My visit to Brick Vault BBQ in Marathon, Texas was a true highlight of the day. I stopped in during the early afternoon and enjoyed a delicious, generous portion of authentic Texas BBQ brisket — smoky, tender, and packed with flavor exactly the way great Texas barbecue should be. With a fresh lemonade in hand, I headed out for a relaxing walk around town, taking in the charm of Marathon and capturing photographs along the way. After a full day of sightseeing and exploring, I returned to Brick Vault BBQ to unwind and enjoyed one of the best margaritas I’ve had — the perfect way to end the evening. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and true West Texas hospitality make Brick Vault BBQ a must-stop for anyone visiting Marathon. #TravelWithRolando #AdventuresWithBella #BrickVaultBBQ #MarathonTexas #TexasBBQ #WestTexasTravel #LocalGuide

BBQ was on point, elote was insane. The brewer here is an absolute magician, beers are all 10/10. We enjoyed the patio and they brought my pet black bear a bowl of water

Great atmosphere, friendly and professional staff and just real good bar b-q. I got a three meat and it was plenty. Portion size for meat was just right and the sides are tasty. The craft beer was delicious as well. I highly recommend and I will be coming back. Great job guys.

Just had lunch here and this is some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. Awesome atmosphere and nice staff, incredible food, fair price, all around great meal!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Brick Vault. Tons of flavor across the board as far as the smoked meats go (I didn’t get any sides). I also tried one of their in-house light lagers and it was crisp and refreshing. It’s about 55 miles down the road for us, but it’ll be a regular stop from now on. Make sure to make the stop if you’re around!

If you've done your research you'll know this place is a definite stop. The BBQ is some of the best in Texas. Hands down.

Very good BBQ. Reasonable prices. Nice merchandise. Within 100 yards of Gage Hotel. Worth the trip to Marathon. We ordered turkey, brisket, elote, potato salad, macaroni & cheese plus cole slaw. We liked everything!

Stopped here on a whim heading into Big Bend and were blown away! I had a fantastic Oktoberfest, and my wife and I shared a delicious BBQ platter. Portions were very generous and the food was fantastic. Would especially recommend the brisket.

Excellent BBQ and brewery spot! Brisket was perfect and the Mac n cheese side was awesome. Beers on tap were great and the price per beer is exceptionally reasonable. Highly recommend this place.

Not Cheap but worth every penny. I had the 2 meat and was recommended the sausage and brisket, both excellent. My wife had the 1 meat ribs with Elote and mac n cheese for her 2 sides, I went classic cole slaw and potato salad and all the sides were excellent. Just stopped passing through and with we could eat here again.

First of all, i got into town on a Monday and to my surprise it was closed. They open on Thursday. So I had to wait to get my BBQ on. It's totally worth the wait. Everything was very good and tasty. I do feel the prices could have been a little more reasonable on the sides and dessert. Spent $56 for 2 ppl, in hindsight, I should have just bought the meat and took it back to the camper that way, I could make it last longer. Great laid back atmosphere, everyone was friendly.

Excellent food and lovely vibe. Stopped off for a quick lunch driving back from Big Bend and so glad we did! We had the sausage, pulled pork, brisket and ribs and sides of beans, elote, potato salad and mac n cheese. All tasty, highlights were the pulled pork, brisket and elote. Looked like a great selection of beers although we didn’t sample as driving. Sat outside in the courtyard which was lovely and had tables in sun and in shade. Recommend!

A bit out of the way, but worth it! This is a brewery and BBQ joint. It's a nice concept, but with a smaller establishment I didn't feel it worked. Bbq joints often are trying to get people in and out quickly due to crowds, while bars/breweries try to keep people in longer. This place is on the smaller side, and when we arrived there were a lot of people there to drink with very few tables to eat at. Outside seating is available, but with the high winds and dust that day it wasn't feasible. Food - family and I had the brisket, regular sausage, turkey, brown sugar glazed carrots and green Chile Mac and cheese. All of it was fantastic. Those carrots were amazing. We ordered a to-go cup. I felt the brisket was lacking some seasoning that day, but I won't hold it against them. It happens. Won't fault them.

Wow, everything about this place was great! It was my first time and the employees were really nice and helped me through the menu that each meat in the “combo” section weighs to about 1/4 pound. So, I got a 3 meat + 2 sides with 1/2 brisket and 1/4 jalapeno cheese sausage with some elote and green cabbage slaw. Excellent service and excellent food with amazing BBQ. I’m from Austin but I will definitely drive down here again just to eat from here one more time! P.S. the peach cobbler with ice cream is also DIVINE!

Oh yeah! Not to be missed! Succulent brisket, ever-so-tender ribs, unique wellmade sides and dynamite jalapeño cheddar sausage. Everything is house made including the peach cobbler with vanilla ice-cream. Decent home brew beer but everything on the sweet side. A nice IPA would be a welcome addition. All in all hats off to the chefs working away in their back alley, screened in smokehouse . Bravo!

Super cute small town BBQ joint. Brick Vault has a great selection of mouthwatering BBQ!! The brisket was tender and juicy. The turkey breast was tender and flavorful. Homemade pickled pickles and onions 😋 You can order BBQ sandwiches or meat plates. We ordered a Vaquero ( brisket, pickled onions and jalapeño sausage) , sliced brisket and a chopped brisket sandwich, a turkey plate with homemade potato salad and mac & cheese. The sandwiches were delicious and good portions. They have indoor seating , a full bar and an outdoor patio. We were fortunate enough to have great weather , eat good BBQ while listening to live music.

We got there about 2pm and the brisket was gone baby gone ! So get there early if brisket is a must. The wings were fantastic and so was the sausage. The beer was on point ! The Brewer knows what's up. The vibe was really chill with indoor and outdoor seating. We absolutely will be back and highly recommend a visit to this wonderful joint !

My wife and I stopped here because we are always looking for local breweries wherever we visit. We had just left Big Bend National Park and a cold beer sounded great. Just happened to try the barbecue while we were there, but the real reason that we were there was for the brews. The barbecue was average. I will definitely go back for more beer.

We were staying in Marathon and decided to eat here (there aren't many options). Service was good, and the brisket was good, if a tad dry. Nice restaurant. Great patio.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Visited Brick Vault Brewery and Barbecue in Marathon, Texas this past weekend, and overall it’s a solid stop—especially considering how remote the location is. The brisket was quite good—well cooked with solid flavor. The turkey was also nicely done and moist. Pulled pork was decent and enjoyable. We tried several sides as well: the mac and cheese with green chile was okay but could benefit from more sharpness in the cheese or a little more pop from the chile. The green beans were very basic, served with mushrooms—fine, but nothing memorable. We also sampled the sausage, which had good flavor but leaned a bit dry. I had a couple of their house beers. One of their Kölsch-style beers was clean, simple, and well-balanced with a nice body—very drinkable. I also tried their Vienna lager, which wasn’t quite my preference; it leaned a little too malty for my taste, though others may enjoy that style. Atmosphere-wise, it’s a cool, casual spot—perfect for lunch or an early dinner. Pricing is very reasonable, especially for barbecue in such a remote West Texas location. Overall, it’s a place I’d recommend stopping into if you’re passing through Marathon or using the area as a base for Big Bend. Not life-changing barbecue, but solid execution, fair prices, and worth the visit!!!

The Brisket was a little dry and I could not taste the green chilies in the Mac & cheese. Overall the pulled pork was fantastic as was the jalapeno cheddar sausage. Not to mention the Cole slaw and potato salad were delicious. Great experience. Great atmosphere

Crazy hard hours, but the food is pretty darn good as are the folks working there. Got there about 15 minutes before opening and decided to stand in line once people started showing up. I was maybe #3 out of a couple dozen, but by the time we were finished eating - no line! So the pro-tip is to just come a 1/2 hour after opening. There's not a lot of lunch options around, so that likely makes it more popular. In a busy season (we were in mid-February), no big deal. Make adjustments if you have arrived in a heavy holiday season. I had the Vaquero sandwich. I didn't want to eat a ton, just sample. It was a great tasting sandwich. It had brisket and a jalapeno sausage. The brisket was good, solidly the reason Texas Monthly gave them an Honerable Mention (high praise) but I liked the Jalapeno-Cheddar sausage that was also in it even better. Came with chips. I also ordered a side of charro beans that were fantastic. They have two BBQ sauces. I sampled both, but liked the darker one. Sorry, didn't come named! The inside had a few tables that were scattered around the two garage bays. However, we sat outside because it was such a nice winter day. I highly recommend outside if you don't get scorched.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times over the past couple years and it has always been consistently good—until this evening. The portions were noticeably smaller than usual, and several items just didn’t taste the same. The cole slaw and potato salad seemed like they came straight out of a generic store-bought container, and even the pickles didn’t have their usual flavor. The cole slaw has never had carrots in it before, yet now it does. The brisket was unfortunately dry, though the pulled pork was still excellent. Previous Review (2 years ago): Excellent food for the middle of nowhere, Texas. At first the meat portions looked small, but after the food and a beer I was completely full. I got the two-meat platter with two sides, bread, and pickles for about 20 bucks. The brisket and turkey were very good. Service was quick, and there was plenty of shaded seating both inside and outside.
