I don't usually seek out burritos in mountain towns but this place came highly recommended for breakfast burritos from a friend. Did not disappoint with the chorizo. Also the coffee has a nice surprise if you like cinnamon. To top it off the staff is friendly and very helpful, hard to find these days.

My food was excellent. It is more of a take out place with some small tables. The salsas are very good. I had a carnitas burrito. Very good. Five stars for being very good food and excellent for what it is. I noticed it was full of locals, which says something for value and quality. I am not local, but spend time around Mammoth from time to time.

Brian Anderson

Probably the largest plate of nachos I've ever had. My wife and I couldn't finish them!

Looking for something quick and easy. A little crowded waiting to order and pick up food, but great place get takeout. Food was tasty. Looking forward to my next visit.

Over July 4th week we ate lunch once and dinner once. Delicious tacos served with generous amounts of fresh cilantro, grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño. Big salsa bar with fresh pico de gallo and salsa verde. We had chicken tacos, carnitas and al pastor tacos. All delicious. Very casual place and bottled beer served.

J

Okay now all I can say, is that I ordered the three enchiladas dinner combo they had advertised for 13.77 and it included rice, beans, and an iced drink. We ordered to go and I went back to that to-go container three times even though I was full after the first visit... that delicious enchilada smell kept me going back until I finished it. If I go back to Mammoth Mountain I'm eating at this place again absolutely no question about it. I paid 15 dollars for a meal I'll remember for years to come...

Stopped by on our way back down to OC, and did not regret it. The chicken burrito was fresh and delicious! The place is quaint/casual, space for a few parties of 6-8 people, prices were good, and service was quick and friendly.

So far the best Mexican food in Mammoth! The fish tacos are amazing. Sorry, I might have taken a bite of that taco before the picture. It was that good.

Best taco shop in town. Food is seasoned perfectly and the portions are generous.

Great Mexican Food! The food is fast and fresh! I took the recommendation of the cashier and ordered the Birras. I was quite impressed that she asked me if I liked greasy food because it was a little greasy. I said I didn’t like greasy food and she said “no problem, we will make it not greasy”. It was cooked perfect and so delicious. My son had the wet California burrito with green sauce and he loved it! I’ll be sure to stop in the next time I travel through the High Sierras.

If you’re craving authentic Mexican food then this is the place! They had a steady crowd for dinner. We had the carne asada fries, carne asada tacos with rice/beans plate & carnitas tacos which I’ve had plenty of times to know these were on the bland side but nothing some salsa can’t fix. Service is good… I’d say we waited about 6-7 minutes for our food. Must have Horchata drink is amazing! Things to know: order food at counter, plenty of inside and outside seating available, crazy-good salsa bar, free fountain drink refills & plenty of parking.

Great California burrito. You can really taste the quality of the asada in each bite too

Went to this restaurant at random while in Mammoth. It is your typical “taco shop”, but their food is anything but typical. We ordered a carne asada quesadilla and the two taco (el pastor) plate. Besides being delicious, the amount of food, specifically the meat portions, were huge. We were not left wanting from this meal. We’ll definitely be visiting this establishment again in the future.

I normally just get the burritos here, but yesterday we tried the Camarones a la Diabla and it was very tasty - sweet and spicy. Will definitely have again.

K

Fast and delicious, had to ask for more from counter service. The tripe and cabeza were particularly good!

Service is great. Food is delicious. Been coming to Mammoth Lakes for over 30 years so we got to enjoy Salsa's Taqueria since they opened. Highly recommend.... Our favorite go to spot! Dining indoors or outdoors so you choose! Doesn't hurt to try it, no regrets for us! We dine there and also take home and always yummy.

Been meaning to go here for a long time (we usually eat at El Charro), and finally did today, Being a Tuesday, we got the taco special (3 tacos, chips, and a drink). I got pollo, carne asada, and carnitas. They were all delicious! They were also very filling. I only finished my meal because it was so tasty as I was full after the 2nd taco. Highly recommended.

Authentic delicious Mexican food. We came here on a Monday morning for breakfast. I order 3 tacos (1 lengua, 1 carne asada, 1 tripas). My husband and son ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. My other son ordered the California burrito. And my friend and her daughter ordered the bean, rice and cheese burrito. We were all very happy with our food and the prices are very reasonable. The burritos are big. They have a variety of salsas to choose from. The have mild to very spicy salsa. They were all very tasty. This is definitely one of the restaurants we will be coming back to.

Great little Mexican restaurant! While they have only five tables for inside seating, there are some tables outside as well. I've enjoyed almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Friendly staff, very good food, an experience not to be missed!

Fantastic breakfast burrito, which comes with coffee. Salsa bar was very good, with well made salsas and hot carrots. Small dining room, and lots of canopy covered outdoor picnic tables. Single stall bathroom.

We came up to visit our daughter and she suggested this place. This was fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito. So much flavor. The entire time we were here they had nonstop business. Great hidden gem. We will be back soon.

Best birra ever. The beans were perfect in consistency and flavor, just the right amount of salt. They had a line out the door but hustled to get everyone served quickly. Impressive. But please clean that bathroom.

This restaurant is like so many eateries in Mammoth; it's fine. I like grabbing a breakfast burrito here before a long day in the mountains. Although food is just fine, this restaurant is never overrun by hordes of tourists, which is very nice. An added bonus- outdoor seating.

The alpine mountain country of Mammoth Lakes and Mexican cuisine isn't something that easily rolls off your tongue, and in fact, it's almost an awkward mismatch. But, who cares? On an overnight stop at Mammoth Lakes, I found this gem of a place in town. I wasn't that hungry, but I just needed to top off my tank and I ordered the fish taco here. Man, that hit the spot, it was delicious. My only criticism of this place is that the fish content was stingy. Given that, I ordered another taco, this time carnitas and that was also delicious. Again, their portions are small, but maybe because I am out of San Francisco where Mexican joints are plentiful, perhaps my expectations are different? Bottom line is, the food was excellent even if it lacks in generosity.

Really great bites! Service was fast and the selection was pretty big to feed all likes. We had a birria taco special, torta al pastor, green chile pork burrito. Horchata was really good. Their salsas are really good and spicy.

Great little spot in Mammoth. The service was fast and friendly. I had been planning on going here for quite some time. My wife had the bean and cheese burrito and I had fish and shrimp tacos. Everything was tasty and fresh. Can't wait to go back again.

Good Breakfast burrito. Came with crispy tater tots and was hot. Enchiladas with chicken were wayy too salty.

Authentic Mexican restaurant. Ordered the fish tacos and the taquito combo plate. Everything was delicious and the best fish tacos I've had. However I was a little disappointed that the prices have gone up quite a bit compared to what is posted online. But none the less still a good place to eat and still one of the cheapest in town. Highly recommend trying it if you're in the mood for some great authentic Mexican food.

I've been here twice. The first time was fantastic, even though it's expensive, and the burritos were massive!! The second time I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and quesadilla and was charged for the regular size but pretty sure we got the kids size.

We had dinner here on October 13. The food was delicious, but I’m not sure I’d return. Behind the counter staff were not welcoming and spent most of the time, not just for us, but also for subsequent patrons, laughing and chatting amongst themselves. At one point, while we were eating, I heard some patrons who were placing their order ask what the joke was about so I know it wasn’t just our experience.

A
Abhishek Kumar

Meh... had the American style burrito which seems to be like a Super Burrito by Bay Area standards. It was pretty disappointing. Mostly lettuce. The only saving grace for this place is their salsa bar

M
Maxim Dahan

Food was pretty good, but we called about 30 minutes before heading over to see if there would be space for 8 and all the *very helpful* cashier said was "Sometimes we're busy, sometimes we're not." We arrived and were the only the ones in the restaurant. Also, if you get Birria tacos make sure to get the $6 ones or else they won't give you dipping sauce.

D
David “Lentil” Pk

Got carne asada nachos and carnitas burrito. Both were okay- bland. Green mild sauce was sweet- bleh. Chipotle avocado salsa was good. To ne fair, I'm from San Diego, so I have a high standard for Mexican food. Won't go back.

I ate there last week and the amount of meat I got in the food was very minimal. And the price was about $35 dollars for 2 tacos and a coke? Food was cold as well (other that the meat). I would not recommend this place.

The prices are out of control. We ordered 6 very small Canada tacos Side of rice an order of FF And a chile verde burrito 64.35 The burrito had no verde sauce and a hard old flour tortilla. The women behind the counter ask one customer if his change was a tip He told her no

This is the only place my daughter and girlfriend ate today and they now both have food poisoning. And it’s not pretty. Plus the staff seemed very irritated. With how long it took for them to order.

Got diarrhea. Ordered carne asada plate $17, got some pieces of red corned beef on plastic plate. Carne asada is $25 in other Mexican place but this one is not worth 1/3, no wonder nobody was there.

C

I spent 48$ On 2 Cali burritos and 2 horchatas. The Cali burritos are tiny! What the heck is this????? Cold as well…. Go to Latin market. This kinda swindling dosnt happen there!

M
Monica Fisher

The staff here was friendly, but that is about the only good thing about Salsa's. Maybe I've been spoiled with Mexican food given where I live (Mission District, SF) but the food here just isn't good. It came super fast, which was a big red flag to me. Everything on my enchilada plate was room temperature, if that. It was hard to eat especially since the cheese in the enchilada wasn't even close to the melty goodness I expect. The flavor was okay, but it didn't make up for the overall presentation of the meal. The seating area was clean but the area behind the counter where they were "making" the food was pretty filthy looking. Don't be fooled by the business of this restaurant, it doesn't indicate quality.

K

Don’t go to this place order a Shrimp cocktail and it was horrible. My Jamaica juice taste like it had been there for weeks this is going straight to my sink. I’m gonna report them to the health department.

VERY overpriced. 2 cold asada Tacos, chips, and a coke cost me $36 bucks. The tacos had very little meat and the tacos were cold. It was not a good meal. I had some OK meals here in the past but I am not going back if I have a choice. Cost too much for poor quality food.

The WORST breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. Got a veggie breakfast burrito and there were pieces of meat in it! There wasn’t a trace of potato. So much watery eggs and a mound of tomato. It was so gross I couldn’t even eat it. Super unfortunate :(
