Bien hecho. Repetiremos siempre que estemos por la zona.
A classic, traditional Spanish restaurant where you can eat well at a reasonable price with good quality ingredients. And where our whole family was treated with great kindness and warmth by the staff, which in the end is just as important, if not more so, than the food itself.
Great quality food at a fraction of the price in other similar restaurants. They are also famous for their great team of waiters who do their best to make everyone feel at home while sticking to the COVID protocols.
It's a good place for breakfast and lunch, with set menus for €12 (which at this point in the Pilar neighborhood is very reasonable considering what they offer (five starters and several main courses, bread, a drink, dessert, or coffee), good pork loin sandwiches with peppers like the ones in the photos, and very good Moorish kebabs with potatoes and padrón sauce for €4.50 each. The soft drinks and some dishes are a bit pricey, but they're quality. The only thing is, they could minimize the waiting time on the open terrace. That said, when they serve you, they treat you well.
Love the orejas aperitivo. Sometimes the paella is good too. The alitas are better at Casa Pepe of course but when they have different tapas at night, they're usually delicious, if not heavily fried
Good place to eat A LOT for a small price, with 10€ you get a complete meal at lunch time. The portions are really big, no one at my table could finish everything. If you want to eat just once per day, this is your place.
A traditional bar with a set menu both on weekdays and weekends (€18). The selection was quite extensive, but the only decent thing was the entrecote, which was tasty and a good size. The artichokes were from a jar and tasted of vinegar, besides being tough. The York salad was unremarkable; the ham was bland, and the anchovies were very large and salty, with a poor texture. The fabada (Asturian bean stew) was okay, but greasy. And the pork knuckle was very fatty, unsalted, and undercooked. The desserts were nothing special. Bread and a drink are also included.
Well, a relatively inexpensive bar with acceptable quality. There's a wide variety of starters and main courses, and they're quick to serve, although the terrace waiters could have been a bit more pleasant, but oh well. The food wasn't bad. The price as of April 2025 was €13 per day and €18 on Saturdays. Apparently, it's from the same chain as Casa Pepe or Pepe el Guarro. I expect it's similar inside, with large portions and lots of chicken. In short, a high pass.
We went for a Saturday lunch, set menu, 17 euros on the terrace. The price/quality ratio wasn't great; the seafood soup was a bit bland, and the pumpkin soup was average. The meat was good, veal, but the secret was very fatty. The desserts were average. Regarding the waiters, I see many comments from other guests, and not all of them are happy. It's a bit confusing, or they seem very organized. We were served by at least three different waiters, but they weren't bad either. However, there are long waits between courses, which is typical. You arrive early and there are few people, but then it gets complicated. Lots of local people, a bit noisy. I don't think I'll go back.
Nothing special. A bar along the street where you can seat and have a beer and some tapas or raciones, but don't expect something beyond average.
Typical Spanish food and tapas. The restaurant is ok...but the best is the bar...with your drink a BIG tapa is served...
Just ok for a typical “menu” restaurant. Cheap
Siendo yo camarero he visto un servicio nefasto. No vuelvo a este local.
Don't accept the free shots they offer. They add them to the bill at €3 each. They're practically wearing balaclavas. Otherwise, it's recommended for those who like their patatas bravas cold and not spicy. The rest of the dishes are basic and not cheap. It's no wonder it was the only terrace in Monforte de Lemos with free tables.
It's awful. The waiters are arrogant, they ignore customers, and the service is unbelievable. I've been going there about once a month for a long time, and it's getting worse every year. It's become a disgrace. Like every other place in the Madrid region, this one is in the top 10 for worst service. I won't be back.
I went for lunch today to try the menu on the terrace. A tall, young waiter with a little hair sat me down at a table, I think called Fernando because that's what they called him. I ordered a Coke. First he gave me a glass with just ice and bread, then the Coke. After more than half an hour, I asked him to take my order, please, and he said he'd be right back. He kept walking in front of me with plates and a POS terminal and didn't stop. I asked another waiter if he could take my order, and he said it had to be him. So, patiently and politely, I said, "Excuse me." He listened and ignored me. I signaled to him again, and he indicated it was his colleague. I replied that one person was saying one thing, the other another, but please serve me. He turned away, ignoring me, and obviously I left. It's unfortunate; it's the first time in my life that I've left a place like this. I'd been there before, and a dark-skinned waiter, I think South American, served me well, but this person leaves much to be desired in his treatment and professionalism. I would never go back because of the embarrassment I went through.
I had a terrible experience. The waiter on duty made me wait over 30 minutes, throwing cutlery on the table. The food made up for it all. It feels very much like home-cooked food. It would be great if the waiters were more helpful and pleasant.
Disgraceful!! I went to lunch with some relatives who were here for tourism, and I wanted them to try homemade Spanish food. Two waiters were misogynistic, arrogant, racist, rude, and had absolutely no people skills. When we were served dessert, my mother commented that the cheesecake didn't look like it was made of cheese, and the waiter, raising his voice, told her she didn't know what she was talking about, that she should shut up and eat it like that. Is that any way to treat a customer? And to top it all off, the other waiter asked for the bill, which my mother paid, and he was able to get close to her to give her the credit card machine, which she could do because there was a passageway, and he left it in the middle of the table. This kind of thing only discredits Spanish culture and hospitality. What a disgraceful staff. Just because they've been working there all their lives doesn't give them the right to treat anyone so badly.
The beer was well-poured, but the bartenders were clever and added extra rounds/drinks to your bill. If you correct them, they'd tell you they were way overpriced, even though there were only four people in the bar. I felt like they were trying to trick me because they wouldn't accept being wrong, but they eventually gave in. Even so, we left with the feeling that you have to be on your toes to avoid being ripped off for a few euros, something I've only experienced in tourist-friendly places in the city center.
