We have been going to Cafe Del Rio for over 20 years. Have always enjoyed the place. The prices are not bad and the service is very good. We absolutely love going to Del Rio. Update: 9-30-23 We are here and this time the service wasn't the best. Probably the worst service we ever had here. There's salsa tasted like cold tomato paste. Also our waitress would check on the tables beside us and totally pass out up. We was there for a good bit of time and it was upsetting she was constantly checking on the tables to the right and to the left of us and very little on us. Other than the salsa tasting like cold tomato paste, the tostitos we're just about burnt and the guacamole had a very strong garlic taste. This is the only time I have ever had a complaint about this place so I'm hoping it's just a bad day. It was disappointing.

We enjoyed lunch here at a reasonable price. However, the food was very salty. We enjoyed the brisket tacos, but the rice was not that great and the chips were almost too salty to eat. The waiters were very attentive and it was a nice atmosphere. The food arrived quickly and the beer was served with a salted rim, which was also nice.

Fajitas, beans, and the chips/queso are always very good there, and we've always had great servers. The restaurant always appears clean. If they could approve on the taste of the rice, it doesn't really taste like Mexican rice though. It tastes odd.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since it opened, and the food is usually amazing. I often bring new people with me because I’ve always bragged about how good it is. But this time was a little disappointing. We came in around supper time, and unfortunately, the food tasted like it was leftover from lunch ... not fresh like it normally is. The service was great (the staff was kind and attentive), but the restrooms were not in good shape. I understand it was right before the dinner rush, but you’d think everything would be restocked and cleaned before the evening crowd arrived. I still love this place and hope this was just an off day, because it’s usually one of my favorites.

Loved the different complimentary salsas. Wish one was actually spicy. The Laredo combo was good but not anything exceptional. The cheese enchiladas were good first bite but not so much after they cooled off. Loved the taco. It stayed nice & crispy. Rice tasted like dirty rice...not bad just not Spanish flavors. Lauren, our server, was very nice & exceptional service.

I've passed by this place many times over the years but never stopped. The chips were fine but the salsa was pretty plain with no defining characteristics. At the waitress' recommendation, I ordered the lunch fajitas. They were ok, but once again failed to impress. The melted butter was a nice touch though. The option to hit the ice cream machine on the way out is definitely a plus! This is perfectly average Mexican food in a very nice building. Nothing about the food delights the taste buds begging you for more. Next time I'm rolling through, I'll probably just roll on past.

I have been to Texas a number of times on business, but this is the first opportunity I had to try some real Tex-Mex food so I was excited to try this place. The decor and atmosphere I would give 5 stars. Unfortunately I was not super knowledgeable of their menu which was extensive and a little overwhelming. So I ordered the dish that I posted photos of which was kinda a sampler. It tasted good but I think there was just too much fried food and cheese for my liking because I had serious heartburn all night. Next time I will try something else with less fried food and more veggies perhaps. The chips were freshly fried. I usually prefer pico de gallo over salsa but they didn’t put much cilantro or any fresh garlic in their Pico de gallo so next time I will just stick with the salsa which had more flavor. BTW: For a beautiful sit down restaurant, I must say the food was super affordable and my server was super attentive so I have no hesitation recommending this restaurant to others.

We love cafe Del Río. My kids always ask to go here. It's a favorite. I really like the enchiladas. My husband likes the portion sizes. He never finishes, which is surprising.

Tamales are terrible and overpriced. They're dry and just plain terrible. I've had better tamales at a parking lot at a gas station. Other options are ok. Rice tastes like school food.

Plenty of Mexican food choices and the quality and taste are solid. They also don’t skimp on the chips and salsa either. Service was friendly. Would return.

We have gone several times and I'm just not impressed with anything. The menu is just the same thing as everywhere else. They won't shred any meat, and they make piles of ingredients on the pathetic few chips on the nacho plates. The menu says topped with but no, it's a pile of things around the plate. while it was definitely quiet. The service was very slow. We ran out of salsa before the chips. We had combo fajitas for 2. There was no seasoning on the meat that I could tell. The steak was very tough. I have been to the one in Beaumont years ago and remember liking it . I am sad we didn't have a better experience. For what we paid it was very disappointing. I hope it just was a bad day for the staff and maybe they will improve.

Im giving 2 stars because I got fajitas and asked about getting tortillas and they said it came with 6. Got home and had 0. The chicken looked like it was Tyson grilled and ready. The queso and jalapeño ranch were great! The rice was alright. The refried beans were delicious. I am going to give it another try in person and see if this review needs editing.

Ordered chicken fried steak, beans and rice. I received beans, french fries, and chicken fried steak do hard I couldn't cut it. A waste of good money.

Very disappointed. Dirty chairs, walls, decor. Water tasted BAD- like all our meals. Queso was inedable. Waitress wasn't familiar w/ meals/sauces. 4 people bill was over $110. Grade D- or F Positive: Shrimp tasted ok & not overcooked. Fajitas at other tables smelled good. Kids tenders were big & he said they tasted good with the ketchup on them.

I don't even know the words to use to describe how absolutely horrible the food here is. This was our third time visiting after we decided to give them one more chance. Never again. We had two types of salsas, a queso, and an avacado dip to start....ZERO FLAVOR. I ordered the Juarez and the chicken fajita taco looked like something a kindergartener put together! There were two tiny pieces of chicken and based on its appearance I'm not sure it was even grilled in any way. The tostada's beef was obviously days old and dry and flavorless. The tostada shell tasted old and stale. I can't even describe to you the nastiness that was the glob of cheese they call an enchilada and how are you this bad at making basic rice and beans when you are a Tex Mex restaurant? When my husband expressed how bad the food was and the fact I ate three bites off my entire plate the waiter actually said oh sorry about that would you like any to go boxes? What? No I don't ever want to experience anything about this place ever again. The best part of my lunch was my glass of water.
