a beer, though it's a polished shadow of it's former incarnation as a true dive bar with darts in back and swivel seats and booths with their inner cushions proudly showing. The drinks are good enough—better yet, they're good and served stiff, which garners extra points—and the tone is reaching to Hollywood's golden years, when Billy Wilder and Bogie might have shared a spot at the bar planning a noir we've yet to see. I used to like the old Power House a lot. It was a real, no frills, what you see is what you get kind of place. The kind of place that dots corners in most American cities. The new Power House is a little too glossy, a little polished, and trying a little too hard, but it gets most things right, and it's still a reliably quiet spot for cocktail and conversations, which is good enough for me any day. Now if only they'd bring the dart boards back...

Really nice dive bar located not too far from the Hollywood Bowl. Crowded vibe (a good thing) but still a super attentive bartender who acknowledged us even though we had to wait a beat (honestly, that’s all I need!), though slightly limited selection of beers

Stopped by this dive bar last night so glad we did! Music was a vibe drinks were a tad pricey but they were AMAZING so i dont mind. bartenders were great people to talk to and they were very attentive. Will be back!! edit: just realized my husbands card was charged twice that night.
Solid old school dive bar. No surprises, friendly crowd. Sensible prices.
