Avis sur Snake Pit Ale House Los Angeles
Amazing divey feel, great liquor selection, craft and regular beers. Let's talk about staff, Alyssa. Amazing, observant, savvy and attentive. The whole show. I would come back just to hang with her (no offense to Brian). I will be back! (But may call ahead to make sure she's on) lol.
We were looking for a place to go for happy hour and came across Snake Pit. The atmosphere was so relaxing. The bartender was a sweetheart. She apologized for taking a little while to get our drinks, but was working the bar by herself so I give her a lot of credit. The happy hour prices were pretty great. $7.50 for well drinks, $8.50 for the nachos. I highly recommend trying the nachos.
Upon my first trip to LA with my Bourbon conessieur husband, we found this sweet spot on Melrose. They had a very good selection of spirits and the bar keep, I believe his name was Logan, was very mindful and patient with us. We enjoyed the space very much and hope to come back and find long lost friends some day. My parents have the same Olympia beer antique behind their bar at my childhood home. 🧡🏵️🤩
This place was dope. Service was great and food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Nice bar, good music, cheap food that is delicious. Came on a Tuesday afternoon don't know how busy it would get in the evening but it was pretty quite
Love this place! Good food, good music, good ambiance, good prices and on a good street.. vegan options! The vegan black bean curry is great :)
Surprisingly delicious burger, flavorful beer, and a very friendly atmosphere.
Great place. Good beer selection. The California Po boy sandwich is excellent
Great bar, can get a little loud but great selection of whiskey.

Bartender was very nice! Loved the movies that were playing. Definitely coming back! Thanks!
Really neat hole-in-the-wall on Melrose. Great spot for locals looking for a cultured dive bar and affordable drinks. Jukebox is a huge plus. Came here last night during the fires and Trevor took care of us. Great bartender. Had some good conversations and good drinks. Will be back.
Under the radar spot in Melrose, tucked among overpriced, trendy "thrift shops", is the Snake Pit, a welcome, non-pretentious good old classic neighborhood drinking spot. Serving a wide selection of craft beer but also classics like Miller High Life and Hamms, and reasonably priced classic cocktails to even new twists on cocktails, add in decent bar grub, it is a great place to escape the trendy scene and just relax.
On the surface, this bar is essentially a dimly lit dive bar with affordable drinks and music. However, the service is fast, friendly, and welcoming, which is surprising given that this past of LA is known for being smug. The food here exceeds expectations. There are three televisions showings movies rather than sports. However, I did attend the bar during the off-season of basketball and football. The atmosphere and music are near perfect. It's a good mix of mainstream music that is not exceedingly loud.
Pretty cool spot. Plenty of different kind of draft beers and hard alcohol selection. Bartender was very on top of everything. From what I could gather it’s pretty much a mix match of different people everyday that come here. I would come back. Kitchen closes at 10pm so wasn’t able to try any food but the bartender was gracious enough to bring us complimentary chips and salsa that were very good.
Had a fantastic time for a bday party there. Not exactly cheap, but certainly reasonably priced for the area. Nice bartenders, great regulars. I didn't try the food though. But the pizza looked good.
Such a vibe. Playlist was great, movie on the screen great, open late (later than everything else). Good banter from the bartender (the guy with the hair and the cool hat)
I came in for one drink and stayed for a couple hours thanks to Ryan. He was awesome and will definitely be coming back. Great bar, great bartender.

Cool local dive bar with good food but unfortunately has mid service, idk if it’s just me but the staff had an attitude both times I’ve been there. The calamari/ fries combo is my new go to, it’s super yummy!! I damn near stuffed my face, super delish. I also really loved their whiskey shot + beer deal it’s inexpensive and hits the spot every time. The service here was… weird but I’d come back.

Great drinks, good selection of beers, excellent service and a fun & relaxing atmosphere! Definitely a place to go and enjoy good drinks and good atmosphere. Food is ok for appetizers. Next time back going to try the burger which I hear are good. The fries, bbq chicken pizza and soft shell crab were good and would order again. Would pass on the Cesar Salad, chicken wings and calamari. Fun local bar / restaurant worth checking out!

Pictures are definitely very old and outdated. If you’re coming here for whiskey/bourbon I suggest you look elsewhere. Not much you can’t get at any typical liquor store.
