Nice little hangout near campus. The chips and queso, waffle fries, and appetizers are delicious. The beer-Rita might sound strange at first, but it’s delicious with a dos XX.

Chimys has a wonderful atmosphere with an amazing staff. Food is very good, especially those fries. Drinks are always good, and you haven't been to Chimys without getting one of their margs!

Man I tell you if I could go to Chimy's right now I would. Their menu is straight to the point which is everything that I've ever asked of a restaurant. Oh and let's not forget those very delicious margarita's that the bartenders tend to pour heavy on (which I don't mind not one bit). The only negative is that I'm not there right now!

Try a Chilton!! Refreshing and salty at the same time, lots of tasty flavors. Our group couldn't reach a consensus on best, but all enjoyed our choice and some of the others. Nice tables outside for an enjoyable time.

Had a few drinks here and everyone was super nice. The margaritas are good and we also had some Las Vegas shots that were yummy. Snacked on some chips and salsa and called it a night. The place is constantly packed with people waiting in line to get in. It's cheap and really good. Thanks!!!

Typical bar but serve great food. They do check every single person's id if you buy alcohol....but that is great since they are so close to the local college. Portion sizes are huge!! The steak tacos are phenomenal!!!! My fav was the loaded fries!!!

Chimy's has some yummy American-Mexican fare. It's certainly not authentic Mexican, it's more of a super-American version of Tex-Mex style food. So, keep that in mind. With that said, it's super good food. The portions are massive and the prices are affordable. Staff are very friendly and helpful when ordering. I really like the changa mud with their seasoned chips. Also, I'm a huge fan of the bean and cheese nachos. They have plenty of options for ordering and a nice salsa bar. You can eat inside, dine outside, carry-out, and they deliver on some apps. Give them a try for sure! I'm also told they have solid margaritas and a nice drink menu. They get busy at night and during game days. It's a popular spot for Tech students.

Got a steak fajita soft taco to go. Opened the box & it didn't look very appetizing. Looks are deceiving. Pico was really good too. Taste was awesome.

This is an order and search for a seat kind of place. You will get carded at the door, which I believe helps the food/drink line move fast. I ordered 2 grilled shrimp tacos and they were twice the size I thought they would be. The food was delicious and the college crowd was a good watch. Good value and friendly staff.

Everything I have had to eat at this place has tasted really good. That’s based on multiple visits over several years. The tacos and chimichangas are delicious. The nachos come on a huge plate. The place is a college bar and grill atmosphere, music and a motley mix of tables and chairs. The service is good, the last time we were there the waitress came by the table like every 5 minutes to see if we needed anything. If your near, go get a beer and chimichanga!

Chimys was suggested by an Alumni. We went last night. It didn't waver! The atmosphere fun for students & visitors! The steak fajita nachos were perfect for two as the menu stated. Generous portion of meat & cheese. Onions sautéed perfect with just enough jalapeños to give flavor without overwhelming. Whiskey Rita tasty & perfect. The security checked & carded as necessary much to my daughter's chagrin. We would go back!

It's a great place with awesome tacos! The patio is smoke friendly and a relaxing time. The music is eclectic mix of everything. Try the frozen mango raspberry margarita but be careful! Parking can be an issue ond weekend nights but not an issue for lazy Sunday. If you're a Mexican food fan, this is the best place in Lubbock

Food and drinks are good, a bit on the high side being so close to a college. They do charge a credit card fee which should be their responsibility. At least they tell you, but it's on your receipt AFTER you pay.

Fun place to snack and have Margaritas. Can become very lively toward the end of the week. Everyone who visits Lubbock should go at least once. It does get packed and lines could get to be one in one out and tends to get worse when people are entering through side and/or back doors "because they know people".

Loved the atmosphere. For being lunch time the music was a little loud to talk over. Food was good, people were friendly. I would give it a 5 but neither one of the toilets in the girls' bathroom flushed.

Long lines that I always have to contemplate if the margaritas and food are worth the wait... most of the time it is.. but it's a bit ridiculous considering people cut all the time and bouncers don't do much about it even if it's done in front of them.

We ended up here by accident because we needed to feed our kids after a long road trip, and it was alright. It was definitely more of a bar/hangout for adults. Which is to be expected in a college town. The food we got was good. I got fish tacos, I don't know what I was expecting, but they just had cheese and a fried fish filet on them. They came with a sauce that tasted somewhere between ranch and tarter sauce. It was okay, I just am not used to cheese with fish. My husband got nachos because we (thought) we saw some walk by, and they looked incredible, but when he got his, they were just chips with a little shredded cheese and beans on them. I guess the ones we saw walk by had been drenched in queso or something. They looked soooo good. I also saw a quesadilla walk by that looked pretty fantastic. The music was very loud, like too loud. Again, a bar/hangout type place. Overall, we wish we had gone somewhere else because we had our kids with us, and it just wasn't enjoyable with/for the kids. None of the things I listed would bother me if I was there by myself or with friends for drinks. It was a GREAT place to chill and drink and enjoy some decent food.

Local college bar with eats. Good atmosphere for the most part. Ordered the beef nachos, which is big enough for two. I ordered avocado slices on them and was given 3 little slices for .99 cents. They have a topping bar so you can add your own. Really should have guacamole on the menu. Be prepared to be carded, no matter what age you are. I am 56 and still got carded before entry.

Grilled fish tacos were tasty, but could have used some slaw or onions/cilantro. Margaritas seemed light on the tequila. They are premixed so you can't tell from the pour, but can in the taste. Definitely a college crowd. Super polite at the register.

We went during the day and had lunch. The chimichanga was excellent and margaritas weren't half bad but it was pretty expensive for what we got... The location feels very small and I'm sure when there is a crowd it can be cramped. I would not want to come on a busy day.

Stopped in late after freshman move-in to try this local spot. Lots of people recommend it. It was full of college kids-as expected- which will be fun for ours. The food was pretty good, fast, generous portion. Loved the salsa/ add-on bar. Easy to get in and out fast the night we went

They'll make any sort of margarita you can request, and have house margarita happy hours. They also make decent tacos, which you get to put your own toppings on from the topping / salsa bar. There are several areas to sit, including an outside patio.

My first time at Chimy’s today for lunch. It wasn’t too busy, but I hear it gets pretty packed & I can see why. The restaurant is pretty small, but is very laid back. The pork & green chilies chimichanga was pretty awesome. Waffle fries with cheese & green chilies was pretty good too. I also had a mango margarita that was fantastic. Prices were a little high, but everything else was good. I think I will make a visit to Chimi’s every time I come to Lubbock.

Always packed full of students, so be prepared to wait (unless you know the staff, then they'll let you in the side gate). Not a bad margarita, food is pretty good. All in all, ok.

The staff was super friendly, drinks were good and so was most of the food. The fried fish tacos were not good at all, thought my daughter was over exaggerating, but they literally tasted like dirty fish grease.

It's a staple around tech and food is surprisingly good. The Chilton's are bombastic. But it's cramped if you're inside and out. It's not an overly friendly atmosphere.

Make sure you ask if they have cut you off every single time that you order a drink. Went for my friend's 21st birthday and she barely drank anything (was not acting the slightest but drunk) yet the bartenders cut her off along with another girl in our party but they NEVER told the other girl that they cut her off so after she paid for a round of shots and took a SIP of hers all of the bouncers and bartenders came over and made a whole ordeal and kicked her out. Absolutely ridiculous and the manager didn't even care that his staff lacked communication.

I had my first ever drink here on my 21st birthday, but today I was disappointed.I came here today for the Tuesday drink/food specials. I ordered 2 soft tacos at $2 each and a frozen marg ($5.50 per their website) and was charged $13 - the math ain't mathin 😭

Mexi Shabby Chic anybody ? Food is mediocre drinks could be better. I still had a fun time here with my buddies. The young energetic clients they serve in this college town is what makes the place a place to try at least once ... maybe twice. The servers are very attentive but hey it gets crowded at peak hours so they are doing their best to keep up with the crowds. Tip them well. They are hard working College kids after all.

My experience was more humorous than enjoyable…. This was my first time there. My husband took us for dinner at 6:50 on a Friday. First thing was that I had to get huge Xs on my hand to eat dinner. I’m 27… That’s fine, I understand they have to protect their establishment. I just didn’t anticipate needing my ID for dinner. Next we ordered our dinner. But when we went to sit down, there were no seats. We had to go back up to ask for our meal to-go. However, when I waited in line a gentleman ask me if it was my 21st birthday and why I didn’t look like I was having fun… 🤣 The food was fine. This is just a college bar. Not a place for a work meal or family dinner. The buildings setup is not practical. They have long picnic tables where many parties of 2 sit at. And in the very back, bar like seating with counter space about 8” long.

It was ait.. I ordered 4 shots.. And she poured for like 2 plus all the ice watered. It down.. I think taco bell tacos were better .. Plus the nachos looked like they jus threw chz on it..meaning it was jus one big blob of chz on like 10 chips did not look appetizing at all 👎...

Had the pulled pork, probably a 7/10. It definitely would have been a 10/10 if they had Barbecue sauce.

We went in for drinks and ordered our drink backwards saying we would like a beer in a margarita with hand gesture included. We were misheard and when we realized it was a full beer being served we said excuse me but we wanted the one in the margarita. Instantly we got such rude service. She even threw the lime into our glass! I was appalled ! When I asked to speak to the manager at first I was told by a different coworker no problem then the one who was rude asked what it was regarding! I dismissed her request. The manager did take the time to speak with us and was very nice and apologitic. Afterwards the bartender apologized and while we appreciated it, we chose to leave after our drinks turning down complimentary drinks and all. There are so many bars where we know the bartenders have great bar manners it's safe to say we won't be returning.

This was quite the experience. We thought we were eating at a Mexican restaurant and by the reviews we couldn't tell it was ACTUALLY a college bar that sold food. You order everything at the counter and then fight thru the crowd at the bar/ordering line, and grab your food. Also, this place is TINY inside, so go at a time it's not 110° outside so you can sit in their shade. The tacos SUCK. SO bad. But they have a Chimychanga spelled just like that, that is DELICIOUS. Can't day we'll ever go here again as we felt totally out of place. They even ID you before you can walk in the door. I felt we were going to a club, to eat dinner. Was just a weird experience all around. Unless your 25 and under, you may just want to get your food to go lol.

Upon arriving for lunch noon on a Friday, had to stand in line as they card before going in. I get why.. because of college students, but they should ask that when purchasing food or drinks at counter. Food is alright and atmosphere could be better as you may have to stand and eat because it does get crowded with students.

Food was ok. My complaint was the menu prices did not match up even remotely with what they charge. I ordered two ground beef street tacos. The menu said it was suppose to be $3.79. They charge over $10. The waitress (who was very polite) said that the menus are old and there is nothing she could do about it. I know college places can have lower standards but this is a little much. This is just poor management.

We went during "happy hour" on the hours posted on their site, but when we ordered drinks we were told the site needed to be updated because the happy hour specials were no longer available, but yet college students were talking non stop on the great drink specials, but somehow they weren't applied to us.

I expected more for spending almost 30$ for the nachos and my fiancé's burger. The chips are burnt and you can tell when you bite into them. The meat is cold even though I just picked my food up not even 20 minutes ago. There was no guacamole or pico on the nachos like I ordered online and no vegetables on my fiancé's burger. Not worth the money in my opinion. The lady that gave it to me even helped me put it in the car. Which was sweet but maybe I should have checked the food in the building. Sadly I have my 9 month old with me so I wasn't able to do so.

You went to Chimy’s at 5pm, saw a $4 shot sign, they didn’t have any of them, and two drinks still ran you over $30 with tip. That’s frustrating. Especially when the expectation was “fun and casual,” not “why did I just spend dinner money on two drinks?”

As a student, I come here all the time with my classmates. However, recently they have been hiring some very rude young men. They always yell at you to keep walking when entering with two friends and waiting for their ID’s to get checked, and hassle you to move from wherever you are standing, even the open outdoor porch area. Most recently, my classmates and I (perfectly sober, had JUST purchased our first drinks, calmly talking on the porch) were KICKED OUT for “standing in the way”. One of the guys working here came and yelled at us, told us he had reminded us of standing in the wrong place multiple times (this was the first time), and rudely told us to get out. We calmly asked if we could at least finish our drinks that we had just bought and were clearly full, to which he replied “you can on your way out” and proceeded to hustle us out the exit. If there isn’t enough space for the number of people you’re letting in, decrease your capacity. Bar service is also mediocre at best- bartenders are brusque and I have gotten a “mango marg” with zero mango flavor. Edit: Called to make this complaint and management was very nice about it and promised to address this with staff. Doesn’t change the terrible experience I had that night, but does ease the sting a little.

Long wait for food that doesn’t take long to cook. Flies all around the ordering counter and condiments station. The beef fajita taco was mixed with ground beef and PLAIN. No Tex-Mex taste at all! I know we’re in Lubbock but I know the Hispanic community is prominent enough to align the taste of the food to promote authenticity. The worst part— a strawberry margarita didn’t even taste like a margarita! I had to add 6 lime wedges!! Didn’t even finish the drink or taco it was so bad. You will need a bypass after eating the quesadilla. The only thing more greasy than the food is the stank of frat daddies in heat. Ladies, I took my daughter and her friend here for family weekend. Protect yourself. The margaritas are sweet, but the number of boys attempting to taint your drink while the oblivious staff look away is what will really get you buzzed. Overly sweet drinks designed to get you drunk. Bathrooms unsanitary. Lots of catcalling and touchy drunks. Stale salsa bar. Blegh.

Too expensive...offer options a if they are included in the price....but are all priced option. I feel like if I wanted a jalapeño bun I would have ask for it. Then you don't get to chose if you want fries you either get them or you don't price remains the same.

I went in with my grandchildren ( 18 and 23) We are visiting from Austin . very rude entry boy . Told my granddaughter to move and there was no line . My daughter had planned to meet us an “ entry boy “ did she could not go in . no explanation . apparently they were full but explanation would have been appreciated. escalated when father just wished to tell daughter they were going somewhere else . not allowed to enter but he did so he could talk to daughter . name calling ensued . as a first time visitor to TT I was very disappointed in service of entry . Queso was good .

Sarah (bartender at the front) had people waiting for over 10 minutes as she talked with her friends. Instead of helping the rest of the staff, or any customers she told us that her “line was closed” as she personally poured drinks for the same people she continued her conversations with. I think this behavior is very unprofessional and petty. If you want customers you should serve them without an attitude.

My reason to visit Chimys is to spend money for work. After the game we went to Chimys and stood in line for 20 minutes. While standing in line “swaying” to the music playing, we swayed too much and were too drunk. We were denied entry due to how “drunk” we were from “swaying” to the music. Bouncer Seth is ready for super cop status and more power to him, wish him all the luck in the correction world but he’s too much for chimys. Asking managers for help was useless, kudos to them for sticking by their guys, but they cost themselves $$$$’s due to the company were with. Work at chimys requires 1st grade education.

Extremely unprofessional staff that escalated a minute and insignificant scenario, resulting in a ruined night for a family. Do not go to this location if you have a party of mixed ages as they are quick to throw out accusations without proof. Staff members are quick to accuse and helicopter around customers when the effort could go into improving their services.

If you are looking for a place to watch Tech games, this is it. But if you are looking for good food and drinks, go somewhere else. Overall the food and drinks were just ok.

So I deliver for postmates and sometimes I have to call ahead to avoid wait times. Apparently they stop taking call in orders at 7 which made me wait in line. The guys at the front handing out wristbands were letting their friends through around the side of course but skipping the line entirely. As far as courteousness the people there will tell you they don’t have a burger then they will also get yelled at by their boss (the owner) about not wanting to take orders from apps. They were upset at me but apparently it was their fault for not knowing what’s on the menu. Also I don’t appreciate them telling me that I’m being difficult because of them wanting to take drink orders. I get your busy and it can get frustrating but if you can’t handle this type of stress then maybe you need to look into a new line of work. Anyways if you’re a college student and think about ordering through an app like postmates then don’t because apparently per “Sarah” the “owner doesn’t like taking those orders at all”. By the way I wrote all this while waiting for my order. If I could rate this place a zero I would. For customer service, handling of an escalation; etc.

Do not be fooled. This is not a restaurant. It is a bar that serves food. If you liked to be humiliated... when you use the wrong door and attacked by staff to present ID and have your guest marked with big X's on the hand because they are under 21... all by 1130am on a Friday. This place is for you. Staff is rude and poorly trained. Parking is horrible and from the exterior it does not look clean. Not family friendly... and well, my experience outside was so bad... I never made it past the door.

I used to love occasionally coming here for cheese fries and a yummy margarita, however the past few times I've come the employees have been extremely rude. This past weekend (5/25) some friends visited from out of town and wanted to come to an old favorite. There was a bartender (working the right register when facing the bar) who was extremely disrespectful to EVERYONE, vaping in guests faces, and over charging patrons (she charged me $15 for a drink that I later discovered was $8). With how comfortably she did this, it must happen often. When I mentioned how awful she was to a friend, a random person from the table next to us asked if I was talking about said bartender and joined in on the conversation. I've tried contacting management but there has been no answer when I call, and they have been closed when I've tried to go in person. I used to recommend this place for visitors, but it's definitely off of the list. I've worked in the service industry for a decade, and have never experienced anything like this in Lubbock.

Over $11 for a plate of fries and they have the audacity to say the ranch that comes with it in a tortilla chip bowl will be an extra $2. Guess im not getting my favorite app anymore. What a shame.

Sydney got my order wrong twice and all I had was a single chicken taco with no onions or peppers. The first time she actually gave me a beef taco, the second time she put everything on the taco. This is my first bad experience here but she was rude as hell 😃

The girl behind the bar taking our order was rude from the start trying to rush us when we were the only people there, when she repeatedly got our order wrong after we sent it back the attitude heightened. When a margarita was “too close to me” after i didn’t order one she came to our table, took the drink away that my boyfriend paid for, and threw it into the trash. If you see the brunette with a gap in her teeth i would just turn right around and go somewhere else to avoid TERRIBLE customer service.

I would not come back to Chimys. My group was told we couldn’t be where we were standing 2-3 times in under an hour. There were not many places to stand in the first place as it was crowded. The food was good but not great. The mango margarita was tasty. I value good service & a welcoming atmosphere, which chimys lacked.

Absolutely ridiculous. An employee at Chimy’s kicked me out for “standing in the wrong place” while we were literally sitting at a table. No professionalism, no explanation, just an attitude and a power trip. Instead of managing actual issues, this employee chose to harass paying customers. If this is how Chimy’s trains their staff to treat people, don’t waste your time or money. Worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. Can’t enjoy one minute with the guy that has a mustache, tall and skinny. Even after he kicked us out he walked to the outside patio and blew a kiss towards myself and my group when we were already over it and leaving. He clearly did it to impose power and was so rude and aggressive the whole time we were there. multiple people were complaining, even other staff members.

I was there last night and witnessed a little bouncer kick out a guy who was drinking water (not drunk or beligerant). My group watched the entire thing and none of us could figure out why he was removed. I had talked to him when we were walking in and he was a cool guy. Not a good look for this place. So much so we and the group next to us left right after- decided we didn’t want to support a place that treats customers that way. I’d understand if the guy was drunk and yelling or being rude. Find another place to go. Too overpriced for that crap.
