Omg!!!!! All the way from san antonio, we are so use to tacos, the only difference is they are called burritos but I can say this place was awesome, my burritos and mi amor were so good with our hot coffee.... the waitress was so awesome had great customer service and was rocking all her tables, I will be back for sure whenever I come back this way!!!!!

Great all the time we go But only thing that would change is the description of the food. I guess we need to ask if we have a questionable plate what it cones with it. Carne asada was pretty spicy/peppery.

Their greeting was great, they respectfully seated me and the family. We took our time to order which they weren't in a hurry .when we were ready to order they came and took our order. Here in Lubbock for work. Stopped by Joel's to grab a breakfast burrito and it was so good! It was the perfect size and the ingredients tasted really fresh. The ladies working there also seemed genuinely nice and friendly which is super refreshing these days.

What an amazing family owned and operated. All this homemade food really hit the spot. Joel and his wife Nati personally came and made us feel at home and catered to our every wish. We recommend this place to all our family and friends. We will see you again our new friends.

First time going to this restaurant. I must say I enjoyed the atmosphere. It is small, clean and a comfortable place to go. Now the food was delicious. I had the smothered burrito. I would highly recommend this gem to anyone.

Eat here all the time. Lunch is a buffet. Not expensive. Used to be around 10 bucks but it went up to 13 I believe. Still good food, great staff, clean and I will continue to be a customer.

I went yesterday with my son, and it was both of our first time there. I ordered the build your own burrito with barrbacoa. Let me tell you that barbacoa was AMAZING! It was juicy and full of flavor. My son ordered the chicken enchiladas, and said that the corn tortillas were the best he had ever had. I felt like the chips were homemade, and the salsa was fresh tasting, and only a little bit spicy! The waitress was just okay, but the more mature woman that checked us out was super sweet! The restaurant is a wonderful little hole-in-the wall find, that I am glad to have found. Give it a try even though it looks a bit sketchy on the outside, because you are going to LOVE the food!!

Loved that I was able to order a custom burrito with no problem. I ordered a grilled chicken and egg with cheese burrito. I always get "oh no I'm sorry we can't do that", or "oh, um I have to check because that's two different menus. So I just give up. So I loved that. Also the chicken was white meat and not dry.

Food was so good! I got enchiladas and I'm very picky about my enchiladas and I was pleasantly surprised! Green and red sauce are both delicious, carne guisada is off the charts. Chips are A1. My husband had the menudo and it was good. If you need some decently priced, amazing Mexican food, Joel's is that! I will be back.

Been dining here for years. I love the food and you guys must try the cool-aide. It's fantastic. Joel him self comes out and checks on every table to see how their food was.

We decided to give Joel’s a try after hearing people mention it on FB. We went with another couple after church on Sunday. You will think you are in a residential area and then it just sits right on the corner. It’s a small place that doesn’t have a lot of tables but we were seated immediately. Waitress was great. I loved the chips and salsa. Some of us had breakfast and some ate lunch. Everyone agreed that it was a good choice. My wife and I both had them Joel’s Special with 2 eggs, beans, potatoes, 2 sausage patty’s and tortillas. It was very good. For us living on the 98th and University area it is off the beaten path but I would recommend it. Prices were very reasonable and the service was great and they were very friendly. I would go back for sure.

I have been looking for a place that makes breakfast burritos. I googled and I seen this. Went by and let me tell ya. This burrito was good. It’s hidden so no one can really tell it’s here. Places like this are the best spot. I’ll be back to try lunch and dinner. Oh and their Hot Sauce FREAKING AMAZING. I’m a hot sauce fan and this one is so gooooddd!! I love the decor too!!

My family has been going to Joel's for almost 20 years and it is one of our favorite places in Lubbock. The owners are kind and good people. The atmosphere is always great. There really just is not enough that I could say about how special this place is, I would give more stars if I could!!

If you're looking for authentic, this IS the place! There are many places that claim "authentic" Mexican food. Not true. If you grew up, eating it, you KNOW authentic. Those places are generic. The food at Joel's is amazing. Great flavor, just like going home, to eat. Awesome!!!

It was kind of a surprise to see Joel's in the middle of a residential area. We enjoyed our breakfast there, really great traditional breakfast, with Kool-Aid!!! The kool-aid was so good! I loved it with my breakfast, very nostalgic 😃 Tortillas are homemade & very delish, we got some Sopa just so that we could try it, & it was so awesome!! Just like how my Grandma used to make 😊 and it can definitely be an entree by itself with some warm homemade Tortillas! Yum! The service was just really welcoming and attentive. The service if I could give 10 stars I would. I definitely will be back for breakfast at anytime but I do want to try some lunch entrees as well. I do highly recommend Joel's for breakfast! And I'll update when I am able to enjoy lunch at Joel's. You won't regret your trip there!

Food at Joel's is good it's hot and it's true Mexican food because I am a Hispanic when I'm a Hispanic and I know how to cook Mexican food so it was a good place to go eat it's a good family place to go eat the only thing is that it's only only till 1 or 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon but other than that it is a real good place to eat

Hidden gem in the Arnett Benson neighborhood. Friendly waitstaff, quick service. The salsa was fresh, tasty with just a little kick. Chips were crispy and not overly greasy. Aguas frescas were yummy (limonada and horchata). Food portions were just the right size and priced right. Will definitely stop by here again.

Food is good. As it seems to be going everywhere else, the service is lacking and almost non existent at times. Prices a little high but overall good Mexican food.

Good Mexican food with an at home feel. Soda is offered in bottles but not provided on tap. We paid around $12 per person for our meals and everyone was happy with their food.

Joel's Restaurant serve authentic Mexican food. This is a place we visit regularly. The food is always top notch and the service can't be beat. This is a small family oriented restaurant so I would suggest that you get there early. The parking is a bit limited so it might be a good idea to carpool over for lunch. I hope to see you there.

Food was great!! but prices can be better, and only one complaint but red and green Salsas seemed a little salty.

I ordered 4 rice cheese and asado burritos and 2 carne guisada burritos and they got my order wrong they did it backwards and when I called to correct it they repeatedly told me I got what I ordered even though I didn’t!

No home made tortillas. My mother didn't get what she wanted after explaining to the waitress what and how she wanted a certain burrito. Sorry to say that i will not be going back. I loved the carne guisada tho

Called in and ordered food, waited over 20 minutes in the drive thru and no one came. The sign above drive thru said open, I tried to call the restaurant no one answered. When I went inside to get my food, it had already been almost 40 minutes since I had called and my food wasn’t even ready.

Worst Service ever the door fly's open o .the way out and lady currsed at me the little old man I take care of wanted to eat from there today and yesterday and had hard time getting his food cause they didn't want to take the tickets he won from Christan radio station this world is so sad they fought me out of there told me mean things restroom doesn't work right and girl wanted to fight and I'm pregnant omg never going there again food was also cold and under cooled

Ordered our food went to the bathroom when I came back the food was there and my kids were already eating they both got enchilada rice and beans and then my 8 year old says mom the beans taste weird (they were still eating it) so i taste my beans on my plate also enchiladas rice and beans and my beans are soured and I taste my girls beans they also soured I let the waitress know she looks at my girls plates which they almost finished and just grabs mine because I only tasted the beans. I get a new plate but my daughters stopped eating and said what do we eat? So I shared my plate and my husband shared his. We thought maybe they would help with the bill since not all the food was eaten but whatever we paid for the whole meal. Today my girls were taken to the Emergency room they have food poisoning!! Never will I eat there again.

This place trynna serve the community but overpriced food ain't serving the Annette there's people already struggling and we ain't finna pay no 3.25 for 2 slices of bacon I can buy a whole pack of bacon at amigos for that price bruh if u want to get poked in the eye and pay for overpriced tex mex/ not authentic Mexican food then this is the place... what a joke

I do not recommend this place to anyone. The prices are ridiculous. I asked why I was charged $16.45 for two single meat burritos for $5.99 each that were greasy af and one had potatoes (extra .40) , and a single can of coke that was $2.50 and when we asked for a cup it looked like they used it as a scooper for ice at one point from all the scratches on the side of the cup. I didn’t ask for salsa, but they automatically assumed and charged me .50 for the salsa when it doesn’t say anywhere they charge for salsa. They should really mention that or post it somewhere. I know it’s not a lot of money lost, but if you’re going to rip people off don’t be a c*nt about it. When I spoke to the lady about my charges she was super defensive and tried to comeback with “No OnE AsKs AbOuT oUr pRiCeS fOr SaLsA” Girl, this place is in the hood and I doubt that from looking at some reviews. In fact, all I said to her was you guys charge for salsa and automatically put it on there without asking or letting that person know? It’s a legitimate question. - there wouldn’t be so much confusion if there was an updated menu with the prices just like every other business.Quality, communication and customer service is garbage.

Staff was friendly but the food was horrific. My husband and I had the buffet based on the reviews but it was the worst buffet I’ve had in my life. The selection was scarce and the food that was there was no good. I had a lemonade and it tasted like lemons with soap and Splenda. Everything was terrible. I really wanted to like it but I was so disappointed. I will never be back.

They gave me about 7 small cubed potatoes not worth the cost of the meal and it had a funny taste to it...food was not good and the one server forgot us a couple of times service was horrible and so was the food, they don't even deserve one star or even half. Seriously terrible all the way around
