Avis sur El Presidio Mazatlán
This 200 year old restaurant is a must dine. Chef Alan creates some of the best dishes, taste and presentation is comparable to the best restaurants in Las Vegas. I couldn't believe I found this place in Old Town Mazatlan.
Simply outstanding.. excellent dining and outstanding service in a truly wonderful setting. Big kudos to Miguel.. and Miguel.. and Miguel (there are actually 3!) Everything about El Presidio is excellent and I’m sure you will enjoy a superb dinner, lunch or breakfast here. (Ps, the best crème brûlée you’ve ever had 😉)
El Presidio knocks the Mazatlán dining experience out of the park. UPDATE January 2026 We continue to experience Presidio as one of the true highlights of Mazatlán.. Gracias Miguel for proving El Presidio is a truly unique dining experience (actually there are three Miguels in this team.. and they are all true professionals!) with an outstanding kitchen and a wonderful team who are committed to ensuring you will have a fantastic meal! (Breakfast, lunch or dinner! 🙏♥️) We were so impressed on our first visit, last year, we went back two days later.. in both cases the food and the service was just outstanding. When you step into this courtyard it's utterly magical, you will feel like you are on a movie set. And when the food arrives you will realize that, as wonderful as the setting is, it's the food and the service that are the real stars. We cannot say enough good things about El Presidio. They could have succeeded on the Beauty of their setting alone.. but they went much further and made El Presidio a "MUST EXPERIENCE" for anyone visiting Mazatlán.
Food was amazing! The jungle patio dinging atmosphere with a saxophone player set the mood. Loved this place. The service was a little slow but not bad at all.
What an unforgettable evening! Located in Old Town, getting there was a bit of a crazy ride, but once we arrived, it was absolutely amazing. The courtyard setting was warm, inviting, and truly unique. The jazzy American rock music set a fun, vibrant tone, and to our delight, a live saxophonist made the night even more special. The food was spectacular — the poblano soup was the best I’ve ever tasted, and every other dish was equally impressive. The staff were all so happy, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the experience even better. I will always remember this evening. Everything about it was outstanding. Highly recommend!
This restaurant has a rich past which is worth 'Googling'. It's location in the heart of Mazatlan Historical Centro is because it's been there longer than we've all been alive. Whether you enjoy the sweet sounds of a saxophone drifting on the warm night air, or the gentle offerings of a guitar, El Presidio will offer the warmest ambiance possible while dining on Rib Eye steak or sipping cocktails. Don't miss visiting this unique Mexican experience while you visit Maz. (The restaurant is situated in the inner courtyard of what was once a family home. The large trees growing through the stones, the vine roots clinging to the walls high above you...they all have a story they're waiting to tell you. Go..hear it...live it.)
Beautiful courtyard, great food, great service. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer, wrapped it in blue corn tortillas with the salsa and guacamole and it was sublime. The roasted cauliflower steak was delicious for our vegetarian daughter, The steak, shrimp, and pasta and chicken mole was good too.
Oh wow! First off, the old historic town of Mazatlan is absolutely beautiful. Then there is this restaurant which appears to have been created by a masterful mind that came upon an old dilapidated courtyard overgrown jungle foliage and trees. The atmosphere can't be missed. The food was fancy and absolutely delicious, flavors were intense and the mango margarita I had was spot on. They took no shortcuts here. Service was friendly and professional, but not very bilingual, so bring along a fluent spanish speaking friend, or better yet, learn spanish.
Had an amazing time here at El Presidio. The food was amazing!! It was so good. The experience was great, the staff are incredibly nice. Saul was our waiter and he was phenomenal. Highly recommend checking this place out, it's a must try place in Mazatlan. Make sure you get a reservation so you can for sure snag a seat, and always ask to be in the patio section.
A solid 4.5! It’s a lovely restaurant with top notch service and excellent food! We shared the grilled cauliflower and fettuccini with a mushrooms sauce which were both over the top good. The char of the cauliflower served on a mixed pepper sauce was something else! The pasta was cooked al Dante and the sauce flavourful. We went for lunch and will return for dinner to experience the evening coziness of its surroundings. My only negative comments are that I would have preferred to listen to some Latino music to reflect its location and said music was a bit too loud and the wine is a bit too pricey. We will be back!
The atmosphere was very nice. We ordered the stuffed anaheim oepper and the roasted pear salad. Our friends ordered the stuffed pepper and the beef marrow (not on the menu). The food was excellent. We enjoyed the mariachi group. The musicians and voices were fabulous. The only drawback were the waiters, Juan and Lionel. They failed to take two of our orders. They then brought my husband’s salad, followed by our friend’s order. They totally failed to bring the two stuffed pepper orders until reminded.
I recommend going for atmosphere and drinks. The food was too flavorful and intense. Which made it a bad eating experience. We ordered the Pear and Goat Cheese Salad and Laminated Tuna, which on the other hand was lacking something. Food was overall nothing special. It’s quite pricey for what it is. We couldn’t order pasta because they ran out. Drinks were really good, I had a maracuya mezcal and my partner a tasty wine from Coahuila. The chips you get when arriving were good. I would only come back for drinks. Food can improve much more for what they charge.
