I loved this place and I think everyone else does too , service was great, food was awesome, ribeye I got was very good. Drinks were perfect.
The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when going out to eat. But the real standout during our visit was the young Black woman working the front. She helped us more than our actual server did. We watched her manage the host stand, answer phones, organize the wait list, and keep the entire front of the restaurant moving almost by herself. While doing all of that, we unfortunately overheard a server speak to her very rudely while she was simply trying to get our table seated. Even with that kind of disrespect happening around her, she never lost her composure. She stayed calm, professional, and continued to treat every guest with kindness. I’ve been in the restaurant industry for 35 years, and I can honestly say I have rarely seen someone handle that level of chaos with that much poise and professionalism. Her attitude, work ethic, and personality were easily the most impressive part of the experience. Management seriously needs to recognize and protect employees like her. People who are clearly holding the restaurant together while still maintaining that level of professionalism deserve far more support and respect than what we witnessed. P.S. I rarely ever leave reviews, but we are visiting family from New York and felt this needed to be said. We will definitely be back because the food was great, but seeing someone who works that hard be spoken to that way was honestly the biggest turnoff of the night.
This was by far one of my best experiences. I usually dine in, but on this particular morning I decided to place a takeout order. We had a relatively big order, and everything was handled efficiently and accurately. Paris, our takeout specialist, did an excellent job labeling each item and ensuring the entire order was complete, including all necessary utensils and condiments. The customer service was friendly, organized, and professional. She truly made the experience smooth and enjoyable, and it definitely encourages me and my family to return.
Yummmm!!! Ok yeah, I ordered a BURGER when I had a multitude of Cajun food options…🫣But hey! I’m on a mission to find THE best burger on this planet! Or at least in east Texas!!! The Classic burger, cooked to perfection, char-grilled, loved the bun…you know the kind, slightly sweet? Fresh tomatoes, cheese, caramelized onions. Amazing! The fries. The FRIES! In 64 years on this planet, I’ve not experienced fries like these! So very crispy on the outside, just enough salt. Tender inside! The hubby had the stuffed flounder. His fave. His go-to! Light, creamy sauce, lump crab….delish. Hubby claims Pelican Pointe has THE BEST oysters in a 5-state region! Alan, our server, was gracious, humorous, on pointe…pun intended!😂 Just go there, experience this Cajun joint!
I had the great pleasure of dining here and everything was great! I enjoyed my dish. I had the boudin eggrolls, the raging Cajun chicken dish, I think that's what it was called, with the asparagus, mixed vegetables and dirty rice! DELICIOUS! My only personal (no bearing on the resturant or staff) complaint is that the mixed vegetables had a sweet glaze on them that I personally did not care for but had the glaze been mentioned in the description I probably would've asked to omit it the glaze. The texture and grill/roast of the mixed vegetables were perfection. I would definitely go back!!
Going to Pelican Pointe was last minute, but they didnt disappoint. Food was amazing, drinks were just right and service was impeccable. They made my time with my best friend very special. We now live 2 hrs apart and rarely get to see each other due to life being too hectic. But it was like we had never been apart, our love tanks were recharged. I forgot my birthday was just a couple of days away and they did that right, too.
I stopped for a quick lunch. The atmosphere was positive. The appetizer was awesome, crawfish queso with toasted baguettes, followed by a very fresh house salad with balsamic vinaigrette and finally my main course The Southern Trinity. It was definitely the highlight of my day. Great job Pelican Pointe!! The menu demonstrated a variety of Cajun selections but I was only there for lunch so I kept it to a minimum.
Met up with some family for dinner. We had a great time catching up.❤️ Restaurant was busy but was able to find parking. I felt the place had nice decor and was clean. Service was great, we had a large party 🥳 and may have been a lil more convenient to have more help. The food was absolutely amazing and I will definitely be back when I'm back in town. Thanks 😊
If you're looking for good Cajun food or just brunch you can't go wrong stopping here! The food was excellent, some of the best fish and shrimp I've had. The crawfish etoufe was very good as well. The service was on point, no pun intended. If I had to give any criticism it would be in the fact that we had to wait about an hour to be seated. The sausage and chicken gumbo was mainly chicken so I would ask for more sausage when you order. Other than those two things, the meal was fantastic and we will be returning!
We went on Wednesday for the all you can eat shrimp and it was well worth the money. Our waitress * didn't get her name * but she was very good. You can switch up the shrimp you want. We got fried then grilled then boiled ,you can stick with the kind you like or switch up. The shrimp was very tasty and good sizes too.
A favorite of ours for Lufkin seafood. Tonight my wife had fried shrimp/catfish and fries...excellent. I had my favorite...Blackened Redfish & bacon wrapped asparagus....Disappointing. Both seemed less than fresh...tough & plating was uninspired. Service was friendly and great.
Spent ALOT of money on crab legs and shrimp and while my husband’s order came out hot mine was cold and they put mine back in the pot to reheat. Same order, same menu item. And then they bring out some fake butter substitute to dip it all in!! Yuk! If I’m going to spend that kind of money I want real butter!!
Visiting from out of town. Stopped here on a recommendation. Went on a Friday for a late lunch and was sat immediately. Overall, it was good and would eat here again if ever in the area. Location: off the road. Plenty of parking. Easy to get to. Gps took us there. Atmosphere: spacious. Table and booth available. I felt like I had privacy/not right up on other guests. Comfortable, casual. Good smells of crawfish outside. Service: overall friendly. Able to make recommendations and describe menu items. A little absent with checking in and refills. Always started walking away before we could ask/answer questions. Food: plenty of options- steak, salads, pasta, fish, shrimp, pork, poboys, burgers, chicken sandwich, boils, oysters, pizza. Appetizers include alligator, queso, mushrooms, shrimp, hushpuppies, etc. What we ordered: we tried the blackened alligator appetizer. It was really good. Enough to share between 2 people. I ordered the seafood lasagna (seafood palermo) and it was hot, cheeses and tastes really good. The asparagus that came with it was not trimmed and was a little tough. My husband ordered the pork chop ribeye with fries and mashed potatoes. His mashed came wrong as he requested no onion but it was in there. Everything tasted good and freshly made. Price: about what you'd expect, a little higher than your average restaurant . Appetizers range $6-14. Pastas $16-20. Burgers $11-16. Pizza $16. Seafood $15-30. Oysters $11-20 (depending on size of order). Not sure about boiled items, would have to ask the servers. Overall, the food had great flavor. We enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was clean and the personnel was friendly. I would recommend trying it!
Whatever you do, DONT order the $34 prime rib! It was the worst prime rib I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was so bad, I couldn’t even finish it. I’ve never not finished a steak! I could’ve gotten TWO decent prime rib steaks at Walmart for the $34. Also the booths were like sitting on slap of concrete. On a positive note, my wife loved all of her food. She loves Cajun food The waitress was great, however, the YOUNG hostess could you some retraining. (If you’re the first face of a restaurant, you need to have a personality.) Here’s my suggestion for the hostesses: “Hi, welcome to Pelican Pointe, so glad you came in today. Do you have a seating preference.” Anything which demonstrates to the customer Pelican Pointe is grateful we chose to eat at their business.
The atmosphere here was fine. The service was just okay. For appetizers, we ordered the boudin egg rolls, and they were amazing! Also, the devils on horseback were great. I ordered the Cajun Two Step with fish and shrimp. Unfortunately, it came out cold and had no seasoning. I would definitely not be coming back here.
I was in the area and my boyfriend wanted to try this spot. Busy atmosphere with mostly locals. Food prices were great, amount of sides could be better. I'd have to go again and try something else to give a better food review. I ordered chicken breast that was topped with boudain. The chicken needed seasoning if it wasn't for the boudain and cheese on top it would have been bland. I would go again if I'm in the Lufkin area...just wouldn't get this! My boyfriend enjoyed his steak! Not sure about the oysters.
The staff are slow and a little bit rude. The fries are always cold. The pizza sauce is gross and has no flavor. The burgers are good the crawfish is small maybe this years will be better. The building and vibe is great. Outside is wonderful but you will get very bad service. Inside is nice and clean but again you will get very bad service. Takes forever for you to get service and they check to see if you need anything and if they do they forget. So yeah if you want bad service cold bland food this is your spot
Nice Atmosphere for Lufkin. We went last night and I ordered the blackened fish tacos listed on the menu. The fish was hardly cooked, very soft and cold. It actually made me sick later in the evening. The prices are high for the food you actually get on your plate.
Update: We’ve visited the restaurant several times since the review was posted and the food has been great! We love to dine at unique, locally owned restaurants, so it pains me to leave this honest review. We stopped by for lunch a few minutes before noon. The hostess welcomed us and we were seated immediately. The pasta dish was hardly a full serving and had only 4 shrimp. My 14 yr old, who loves shrimp prepared any way, cut one shrimp in half and ate it, leaving the other 3 on the plate and described them as “rubber”! The fried fish I ordered was fingerling sized (3 pieces) and came with a dried out hush puppy and about 9 French fries. I had to wait for the server to return and request condiments. The tartar sauce was inedible with way too much salt. We’ve gotten great food here in the past, but on this occasion it really missed the mark. I do hope this was just a bad day for the kitchen and our server and not a trend of late. We will, however, return in the future.
