Had lunch here with work colleagues and it was delicious. Burger, Honey Pear salad with Salmon, and Prime Rib sandwich… so good! Definitely get the sweet potato fries!
Went here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, there isn’t much to choose from on their menu, but the food was excellent. Appetizers, entrees, drinks, and atmosphere all were spectacular. Can’t wait to go again
It's open again. Their summer breaks hurt 😆
Super cool place to eat, get drinks or just chill and look at art. Bartenders are super awesome and the kitchen and wait staff are amazing. They facilitated a large group for us and we had a great time. The Tenderloin and the canyon chicken are fantastic.
I really enjoy coming here! The dishes are delicious! Pad Thai, pasta Alfredo, stuffed avocado, Caesar salad. All great! Their cocktails ride in the same boat! I’m never disappointed! I can sit solo at the bar or go in with a group to the restaurant. Any vibe you’re into, you can find it here!
Went for Valentine’s day dinner and it was awesome! Food was delicious, even the chips and queso! Totally recommend
My husband & I dined here February 12th and had their Valentine's menu. For both of us it was only $90 and included several appetizers, soup, salad, entree and dessert! We were very impressed with the new decor and remodeling they had done since we'd been there last. The food, service, and company were all amazing! Cafe J truly is a special place in Lubbock!
Delicious appetizer, custom Lemon drop Martini by Sara! Both delicious, and prompt. NICE & QUIET atmosphere, can actually speak in normal voice. Caesar salad fresh and perfect size. Entrees DELICIOUS! Grilled Salmon w pad Thai no jalapeños, plus Chicken Roulade awesome. Creme Brule YUM!! Can't top!
The door man saw that there weren't any chairs left and actually offered to either give us our money back (there was a cover charge, it was new years eve) or he'd find us a table. And found us a table--he literally carried in a table from the restaurant side. So the service was pretty good, one of the bar tenders was a little slow, but other than that everything was great.
Love this place! Easy to get in and out of! Today we had the tapas appetizer, Greek salad, and turkey sandwich. Our waiter was exceptionally nice. The food was promptly served and everything was delicious!!! Great lunch and dinner venue!!
Second time here. Seated promptly served promptly. Had the chicken and waffles. Super moist chicken and light waffles. Sat on the patio and loved every minute. Servers are perfect. Need to come back more often!! Bravo Cafe J
Best eggs in town! Breakfest is so good here - if you haven't tried it super yummy! The chicken friend steak and the salmon are also delish! The honey pear salad is also a favorite!
This was the coolest brunch Cafe I've ever been too the food was amazing the staff incredible 5 🌟's
One of lubbock's finer dining experiences. A well known location to tech grads and locals alike that doesn't disappoint with their atmospheric patio and bar and great service and food. This is a perfect place to celebrate a recent graduation or special anniversary. Brunch or dinner you will not be disappointed!
Great food. Great wine. Great service. We are from the NYC area and have eaten here several times. It remains amongst our favorites. Anywhere. Really good food, fantastic wine, wonderful service. Looking so forward our next meal there,
Great brunch! Had the open face croissant, which is served with ham, bacon, swiss, an egg and jalepeno jam atop... And would certainly do it again ;) the staff were very friendly too and gave me a taster of their upcoming infused vodka drinks
Great atmosphere. Great wait staff. Elizabeth takes care of well. Reasonable prices. Been here coming here for several years. But I do missed the seafood crepes they had several years ago. They were the best. Fyi to the owners. Lol
Very few quiet restaurants remain in Lubbock where you can actually converse at the table without glaring televisions and everyone around you texting. This is what eating out is supposed to be - great food, reasonable prices, ambiance, well-trained staff, and in a neighborhood atmosphere. Nothing else in Lubbock like it. Thank you.
LOVE THE BRUNCH. The whole vibe here is very elegant and classy. The food is super good and some of the drinks as well as the staff who is very nice. I’ve never had anything from their menu that doesn’t taste good.
When in Lubbock Texas, make time to have meal here. Go to the back side bar, they have the most interesting locals who are very friendly. The food here is fantastic, the special is often great. Drink special are a huge value. Treat yourself to something good.
Amazing atmoshpere and service. Feel bad i dont remember our servers name but she was spectacular. Food was to die for had the curry rubbed flatiron steak. I have worked as a cook in a stealhouse for a little over two years. I have never had a flatiron steak as tender or as juicy as the ones I cook.
The staff was very friendly. The salad choices were great and quite delicious. I recommend getting the pear, walnut salad with salmon. The salmon was prepared very nicely!
Would definitely recommend making a reservation for brunch. Great food and customer service. Our food was brought out to us very quickly and the waitress was always around. Will definitely be back.
The food was a bit on the pricier side but absolutely worth it. I had The Hangover and it was delicious. My friend had the Chicken Fried Steak and only had good things to say. I highly recommend stopping by.
We went on a Saturday - they had a very limited menu, but with that the food was delicious. The place has a few rooms open spaced so keeps the sound down to a minimum. They have an out door patio as well. Perhaps on a warmer day we will have to give that a try. For desert we had chocolate cake. Very tasty. Place was clean and service was amazing
The food was great. My wife and I went for our anniversary. Nice quiet place for a date night. We got the besos caliente for appetizers. The jalapenos had the perfect amount of spice. We shared the canyon chicken and they were kind enough to split it for us. The server was great. Wished us a happy anniversary and gave us a free gelato for dessert. Prices were fine but not something I could afford all the time.
Great first time experience!!! Ryan was our waiter and he was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. I HIGHLY recommend this fine restaurant for a date night or for some really great food! Be prepared to wait a little bit for the food, but trust me it’s completely worth it! I will definitely come back again very soon!
MUST READ IF CONSIDERING THIS PLACE!!!! Okay, these drinks are expensive af, but if you’re looking for a relaxed vibe with a good BANG for your buck, this is the place. You may not taste the alcohol in the martinis, but lemme tell ya what, you’ll feel it more than a Mike Tyson punch. I’m not gonna write anymore, I’m going to let you experience what I’m experiencing at this exact moment. Thank you and God bless America
First time diner. Came for breakfast. Best chicken fried steak in Texas. Service was fantastic. Thank you lauren, we will be back.
Check dates before going. Great vibe for brunch, especially if you enjoy mimosas. Food is unique and delicious! A favorite!!!!
Food is delicious and the atmosphere is good. You can actually hear your party's conversation and enjoy a dinner without obnoxious loud music. I loved it.. They just need to improve their interior design. A new furniture, maintenance of the ceiling and walls; and a new paint would match the quality of the service.
Sunday brunch was great. Got seated after a short wait and chose to sit on the back patio after being given the option. Waitress was busy but very attentive. Friends split a carafe of grapefruit mimosas, they enjoyed, and I went for the lower tier Bloody Mary, also good. I got the Eggs Benedict w/ crab cake and a side of hash browns, the perfect amount of food and delicious. They went together well and both my eggs were perfectly cooked. Nice atmosphere and great service. Parking was easy, lots of room with overflow. You could tell higher-ups we're helping by running food, a good sign of teamwork and dedication to service. Overall an enjoyable experience and I hope to return.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner here last weekend. Every dish we tried (2 apps, 2 entrees, 3 desserts) was excellent. The service was friendly and lightning fast. The ambience was relaxed and intimate. This was the best meal we've had in years. We savored every bite and have been daydreaming about it since then. Can't wait to go back again tonight! Try the beef stroganoff (it was DELICIOUS- put my mama to shame)!
We had an awesome waitress Lauren. Service was outstanding. The chicken fried steak was the best I have had.
Loved this place! Came with my husband and a friend of our and had a great experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Great place for cocktails and dinner. It's not am crowded place at all. We all enjoyed both our food and cocktails. After dinner, we stayed and enjoyed our cocktails in the lounge area, which was very nice and not as small as we assumed. Also enjoyed looking at all of the art displayed throughout the restaurant and lounge. Will definitely go back.
Not at all what I expected - a delicious treat on a rainy night. Wonderful atmosphere, hip, eclectic and "artsy", an international feel, with modern music in the background. Waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They have a full wine list with a wide selection. My waiter recommended a cab that went very well with the house special for the night, beef tips over linguine with veggies. I recommend the the green chile soup.
We celebrated my wife's birthday there. She was born in the same building when it was Saint Mary's hospital. The service was excellent, the food great, and the price reasonable. You can't ask for more. We will definitely be back.
We reserved Café J for my granddaughters high school graduation for 18 people on Saturday night. The staff was very attentive and checked on us often There was a quaint patio for us to visit and have drinks before eating. I had younger grandchildren there who enjoyed the outdoors area. Our server Lauren was kind and very friendly. The food was delicious and the menu offered a nice variety. I highly recommend Café J for large or small groups. A laid back, yet intimate vibe, who welcomes from 8-85( all ages). Thank you Café J for your hard work and the plesurable evening!
Oh my word!!!! This place exceeded my expectations in every aspect. My three sons 😊invited me out to brunch at this really nice spot. Our waiter Cameron was all that and some. He was professional, thorough, efficient and didn’t miss a beat. I ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict and Coffee and it was DELICIOUS 😋. I’m definitely returning to Lubbock and Café J!!! Make sure to add this spot to your itinerary if you’re ever in this area. The food, service, and ambiance...ON POINT!!! Grateful to my boys for this experience
My new favorite place in town. Relaxed atmosphere. Great food. Perfectly mixed drinks. Lots of beautiful art to look at. The staff is so nice and professional. Must try the crab cakes.
Cocktails yummy! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The new art bar is amazing! I truly mean that, y'all! Whoever came up with this idea has done it right. The food is always excellent, too.
We were seated right away during prime Sunday brunch time (probably an anomaly but we appreciated it). Drinks were served quickly. Food took a little long to come out but when it did, it was very good. The breakfast burrito (a special, not always on the menu) was different from a traditional breakfast burrito with almost zesty spices, and it really worked! The chicken Caesar salad had a generous amount of chicken. I would give 4.5 stars because coffee was mediocre but rounding up to 5 because of the flavors and textures of the food.
My wife and I had brunch here on 1/29/2023. The grapefruit mimosas were fantastic, but the Bloody Mary was even better and paired nicely with the chicken fried steak and eggs that I ordered. The portion was hefty, and I was very happy with my meal, the atmosphere, and the service we received. Overall, I think it is a great place to meet up for brunch.
I went to Cafe J with a friend for brunch on Saturday. We both ordered the chicken fried steak (me with biscuits and my friend with waffles). The food came out savory and well portioned! I give Cafe J big props on how they cook there asparagus. The price was affordable for the portion. Overall 4.5/5 stars Would recommend the restaurant
I adore this place!!! A hidden gem of Lubbock, It is definitely worth checking out! They have an assortment of mixed drinks, and their menu is varied but not so vast that it's impossible to make up your mind. Our service was incredible, and we would absolutely love to return! The Stuffed Avocado is a must have 😋
Cutest little restaurant! 1st time here and it was fantasic. We had brunch on a Saturday morning without a reservation so it was great that they were able to seat us and we had the best time. Mimosas were on point and so was the food. Lauren, our server was amazing and we will be returning. I highly recommend coming here if you've never been!
Cafe J is a Lubbock institution. The service and food are top quality. Make sure to reserve a table, especially around big events at Texas Tech University. Located in the old Godbold Cultural Center whose long history adds more meaning to the visit, Cafe J is across 19th Street from the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on campus. Check out the Martini Bar in the west entrance, open later if you arrive once the main doors close.
Service was great. Food was average. I had the pad Thai. The chicken was a little dry and not enough peanut sauce. Nothing bad enough to send back and I are it all but will probably not order that again.
The food was amazing. The only problem I had was that our waiter didn't really come back to the table to ask us if we needed anything. A different gentleman had to come over and ask us if we needed help. I also thought it was a little too warm inside the building for this Texas heat right now. But overall it's a great place.
We had a great visit! We went to the bar section for the open house comedy night and were pleasantly surprised by the comics. They were genuinely funny, and a great way to liven up a Tuesday night! The drinks were very reasonably priced and we ordered an appetizer that was delivered promptly. Would definitely return!
Exquisite menu!! Not the place to go if you’re not looking for an adventurous experience. The back bar serves a great espresso martini!!
Solid restaurant, but they were busy and having a hard time keeping up. Service was slow due to short staffing. Nevertheless we were able to eat, the food was pretty good, warm and flavorful, and service was not a problem. I had the chicken fried steak, along with the stuffed jalapeños appetizer. Give it a try.
First time eating here. W were a group of 4. Atmosphere: Tables were a little to close together for my likening. But very tasteful decor inside. Food: Two of the meals were perfect, Two not. Let's start with the good ones, * I had Stroganoff and it was the best I've ever had. The noodles were a perfect thickness and the a very good amount of meat, the sauce was absolutely delicious. ( Highly Recommend) price was only $18.00 which I felt was a bargain. * Scallops Dinner was very good the my friend said it was delicious. * Pad Thai the taste was good but they left off the peanuts and that was a little disappointing. Serving was very large. * Here is the disappointing meal, The Beef Tenderloin was very very dry, it was cooked Medium rare which was perfect but way to dry. My friend asked for horseradish he waited so long that he ate the steak and it arrived as he took the last bite. His asparagus and potato was delicious. The star of the meal; The Bloody Mary's oh my goodness they were delicious. Strange part of meal was the hard rolls, I mean hard LOL. Overall meal was good, just seems the steak had been refrigerated way too long to dry out.
The green Chile burrito was good however I did not hear positive remarks over the other brunch dishes ordered. Simply put, the food falls short of richness and texture.
New ownership in 2021. They turned the bar from a cool martini bar into a sports bar full of TVs. And the food use to be American cuisine is now American generic. Not the place it was for 20 years. Try West Table or Nicolette if you are looking for what J's use to be
I was disappointed. The house salad and the burger were good, but other dishes were less so. The onion soup was salty but the mashed potatoes needed some salt. The creme brulee was too firm.
Mixed experience. Our first attempt to dine there began inauspiciously when we showed up for lunch only to find the restaurant packed wall-to-wall and shoulder to shoulder. I can’t say for sure this was illegal, but I feel was certainly recklessly irresponsible — even without the low ceilings and inadequate ventilation this was a recipe for outbreak. We returned for an early dinner and found a much lower occupancy level. We started with the spicy green hatch chili soup, which was not at all spicy but tasty nonetheless, and the steamed chicken wontons, which are not described as spicy in the menu but were very much so — this is not inherently bad, but all the other flavors in the wonton were so subtle that they were completely subsumed by the heat. Our fettuccine carbonara was excellent, creamy and flavorful and frankly flawless. The scallops — all three of them – were also excellent, but the accompanying risotto was crunchy and bland. The blandness was improved with a little bit of salt and pepper at the table, but I don’t recall having a crunchy risotto before. Even so, after the salt and pepper, it was palatable and almost good. The long-stem broccoli was quite good. For dessert, we tried the peach cobbler gelato, which certainly had pieces of peach but they were impossible to taste through the dominant cinnamon flavor. Even the thin ribbon of caramel that topped the gelato was more noticeable, and the gelato itself was not very creamy and seemed like it had softened and been refrozen. Our other dessert item was a tiramisu which was reasonably flavorful for an espresso and mascarpone cake, which is what it was – not ladyfingers, cake. Again, flavorful, but not true tiramisu. Service was slow but pleasant, our initial order of two lemonades couldn’t be filled because there was a problem in the back, and the waiter substituted with fruit juices at our request. As for ambience, we only got to see the dimly lit main dining room, which, as previously mentioned, has low ceilings and poor ventilation. The artwork on the walls, which it seems is a feature here (there are artists’ names and price tags attached) was also a bit of a mixed bag, but there were some decent pieces scattered about. By the time we finished dinner, the place was starting to get packed for another COVID fest. We both had the disease a few months ago and are probably still immune or would never have risked going back there again, but I would certainly discourage anybody from eating there if they have not gotten vaccinated or recently recovered.
Loved the vibe and staff. The Art bar attached is a MUST. Definitely my favorite area of the place. However I learned that this establishment was recently taken over by new management. People who told their entire staff they were expendable. So the night I was their was their last night to work. Been many times before and not sure if ill return.
Brunch was fantastic, service was just okay. They kept taking things to the wrong tables. Waitresses were very attentive, unless you have a tan. My glass always seemed to get skipped. Might not be back.
A little expensive for what you get. I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, a salad and tea. The salad was good but the scallops were not worth the price charged. Don't get me wrong, they were okay but not $25 okay.
The food and service were good. I was not happy that they charged a fee for using my credit card. Probably won’t go back for that reason. There are other brunch places in Lubbock who do not have a credit card charge, they are just happy to have my business.
Had a birthday party with family here, today. Was expecting a nice meal and service, fell short. Sat at a table off the side of the main area, waiter that came by we asked for a set up and was asked “why was that needed”. Set the tone for the rest of our two set up table. We ordered a while later. I ordered The chicken and waffles, Wife ordered the “greens and things” omelette. Chicken and waffles was really disappointing, for $18, two tiny strips, waffles were tasteless even with syrup, and just not good overall. Wife’s omelette was ok. For two guests, almost$40 was definitely not what we expected for what was delivered.
Went to the bar side only. Didn't have dinner in restaurant. Bartenders were rude. Need a cocktail waitress, the whole getting up every time you wanted a drink and then standing in some long line. To have a bartender just be rude, Repeat every timr, off putting. Both the bathrooms were broken. Live music, nice, one man band, perfect.
Poor service great food. Drinks took 10-15 minutes every time. I got up to go grab one order from the bar myself (so my wife could have the wine she ordered 15 minutes earlier with the food she hoped to pair it with) and there was lipstick on the glass. Waitress seemed like she was overwhelmed. Duck and tenderloin were delicious.
This place looks little old but still on shape. Talking about the staff. They were nice and polite. Starting with appetizer we had pork potstickers. The potstickers were nice but I felt there should have been more meat. Next thing the pork chop was dry, lack of salt and excess pepper. The rice served with dish was best thing about the dish. Moving on cajun chicken Alfredo was nice but there should have been more Cajun seasoning to enhance the flavor.
This place sucks! Went there for brunch. Prices were high which was fine but the service and food quality did not match the cost. They brought me cold coffee then when I asked for a new one it was 15 minutes before I had to remind the server and she went “ohh yeah whoops” and then brought me a new one. The service was bad! The avocado toast had the thinnest smearing of guacamole on top I was soo disappointed that I paid $9 for it. I did not get one refill of my water glass when I was there. Portions were so small we had to end up ordering 2 more entries (5 total) to feed 3 people so the cost per value was even worse. I thought I was paying for the atmosphere but it was not even a nice atmosphere and was very loud and hard to hear my brunch companions in there. I last ate there about 5ish years ago and was disappointed then but decided to give them another shot. DO NOT RECCOMEND.
No brunch menu on the website that we could see, so when we went in expecting one menu we got something different. Our server was having a tough day, the kitchen threw him under the bus and the timing of things was strange. The food got mixed reviews from the table. Skip the pistachio creme brulee!
Server, Grant, did good at start, then he seemed to forget us a lot. The food took over an hour to get to the table and even after it got there the server couldn’t even keep us attended. I asked for ketchup and I took more than 10 mins to get it and he came to the table 3 times and said he’d be right back with it each time. Idk if it was his fault or not but if it wasn’t his fault the business really screwed him over. Would not pay that much for dinner again if I knew it would take an hour and a half just to receive the COLD food.
My husband and I graduated from TTU a few years ago and we used to always go to Cafe J to celebrate special events. We absolutely loved their food and drinks! However, recently we went to Cafe J for my brother in law's graduation dinner and it was extremely disappointing. They were severely understaffed (on graduation weekend!!). We waited 45 minutes for our appetizers. Our drinks took 30 minutes and they forgot some which took another 15 minutes. We were there for a total of 2 and a half hours. We had to ask about our food and drinks multiple times. When the food finally came out after almost 2 hours it was good BUT the next morning all 6 of our party got food poisoning. The only thing we all ate the same was the chicken fried steak (which is hard to understand cook so it was likely cross contamination or something else). Our grandma was so sick she nearly almost missed the graduation ceremony. Our waitress was great and super apologetic about our wait. It was not her fault at all. Super disappointed this restaurant can't hire the appropriate amount of staff and as a result the experience of their customers is severely impacted. Not to mention it wasn't a cheap meal! We use to be regular customers, but will never recommend to visitors or friends/family again.
Went on a Tuesday night for dinner. Service was very poor as there appeared to only be one server. Did not get a single drink refill the entire dinner. The main course was delivered to the table within 2 minutes of the appetizer. The appetizer was not good, and the dishes left much to be desired. I hope it was just a off night, but the table next to us sent their dishes back to the kitchen.
This is one of the worst places i’ve ever had brunch at! The food was cold the waffles tased like frozen ones reheated from the freezer! I complained about the cold waffles and all they did was nuke them in the microwave so they came back soggy. The mimosas were no better tasted like a strawberry seltzer. Needless to say we will not be back
I gave them a 2 star last year. (See below). Unfortunately I had to go back today for a function. Even worse. I guess if you want alcohol your ok, but if you want coffee, tea or water - nope! Food still takes forever. They definitely cannot do a sunny side up egg (BRUNCH!). No butter or syrup for French toast despite begging, on and on ……. Don’t waste a penny here Review from 2023 March - So disappointing. Used to have good food - NOT anymore. We did take pad Thai (? Cafe J?) home and it was the best of all. They shoe leathered all the meat, scallops that obviously came from a Costco bag and terrible service. The appetizers were very good… only Star they get. Won’t go back.
They need to post somewhere somehow if they do not accept walkins.
The service was fine, but the food was atrocious especially compared to how much you pay for it. The bread was dry and gritty. The salad was drenched in dressing. I got the ribeye and it was fatty and undercooked. My girlfriend got the cocunut shrimp pasta and there was a pool of oil at the bottom. There was also very creepy art around the restaurant.
Would have appreciated advertising on the website as well as on here saying reservations recommended for brunch. We arrived at around 10, from out of town. We know they open at 10:30. So we figured we’d wait it out. A line starts forming after we arrived, so we form ourselves, third in line we are a family of five. Note we did not have a reservation because as stated before we were not aware. There was no mention anywhere. There was also several people saying they didn’t have a reservation. We finally make it inside, to hear we can’t be seated until 11:45. Remember they open at 10:30 there was only 6 separate groups aside from ours. So either the other people who had a reservation were late or non-existent. There was not that many people, as mentioned before there were some who didn’t have reservation. I would like to think they didn’t refuse service because of race or color, as a hispanic family everyone in line was caucasian, our just refusal of service and used the excuse of not being seated till 11:45 knowing no one would wait over an hour. I want to think better of our society, especially in this time. So I’m just going to break it down to communication with the website and 3rd parties they use. Be more clear that it’s recommended to make reservations.
The place is nice. It took 1 hour and half for our food to come. The food is not worth the money. We were a party of 7 and just felt ignored as if they were annoyed with our group size.
I went with a group and the waiter completely forgot my food and it took almost an hour to receive it after asking twice. I got my food when everyone else was finished with their meals. Some of our receipts were messed up and given wrong charges. Food was good but the service was not great.
We got there at 10:15am for Sunday brunch we waited and were third in line to eat. Apparently, they were filled with reservations and couldn’t seat us until 11:45am . (There were 3 people seated in the whole restaurant.) I’ve never seen a restaurant do this, ironically though we were the only POC there and when we left they seated everyone else.
AMAZING FOOD, FABULOUS DRINKS, TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! I love this place so much, but do your business a favor & fire your hostesses, your servers & the bartenders that work in the lounge. This is a place where the staff doesn't greet you & is ANNOYED by your presence. Even when I called to speak to a manager (Makon) about my really disappointing experience, I was still treated as a nuisance.I've recommended this place to countless friends & family despite the disrespectful staff. However, I'm done, because despite the AMAZING food & CHIC atmosphere, it's not worth being treated like a peasant by the hosts & servers. For reference, since no one will reply until a year later.... Sever: Autry May 14, 2015
Normally I love Cafe J. We got there at 1pm for brunch & they close at 2, so we knew we were a little late. But our waitress told us that as long as we closed out our check, we could stay as long as we wanted. But then the hostess came AND TOOK OUR MIMOSAS OUT OF OUR HANDS to get us to leave. She was very rude. Very disappointed in Cafe J today.
Man. We made reservations for Valentine’s Day dinner, it was not busy. Waiter asked if we wanted bread and we said yes. We sat there a while and then he brought it apologizing saying he had forgot about us. My boyfriend ordered the beef tenderloin, then the waiter went into the entire explanation of what the tenderloin special entailed. He agreed to try it and ordered it medium rare. I ordered the beef tenderloin as is, medium rare. Never checked our glasses the entire time we were there. When the food arrived it was my plate of tenderloin and a plate of ravioli. Waiter immediately explained that he had accidentally punched in ravioli instead of the special he had promoted to us in the first place. He then asked my boyfriend if he still wanted them to fire up his meal real quick. Well I am a slow eater and I finished my meal, eating valentines dinner alone. When he finally brought out my boyfriend’s plate he asked for it to go since we had already been there for an hour. He brought out the check and said he had taken half off of his meal alone, but this guy single handedly ruined our night out, my meal included since I felt guilty eating while he had nothing. To top it off, he asked the table behind us if they wanted dessert and started to list them. Dessert was never offered to us. Just really disappointed.
First time going here with my friend and will definitely be the last. As we walked in we noticed a foul smell like old mop water or trash we figured we would sit at the bar away from the smell so we could enjoy the comedy show that we were looking forward to, anyways as my friend got his food I looked up and noticed a cockroach on its back on the bar right by the food. Totally grossed me out and I lost my appetite, the waitress was nice about it and took the food off our ticket but she didn’t bother to wipe down the countertop or anything after noticing the roach, the place overall just seemed dirty and was very disappointed with it being my first time trying it out.
Complete failure of their food safety inspection. 29 health violations!
It took 2 hours for us to get our food. We didn’t order anything large, 2 French toast orders, 2 Mac and cheese orders, and an omelet. The French toast is $14 for only two slices (4 pieces) that are cold, flavorless, and you can get better at the worst reviewed Dennys in town. They also add a charge when you pay with card, despite the fact that the food is overpriced as it is. The service and the food is just absolutely horrible and not worth it. They also had us sitting outdoors in the sun for over two hours, without seeing or hearing from our waitress for almost an hour.
BEWARE OF CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE!!!!! Food was average, but place does have some atmosphere. I expressed my concerns with a bartender while walking out about the surcharge. He reinforced the views of the owners that they will continue to charge this fee and he stated the owners are on the leading trend of moving patrons to cash and no plastic. Cash, much easier to cook their books! I informed him I removed the surcharge from the tip, scratched through the original amount, and subtracted it and changed the new total. He said that wasn’t fair to the wait staff, and I said I’m not paying for it, and the wait staff can take it up with managers and let them explain it to the owners. He informed me they have been told numerous times and it would not change. I’m a generous tipper and will continue to be, unless I see the surcharge at any restaurant and I will gladly tax the staff. Owners should be smart enough to just go up on their prices and save their help from facing the customers.
Me and my college friends came here for my friends birthday brunch. I would not go here if your wanting good food. The food was over priced and everything on my plate besides the biscuit was bad. On top of that the service was really bad. We had the manager as our server and she was very disrespectful and inattentive. She probably went stopped by our table a good 2 times. You should definitely go somewhere else.
In a half empty restaurant you typically would not think it would take an hour to get an appetizer and three entrees. The waiter was kind enough to apologize multiple times, but at that point maybe the manager should have stopped by and offered a discount or some concession.
We had such high hopes for this place. We were so disappointed. I had the Stroganoff and it was inedible. Everyone at the table tasted it and spit it out. Our party also had Pork and chicken Alfredo and some sunflower seed chicken. It was all gross. No one finished it. The bread was a cross between a corn bread density and a cake like texture. Bread is my comfort food and I couldn’t eat it. We have never been so disappointed in food before. I can’t recommend this place at all. The building is also very run down.
Went for Easter brunch. Ordered the " not a club" basically a hamburger and blt together hamburger was overcooked and maybe three slices of bacon. Overpriced at $14. WILL NOT be going back. Waiter was friendly. 8/29/21 As you can see haven't been here since Easter. But some family members wanted to come it was even worse than it was at Easter. Cook I guess doesn't know the difference between over medium and over hard eggs, someone didn't know the difference between tortillas and toast, potatoes were lukewarm probably the best thing was the macaroni and cheese no one ever came for refills on soft drinks or to ask how the food was, had to ask for our mimosas, and never brought the bloody Mary until we asked for it again. The dining area we were in had four tables of customers a total of 14 people so they weren't busy. The consensus at our table was never to return.
