Wonderfully authentic Spanish tapas and wine. Neighborhood has needed this so badly for so long -- so glad it's here!
Great restaurant and ambiance! The owner was so friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely coming back!
Wonderful!! Creative and delicious Tapas. Accessible and personable owner. We are fans !
OMG! Authentic tapas. Unbelievable flavors. If you want the real thing, come here! Delicious, truly.
Amazing gem on MamAve run by a Madrileno with serious skills.
Delicious! Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, will surely return!
Small, intimate setting with great food. Good date night spot.
My favorite restaurant in Mamaroneck. The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly.
Food is always delicious. Call ahead for a reservation!
Astonishing food made to order. Service is as expected as food is made to order.
Small plates, great to share. Try the paella.
Great ambience and atmosphere, fabulous food and lovely staff
Food was delicious. Brought me back to Madrid!
Food was good! The boquerones were my favorite.
Excellent food and sangrias. Thank you Carlos.
My favorite restaurant hands down. Get the octopus
The food has always been great!
Small place but great food
Everything is five stars here! Great Service!
Excellent. Authentic Spanish food.
Great authentic Spanish food.
Nice tapas bar in Mamaroneck!
Wonderful cozy atmosphere. Food was incredible and the Sangria was fabulous. Great food for the price. Recommend 100%.
Every bit as delicious, if not better, than what we enjoyed when we visited Spain. My wife and I highly recommend Carlos and his staff.
If you miss Madrid this is the place. Absolutely authentic top quality. Real gazpacho, pulpo ala gallego, gambas al ajillo etc. You could be eating at the Plaza Mayor except the quality is better.
Came for birthday dinner and everything was amazing. Great service and delicious food. Really good sangria and nice wine menu too! Definitely recommend!!
The best place in downtown Mamaroneck! The food is amazing, great welcoming service, unique flavors, and wonderful wine selection.
Chef was so personable! He came out and explained the menu to us on Valentine's Day! The food was absolutely delicious!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we tried. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic tapas
A close to perfect tapas bar. Great wines paired with even better food. Both offered at incredibly reasonable prices.
This place is awesome. The staff is very professional and the food is delicious! The place is like you are in Spain. Very satisfied with every single detail.
Every dish is delicious. The chef comes to every table. I hope they get the permits needed to add more tables so they can survive.
A trip right to Madrid - food was delicious and authentic! Highly recommended, and the service was the best
A reservation is a really good idea. They fill up ASAP. These plates are amazing.
Great food and welcoming staff. Nice authentic tapas and good wines. Highly recommend a visit.
The best tapas! I am dad is originally from Burgos España and this place feels like home 🤩
Having spent a fair amount of time in Madrid and Barcelona, I can tell you that the tapas here are fantastic. I was particulalry impressed with the chorizo iberico, the croquetas, the gambas al ajillo, the tortilla espanola, and the paella. Solid rioja to complement this meal that was moderately priced and represented excellent value. Great crema catalana to finish! I will be returning to see Chef/Owner, Carlos.
I LOVED this place and I will certainly be back. The customer service was excellent! The owner came out and spoke with us towards the end of our meal and he was extremely genuine and kind. The decor was gorgeous and the red sangria was excellent! Sadly I felt ill (not from the food or drinks) and had to leave early.
Food is wonderful if you like tapas I would highly recommend it. Staff was very nice and helpful. Owner came out and chatted with us and explained a lot of the items. Would definitely go back. Make a reservation though the place is small.
Best Spanish food and tapas in nyc area. Completely authentic and made to order the minutes before it’s served. It’s like you are in a fine home in Madrid or the south of Spain.
Really amazing ambiance, food, wine...everything! Update after yet another visit: this place is a no-miss. Even during the COVID pandemic they are doing their utmost to provide you with a unique and safe experience. The food, the sangria, the music, the service, the design all make you feel that you were tele-transported to Spain when entering through the door. How often do you see the Chef/Owner of a restaurant spend 10-15mins discussing with different patrons about his creations, his fresh supplies and his experiences?
Excellent meal! The shrimp was delicious, as well the octopus and chorizo. The chef was lovely and came over to the table multiple times. We will definitely be going back!
I am from Spain and this is by far the real deal for tapas! The staff and owner are so welcoming and the food is simply perfect. Excellent value for any night out with a true Spanish flavor.
The best Spanish restaurant I’ve ever been in New York. I’m from Spain and I was really looking for a good place to have real Spanish food. Jamón serrano is SO GOOD, the real one. Also, ensaladilla rusa and patatas bravas are delicious.
Have already been here twice and love it! The food is delicious and authentic and the staff is very friendly. Great for small groups (5-6 people)! I recommend making a reservation - space is small and demand is high! Can’t wait to go back :)
We’ve been to this place twice now and both times our food has been absolutely incredible. The service is impeccable and very friendly. The owner welcomes everyone and truly makes us feel appreciated. The food is great, especially the gambas al ajillo. I will definitely be back!
Delicious food and sangria. The owner and servers were all so sweet, and they made us feel very comfortable during covid. Love this place, will definitely come back.
Great place for conversation, food tastings, trying new things. Chef was so kind to come out and explain the dishes to us. Great kitchen to table experience.
Absolutely spectacular. I was in spain for 2 hours. Very authentic and delicious. A genuine experience with a reasonable sound level
Not only the dishes are delicious(we tried 6/7), but also the people serving and the owners are really kind and friendly. My wife and I will definitely come back!
The food here was amazing. Service super slow when we went, not sure if it was because of a crowd, understaffing, or what. Will definitely go back. Specials are limited quantities, we only had opportunity to try some of what was on the special menu.
Excellent Spanish food in a very small space. Friendly service.
The best restaurant in southern Westchester, probably all of WC. Everything on the menu is worth trying, you'll find most of the tapas are worth ordering again. Single chef in the back from Madrid that makes the rounds with the customers on the floor when most of the orders are fulfilled. Great experience and food. Reservations only, walk-ins are almost always turned away.
My husband is from Spain and I lived there for four years and we both agreed that this place is really authentic! We loved the food and cosy atmosphere. The wine was also really good and very reasonable. This is a real gem. The chef is from Madrid and was so friendly. We will be back many times.
You feel like you are in the heart of Madrid, when you sit down at Tentempie Madrid. This intimate eatery is a full-bodied experience, steeped in Spanish color and drenched in authentic flavors. A haven for Spanish cuisine, it's a dining destination that delivers an unrivaled gastronomic experience, for those who enjoy authentic Tapas. Carlos crafts his Tapas with an artisan's touch and a maestro's eye, ensuring that each guest's dining experience is both personal and memorable. The decor, suffused with warmth, complements the spirited palette of dishes served. It's the tapas, though, that are the prologue to the symphony of flavors that Tentempie orchestrates. Yet, it's the paella that claims the spotlight. A radiant dish, brimming with bold flavors, and meticulously prepared fresh to order. It's a culinary spectacle worth the wait, and that wait is indeed its own delicious journey. The interlude of 45 minutes offers an ample opportunity to explore the tapas menu. And then there's the wine list. Tentempie offers an unpretentious selection of reasonably priced fine wines from the Rioja region and beyond. Tentempie Madrid, with its delightful assortment of dishes, dedication to authenticity, and genuine warmth, is a must visit for an intimate unrushed dining experience. Make reservations though - it has limited hours of operation and it gets booked up by those who have found this hidden gem in Mamaroneck.
This is the most authentic Spanish restaurant I’ve been to outside of Spain, and my family is Spanish. It’s worth a visit from out of town. Carlos, the owner/bartender/server/busser/chef really takes a lot of pride in his restaurant. This place is truly special.
My boyfriend and I decided to stop in here on a Sunday night because we were in the mood for tapas. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was great! On top of that, the owner was super kind and gave us some basil to take home from his many basil plants outside the restaurant. I know this place has been impacted by Covid, but I hope it is able to be successful!! We will definitely return.
Came to this restaurant for the first time on a Friday evening with my husband. Was welcomed by a very friendly young lady who showed us to our table. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food feels personal and homey, as if you are in the chefs home. To top it off, the chef came out and personally thanked each table for coming. It is his dream to open an authentic restaurant and his dream became a reality in a beautiful way! We will absolutely be back. Support local business- Everything was delicious!!!!! Thank you!
By far the best restaurant in the area. Authentic Spanish tapas that will take you (back) to Spain. The owners are simply wonderful, industrious and friendly. Check it out as you'll wonder why you waited so long!!!!
The best tapas restaurant in the area! Authentic food, you can taste the Spain flavor and freshness each plate. Nice ambient and the attention is amazing. The restaurante running from his owner and chef gives you the felling as each tapa is Unique for you! Good wines and the best estrella Galicia beer from Spain! I will definitely will come back to many times!
Fantastic food and atmosphere, the chorizo is delicious!
As a Spaniard I find this is a Westchester little gem that provides some of the best authentic Spanish food I’ve had in New York. Highly recommend it to all Spanish food enthusiasts.
Our experience in Madrid Temtempie was wonderful. Peaceful and intimate space. I truly recommend the croquetas, cheese board and iberico meats. Amazing!!!
Fantastic restaurant. Totally authentic Spanish food. Kind owner and staff, nice ambience (although they could lower the lights just a tad!), and the food is just outstanding. Incredible value as well. Love Tentempie , a real gem.
Tentempié Madrid is a gem in Mamaroneck. It’s cozy and intimate, with only about five or six tables. The owner runs the front of house while his wife cooks in the kitchen, and together they create an experience that feels personal, warm, and authentically Spanish. The food was phenomenal. We shared a mixed cheese and meat board to start. Then came the ham croquetas (the flavor changes daily, and we lucked out with my favorite), mini albóndigas (tender beef meatballs in tomato sauce) and champiñones (mushrooms in a rich brandy sauce). Every dish was flavorful and felt homemade. For dessert, we had the Torta de Santiago (almond cake), which was the special of the day — light, nutty, and the perfect finish. The service was amazing. If you’re looking for authentic Spanish tapas, this place is a must-try.
Authentic Spanish restaurant from Madrid! Great tapas and you won't leave hungry! Everything is great, but go for the recommendation of the owner when you order your tapas. Get a pitcher of sangria, it's authentic not too sweet. The owner gives a personal treatment and the place is not big and fills up quickly. There is hardly a chance for a walk-in. Reserve your spot ahead of time, it's worth it!
Absolutely fantastic. We’re from Spain. The food is authentic and delicious. The best tortilla de patata and gambas al ajillo❣️ Tortilla de patata is better than Casa Dani in Madrid. It’s high quality comfort food with a touch of finesse and expertise. We found our home away from home. 🏠 Thank you Carlos.
Great tapas restaurant in Mamaroneck. Place is TINY, so definitely make a reservation. My bf and I walked in right when they opened on a Saturday and they sat us, but were very upfront that they needed the table back in an hour/hour and a half for a resy - which was totally fine, we were happy to be sat. Staff was friendly, we got a kick out of the owner.
Where do I begin?!!! I have been trying to get a reservation at Tentempie Madrid & finally received my call for a table... The Owner Carlos called to discuss his availabilities and mentioned that Tentempie Madrid is a traditional tapas with only small plates, NO MAIN COURSE and house wines and beer... Loved the call, perfect table for two at 7:30! My boyfriend and I were greeted by the Owners wife, and seated right away... She was just as lovely! What a great duo!! My boyfriend & I could be wrong BUT they seemed to be the only two running the magic over there... And they do it very very well!!!!! What a treat we were in for!!! FOOD: 5 STARS! We started off with drinks, we were unsure of which wine or beer to go with and Carlos's wife had no problems letting us taste them so we enjoyed what we ordered... LOVED THAT!!! There were so many choices... After we made our decision we put ourselves in the mindset to sit back relax & not RUSH.... Seems like (well i'll speak for myself as an American) we RUSH through everything... For food we did order the paella (made to order and takes about 55 minutes) again NO RUSHING, enjoy your wine, tapas in between, & your company.... Every dish we ordered, the flavors just took us right to Spain! We had the Jamon Iberico (order that!) the SHRIMP!!!! I'm still thinking about it, and every other dish!!!!! SERVICE: 5 STARS! Top notch!!! She didn't skip a beat with us or any other table for that matter! Very impressive ATMOSPHERE: 5 STARS! Small intimate piece of gold! Barrel high-tops and a few tables... The bathroom was spotless, that's a thing for me... After dinner service was complete, Carlos who is also the Chef checked in with every table with his lovey wife and offered us a traditional house after tapas drink (i can not remember the name, but it was so good!) Also, I did ask the Owner her name... It was a very beautiful name that I have a hard time pronouncing and unsure how to spell. (my apologies that I keep referring to her as "she") Thank you guys for such an unforgettable night.
Tentempie Madrid is a wonderful place where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Madrid. You will be met by the owner of the bar, his name is Carlos. Carlos prepares special meals for you. The interior of the walls is decorated with tiles from Cordoba, like many other decorative elements. Surprisingly, this bar does not make a profit on wine, the wines on the wine list at a bottle price of $30 and I higher in the store have a similar price. The wine list includes the best wines from the Rioja region, Spain. Highly recommend. And music. Wonderful authentic Spanish music in the background.❤️
I have a new favorite restaurant! Out of pure happenstance I ended up at this lovely restaurant and it was a transformative experience. Carlos the owner helped guide us on a wonderful unforgettable culinary adventure that was both eye opening and a delightful sensory trip. There were fantastic aged meats and cheeses from Spain unlike any I've ever had. Tender fresh pulpo that almost melts in your mouth. Croquetas that you'll never forget. Many others! You owe it to yourself to try this fantastic authentic culinary taste of real tapas cuisine from Spain and leave all the counterfeit tapas alone!
Such a perfect dinner - from the welcoming and intimate space to the curated flavorful plates - this is a must go in Westchester.
Food was beyond amazing! Service was great, the owner is very friendly. We couldn’t decide which one was our favorite dish because everything was delicious. Definitely coming back
I visited Tentempié about two months ago and had an amazing experience! The food is authentic and so tasty. We ordered patatas bravas, gambas al ajillo, pan con tomate, a salad (which was simple but sooo delicious) and a special they had of chorizo and chicken skewers. I got a pineapple sangria, which was to die for, and my friend had a red sangria, which she enjoyed! The chef also came out to see how we were enjoying everything, which was so thoughtful. Can't wait to go back soon!

The ambiance and just culture around tapas. This place to find it all.I was really happy with the service and food
Nice atmosphere, great service, superb dishes! They have Mocktails, I don't drink much so I find that very nice. I loved their Risotto with Shrimp and Scallops. Their mussels were awesome as an appetizer. Their Tiramiso was delicious. I can truly recommend it!
We stopped at this lovely little tapas bar after catching a film across the street. Featuring a menu full of crowd favorites, it was the quality ingredients that elevated every dish we tried. They also have an excellent, if small, collection of Spanish wines. But why Tentempie gets five stars is how obvious a passion project this is. The chef/owner went out of his way to share insights on each dish and to make sure each table was having a blast. It made you feel like you were sharing a meal in his home kitchen. And that feeling is worth revisiting.
First time visit and most definitely will return. Have already sent two sets of friends… The food was fantastic and this is my kind of setting: small, intimate but not pretentious or fancy. Chef is a star and recommended the perfect plates and a great wine as well. The garlicky shrimp, patatas bravas and the tortilla espanola…table favorites. Next time we will make time for the paella.
This was by far the best experience I had in some time. I love the small very intimate setting. I recommend calling ahead for a booking or you will be disappointed.
Best authentic Spanish Tapas I've had on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Very tasty and well prepared dishes with a nice Spanish wine list all very reasonably priced. Its a very small place so definitely call ahead for a reservation especially on the weekend. Really enjoyed and will definitely be back.
This cozy restaurant is the best Spanish Restaurant that I’ve been to in the US. I’m from Madrid, my standards for cuisine from Spain are very high and this is definitely the best place in NY-CT area. Much better than Barcelona and Basque Tapas Bar.
One of my favorite restaurants ever - menu always has specials which are incredible. Carlos (owner /chef) truly loves what he does and you can see that in his food. Book ahead- it gets very busy (because it is awesome). There are some reviews here regarding being turned away because of race- I have never experienced this and have been to the restaurant with friends who are black. Carlos has always been a great host and has gone above and beyond to ensure we are enjoying our meal and experience. Definitely check this restaurant out - authentic food and wonderful !

Small, intimate and great service and food. Definitely make reservations because it is a small place. Good wine list too! Will definitely be back.
Very nice tapas in a family run setting. I'm a fan
Great ambiance, service and typical Spanish tapas
I came here for a few tapas and some wine and couldn’t believe I had not been. The food was close to what you have in Spain, and the service was amazing.
I have been to this place a few times only when outdoor seating is available, the indoor area is crammed and you can hear what everyone is saying. But let’s move on. The food is great but the rigidity and inflexibility of the owners is off putting, they have no idea of what customer service is. I was walking back from work and I saw the outdoor tables available so I figured I’d stop by and have a quick bite (that’s their menu) but the owner quickly ran over to me to block me like a security guard and said he will not be serving food at the outdoor table, this time because of the rain?! At some point I did not know what he was talking about. All outdoor dining of the hundreds of restaurants on the avenue were full. Of course It was not raining, the rain was not expected until after 10pm when the place would be closed. Some manners in treating people would be very helpful
Authentic-looking food on a nice ambiance, but unfortunately very confused service staff, leading to our meats and cheese board taking 25 minutes to make (after an attempt of delivering a meat board instead, which we of course sent back and we believe they gave to another customer instead. Strange move on Covid times). After both the wine and the warm tapas we wanted were sold out, and with the mishaps on the service, we asked for the check and completed our dinner elsewhere. To their credit, they then realized their mistakes and comped our meal, which was a nice gesture. Overall, not terrible, but not the experience we were hoping for.
I'm torn writing this review because the food is fantastic - authentic and thoughtful cuisine. We were early patrons of this restaurant and so excited about their opening. This was our favorite spot and supported during COVID. Loved it so much that we were eager to take family here when visiting for first time as a pride of our town. We were a manageable party of 3, earliest reservation we could get. Having a great evening, but noticing newly hired staff (additions from our familiar staff of 2 chef and server) that seemed out of step and service was unusually slow and confused. No worries! So we ordered another bottle of wine and patiently waited for our last dish to arrive (we had been there for well over an hr and we much prefer to be in and out asap in general). In walks chef, and after some irritated discussion with staff approached our table, poured us the rest of our bottle, while not so subtly explaining to us that in order for him to make money he has to turn tables over in a timely manner...suggesting that we were overstaying our welcome...despite the fact that we were STILL waiting for our last dish to arrive. It was unbelievably rude and frankly embarrassing for us as we had talked this place up for months to friends/family. Couldn't bring ourselves to go back. We truly wish this place the best, but hope they will learn and grow from our unfortunate experience.

My boyfriend and I were super excited to try this place as we just moved around the corner. First I’ll say that the food is super yummy. I have never wrote a review because I work in the service industry but I could not believe how rude the owner was to us, I was shocked. My boyfriend is Hispanic and is super friendly to waiters and likes to engage/joke unfortunately that was not happening last night. Not only did the waiter give us attitude when we asked for a pitcher of sangria but he would not even look us in the eyes while we were ordering our food, quickly writing it down I said maybe he’s just stressed giving him an excuse. Two other parties than walked in (white) which he then proceeded to be super friendly and was telling them what was the house special (which he did not mention to us). I nicely said to him I just overheard you telling them the special would you mind repeating it for us and he rolled his eyes proceeded to say it and gives me a face like are you going to order it and my boyfriend just said awkwardly we just wanted to hear it and he walked away. Another family walks in and they were Hispanic which I saw being treated just like us not being walked over to, waiting to be ordered for awhile, and just super quick looking down responses. We were so excited after just being in Spain to find this place but sadly we will not be coming back after that experience!
Not family friendly. Turned 2+toddler away for no reservation but sat a table of 3 with no reservation immediately after us.
Got turned away because I’m black? literally no one was sitting there and no one was there an hour later.
Don't waste your time coming here. Very poor service. Not willing to accommodate a family of 3.
The owner and staff are quite unfriendly. On multiple occasions, I’ve tried to visit the restaurant right after it opens, only to be turned away each time.
Typical Spanish attitude: restaurant closes at 10:00pm, but the kitchen is closed at 9:20pm. Unos campeones! Looking at the mediocre menu, not a big loss.
Unfortunately I can’t speak to the food or atmosphere as my family was turned away at the door when they opened at 6pm. The hostess partially opened the locked door to ask if she “could help us with anything” and then said no entry to their empty restaurant without a reservation. Walked by again after dinner at Frankie and Fanucci’s (around 7) to see two couples eating. I don’t understand but it made me sad. I had looked forward to eating there all week. I guess my advice is to make a reservation to be considered for entry. They could have been much kinder :(
I can’t speak for the food because we were turned away at the door. It appears that this restaurant turns away black and Asian people, or groups with children; really unfortunate. I guess if you’re outside of those categories, youre good; lucky you. If not, sorry.
My partner and I come to this restaurant every year for his birthday because it is one of his favorites. The food is consistently excellent and truly top-notch, but unfortunately the service is not. I hesitated to write this review, but after our most recent visit, I feel I need to share our experience so others are aware. Each time we have dined here, the owner has treated us noticeably differently from other guests. While he greets surrounding tables warmly, he is consistently curt and dismissive toward us. During our first visit, I politely asked if we could change tables, and he rolled his eyes and acted visibly annoyed, to the point that another couple nearby commented on it. After seating us, he rushed through our order and then spent the rest of the evening focusing on other tables. When we asked for a water refill, he ignored our request while refilling other tables without being asked. I am not sure if this treatment stems from that initial table request or something else, but as a Hispanic woman, it is difficult to ignore the pattern, especially after seeing similar comments from other Hispanic patrons in this review section. When I returned recently with family and friends, the behavior was the same. He avoided our table while giving extra attention to others who appeared wealthier or whiter. I do not want to make assumptions, but the difference in treatment was very clear. The final straw came when he took a photo for another table, accidentally bumped into one of my family members, and instead of apologizing, gave us an annoyed look as if we were in his way. To be clear, this review is not meant to discourage people from eating here. The food remains outstanding and is the only reason we have returned despite the poor service. However, I think future guests deserve to know that the dining experience can be overshadowed by unprofessional and, at times, discriminatory behavior. Again, I do not want to make assumptions, but the Spanish are not necessarily known for their tolerance and acceptance toward different racial groups. Even my partner, who has lived in Spain and understands the cultural nuances of dining there, agreed that the owner’s attitude was unnecessarily rude. The restaurant would truly benefit from having someone else handle the front of house if the owner cannot provide all customers with the same respect and warmth. In short: phenomenal food, deeply disappointing service.
