The best restaurant experience we had during our trip to Austin was at Ember! Our server Brian and Chef Kang were amazing. Both were so nice and personable. We got the pleasure of sitting at the chef’s counter which was such a fun experience. All the food was phenomenal, the salpicon de pulpo and filet skewer were my favorites! I would recommend this place to anyone - we can’t wait to come back again!
My hubby and I ate at Ember during our babymoon, and it was such a great experience! The restaurant has the coolest atmosphere—modern, upbeat, and inviting. Our waitress, Bernice, was absolutely amazing: warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. She took the time to explain the menu and make thoughtful recommendations. For small bites, she suggested the salmon crudo and the tuna tartare, and both were outstanding. For our mains, my hubby got the ribeye and I ordered the whole fish, which was red snapper. Everything was absolutely delicious—the snapper was hands down the best fish I’ve ever had! Overall, we can’t say enough great things about Ember and its staff. We will definitely be back!
We absolutely love Ember! It is a pleasure to dine here! As soon as you walk in the door you can feel that the ambiance is set for the night and you’re greeted with a warm welcome. We were celebrating both my birthday and Valentine’s Day (one day early). Presley, the restaurant supervisor, greeted us with a warm welcome and made sure everything was perfect. Our server was very kind and made great suggestions. The food was delicious! Drinks were great! It is wonderful when you find a restaurant that serves food with flavor and soul…for us, it is Ember! P.S. We love the music they play! EMBER, you should have a night where you clear the tables and open it up for dancing!
We had an exceptional time at Ember Kitchen for a Valentine’s weekend date. It was so hard to pick from this menu because everything looked so good, but our extraordinary waitress Maddy helped us hone in on our choices. In addition to being knowledgeable of the menu’s offerings, she was knowledgable of how to help me navigate my food allergies and made sure I was kept safe. We ended up with the market fish crudo (which was hamachi that day, and I can never pass up hamachi), the short rib special, and the market fish which was an amazing halibut. Each dish was divine and it was the perfect amount of food for us. Our favorite dish was the halibut, it was perfectly sauced and so good. The atmosphere was cozy and special enough for a romantic date. My only small complaint would be that the seating in the lower section was a bit uncomfortable. We were sat in a corner booth and it was difficult to sit comfortably without being up in our neighboring table’s business.
Ember Kitchen was different. The experience came recommended from our server Amanda at the Guest House. She explained Ember was a sister restaurant and extremely delicious, it exceeded expectations. The flavors and spices were served, crafted into delicious plates, it was something special. You could instantly tell that it was something special and that they went next level. The mussels were incredible, spicy, but delicious. The halibut entree was so fresh, flavorful, and different from any previous fish entree I’ve ordered. The variety of “not your typical” apps or entrees was endless. I highly recommend this spot if you’re into mixology cocktails and a menu par from the usual. Good music, excellent service. Beautiful ambiance.
Ember absolutely blew me away. The short rib with polenta was hands-down the best meal I’ve ever had — melt-off-the-bone tender, rich, and perfectly balanced. Every bite was incredible. The food is on the pricier side, but it is 100% worth it for the quality and experience. My friend ordered a fish dish that was equally delicious and beautifully prepared. The staff was extremely attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere had such a great lounge vibe with music that made the whole evening feel special. The wine list is small but thoughtfully curated — we had the Malbec and it paired perfectly with dinner. I also really appreciated how gluten-free friendly the menu is — so refreshing to have so many options without feeling limited. We’ll absolutely be back. Ember is a gem.
From the service to the plate, Ember Kitchen is a must-visit. The crab cake appetizer was light yet flavorful, but the short ribs stole the show. They were savory, tender, and served over the dreamiest polenta. I loved the interactive element of choosing our own knives—it’s those little details that make the service here top-tier. Highly recommend!
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary together at Ember Kitchen, and it was truly one of the most unforgettable dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the entire team made us feel special. Our servers, Claire and Brian, were incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout the night. The rest of the staff was just as wonderful, welcoming, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. The food was absolutely phenomenal! easily one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor. It wasn’t just dinner; it was an experience. What made the evening even more meaningful was the personal touch. The staff surprised us with a handwritten card filled with sweet notes from the team congratulating us on 10 years together. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to us and made the night feel truly special. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate something important, or simply want an exceptional meal with exceptional service, Ember Kitchen delivers in every way. We’ll never forget our anniversary dinner there. ❤️
My wife surprised me with reservations here for my 40th birthday while we were in Austin for Valentine’s concerts. Our original reservation was for 7:30 on Monday, but since we wrapped up our day early, we called to see if we could come in sooner. They were incredibly accommodating and never once made us feel like an inconvenience — which honestly spoke volumes about who they are before we even walked through the door. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and excitement that we chose them for our celebration. Absolute class from start to finish. Maddie, the hostess, was exceptional — engaging, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. She graciously seated us outside, tucked away from the crowd under a clear night sky, which made the evening feel intimate and unforgettable. She made sure our drinks were started quickly, setting the tone for a perfect night. The cocktails were outstanding, and every appetizer & entree we ordered was phenomenal. Megan, our server, was attentive without hovering — anticipating what we needed before we even asked. Then the chef personally came out with a massive lobster tail and additional bites for us to try. That kind of touch doesn’t happen everywhere. It meant a lot. The churros was icing on the cake! They even gave us great recommendations for where to continue celebrating afterward. Ember Kitchen made my 40th birthday one I’ll never forget. If you’re in Austin and want an experience — not just a meal — this is the place
Amazing food!!!!! Great service, super cool concept. Had the bone in ribeye, crab cake, beef fat potatoes and broccolini. The flavor they got on the steak from the Josper was *chef's kiss*. Their take on a crab cake was super. And every fried potato I have for the rest of my life should be those potatoes. If you have the means or just want a special night out, Ember will not treat you wrong. Staff was really friendly too.
Celebrated our anniversary last night and Embers Kitchen did not disappoint! Cari our waitress was very attentive and made great recommendations, making our night extra special. The entire staff was attentive and congratulated us even if just walking by. The personalized anniversary card set the tone from the very beginning! The food was amazing and will certainly be back!
I can’t lie…. This was the best Latin restaurant I’ve been to. Their whole theme is “fire” - hence Ember: they tie fire into everything from cocktails to side dishes, main plates & desserts! We really enjoyed the cocktails: in lieu of sleep (espresso martini), paper wisdom & midnight of technicolor. The sides we chose were to die for- morita shrimp & the crispy beef fat potato’s and our main dishes were the filet mignon & the josper 1/2 chicken and we finished with the churros and the suspiro(the most fire inspired dessert!) I highly recommend sitting at the chefs counter - you can have the chance to meet chef Adam. Along with having our wonderful waiter- Collin! He was so thoughtful with his service and making sure we had the top Choices off the menu. We owe our amazing experience to Collin, he catered the best course to our tasting! Cheers! Come here
This was our first time at Embers Kitchen but they didn't disappoint. The food was phenomenal and our waitress was the best. Management checked on us a couple times. I was highly impressed with the flavor of all the food my wife and I had. They even offered us an exceptional dessert. You have to order the potatoes if you love potatoes 🥔. They were cooked to perfection.
We had a wonderful time at Ember celebrating my husbands birthday! Bernice did an outstanding job treating us like royalty, making his big day feel extra special! She really went above and beyond taking our picture and complimentary drinks and desserts! We loved the food and atmosphere. Only thing I would suggest is to turn down the music a little so we could hear eachother better!
We visited Austin for my birthday weekend and chose this restaurant for dinner. When I mentioned in the reservation notes that it was my birthday, the staff surprised me with a handwritten birthday card signed by everyone working that night. Such a thoughtful touch. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. If you are looking for an upscale, polished dining experience with genuinely great hospitality, I highly recommend this place.
I could rave about this place over and over. I came here with a gf for my bday and I was so happy with everything! I love my steaks super rare and they did it perfect. Everything from the coyote squash and sauces with our dishes are to be bragged about. The Salad was quite large and shareable. The fried plantains became our dessert bc we over ordered. Lol I can't wait to go back ❤️
We went here for our first wedding anniversary dinner and had the most special time seated at the chefs counter! We saw all the action first hands and our server (and future teacher!!) Colin went above and beyond to take care of us, we got a complimentary tasting plate (which was AMAZING) and some champagne, and the staff gave us a very thoughtful card with notes inside!! Coming to the food, for side plates we got the crab cakes, the shrimp, and the potatoes. The crab cakes literally melted in our mouth and the shrimp was flawless. We couldn’t finish the potatoes because we were bursting at the seams! For entrees, we got the off the menu short rib and it was falling off the bone; and so tender and so flavourful. My husband got the josper fish, and it was halibut for that day, and that was also delicious. We skipped dessert because we were just too full! We would highly recommend this place for amazing food and wonderful service!
I had the most perfect birthday dinner here a few months ago and my guests and I are STILL reminiscing about it so I had to come to write a review. There’s nothing negative to say about this place. The service was amazing, from the hosts to the servers. The ambience was dark and sexy. Their menu was perfect for sharing and everything we ordered blew the party away. We ordered several appetizers, with the Morita Shrimp and Crab Cake being standouts even months later, the Tomahawk, which I believe was a special at the time, the whole fish, and a couple of veggie sides. We also ordered a couple rounds of drink. At the end they brought me a surprise dessert which were the churros and those were also amazing. All in all, we had a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to go back!
I highly recommend this place. I enjoyed all the food. The place is beautiful inside and the customer service was good. But the lady that helped us made a huge mistake. She took her order for appetizers, delivered the appetizers and didn’t take our entrée order ever. At no point did we make it confusing to her that we weren’t gonna have dinner. So she just dropped off the appetizers and never came back. We tried to look for her for 10 minutes and she was busy with other tables, but we were sitting there finished with our appetizers for at least five minutes before we finally got her attention and asked her can we please order our entrées. So at that time we had to wait another 45 minutes because we ordered a tomahawk. Besides that all the food was perfect yet pricey. We spent about $800 for 4 of us.
I wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars. Everyone was wonderful from the moment I walked in. Grace, Chef Wallace, Kenzie and Maddie were the only staff members whose names I was able to catch. I am extremely impressed and happy that I stumbled upon this restaurant! Not only does it look pretty in the Google reviews; but, the layout is nice. It’s wonderful to have several different seating options depending on the dining experience you want to have. Moreover, the food is delicious as well as the quality of its presentation. My only gripe (which isn’t much of a complaint just a personal preference) is that I wish my steak was a little hotter on the plate. It wasn’t cold by any means but I would’ve preferred to have had it hotter? Also, even though they forgot my steak knife, the knife I used cut through the steak like BUTTER. Overall, truly enjoyed the flavors, the experience, ambience, and kindness I felt from the staff. I will return 😁
I had one of the best dining experiences here. Our server Megan was knowledgeable, attentive and outstanding; the service and recommendations were spot on and the staff in general were so hospitable! This is one of the best Latin restaurants. You can't go wrong with the Josper oven entrées.
Ember - best experience I’ve had at a restaurant in Austin so far. Sister restaurant - the guest house John - server : good vibe, knew the menu and cocktail pairings with the food. Top tier server. Kang - sous chef : very pleasant and explained menu items and backstory to his life before becoming a chef at this restaurant. Chef table - would highly recommend this you will find out about some secret food items :). Wildflower logic - cocktail : 5/5 CRISPY TANAL "AHOGADO" Sweet Potato, Goat Cheese, Pecan & Pepita Adobo Sauce. (quite a different tasting Starter dish) JOSPER PRAWNS - Red Chili Garlic Marinade, Saffron Rice, Herb Salad, Shell-On, Charred over Josper. (very very good) Crispy BEEF FAT POTATOES Yukon Gold, Red Bliss, Garlic, Shallot, Beef Tallow. (yum yum shareable plate full) Plantain Sundae - Fried Plantains, Strawberry & Cream, Panna Cotta, Chocolate Mousse, Candied Pecans, Whipped Cream. (be ready for a sugar rush)
Went here for dinner today, everything from start to finish was spectacular. Had the pleasure of being served by Claire and Colin, both of them were fantastic. The food was so delicious, I already have my next meal here picked out. Highly recommend the filet (either the full portion or the small bites as an appetizer). The potatoes are to die for. And the scallops were so tasty! I could have done without the carrots as they were a little too sweet for me personally. This is a more expensive restaurant but definitely worth the occasional night out! 10/10 would recommend. They also do an excellent job catering to food allergies. Everything we ordered was gluten free.
Went here for Sunday brunch with two friends, loved it! The vibe was super chill, perfect for a date or a small group. We got the Caviar Bites (on tortilla) and Burrata Bread to start, both delicious. For mains, we had the Steak & Eggs (that hot sauce was so good), Chorizo Hash, and Josper Chicken Salad (the chili lime kick was perfect). Everything was flavorful with a Latin twist. My friends, who had also came here for dinner, said their brunch is definitely better than dinner! Would definitely go back for brunch!
We went to Ember for my birthday and then our anniversary dinner. Both experiences were 10/10. The service is always amazing and they went above and beyond to treat us for the occasion. I love the drinks and the attention to detail for each ingredient. Although pricey, the food is worth the $$ We will continue to make reservations for special occasions as this is the best food I’ve had in Austin so far! Please enjoy the pictures of the food that we took during both visits.
We visited on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was about half full. They offer a 2-hour parking validation at a nearby garage, which we really appreciated — very convenient and thoughtful. Our dinner had some lovely moments. After we ordered our drinks, the team brought us a complimentary cocktail shot and pork rinds, which was such a fun and welcoming start to girls’ night. The drinks we ordered were okay, though the glasses were very sticky and had some stains on them, which took away from the experience a bit. Our food did take quite a while to come out, and because of that our dinner stretched past the 2-hour parking window. We ended up having to move our car in the middle of the meal, which was not ideal but we made it work. For food, we had the Morita Shrimp, the Josper Prawn with a lobster add-on, and the crispy beef-fat potatoes. The Josper Prawn was definitely the highlight — deliciously charred on the outside, juicy inside, and paired with lemon rice that gave it a bright, slightly Caribbean feel. The beef-fat potatoes were also very tasty and crispy. One downside: we were seated by the window near the entrance on a chilly Austin evening (around 40°F), and by the end of dinner we were feeling quite cold — and our food cooled quickly too. Not something I’d expect at a restaurant in this price range. I took one star off because the food is good, but some basic aspects of the experience still need to be better at this price point. Clean drinkware, smoother timing, and more comfortable seating are basic things we hoped would be more consistent.
Every single dish here was unique in its own way and had very sophisticated flavor profiles that fancy food tends to bring. This was one of the priciest restaurants I’ve visited, and I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered a Pisco Spritz as my drink to start, which wasn’t too sweet and had the right amount of citrus. For appetizers, the tartare was really good- the guac complemented the tuna very well. Also, the mussels were phenomenal. Standout main courses included the chicken- just wonderful. You gotta get the broccolini too. The fish was also very tasty. Service was great, and the dimmer lighting in the restaurant is nice and calming. My one disclaimer would be to not come here super hungry, because the food is quite light and the portions aren’t huge, but you probably already knew that coming into such a high end restaurant.
Is an amazing place for date night. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff had a card prepared for us. That was the sweetest thing ever. We went on time and they took us downstairs to their speakeasy and gave us a table. The server was there with water. Even though it was a busy night he took great care of us. The ember margarita was the highlight!! We ordered the buttery shrimp to start with. And for main course the grilled chicken and the potatoes. Food was fine. The sauce of the shrimp was delicious. The bread with it, i couldn't stop eating. Chicken was well cooked but was fine. Nothing extraordinary. Potatoes tastes nice like any other fried potatoes. For dessert we got the flan cake with berries. That was absolutely delicious. Definitely giving that a 5/5. It's a family recipe passed along the generations.
Had a lovely dinner at Ember Kitchen and really enjoyed the overall experience. We ordered a few signature dishes—Josper Halibut, Josper 1/2 Chicken, and started with the Morita Shrimp—all beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The ambiance was great, and the hostesses were super friendly and attentive. We did have to wait over 40 minutes past our reservation time, and while they mentioned we’d receive a complimentary comp for the delay, it never came. But the food and service still made the night enjoyable. Worth visiting for a special dinner in Austin.
We came here for brunch and the food was great in terms of ingredients and flavor. What was an issue was how long it took for us to get our food. The restaurant was not that packed and it took over an hour for us to get our entree. The music was also very loud for such a small establishment, the prices are also a bit too high for the atmosphere and service.
